Casual & cheery pink-coloured cafe serving vegan & healthy plant-based eats in bi-level digs.
Nice vegan food. First time I tried a vegan fish & chips (banana blossom, thats innovative!!!).
Too overhyped in my view. . The food is average and not very inventive for the price we paid. I ordered a b12 burger which was good but the vegan brownie was uneatable. For 9 quids, I would have expected more than a dry piece of peanut butter. There was hardly any chia jam just a few tiny drops. There are much better place to eat vegan food in London and at better price points.
Vegan food, well prepared and tasty. We could fit the 8 of us, and everyone was satisfied. Food is fresh and well assorted. Service is kind and swift, when not too busy.Closing time is a bit too early.Prices are just in line with the same kind of restaurant.
Getting really sick of being charged the prices of meat for vegetables! Horrendously overpriced desserts and only 2 choices. Seemed to have reduced their menu options compared to a couple of months ago. Felt pressured to order then get out. Also, Im vegan...why would I want to eat something that is made to have the look and texture of meat? Not impressed with food options or prices. Would not recommend to others.
We just had a drink each and shared the Brownie.I love the design. Well, I love pink. 😎The brownie was freshly made and yummy. The only thing that couldve made it perfect was to serve it warm. The Alkalised smoothie was delicious too and I loved the little teapot plus cup.We wouldve loved to come back after the show we wanted to watch but they already said they take the last orders at 8:15pm. What a pity. Wouldve loved to tried more things from the menu.Maybe one day. I will always return to London. 😊Oh, I give 5 stars when Im really satisfied and impressed. It was really good as I said. But: The waiter said he brings more water but didnt. The cook said the cake would be warm but it wasnt. I dont like empty words. Sometimes its better to not say anything. Sorry.
I came here for lunch with a friend as I’d heard good things about the restaurant, and I’m always exploring for good vegan places. We both ordered the ‘fish’ and chips for lunch, which we felt was quite expensive at £15 but it was quite nice so the price felt slightly justified. However, for desert we ordered the brownie which was £9 so we agreed to share this, as we felt this was incredibly expensive for a dessert. I’ve been to some high end restaurants and not paid so much! It was quite a big portion, but it was very tasteless and we left half of it. The poor standard of dessert put a downer on our meal. Although our main was quite nice, due to how expensive this restaurant is and the poor quality of some of the food I won’t be returning and would advise people there are more reasonable priced vegan restaurants with better quality food in London.
Very nice and quirky decoration. Staff are friendly and aprochable but a bit awkward. Food is good but considering other vegan restaurants prices probably not worthy for the money. Its too overpriced and the portions are not great. I think they are new , I see a lot of potential but I think it needs a bit of work in terms of the menu and costings.
Food tasted good but portion size on the chikken with sweet potato and mash was far too tight, especially for the price and being the most expensive main at £16. There were only 4 little chikken pieces and the mash was more of a swipe than a portion. The Klassic Kalifornia burger was great and fries were delicious. Also had the matcha cheesecake, it wasnt bad but there was no matcha taste and the cheese was too firm, like it had been taken out of the freezer for not very long. It wasnt worth £10 either. It delivered quite well on taste but not on value in our opinion. Would be open to trying the other dishes though
Ive been here three times already and always very impressed. I took a friend here for lunch today and we were both a bit disappointed with the food. We had the kalifornia burger. The bun was dry and hard, the burger was cold and undercooked and the cheese has been changed from the delicious gouda flavour previously used. At £14, it just wasnt worth it. We work locally and really enjoy coming here so hope you could make an improvement. Thanks. Lauren
Whilst we enjoyed the dishes (even though they were on the pricey side). The service was very odd being told that we could not have a starter as a starter (although listed on the menubecause they could not time it before the mains- the reason being it would be too stressful for the chefs to manage as one chef was still recovering from surgery. The white wine was also served warm. At these price points you expect a higher dining experience and better management. This would sadly stop us from rushing back.
