Kahuzi-Biega National Park - National park in Demba, DR Congo
Kahuzi-Biega National Park in Demba
Description
Privilege
I will still put it 5 stars despite the masquerade with face masks.
The Kahuzi-Biega National Park in Bukavu, DR Congo is home to Lowland Gorillas. Even though the road to Gorilla trekking is not good, the Gorillas are always available to welcome visitors nearby the road. Sometimes, the trekking may last up to 1hour depending on the location of Gorillas. But definitively, the lowland Gorillas are more easy to trek.

MoreI absolutely loved my experience at Kahuzi Biega National Park. The people at the park were incredibly helpful. They picked us up from the Rwandan border and drove us to the park. They cooked us food and put us in a great place. You can tell they really cared about making sure we had a good time. We spent three days there, going to see habituated and not habituated gorillas.I went with my mom who had problems with mobility due to her age. Seeing how we aren’t always on a trail and have to trample through the Congolese forest, it would have been very difficult but the rangers were super helpful. They helped her especially, which was very nice of them. When we saw the gorillas they did all they could for us to get good pictures and see all of them. They really made the experience extremely worthwhile.I 100% recommend going here. I felt super safe and cared for. I love how the rangers here care a lot for their gorillas and the people who come to see them.
MoreWe visited the gorilla park in congo and it was beyond our expectations. We saw the gorillas family from a short distance, like 2 meters. The ranger explained about the difference between the mountain gorillas and the valley gorillas. The park is well organized and it worth it. Highly recommend and the price is affordable.
MoreWhatta day... Never in my life have I seen such thick jungle.. If the secondary forest is like what we experienced, I just cant imagine how thick and dense the primary forest is ‼️Hats off to the brilliant coordination of the pigmy trackers.. The signal connect they communicate with is par excellence and gives so much of an insight..Bonnanie.. I fell in love with his sheer size and compose.. Oh Whatta a lovely fella.. The only thing I missed is a want to hug him.. Wishful thinking 😂😂 I thought he wanted to at one point, but I had to hurriedly turn back 😂😂The walk across the marshy swamp will remain my most memorable after the Bonnanie family himself 💪❤️

MoreThe possibility of seeing the greatest apes on the planet is available only in this park in DRC - an unforgettable experience. Thanks to the work and professionalism of the rangers in the park youll be able to track gorillas and see them at a distance of only around 6/7meters. An incredible experience to get closer to those majestic creatures.

J’adore bien!
MoreNice Park I like it
Ce parc est un trésor pour lhumanité !
Want to see gorillas? This is the place to go. It is cheaper to see them here than in Uganda or Rwanda, and the staff do their very best to make you have the best time possible. We crossed via the land border between Rwanda and Congo, which was relatively painless. I did not feel unsafe once in my time in the Congo or Kahuzi-Biega. Again, go here, support the local economy, and help gorilla conservation.
MoreEspecially for Gorilla Monkeys attraction. Owner of this National Park is very dedicated.
MoreThe Kahuzi-Biega National Park offers an incredible access to a beautiful biodiversity. While the incredible experience of meeting wild gorillas is the main attraction and definitely worth it! Its important to highlight that security and safety for both visitors and gorillas are taken very seriously by the park staff. On top of that, staff and guides are very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the park and its wildlife.
MoreThis park is truly a treasure and will provide all of its guests with an experience of a lifetime. The tropical forest itself is breathtaking. Its dense vegetation makes for a challenging and exciting trek on its own, but experiencing the Eastern Lowland Gorillas is truly remarkable. The closeness and intimacy you can have with the gorillas is incredible. The park rangers are amazing guides and extremely knowledgeable and professional. It will be an experience I will treasure forever. I implore anyone that can to go to this magical place to do so. Without visitors the brave Rangers who preserve and protect this wonderful park can not be paid and the gorillas and the park itself would be in jeopardy.
MoreIncroyable Parc.
MoreIt was great to visit Kahuzibyega
Guide took us to see a smaller group with a newborn baby and got to see it! Silverback had just been in a fight with a neighboring male and was pretty cut up. I got to watch as he was cleaning his wounds and was wondering how he felt. He was already hurt, and with another attack he could lose everything that very day. When the neighboring male returned and called from the bushes nearby, the silverback responded with a howl: he was ready to fight. The Eastern Lowland Gorillas are completely separate from Mountain Gorillas, and there is only one silverback in each family group which is different from the mountain gorillas. The eastern lowland gorillas are in danger from poaching and conflict in the area and need your support to maintain a survivable population. The guide and gards take incredible measures to keep you and the gorillas safe. There is a road bisecting the park so there is less of a hike in to get to the gorillas. The boat ride across Lake Kivu and the accomodations are spetacular.

MoreLast weekend we went gorilla trekking in Kahuzi-Biega National Park. It was such an incredible experience! The staff and park rangers were friendly and respectful. It was very clear that they truly cared about the park, the wildlife and preserving the environment. As well, the rangers were proud of their work and enjoyed sharing the park with us. We felt safe and secure the entire time. The gorillas were absolutely magnificent. I would do it again in a heart beat! Thank you Kahuzi-Biega!!

Have not brn there but have interest. Information acquired seems interesting.
Designated as a National Park in 1970 with an area of 750 square kilometres, Kahuzi-Biega is essentially two impressive extinct volcanoes, Kahuzi (9,153ftand Biega (1,085ft). The park has diverse and abundant fauna but was created primarily to preserve the habitat of the gorillas. The pair of volcanoes are the two highest peaks in the Mitumba Range along the western shore of Lake Kivu in the Great Rift Valley. Dian Fossey, the American zoologist started her work in this park with these animals. In 1975 the park was increased to 6,000 square kilometres to include the watershed and tributaries of the Luka and Lugulu Riers, and the connecting belt of mountain valleys.Travelling in this area isnt safe at present. If youre looking for mountain gorillas then consider visiting Parc des Volcans in Rwanda or Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda as an alternative to Kahuzi-Biega until the situation changes.
