Great food, good service but the seating along the emmense bar table is awful. The acoustics in the Ned are awful at the best of times but this was horrendous. If you want to talk to someone, then dont go here.

Fantastic venue for a business dinner or catching up with friends. Very warm and welcoming with tables in view of the live music. Kaia serves a range of Japanese inspired food, predominantly sushi but also warm dishes of both meat and fish. I had the lamb cutlets which were excellent as always. A warning though, my friend who does not have alcohol had a tricky time choosing a warm meal as pretty much everything has mirin (rice winein it.

I have booked a table for dinner last night and unfortunately need to express my disappointment... The drinks arrived while we almost finished the starter. One of the drinks was requested without ice and upon return it was just strained and placed into another glass while still being very cold which was not the point of requesting a drink without ice... The waiting staff seemed not to have an overview of whats going on and needed to rush to the table while the mains were being delivered to clean the empty plates as the table was too small to fit everything. I felt judged upon ordering tap water and not a bottled one. After requesting a bill which we wanted to split by 2 we were asked to make the calculations ourselves. The food and drinks were good, but the overall experience was far from what I would have expected.

A rather mediocre experience. The food is good, but nothing extraordinary. Service is fine but nothing special. The Ned venue is cosy overall, so points for that. However, all in all, would not recommend.

I was so impressed by the value for money with this beautiful poke bowl. The seating (high shared tableswon’t be for everyone, though I think there are some normal tables too. Very much recommend this dish! Plus enjoying the bar at The Ned afterwards.

The BEST sushi I’ve ever had… and I’ve had a lot haha. Highly recommend the tuna sashimi, it’s was such a fine cut of fish, practically melted in the mouth. My dad treated me here for lunch and we left with big smiles and full stomachs

Nice place but a bit dated and dark.....food was good ......limited options with no halal option at all.....The place is more like a student dinning hall with lots of noise especially the band.... bang in the middle giving a headache...wrong idea to have a band in the middle.of a hall....useless and should be removed.

Stunning interior and building, the restaurant service was very good, dishes nice but lacking in flavour. In my opinion the dishes are over priced for what you get, you really are paying for the privilege rather than quality of food.

Fantastic service delivered by the team here. Even though the allocated time was 90 minutes, they have us extra time. The restaurant was understandably busy, and I can see why its so popular. A great selection available on the menu. I would recommend it to any foodie, as we as those out on a date. Its set within a historic building. Ill no doubt be returning to visit the other restaurants.

A really positive experience at Kaia on a busy Saturday evening. The waiter was knowledgable in the menu and answered all the questions we had. The food itself was presented really well. The portions may look small but there is more in those bowls than you think. Cocktails are tasty and service was very fast. Food was prepared fresh and quick to come out, the kitchen is open so you can see it being prepared depending on where you sit. Its a somewhat relaxed eatery based on the seating set up, but the food is definitely of a high quality. Ill definitely eat here again - though there are many other options in The Ned which are also on my list.

Having read reviews was a bit apprehensive but the food at Kaia was delicious. Perhaps a bit much mayo for a healthyish place. The atmosphere was amazing, buzzing with people. I do wish they had a cloakroom, my coat is too expensive to hook under the bar like that! I wasnt paying so cant say if it was value for money, but I can say it was excellent food.

Massively over-priced. Food average at best, and we tried a great deal including the £65 sharing platter. Furthermore I realise we are all trying to leave the pandemic behind but it is still somewhat annoying that they bring one small bowl of each sauce for guests to share. And nowhere to leave coats! In summary unimpressed by the food, the service and the ambience.

I do love Asian cuisine, sushi in particular, and I have to say this is easily some of these best tasting and quality Ive had. Pro tip, try to get seated at the bar where its being prepared, chef might make you a few complimentary dishes and add some special touches to what you order. All the rolls I had were delicious, but do try nigiri six ways, its astounding. I also highly rated the semi fatty tuna. I know full fatty is the higher delicacy but I prefer semi fatty, that might make me a peasant but I dont care 😂 regardless, its excellent here. My favourite sushi restaurant.

Beautiful venue but food does not live up to expectations given the price. Spicy aubergine was watery and tasteless, the chef selection sushi had the rice on the chewier side. The best dish was the miso chocolate mousse (which was described as a brulee albeit had no crust whatsoever).Waiter to diner ratio is too low, our waitress was visibly stressed.

I agree with the previous reviews, the dishes are slightly overpriced. Apart from that the food was tasty. I chose some tuna rolls with ponzu sauce as starter they were really fresh and light. My partner had fried chicken and it was really tasty. As main I opted for the aubergine and some coconut rice which were fine, nothing amazing for the price but it was tasty. My partner had (thanks to the other reviewsthe black cod and it was truly the highlight of the dinner, the texture was particularly enjoyable. Finally, for dessert I chose the pineapple with coconut and lime sorbet which was a nice and light way to end the meal, whilst he had a selection of 3 ice creams mochis that he did enjoy too. Tbh the dessert are really overpriced but we were too tempted to try. I would still recommend that place but the room can be quite noisy so definitely not the best for a romantic date.