Wasn’t much on offer for Coeliac friendly foods. The brands of milk they use were the cheaper versions so I decided to spend my money elsewhere. (I don’t pay what I pay for a drink, to drink Alpro....)Ended up round the corner at Redemption. It’s a plant base cafe... overpriced, Instagram fuelled and doesn’t need to be this expensive. Plenty of Vegan friendly cafes around with much greater selection of Vegan and Gluten free foods.Never know.. maybe they will offer more in the future.
Incredible vegan restaurant! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The style and decor of the place was so well done! The food came out quickly and was delicious. I had the Klassic Kalifornia burger and it was the best vegan burger I have ever had! The ‘cheese’ was so cheesy and delicious. I also had the brownie for dessert which was delicious!
Amazing service, amazing food, good prices. Cant wait to go again.
Amazing food and a well thought out interior and exterior design. The restaurant presented good vibes from the moment I stepped in. I ordered the Kalifornia Burger with seasoned fries, and a ‘grounded’ fresh juice to accompany my meal! The meal was delicious and I ordered the Kalifornia chocolate brownie for desert!!My only improvement; adjust the size of the bottles, which the juices are served in, as it is currently £5, but rather small for the price. Possibly offer two sizes, as opposed to one size.If you are interested in trying plant based meals, this is a great place to start!!!
This place was the cutest and super friendly. I went to dine solo, the restaurant is very comfortable for this if you do walk in alone. The theme was adorable, I was obsessed with taking photographs! The staff was friendly and welcoming and the food was awesome. I ordered food for dining and also some for takout. I ordered the classic burger - did not disappoint. Certainly recomend!
Took my mum to Kalifornia Kitchen before going to the theatre. It was quiet when we arrived as it was 1745. The staff were super friendly and the place was extremely pink LOL. It worked well with white tables and plants. We started with a fresh juice, I had the Healer which was very green but yummy and I felt I had balanced out what was to follow - the Kalifornia classic burger!! It was HUGE but so yummy and the paprika and thyme fries were awesome too. I was pretty full but it’s not often I have the chance to have a vegan dessert so also had the matcha cheesecake - just to ensure I was stuffed haha. The cheesecake was quite dense but tasted lovely and rich with a hint of matcha. The oaty biscuit crunchy thing on the top was my favourite bit. The service was good but could have been a little quicker considering how quiet it was but we were not pushed for time luckily. Will definitely be back!!
Came here after seeing it on Happy Cow 🐮 we were so impressed! When we came in we loved the bright neon pink/tropical decor, it seemed like a really exciting place to be.The servers there were super friendly and helpful, and when I was about to pick one dish the waitress kindly let me know that it was not the one to go for if I dont like spicy food and suggested their best-selling burger instead. The food was absolutely gorgeous - the vegan cheese, unlike in some shops and restaurants, was incredibly realistic and delicious and the burger was fantastic. We also had the twice fried potatoes and they were great too. As they were a little late with it (due to the waitress saving me from a spicy surprise), the potatoes were on the house - which was so kind and they didnt need to do that for us.All in all Id give it a 6/5 stars if I could. Great food, great value for money and absolute angels for staff. Would absolutely recommend to any vegans, veggies or Californian food lovers. ♥
Very nice place, the atmosphere, the interior, the food. Classy experience but affordable. In the center of London. I didnt like that the burger resembled the taste of meat, to be honest, but I understand some might like that. Though next time I will try something else. The dessert was amazingly good.
So delicious and fresh! Despite eating till full I actually still felt good because it was healthy. All the wait staff were really friendly too, all round brilliant place
The food was great. I shared a main, dessert and starter, which was easily adequate to feed two people. The dessert was amazing.Unfortunately the seating upstairs is a little uncomfortable. The acoustics are really bad as its one big room with flat untextured surfaces. Everyone ends up shouting and the music is just an incoherent rhythm which only adds to the noisy environment.
