Bustling, storied covered market for fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood, clothing & souvenirs.
Authentic market, used by locals.Nice atmosphere,Be aware off pick pockets
Very wide variety of things ranging between fish and souvenirs, nice comfortable place 10/10
Amazing market with lots of choice. Workers are extremely helpful
Nice market with good selection of fresh produce, meats, fish and olives. Prices are higher compared to other markets but the location is great. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops close by so it’s worth a visit
This is a must in Thessaloniki. Its a very authentic market where locals buy produce, fish, seafood, and meat. The sights and smells are something you dont see everywhere in Europe, so its quite an experience. The smell is overwhelming, with hints of fresh and raw seafood, meat, and other interesting products. I bought olives and I was not disappointed. There are some food joints where you can sit and have a more local experience.
Bought underwear for 2€ that fit better than all the 10€ underwear you buy in Germany! Also olives are extremely cheap, a third of what you pay in Germany, it is insane!
This market has everything. Your go to place if you want some head.😉
Really interesting with many local products at a good price
Ate at the fish place at the outer entrance. One can pick from really fresh fishes and they will cook them as wish.
I love going to traditional markets, this visit rated good ,as while searching for the best olive oil ,merchants offered tastings and suggestions, fun and i found an oil that i like. Suprised at limited number of fruit and vegtable stands,or other things for sale.this may soon be gone as a modern building, for a market, located a block away,is nearing completion soon.
Great market , the heart of thessaloniki thank you 😊
One of the must-see spots of Thessaloniki
What an experience visit the wet market weve been going for nearly 40 years the Jewish sector is great.Bargains to be had get your cooking herbs for home and a short walk to central tourism sites.
Good place to buy fresh fish, fruits and olives 👌
all super fresh food to buy; vegetables, meat, fish and fruits
It’s a great place, delicious food and great cocktails. Definitely go there!!!
Very nice place. I found it easy. The prices are ok.Around you can find fast food .
A perfect oriental market - bazaar, as if we travelled back by time mashine to 19 century!
Lots of options and better pricing than where the cruise ships were coming in. So happy I found this little area. Vendors were friendly and even threw in a couple free souvenirs.
Very good quality for seriusly low prices. You can find almost anything at a discount, from detergents to spices and good wines. You just have to ask for directions, surely someone will point you to the right shop.
Really exciting market full of lots of lovely goodies. Definitely recommend an afternoon exploring this place.
Once a week on Wednesday in Moudenia a beautiful market. Everything is there very fresh and cheap. Vegetables fruits fresh fish flowers wain and more...
As a tourist, I can say that this was a very authentic experience (not used to open markets like this in my country). Everything looked very nice and fresh though. A lot of meat and fish that smelled nice and looked tasty. Also a lot of other stuff and mostly olive oil and olives (quality that you can find only in places where they grow olives). Recommend visiting, you might find something you like.
A lot of non expensive clothes shops. I thought its more a bazaar than a market, until we discovered an olive stand and a local taverna, right in the middle of the market. The food was great, and the atmosphere was relaxed.
A nice market with great vendors, big diversity of meats, dairy products, vegetables, fruits, clothes and souvenir shops, friendly and very helpful people, the area is a little bit messy and runned down sadly, dont expect great cleanliness.
A good street market with a variety of products and benches, tho is very nice and has its beauty, it would be a bit better maintenanced, both on facilities and hygiene.
Beautiful and packed traditional Thessaloniki market. A must visit place for authentic olive oil and mountain tea.
Local markets are always so interesting to visit. Karani Market is an open air bazar. It offers a wide variety of local products, from meats, fishes, spices, and many others. The place is really interesting in the heart of Thessaloniky. Once you travel in this city, it is mandatory visiting this place! I give it my five stars
Super fish market. What ever I was looking for I did find.Special regards for the lady which was working od the first stand.
Fresh produce galore. What you expect from a mediterranean country market. This os the life!
Eclectic maze of varied shops. I found some souvenir shops at better prices for some items better than other places. Do your research and you’ll be better off.
Everything is cheaper here and for some reason you cant help but think also more fresh. Also. There are plenty of shops of all kinds. Noooot great with cards. Smells but you expect it to smell and it definitely is a part of the overall experience.
Loved it here, bustling and full of life!
You can find everything here, from fresh meat and fish, till pyjamas and essential oils for your body.
The place to go for local delicacies, food and drink in abundance, see the real Thessaloniki, go where the locals go.
Too dirty, not a good picture for the citys central historic market. You cannot walk through it comfortably as at any step different people approach and offer illegal tobaco and cigarettes.
Its a popular market. You can buy a lot of different local food, especially fish, olives, and feta cheese.
Vivid picture of Greek style. Lot of food, must taste before shopping, dont leave without feta, kefalotiri, olives and olive oil
Legendary place is the hearth of the city. Go in the morning and youl will love it
Great food shops, tavers, and traditional products. Old, vintage Thessaloniki. Great bags, home equipment, and warm people make up a hidden gem next to Aristotelous Square.
Mediterranean hustle and bustle. Charming spot.
Great open market. Fresh meat, poultry, fish... We bought olives, all sorts of 100gr each. Also, hard white cheese - the typical Greek cheese. A must visit/shop, specially for the hard white cheese.
A lot of....everything and very nice People, as we know The greek are :)
Great place if you want to know how Greek people live, what they eat, how they chose their grocery products, their meat, you can feel Greek for a time losing yourself through the crowds.
Kapani market in Thessaloniki is a green market where you can enjoy in shopping local goods, vegetables and meat from Greece. Although I expected bigger market, with lot more green stuff, fruits and vegetables (have seen only 2 standsthis can be explored in a half hour. Its not full of people, we visited twice, Friday and more busy Saturday. One kilogram if olives starts from 3€/kg, up to 7-8€/kg, big can of 5 liter of extra virgine olive oil from Creta you can purchase for 22€. Lot of good and cheap meat, sausages, fishes, big squids, cheese, nuts, almonds, various spices, teas, but also stuff like souvenirs, clothes, stuff from China, Its all here. Sellers are not loud like in Italy, but you will enjoy local atmosphere. There is a coffee place where you can have cheap coffee, too.
Kapani is a tipical balkanic market, similar to the Turkish and Arabic bazaars, filled with a lot of small shops with almost anything you can imagine: meat, fish, seafood, clothes, bags, shoes, souvenirs, coffee shops, tavernas, and so on. The prices for non-food items are not so cheap as youll espect, youll find a lot of Made in China products, most of them fakes. But is nice to visit it, especially if you came from a Western country, is an excellent experience! :)
The rather tourist orientated market place.A lot of local stuff. Fish and meat sections probably for those of strong stomachs. Great chease and olives. Some tourist souvenirs and a few places to drink a glass of beer or Retsina (local alcoholic drink based on wine).
Kapani market is Thessalonikis oldest public market.Lots of shops with cheap prices. It serves consumers needs since Ottoman occupation. It is located between Egnatia,Aristotelous and Venizelou streets in the centre of Thessaloniki. The nearest bus stop is Plateia Aristotelous in order to visit the market.
The heart of Thessaloniki! you can buy everything here, great prices and good streetfood, be aware of pickpockets lots of people. my favorite spot always started my day with coffee here and always bought some of the greatest tasting sausages before heading back home. crazy mix of seafood, meat, junk, gems and pigheads :a must visit if you are in Thessaloniki
Great place for a wander. Bought a lovely peach, missus got some great T shirts for the kids.
