A former prison of pain and despair transformed into a new beautiful apartments and tourist destination. A must visit destination! Also the restaurant ( former belongings store roomsis wonderful with great food ☺️

The ambience is excellent and the rooms are done in the latest Scandinavian style with dark colours. The food was very nice as well. The prices are on the higher end but well worth it

The hotel has successfully kept the jailhouse in it. The breakfast was better than with average hotels

Amazing! Loved tje "vibe" and weirdly enough doesnt give of any haunted vibes at all haha. But great service and even better accomodation. On eof the absolute best hotels ive been at in my life!

Currently the area is under construction and development, but it looks like it is going to be a beautiful area.

Nicely illumminated place. Easy to reach with Funicular. Everything closed due to covid19.

Nice area in Turku. Not so crowded. A Bakery, restaurant and brewery are there.

Couple of nice cafes, nice views and unique atmosphere. If funikular works the trip is fun, but climbing up and down really makes the difference

We had the "big feast" menu and we had a lot of delicious food. At the beginning the portions seems a bit small but at the end was hard to finish all the food! Our autumn menu included seasonal vegetables like pumpkin, mushroom, kale and Brussels sprouts. I didnt have the wine but the starter blueberry cocktail was also very good! :-)

Nicely renovated place preserving the former prison atmosphere. Too bad I didnt visit after the prisoners had moved out and before the renovation started. The food is excellent in the restaurant.

Liked it! The day construction is done this place could be 5 stars even. Interesting to see and beautiful views on the top.

Looks like a regular residential area with a bunch of construction. Paid for an hour of parking but left after 20 minutes as there was nothing really to read or see. I heard the bakery was great but was surprised that it was closed on a Tuesday. May come back again after a year or two to see if the area can be considered a tourist landmark.

Old jail turned into pricey apartments.

Very cosy and friendly cafe withing historically grim house: prison managers villa next to the most notorious prison in Finland. Hand on experience on 19th century solitary confinement.

Not so much to see but an old prison. Not point of view on the city. Plus side the bakery is very nice.

Old prison area converted into housing. Lots of dead end walking paths. So choose your route wisely.

Super interesting mix of the old jail complex and new developments. Will be very trendy in a year or two.

excellent area for walking and dinner

This is hilarious small little ride, the funicular either works or not, I had loads of fun time with my kids (many timeswhen we visited my parents in Finland this summer for holidays 😂

You must check out the mens toilet doors. Because of space restrictions they had to come up with non-functional design.

We took the modern funicular to top of the hill to see old prison and beautiful views!

Nice modern lift. Quite fun break in sightseeing. Appreciate that such a nice attraction is for free.

Went to try out the new funicular, which seems a rough ride when and if in operation 😆

Nice and modern new part of the city, with lot of history. Worth a visit or two!

Recently opened, can be crowded but still can ride Funicular pretty fast.

Well worth the visit. Good restaurant, brewery. Spa and bakery will be here from 2020. The whole place has a nice vibe to it. And the funicular ride is also nice.

Top of the hill. Walk to Aura river and back gives a good start for a day.

This plece is perfect for picknic, or 4 just to chill out. Top of the Turku day and night🌞🌛

We found this place with help from friends. We love the food and service, environment all that. Only minus was that they get water bottle on the table without telling that it cost 3€, thats not normal in Finland.

It was a prison. Now is a residential complex. Beautiful. Great panorama of the city

Veri nice apartementos hotel. Newly built and near city center.

Nice atmosphere and good drinks. Toilettes only in containers outside.

Very nostalgic and maybe little bit scary. I felt peaceful.