I would like to highlight that the service here is fantastic. We went here on a Tuesday after the bank holiday and the staff members who served us were extremely friendly and polite. It was a pleasant environment to be in. The decor is super cute, loved all the flowers and the pillows. Definitely a good place to take a few selfies. The food was lovely, we both had a Kalifornian burger, which was delicious and came with loads of chips - we couldnt even finish them. The smoothies were super tasty too. Cant wait to return and try something else on the menu!
They have great food here, and they are amazing. I wrote they, not the place because the team amazed me. Everybody is friendly, smiling, helpful. This is the real restaurant because you can eat home, but people create an atmosphere. It starts with the interior, continues with the music, food, and finishes with every member of the crew smiles. Wonderful experience through all my visits. If you want tasty food and a good vibe, visit them.P.S.: If you dont like pink, you will like it when you leave.
Overpriced for what you get. The Caesar salad was a bowl of salad leaves with a few plain bits of tempeh and a tiny amount of dressing that didn’t really taste of anything. It looked nice in a bowl but left me hungry and really not much taste at all. The fish and chips was tasty but for £14 didn’t get much at all and remained hungry. Didn’t fancy spending £8 or £9 for a dessert. For a cafe style restaurant the prices were crazy. Plus the washer upper kept coming out of the kitchen with her his rubber gloves on which I thought was unusual and my view of the curtain which attempted to cover up the bowls for dirty crockery wasn’t well hidden when the waiter kept having to pull the curtain back constantly. I wouldn’t have minded if I was in a cafe with cafe prices but the prices reflect more of a very fancy restaurant. I normally love a vegan restaurant so was quite excited to go but was really disappointed to be honest.
Great concept. Vegan restaurant with incredible burgers. The burger really taste like meat. Just unbelievable! Only one downside; once seated you must wait for your food as the kitchen is quite small. But if you want to be surprised have a go.
Very expensive, flavorless and poorly executed food.Had the curry which was very disappointing. Lacked flavor and potatoes were undercooked - didnt finish half the dish. The "chicken" with sweet mash costs £15 and the portion is tiny. Really underwhelming and uninventive.Venue is lovely ans staff friendly. Quite a shame the food isnt there.Very slow service, they need a bigger kitchen.Wont come back!
My friend and I shared both the mains and dessert, one of the mains was average but the other one which was the banana tacos had great flavours and was nutritious. The chocolate brownie was simply devine! It is on the pricey side. Great ambiance and decor.
A nice little place. Nothing special, I think with most new vegan cafes with a gimmick, it was full of "Instagram influencers" taking photos of themselves and on the stairs, however the cafe is pretty standard. Theres bright pink everywhere which pops out but the food was all right, nothing special. Not bad at all, but not amazing. Not the most comfortable seats either. Its a proper 3 out of 5.
Delicious! The restaurant was very close to where I was staying so I ended up going back three times during our trip. The interior aesthetic is gorgeous and all the food is super healthy and tasty-- Id especially recommend the galaxy bowl! 💖
Deliciously vegetarian! The burger tasted almost like real meat, and the atmosphere is great. Took a while for food to arrive but was worth it
Awesome place with super nice staff. The food is very tasty, choice is big and the matcha cheesecake was amazing. Highly recommended if youre looking for a vegan lunch.
