Amazing Experience self driving in the national park. Some routes couldnt be taken because of the season but we got to see many elephants(Quite aggressive so dont get too closewe saw some lions and buffaloes, puku, zebra, birds and many creatures. We where pretty lucky to have found all these animals right along the main stretch

A great place for getting away from civilization. Peaceful, but by no means quiet - theres always the chirping of one bird or another or the incessant cry of a hornbill (our son thought it was the cry of a human baby! And of course, at night theres the occasional roar of a lion. The camp staff at Mayukuyuku camp said the lions were within 500 metres of our tent! The game-drives were good and the small downside is that some roads are not accessible during this (rainseason, so the number of animals to be seen is potentially reduced.

One of the most diverse parks in Africa and second in size, Kafue is a great park to visit when in Zambia. A must visit is the Busanga Plains area. The vast plains with free roaming wildlife is a wonderful experience.Excepting the Busanga Plains, Game is more abundant in South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi.

Huge park, some areas sadly too disturbed by poaching, not many people in the park, you wont be crowded at a sighting as in many other parks. I had an exceptional weekend, saw 4 leopards, 5 lions and 2 hyenas

Always loved this park. Plenty to see and do and by choice, not do. Being in the swimming pool and seeing antelopes and warthog walk by, elephants, and the hippos with their laughs makes everything great. Be overly prepared for tsétsé flies, they are the most aggressive animals in the park. And you will see, feel and remember plenty of them if not prepared!

We stayed on the southern part of the park where chances of citing big cats are pretty difficult. Elephants, species of antelopes, wild boars visible in abundance. Few zebras were also seen.

Kafue NP is truly wild and largely unexplored. This is a positive, if you are well prepared and want a unique experience. If, however, you are looking to do a "quick" game-drive on your own, this is not the place. The roads are mostly very poorly maintained and there are no signs or maps provided. I tried to get some guidance on distances from the rangers at the entrance gate, which turned out to be completely wrong. Nevertheless, if you know what youre in for, this is an amazing park.

A real wilderness this park. Sometimes hard to find the animals as the park has the size of a small country, but game viewing can be very rewarding. Recently a lioness with 5 (!cubs! Best time to visit in the dry season and visit the centre of the park as well as the Busanga plains in the north. Amazing experience!

Great place and Green Safaris you are in the nature. Watch out for elephants and hippos lurking in the bushes. If you are visiting for safari, choose the time you visit making sure it is in dry season, otherwise the tall grasses and thick bushes will spoil your safari.

Kafue National Park gives you that Real African Safari from my experience. From the South to the North of the Park there is so much to see with a wide array of Game big and small with fantastic birding over 495 species recorded and some of the best fishing along the way.The stand out memories of Southern Kafue were the herds of Sables. Then going further North you reach Lake Itezhi-Tezhi where you start come across the larger game Buffalo and Elephants which start to increase in numbers. The birdlife around the Lake is stunning and the area is so unspoilt and still no crowds of tourists.Going further North the Wildlife increases and easily for me the highlights were the Lions of Busanga Plains and a boat trip down the Kafue River where we saw Buffalo, Elephants crossing the river a pride of Lions basking in the sun on the rivers edge and to make it 4 out of the big 5 two leopard sightings. When anyone asks me where to go for a REAL Safari I say Kafue National Park

The Kafue River is the lifeblood, but away from its banks there are a wide variety of woodlands as well as open grasslands. These host a diverse array of wildlife species including over 150 different mammals along with an amazing 470 species of bird. Visiting the various habitats of the park is strongly recommended.Huge herds of red lechwe are found on the Busanga plains along with puku, sable and roan antelope in the woodlands, along with most of the other species of antelope. Large prides of lion are also in the area as a result of the great numbers of antelope and anything left by lion is predated on by leopard and cheetah. The rivers offer excellent fishing for bream, barbel and fresh water pike. Most of the camps offer canoeing activities as well as fishing and fly camping. Excellent birding is experienced throughout the region and species seen include the Pel’s fishing owl, wattled crane and Lady Ross Turaco.
