Kappa Sushi in Quesada
Description
Privilege
Delicious sushi, lots of options, great prices! The service was outstanding!!
Great food and prices! I purchased the dragon boat and I was not disappointed. You get 4 rolls to choose from. The outdoor portion of the restaurant is nicely shaded and youre away from the main street. Would definitely go back!
MoreWOW! The vegan sushi is so good 😍
The place is lovely and the sushi is not bad.But I was very disappointed with the place when I waited over 40 minutes, for sushi and drinks. When we received the sushi they didnt bother to ask us how the food was.. Unfortunately the service is nothing at all and disappointing. Hope they will improve and take note.
MoreKappa Sushi will not disappoint, the food was incredible! And their mint lemonade is a must if you’re looking for a refreshing drink.
MoreBest vegan sushi Ive had. The vegan sushi rolls here are surprisingly versatile and they paid high attention to detail when it comes to flavor, theyre so delicious! Aside from the ten vegan roll options, theres also vegan Ramen, a bowl, sushi boat, miso, cucumber salad, and edamame. This is among the best vegan sushi that Ive ever had and the pricing was equally incredible.
MoreSushi is decent, and the best in town (for what there is, only 2 other options). When paying, always pay in Costa Rican colones here. The dollar value on the menu is not what they charge in the computer (which is in Colones), and it is from a very bad exchange rate. Pay in Colones, youll always come out ahead. They make some extra $ off the exchange rate at your expense, but your bank will ALWAYS be the best exchange rate. This place isnt the worst in town for this, at least they remember who not to try it on a second time, but they have setup for charging a card $ in without asking, although I havent seen it as much in the past year, so maybe they have improved. Regardless, pay in Colones, never in US$.
MoreThis was one of the first restaurants my fiancé and I ate at. We were hesitant to get sushi in Costa Rica but boy were our assumptions wrong. Delicious!
MoreSo vegan friendly! Everything was amazing but the crispy tofu roll was my favorite. And the passion mojito..I’m not much of a drinker but that was my best drink ever.
MoreArrived and loved the ambience in the place but the food was average at best. I had the dragon roll ( cold and the vegan ramen ( didn’t taste like ramen brothand brought at the same time. The staff was very rude and unfriendly which didn’t help with the experience. And when I was paying she added 1 colon extra on top of my amount which I then had to ask her why? She then said that’s right and took it off…oh yeah and service is already Included which is probably why she was just rude and in a bad mood ..Maybe if you’re lucky with a friendly server you’ll have a better time. 🤷🏻♀️
MoreThe Best vegan sushi Ive ever had. Im from LA and we have a lot of vegan sushi and this place beats the best. Chill vibe, good music, great service. So many reasons to check it out!!
MoreThe sushi was great and the ingredients were fresh, spring rolls were amazing, the food presentation was very cool and the staff and place is very nice.
MoreThe service at Kappa Sushi was awesome. We had inexpensive warm sake and a fun tropical sort of sushi role (with plantains!that was definitely enjoyable and different than sushi Ive had in the US or Japan. I appreciated the "local twist" to the sushi. Highly recommend the Tico Pira Vida roll!
MoreWow. Everything was excellent. Must try the vegan menu!
Giving 4 stars because they actually had vegan options, food quality I would say 3 stars. We only had vegan ramen and that wasn’t really great (flavorlessand my spicy margarita wasn’t spicy (it was very sweet so if you like that its great but if you’re expecting spicy then you will be disappointed).
MoreFantastic little sushi restaurant. We had two sushi boats and a few other items and was not disappointed by any of it. Super friendly staff and a fun atmosphere
MoreThe Sushi there is fresh, the Giozas were delicious and the choice is good. The price is fair. It is nothing outstanding but we had a very nice evening with a very nice waitress😊🤩
MoreThe absolute best vegan sushi of my life. Do not miss this! Came for lunch 3 days in a row and would do it again.
MoreGreat food and service! We are vegan and had plenty of options to choose from. My family of five got the spring rolls and two vegan sushi boats. The waitress was very helpful and our delicious meal even more enjoyable.