Amazing choice of Veggie food! Had a delicious juice and their burger, which was a little too meaty for me but still very nice. Downstairs seemed a little cramped but I sat upstairs which had plenty of space and a lovely atmosphere, staff were very friendly and happy to help too
A great range of healthy smoothies, fresh juices, shots and plant milk lattes (including CBDsit on the menu. We opted for the hydrated (£6made up of mixed berries, coconut water, banana and rose water. Pretty in pink and super refreshing, it was not too heavy on the rose at all and delivered a hydrating hit as promised. We also tried the ginger kombucha (£4which was lovely and sharp and served elegantly with a little strawberry. There are also wine and champagne options should you be feeling the need for something a little stronger.Dishes range from heavenly salads and healthy bowls to tacos and burgers with chips. They are all plant based and served with vegan cheeses, burgers and mayos! We tried the rainbow bowl (£10.50full of goodness with kale, cherry tomatoes, cauli couscous with pomegranate, pumpkin seeds, squas, lime coconut yogurt which acted as a lovely dressing and of course, avo. The bowl was colourful, felt saintly to eat and left me full yet incredibly light. In the name of balance we also tried the Klassic Kalifornia Burger (£13.50). A hefty moving mountains b12 burger with smoked Gouda that was so good we had to ask if it was actually vegan!. It was full of caramelised onions, pickled red cabbage, romaine lettuce, tomato & KK special recipe burger sauce. This was all served with some rather delish smoked paprika & thyme fries. The portions were generous and the burger was a good option for veggies/vegans. It did fall apart a little so eating with knife and fork is recommended! We also enjoyed a side of super crunchy cheesy kale chips (£6), beautifully crisp and coated in cashew cheese they were so very moreish and a real fave. With cupcakes on display and the dessert menu options put in front of us, trying them was hard to resist. We opted for the sticky toffee pudding (£9served with ice cream. It was rich, gooey and served with a gorgeous sticky sauce with real depth of flavour, not to mention beautifully presented with edible petals (pink, of course). We could not believe this was vegan! The raw banoffee tart (£10with a raw almond base, salted date caramel & fresh banana pie served with ice cream was our second option. This was less of a favourite simply due to the base being far too hard to cut through but the flavours were still good.Kalifornia Kitchen is a super pretty vegan restaurant in Bloomsbury that serves food that tastes as good as it looks. We loved the effort that has gone into creating dishes that are every bit as enjoyable as their non vegan counterparts. The Instagrammable nature of the place (yes there is a PINK spiral staircase insidemake this a perfect spot for a catch up brunch/dinner with friends or for taking a vegan friend who wants to indulge in everything from cake to burgers without hesitation! They have opened in Fulham Market Halls too so perfect if you are based West.
Best burger and fries I’ve had, vegan or not. Great ambiance
Delicious rainbow bowl, and I just want to go back and try everything on the menu. Beautiful place, really attentive staff, my water glass was always topped up. Really want to try the tacos and the burgers looked very tasty. Review #2 will probably happen soon!
I have to say, this is such a pink place ! I love it. Adding to that, everything is vegan. So that means, there is no meat, fish, eggs or dairy. Please be aware of this when you go there. You should book before going for big places. The staff was very nice and had a lot of personality. The food looked very good and also taste very good as well.I recommend this place !
This place was recommended by a friend “it is sooo pink” is all that I knew about it. My partner and I were near by and recalled this place so we decided to give it a go. We came in really early it was just after 11, and we didn’t realise that we had to pick from breakfast menu. We really wanted to try some of the meals from the normal menu but were told that they only start serving that after 12. We had scrambled tofu on toast and mushroom on toast. After 12 we ordered desserts. Everything was beautifully presented, the place was clean, the only downside was the service. The service was not horribly bad, but things like greeting customers on arrival need to be improved and at least pretending to care would be nice.
Food is great. Place is chilled. Waitresses/the people that work there aren’t prepared for the public coming in for the main attraction: the spacial design. If you don’t want your customers to try photograph or take photos on the pink stairs, and you start pulling ugly faces, I suggest you tell the owner to paint the stairs white. Food is great and all but most care for the shop if its beachy delicate design and the colour. The outside colour = pink is what attracts most customers, as there are food places just next to the shop that are completely empty while you guys are busy. It’s also super wrong to have a water bottles and cups next to the stairs as waitresses block the stairs from people going up and down. Be more encouraging towards the people who want to record the place because social media and photos is what will attract future customers, I’m sure that’s why the place is pink.
