Kanpai Sushi - Sushi restaurant in Reno, United States
Good sushi, fussion style
Good place employees and food good atmosphere perfect best sushi
Wow! This was incredible. We walked by yesterday and I wanted to eat here but it was closed. Today though, today was glorious. Our server Carmen was very friendly, kind and attentive. The food was divine. You must try the El Jefe. The roll was so delicious and the sauce it came with was out of this world. Just the right amount of sweet without being too much. Very glad we ate here and will certainly come back the next time we are in town.
Times are not correct for hours of operation. Managers are unprofessional and rude. Will not go back
Nice staff, fun decor, amazing art. But to die for sushi!!! Eat as much of their Ahi as you can!!! It is so good! Also the special sauce on the El Jefe!!! I think I am going to have dreams about it!
Fish was fresh. Kids love it
This is the best sushi Ive ever had! Been coming here every chance I get for years- Carlos is amazing and even remembers me and what I order, even if its been years! Great food, great service, great value - I would recommend it 100%!
Dropped by here because this place used to be another sushi place, Kokopelli’s. Even though it’s a different restaurant now, they still serve very similar items. My favorite sushi roll here is the ceviche roll! It’s a little sour with the perfect amount of saltiness. The food is great but service was incredibly slow even when the place only had a few customers.
Great customer service - wonderful staff. Go here as often as I’m able and never disappointed. Favorite place to go for sushi in Reno!
The food was good but I felt a little rushed.
My husband and I had a wonderful experience here! Not only is the sushi delicious but the staff is friendly and attentive. We enjoyed chatting with our sushi chef. Highly recommend 👌
The fried salmon hand roll was delicious. Everything we tried was fresh and Amy made them fast. Our miso soup was forgot about and trying to pay took longer than it should. That is why it’s 4 stars instead of 5.
Best sushi Ive ever had. Service was ok
Had dinner here during our stay ar Silver Legacy Hotel. Clean. Hosts are super friendly. Sushi are fresh and big portions.
They used to be really good. Im assuming management has changed. Prices went up and staff is even less attentive than they used to be? I know what youre thinking- how is that even possible? It is. For instance, noone came around to fill our water. Another example- after 20 minutes of sitting at the table with a pile of AYCE dishes, I just walked them up to the counter myself. This place used to be quite modest, but always reliable. It went down hill more recently.Hopefully they turn things around. This used to be one of my favorite places for sushi. Also, a tip- avoid nigiri sushi here. Not sure if they use different rice when making these? Something is off?
Very good food and service.
All you can eat sushi, made to order. $27.
The ayce sushi was good as usual but the service not so much. The chefs were more into prepping the ingredients and not paying attention to the customer (me). 3 rolls of sushi in 1.5 hours (very slow). Time for me to move on to a different sushi restaurant. I hope others receive faster service. I have to say the sushi is good though. Oh yeah, the rolls are also fairly big. Enjoy if you decide to go there, they also raised their price from $24 to $27. Sorry no pictures.
Came for the all you can eat sushi. Nice pieces of fish, fresh too. My only complaint is the rice. Too chewy and no vinegar to give it a little kick. But I will say that they dont overload the nigiri sushi with rice which is a plus. Sushi chef was great - Rene is his name. Would go back for sure.
We use to go here 4/5 yrs ago...when it was in the back of the Mexican restaurant. I was happy to see that they changed it and it is now in the front left hand side of the Mexican place. The service was never good back than-but the sushi was good. That’s why we kept going. We stopped because the Atlantis is much better. We decided to give this one last try. I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE AGAIN! The service was SO BAD! The chef Amy was good. She tried. The Buser barely got us water. We had to ask for soup which came with the all you can eat. I had to get up to find him after 15 mins just for that. He only picked up our plates when we had to push them on an empty spot next to us. And he followed the manager around as to “kiss up” and only cleared the tables she checked on. Than after we ordered a salmon roe with quail egg, we went to order another one and Carlos (another chef came over and said there wasn’t any. I said “we just got one.” Him and Amy had a secret conversation so we couldn’t hear. I asked “what was going on, that we just had one. What happened?” Amy admitted “Carlos threw the entire bucket of salmon roe eggs away for “no reason”. I was concerned at this point if there really was something wrong with them, considering we just ate them. She said “no, she just filled the container. He just threw them away.” And Carlos was a manager chef!?? What is happening there?! I felt really sick yesterday, but I can’t claim it’s from that or just throwing up randomly. I just was NOT happy at all for this place after several chances, and a remodel: and will never go back.
The sushi is good but all you can eat is only served at the sushi bar. We had a large party and didn’t realize this very inconvienient fact until after we placed our order. Needless to say it was not worth the $350. Although the sushi was good, we will not be return as we felt pretty ripped off.
Roll sushi is ok but Nigiri sushi’s rice is not so good texture as real sushi and they serve so slow..Kono is not crab but just kanikama stick on rice.. you have to check your waiting time at the entrance. We are one hour and it seems normal.
Best kept secret Sushi in Reno. First it was Kokapellis and now remodeled and renamed Kanpai. We went on a Tuesday night and it was moderately busy. I had the sashimi plate ($23and my husband chose 3 long rolls, a la cart ($30). The sashimi slices and rolls were big. The fish was very fresh and of high quality. The service was fast and friendly. We are thrilled that the sushi is as good as it was before the remodel. It is Renos best kept secret sushi house especially for those who love raw fish. We will be back often!
Terrible service, even for a casino. The place was empty and we couldnt get attention from the staff or our meals. Theres plenty of sushi options in Reno - this isnt one of them.
Wonderful experience here at the kenpai sushi family of five did all you can the staff was friendly and wonderful great atmosphere and the chef that prepared our rolls was Carlos and he did a wonderful job will come to place again and recommend anyone who wants great sushi
Wait for sushi, 40 minutes...and counting as I write this. Slow service, poor communication. 55 minutes food arrived, order is wrong. Sushi fine, not worth the wait and poor service.
Wait staff slow. Lady that served us couldnt speak any English. Took an hour to get 3 rolls and it was NOT that great but edible. We will go to Sushi Pier Too instead. With the cab ride it would be about the same price.
