Kamakura Komachi Dori Shopping Area - Tourist attraction in Odawara, Japan
I really enjoyed walking down this street, as there is lots of food shops and merchandise stuff too. They even have a studio ghibli store down at the front entrance. Also there are a surprising amount of animal cafes for owls, cats, dogs, hedgehogs, and even pigs
Nice shopping street. Many restaurants and street foods. Highly recommended
This street has everything the food in every corner is luscious. Try to come over and taste the food too.
Nice cozy street with a lot of small shops with food and souvenirs.
Fabulous place to visit with a lot of shopping and eating places along the way as we walked to the Shrine.
The shopping street provides traditional crafts and foods of Japan. Although a bit expensive, the stuffs are authentic, and quality is good.
There need to be trash bin for all this take away foods. I mean I see tourists just throwing on the side of the street, in the alley around corner, even worse inside other stores.
Love this street-- if you need to take lunch or dinner you may as well walk down this street first and you can find all sorts of Japanese traditional food and of course sweets-- especially macha ice cream, etc.
Komachi Dori is the heart of tourist shopping in Kamakura, but should be savored slowly. Instead of quickly walking down the street and missing the magical food or product discoveries, try spending a few minutes going into each store, or reading the menu at each food establishment. After dozens of trips here, we still discover a new local tidbit to eat, or a new item in a store to ogle and consider buying. Just when we think we know the street well (and know some of the shop owners, many of whom are happy to talk), we discover something new to add to our favorites list.
It was my first time in Kamakura and all the blogs I’ve read suggested that I drop by this street before going home. Glad I did because I enjoyed the many different street food offerings they had. Despite the current situation with the pandemic, there were relatively many people on the street. Vibe was nice 👍
Great street food, bit crowded on a weekend, but still very enjoyable. We went as a group and shared items to have a taste of everything. We loved the cheese tart 😍 and the seafood. Would come back again.
Lots of very interesting shops so we picked up a lot of souvenirs made in Japan. The prices here are alot more affordable than shops in Tokyo. Lots of small eateries too.
Wonderful place and excellent foods especially noodles is masterpiece
Wow....a street for clothes ,Japanese sweets, food, gift item... Especially the matcha ice cream.. Dont miss to taste. When you lick the first time, ice cream taste odd.. but its really tasty..
This is such a beautiful street although theres so many tourists here!Amazingly nice looking neighborhood and good stuffs everywhere!Dont forget to try beer made in here(Kanagawa)
Headed for this street after getting off the Enoden at the Kamakura Station and had a blast eating my way through 😋 I especially loved foods with shirasu (japanese white bait), doesnt have that fishy smell & taste.
This area is so peaceful. I always get excited when we visit.
Busy shopping street for tourists. Need to reserve three hours to not to rush through.
An exciting and romantic walking path, with plenty of shopping and eating options near by. It is beautiful at night as well, when the path is illuminated.
Nice location about 5-10 minutes from station, great food and amount for the right price
Great tourist spot and theres a store called Caricature where you can get your caricature drawn in a span of an hour or so.
A long alley with so many stores on both side, the price is quite expensive $$$, but it still have to visited when you go to Kamakura.
Very much a touristy, sightseeing street with many shops for food and souvenirs and crowds of people. If youre into that kind of thing, this will be a great place to visit. I suggest looking up recommendations for local specialty foods so you dont get overwhelmed and settle for whichever shop is convenient.
very busy tourist walking street, too many souvenir shops though
A good shopping street. Many special things you can buy
I really really loved this street. Great atmosphere, great crowd, great amount of snacks like amazing matcha ice cream, amazing matcha mochi, etc. Very fun to browse and eat and shop. I know Japan has this thing about not eating and walking but here its kinda allowed. Its really fun.
Variety of food you can find here
Great shopping for random stuff, sovenirs and street food (mochi, pancakes etc.It is right outside of the Kawamura station which is super convenient. When you head out of the east exit, turn left and go straight to the McDonalds. The entrance to komachi Dori is just right next to it. Its also super long with shops on either side of the alley so do spare at least an hour or two to stroll and enjoy what this street has to offer! If you continue to head straight up, you will reach the popular shrines.