Amazing place to eat real Asian food. It tastes so much better. Reminds you of why the world at times don’t really care about Wagamama or other chains. The ingredients in the food make such a difference!Tried their vegetarian options & it’s probably the best miso soup I have had! Rainbow poke bowl is surprisingly filling!!

One of the greatest Japaneese restaurants in London. The food is fantastic (big fan of the back cod and esparagus). The service is the Ned is always super British, with very high standards. It is a bit pricey but it worths it.

Good food in a great atmosphere. Excellent service, and tasty vegetarian options. The vegetable dishes from the grill were delicious and filling, especially the mushrooms! For the price though I wouldve liked more comfortable seating. (There are no backrests. There are also no hooks under the bar to hang bags from.

Food was average at best. We had to send back the wagyu steak. It was cooked well beyond medium. Ive never been to an establishment where they would cook wagyu in such a way.The plates with red meat werent fresh (obviously old inventory).Only saving grace was the miso cod, which was delightful. Otherwise, 1 star for the price we paid.On two occasions (different waitersruined our table. The first time, the waiter spilt sauce all over our table and nearly ruined my wifes dress. The second time a waitress cleared our table and broke a wine glass. Fortunately no glass shards harmed us. On both occasions the staff members didnt apologise or acknowledge their error. For close to £100pp spent, I wont be coming back. At a fraction of the price, we had many better dining experiences at Michelin restaurants in London .

Hawaiann & Japanese fusion food. I enjoyed the vibes and their JFC was as great as its name! The only thing was that probably because it was busy, the waiters were quite pushy to take orders or empty plates from us and it made me feel uncomfortable, and they were quite strict with the time. I wanted to relax a little bit during the stay.

The staff were amazing, I could not fault them one bit. Very polite and helpful, food was nice but not wow, prices are reasonable. Only thing I felt uncomfortable with was the squashed tables, no hand sanitiser and no social distancing at all. This was a little scary as Covid is still very much alive

Met a friend here for a late lunch. Beautiful surroundings, as you would expect from The Ned, and attentive service. The menu boasts ‘healthy eating’. We both had the Rainbow poké bowl - vibrant colours and taste - then shared Black Cod, Teriyaki Salmon, some asparagus and steamed rice.Really well-cooked flavoursome food - at a reasonable price, given the location.

I really liked Kaia, the food was well presented, tasty and the atmosphere of this grand venue was quite spectacular. The service was also good, the waiter was attentive, but not disturbing. Why only 4 and not 5 stars? Well... Kaia is great and the food great, but not wow. Would I come back Yes!

So... Having looked at other reviews, I was quite prepared for bad service at Kaia, but it really was laughable. I was the first to arrive and confirmed we were there for afternoon tea. Then it was only after everyone arrived that we were offered drinks - even water - which wasnt a great start. Next we sat there for 45 minutes being ignored by all the waiters. Eventually we collared one and asked where our food was. Some excuse about us not ordering but it wasnt like someone came to try. Quickly someone took our tea orders and the food arrived shortly after. It was all very tasty but definitely could have been more savoury treats and less macha cakes. All-in-all I dont think id recommend Kaia; very poor service, not blown away by the food, and considering the booze was quite expensive (£45 bottle of Proseccoyou did get what you paid for at a mere £30/p for the afternoon tea. The Ned itself was very cool - almost like dining on the Titanic. So that was nice.

Had lunch with a couple of friends yesterday. The food was lovely, fresh, colourful and tasty. I decided to write a review for my blog so took lots of photographs, Ive posted some here so you can see what we ate. The Veggie Poke Bowl was delicious. Loved the tempura popcorn. I also tried the Matcha Cheesecake which went down a treat!!! My friend Peter said his Miso was a bit on the salty side. He said the Japanese Chicken was okay. He loved the Crispy Prawns though. The interiors are beautiful thanks to the 1920s decor vibe. Staff very professional. Impeccable service. Ideal if you are visiting St Pauls or you work in the city and have a business lunch. I would definitely go back again.

We had the Feast on Sunday £45 including a welcome drink which we thought was good value for the quality food. The food selection was great, sushi and sashimi was fresh and probably the best in London that we’ve had! Service was warm and being inside the Ned it’s always a lovely experience. The only minor thing is that the space is a bit limited so walking to and from the food dodging waiters and customers was a bit awkward.

Nice spot for a poke bowl/sushi. The are many eating options in The Ned, and this is perhaps one of the more casual restaurants here. Prices are slightly at a premium given its The Ned, but its not too bad. The fish and ingredients are fresh. Great place for a quick bite!

Seated at a large countertop in the large open area of the hotel lobby that contained many restaurants and bars. Asked for seats and told it would be one and a half hours until available, but then went on opentable and booked one available in 45 minutes. Service was ok. The Tuna poke bowl, Teriyaki Salmon and Corn were very nice. I wasnt so impressed with the Edamame beans in chili sauce or either of the Waygu beef dishes. Was a tad pricey for what we got.

Seating was on high stools at bar like tables. Quite tightly backed so no privacy which was a good excuse to chat to your neighbours! Loved the bag hook at each stool. A nice touch. Overall, attentive waiting staff with beautifully presented yet delicately flavoured food. Highly recommend the wagyu beef starter and salmon poke. Ned groni was awesome and the plum sake was out of this world!