Really disappointed by this place. The menu is pretty bland, like nothing exciting or so original on it. The tacos are good but far too much cabbage in them. The burgers are the b12 mountain ones which you can seemingly get from any other restaurant in town and are at a premium of 15 quid. Had to ask for tap water. The smoothies were room temperature and not chilled. The rainbow bowl i ordered was good if your into dry stuff like falafel and quinoa and cabbage. Didnt bother with dessert which I normally order 1 of everything. Wish I could have got the breakfast burrito, from photos it looks amazing. Probably not a place for dinner but more brunch.
Trendy decor, delish food - pulled jackfruit was flawless! - great service and location.
Possibly the best vegan burger I’ve had in a restaurant. Great flavour, great texture. Haven’t had many like it. It was admired by my carnivore friends too.The place is beautifully decorated in pink and gold, and operates like a well oiled vegan machine. All in all a great experience . You may need to book a table before arrival as it is getting really popular. The coffee was excellent too, unlike most places in London.
Totally instagrammable place with green velvet chairs, cute wall accents and photos, neon lighting, patterned wallpaper, mirrors and a faux fireplace. Plus gold plated cutlery. All female customers haha. Bonus points bc they are dog-friendly, do food for takeaway and have outlets to charge your phone. I got seated straightaway but service was a bit hit or miss after; I had to flag a server to take my order and I saw tables around me waiting a bit for servers.I got the buckwheat and banana pancakes and have to say I’m confused about another’s review (and taste budsthat they were tasty. Because they weren’t: my pancakes were served cold and really weren’t that flavourful. I mean it wasn’t bad but nothing special save for the almond brittle sprinkled atop.I got the jackfruit tacos and the turmeric tofu and spinach on toast for takeaway. I had the toast for breakfast the next AM and whilst the bread was quite nice the tofu and spinach portion was too small for the price tag IMO.But that tacos I had for lunch were awesome. Very juicy jackfruit that was bursting with flavour. So overall a mixed experience.
Really cool new place in Soho. Full of girls and vegan.
Really good vibe and service and food good too. Pity the veggie burgers are not gluten free. The wild mushrooms on toast is a bit dry, but the banana pancakes with coconut yogurt is really yummy. So is the kale fries. A must try place.
Unfortunately quite disappointing. Food was below average and had to wait for 50min. Only reason to go is to take a few shots for Instagram....
Had a great dinner with friends from Canada, London, Israel and Germany - excellent service, nice menu, pleasant atmosphere. Good for Kalifornia Kitchen showing how upscaling vegan is not so hard. (Let’s go London!)A definite repeat.
The burger here will be awesome for meat lovers or vegans who really miss meat. I am on of those who struggle to eat meat alike food and I REALLY struggled to eat this burger! It looks so much like meat, I found it gross. The restaurant is super cute and service very friendly... if I ever come back I will definitely not order the burger.
I’m not a vegan, in fact I rarely eat anything healthy and didn’t recognise many of the things in my dish, but it was bloody lovely!I had the rainbow bowl and we also had the Caesar salad. Ordered sweet potato fries and they brought regular ones which they immediately apologised for and brought the right ones, letting us keep the others. Will 100% be back. Apparently will be starting a fine dining menu soon too
Fairly limited menu with same themes of vegetables throughout...felt like you were eating the same food over and over again beit it a wrap or salad or taco.Based on food alone, 2/5. Ambience and beaty music 3/5.Maybe worth checking out for pinky Instagram pics, but not particularly memorable for the food. No identity.
“Healthy Is Sexy” - Kalifornia Kitchen, that’s what they said, and they are so damn right! ✅Plant based or not, if you want to experience new, very tasty, delicious and healthy food this is the best place! 👌🏼The environment is so nice, cool, green, with good music and positive vibes. Plus for those who want to make some nice pics for the social media platforms, again this is the perfect place! So, yes highly recommended Kalifornia Kitchen for any special or not special occasion!
Service was excellent. Food amazing! The decor is gorgeous too!