So busy, and so many tourists. So much delicious food too.
Many good shops to buy omiyage, street food and you may also find nice-looking cafes here and there. Those who like matcha may also find many matcha treats as well as a store specialized in match products. In the photo, a place to eat a simple lunch with student discount.
A must visit if you visit kamakura. Very lively and hosts variety of shops. Must try the matcha, croquettes and crepes.
Nice crowd and tons of food to try if you eat non veg.
Many many shops along the street. various of products such as clothes, souvenirs, especially desserts. You can try many thing as you want. Some good, some average. You can rent a Kimono dress, dress up, walk in the street and take photos until 5 pm.
Interesting tourism places with great food and interesting restaurants and shops. It tends to be very crowded but do spend some quality time there :)
Beautiful area. Be careful while visiting, where you place your trash and how loud you are. My friend who was showing me around explained to me that we were passing into the "spirit world" when we crossed under those large framed beams. There is a cute little cat that sits on the street, and it wears a sweet hat and shirt. This is a great area to get multiple types of snacks. I ate macha Ice cream and Magikarp cakes, carmelized and filled with chocolate, red bean, caramel and other flavors. The vendors are kind, and the grocery store is my favorite. While you are here, try the local train, it is cute
Plenty of shops, I enjoyed my whole afternoon here.
Komachi food street combined with a sea side visit at enoshima made the PERFECT day trip from Tokyo. This street is choke full of snacks we loved.. especially the crepes, sweet potato croquette, green tea gelato, shirasu takoyaki, fish cakes, and this mochi place near the entrance. This is so accessible as it is right at the exit of kamakura station.
Big Buddha and Temples are the main attraction. Tons of little shops and delicious bites around.
Had a blast in this area. We tried the savory pancakes, which were delicious! Though the kids didnt like them much(Too different). Also went to the first shoguns Temple. Gorgeous area! Pictures dont do it justice. We had a tour guide while there, which helped, but you could have use dtbe pamphlets to see the sights your self and still have an idea what was going on. Visit kamikura while in Japan!
many traditional Japanese sweet stores, very fine and delicious street food
Awesome food street with a variety of local cuisine. Make sure to try the croquette, purple soft serve. Also the crunchy nut from まめや is so unique and delicious that it is worth a detour!
A busy alley on holidays filled with a variety of interesting small shops and eateries.
It was spring. Along the street there was sakura blooming in both sides. Its very beautiful just to walk on and enjoy the walking path.
I had a wonderful experience in a small tea house/shop in the back of a narrow street in this location. It is here since 2016 only, but the owner knows his teas. Also sweets offered to enjoy while drinking tea were pleasant. The shop is small, for around 10-12 people, nicely decorated. As it is not easily seen from the main shopping street, you can enjoy peaceful break.
Lots of nice little shops, food stalls and restaurants. We visited an owl cage here and also saw a bunny one too
Many good food and shops next to Kamakura station.
Kamakura is a coastal area in Kanagawa Prefecture in southern Tokyo. Directly opposite the Bay of Sagami makes Kamakura famous for its scenic beach and sea attractions. Especially with a distance of just 1 hour from downtown Tokyo, making the beach in Kamakura and Enoshima become a favorite tourist destination in the summer. The Japanese Info Team recently had the opportunity to visit Kamakura and Enoshima, and following reviews and following reviews of tours in Kamakura, hopefully it can be a guide for friends in Kamakura.
Full of eateries and shops selling Japanese style products. Not much crowded but the atomsphere is festive
Very cool place with lots to eat , see and buy. A tad over commercialised but all good.
May shops and restaurants, amusing to visit if its your first time in Japan. Otherwise, the street is often overcrowded and not so interesting. Still, you can find quite good food specialities there. So if you know what you are looking for and going there far from the rush hour, its fine.