MoreVegan sushi boats! Very good. Lots of fried rolls. We all had a different favorite. They have tofu!
MoreWe loved Kappa Sushi so much we ate here two nights in a row! I would highly recommend the sushi boat (to share!and the ramen was also excellent.
MoreGood sushi! Ramen soup was great too! If you like Piña Colada, then stop by this place and ask for one because you wont regret it.
MoreLets start off with what I liked: cocktails were very good! The piña colada and mint mojito were delicious and affordable. The tuna and salmon sashimi were also good.On to the not so good... The sushi boat. You were able to choose 4 special rolls from the boat menu and althought the boat came out looking fantastic, the rolls were disappointing. The ingredients seemed good quality, the portion was generous, and the presentation was beautiful but it seemed as though the rolls with tuna and marlin came from a can. Not sure if when they fried it for the tempura if it cooked the tuna but regardless, I have had plenty of sushi and tempura sushi and it was never cooked. This made the fish taste dry and just made the rolls taste off. Wasnt horrible but wasnt good.
MoreGreat little sushi place in the center of La Fortuna. The sushi is fresh and flavorful, the portions large. They have a substantial vegan and vegetarian menu. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. I would definitely return. Really good food and drinks at an affordable price.
MoreBest vegan sushi ever tasted. Must visit if in La Fortuna.
My husband and I had one of the best sushi meals ever! They even have vegan options, which I didnt think Id care for but these were our favorite rolls. The whole boat of rolls was superb, and the natural drinks were refreshing and tasty. We highly recommend Kappa!
MoreDelicious! We werent quite sure how sushi would be in Costa Rica but was pleasantly surprised. We ordered the sushi boat to share and it was more than enough food for two! The rice was good and the fish was very fresh. Overall highly recommended! 👌 Not to mention the view of the Arenal volcano. Sunset was absolutely gorgeous.
MoreWhoa.. the Vegan Sushi options are out of this world! Forget about cucumber rolls, this place goes above and beyond! Great service, amazing food, good prices.. this place is a must!
MoreGreat sushi at a good price! Clean bathrooms were a plus too. Try to eat indoors as the street outside is loud and pretty dirty.
MoreI appreciate having th vegan Japanese food option. The food is descent. I have had better vegan Japanese food somewhere else, but this is good enough. The vegan ramen noodle bowl is small portion size wise. My vegan bowl was good, not amazing.
MoreLoved the food: fresh ingredients, generous portions and excellent taste. I tried the spicy tuna and the dragon roll (with tempura shrimps), and both were heavenly. One roll could be filling enough unless you’re too hungry or curious to try more. The service was very good, very quick. It is a small place and the staff were super attentive. Prices were also quite reasonable.
MoreBest sushi in Costa Rica!Update 2021: Still the best sushi in Costa Rica. Loads of vegan options, fair prices. I would give this place 6 stars if I could!
MoreSushi boat at 📍 @kappafortunaRating: 😑 Meh, ok.Thoughts 💭The over excitement I feel when someone serves me sushi in a boat. The sushi itself was small and the rice was too hard and not seasoned. There was a good range of toppings though.Reviews by @thefoodiestraveldiary
MoreMany vegan options which is usually quite difficult to find. Also food is really delicious, service is good and prices are fair. Really recommended! 👍
MoreVery nice sushi place, the spring rolls, sushi rolls, and ramen were very good. Worth to visit again and try more plates
MoreWe had the sushi boat, but overall the sushi was just clunky. Fried broccoli that just overpowered everything, or a beet roll with tempura coconut that made the sushi hot... We have been to Japan and know sushi well, this was nice, but not quite it. Also, we sat in the window and the air didnt move there at all. Luckily we had a reservation, otherwise we would have waited a long time for a table. The sake mojito was really good though and the highlight of our dinner. Oh, and there was enough ginger and wasabi for maybe 1 roll, let alone 4. Good prices, unfortunately the ideas didnt stick to clean good Japanese sushi and the experiments werent very good. The best roll we had was the crunchy tofu by far.
MoreDelicious, we have been here twice, because it was so good. We ordered "The boat" with 40 Pieces. Miso Soup also muy bien.
MoreFantastic sushi 🍣 and 🍣 rolls in downtown La Fortuna, Costa Rica. Excellent service from pretty waitress who was slammed by the customers coming in and seated. Better get there early, I arrived at 6:30 and just avoided a long wait. Small restaurant made tiny by CoVid restrictions. Excellent flavors and super fresh fish made my dinner a outstanding change from my resorts more formal cuisine. In fact, Im going back for my last dinner in Costa Rica before flying home. Dont Miss the Boat!! Go to Kappa Sushi 🍣 beneath the shadow of Arenal volcano 🌋...
MoreReally loved having so many vegan options! My boyfriend and I got the boat with 2 vegan rolls for me and two fish rolls for him. I liked both of my rolls but he unfortunately did not like his. He did like the two local craft beers that he got.
MoreHigh quality and fresh sushi in the middle of downtown La Fortuna. Fairly priced and generous servings. Definitely worth a nice sit down dinner, you will be surprised by the quality of the sushi.
MoreI came here based on good reviews and affordable prices. I was not expecting to have some of the best sushi Ive had in my life.Highly recommend getting the 40 pc sushi boat deal - perfect amount for 2 people, with a great limited selection from the menu. We chose all tempura options and they were hands down the best crunchy sushi Ive ever had. Also, the maracuya mojito and spicy margarita were super delicious and only $5 !!
MoreEnjoyed this small cozy spot! My husband and I arent big raw sushi eaters, but the menu had a nice tempura selection. And they were accommodating for any changes we had to our rolls. Tasted good, great service. Would recommend and visit again!
MoreA small restaurant downtown La Fortuna that I highly recommend. The sushi was fresh, excellent and the service was great. We were 2 couples and decided to order and share two sushi boats which was very sufficient. The price of the wine was more than reasonable and the cocktails were delicious. I invite you to go and see yourself!
MoreIm so glad this place exists. Their rolls are delicious and the fact that they have so many vegan options is amazing!! Had the boat which comes with 4 rolls aka 40 pieces. They disappeared from our plate really fast. So delicious!
MoreLoved the sushi here! I got the Philadelphia roll, and it came with an impressive amount of salmon. Gyoza were okay, I will probably stick just to rolls in the future. Definitely try it for yourself!
MoreTheir food was absolutely fantastic! We got the vegan bote, which included 4 choices of sushi. Each one was delicious. If you are in La Fortuna I would high recommend coming to eat here especially if you’re vegan/vegetarian. We came back to eat here twice during our stay. The service was great, remember to ask for your check when you’re ready to go because in Costa Rica it is common for them to wait until you ask for it.
MoreAmazing place! They stay open later then most other restaurants in town, and the owner was very accommodating when we got there near close! The sushi was great! Very high quality compared to other places in Costa Rica. The Saké Mojitos were great, especially the tropical one! And the owner bent over backwards to help us contact our hotel when the shuttle was late picking us up. Amazing service and great food, definitely recommend.
MoreKappa sushi is amazing! I have been there more times than I can count! Every time I am in La Fortuna I make sure to stop in! Sushi is one of my favorite foods, I get it anytime its an option and kappa sushi is nothing short of delicious! From their appetizers to their rolls and they even have incredible blended drinks. Dont like sushi cause you dont like raw fish or choose to eat vegan, no problem, their vegan rolls are amazing and their are many to choose from. Maybe you dont like sushi cause you dont like seaweed, no problem! They can make your roll with rice paper instead!! Something for everyone. Even the pickiest of eater. Highly recommend.
MoreThe service was amazing! Very clean and friendly! Sits on a side street that offers a pleasant quietness in the busling town of la fortuna. The food was so good! A simple miso soup was stunning! A definite must when you are in arenal! Very fare prices too for amazing quality sushi!!
MoreWonderful vegan options including a whole menu section of vegan sushi. We had dinner here then returned the next day for lunch as it was so tasty! Super fresh food and very friendly staff. This place is a gem
