Καφενείο Η παλιά Αγορά - Restaurant in Náousa, Greece
By far my favorite restaurant. The meze’s are incredible (best meatballs and dolmas on the island in my opinion and I’ve tried them both everywhere I’ve gone)! The anchovies, fish salad, Greek salad and chickpeas were good too!
We dined here in early September. We arrived right as they opened at 6pm and were surprised to see there was already around 10 people waiting for tables. We were seated immediately at a table on the street which was beautiful and fun for people watching. We ordered the octopus, stuffed zucchini with shrimp, grape leaves, and a cheese spread that seemed similar to a labneh. This place is no frills - no fancy candles or table settings, but they dont need them since the food speaks for itself. It was a little heavier than some of our other meals, but everything was delicious. We enjoyed getting to try authentic and affordable Greek food. Go early to avoid the wait!
Amazing authentic greek food from Paros
Honestly one of the best traditional greek food weve had during our stay in Greece. Meatballs were light and tasty, so was the octopus!Pro-tip, arrive a bit earlier than opening and have a drink down the street. 15min before opening there should be a small line of a few people, just wait and it will be less hectic than walking-by afterwards.
This is such a lovely taverna in Naoussa. It’s in the old part of the town with the dinning area in the lane ways. The menu is small with a variety of omnivore and vegetarian options. All the dishes we tried with great, especially the octopus in wine was delicious.Staff were very friendly and made recommendations based on your preferences. We arrived at 7 when they opened and we’re seated right away. By 7:30 there was a small lineup.
Lovely delicious small plates- highly recommend the stuffed onions washed down with a 56 isles lager. Great service and worth the wait 😊
Service is AWFUL. The unfriendliest people ever serving in a restaurant, they seem irritated and in a hurry while serving you, looking somewhere else while you talk to them to give you rude single word answers. You will never receive a smile BUT you will receive the BEST traditional Greek food in Paros by far. I can say with full confidence that this was the best food I’ve had in two weeks in Greece. I would give them 5 starts if a restaurant would be only about food. I believe a good service is half of the experience and that’s why i give them 3 stars.
Stunning food, its inexpensive but that does not mean cheap. Its high quality stuff delivered at affordable prices. Chickpeas were the best I have ever eaten. Rest was amazing too- flavourful and nothing felt heavy. They dont take reservations ( rightly so), so worth queuing.
Waited about 45 minutes in the queue starting at 9pm. So worth it. Foodgasm with everything we ordered. Meatballs were the best. tzazizi was the best we had in all of Greece, onions stuffed with meat and eggplant was also to die for.Again, worth the wait and totally fair prices. About 7 EUR per dish
If you see people waiting in line, dont let that put you off. The food here deserves any wait!Authentic food, great service, great atmosphere. It’s one of the best places to eat in Naoussa in my opinion.
Ordered multiple dishes recommended on this site. Only enjoyed the Octopus in red wine and the Greek salad. The rest was very average and not worth the money. Couldn’t taste any meat in the meatballs. Wouldn’t go back.
Walking through the winding streets you may overlook this hidden gem. Definitely a place to try out (come early - before 7, to avoid waiting in line). The food was incredible, great tastes and simple honest food Greek food. The octopus in red wine was a winner for me.
This place is an institution. Quiet, unassuming, with menu that hasn’t changed in years. But everything is always fresh, tasty and very decently priced. The chickpeas, onions stuffed with rice and meat and stuffed zucchinis are my favourites.
What can I say, the other reviews don’t lie. Great veggie options, too. Come early and grab a table as soon as they open at 07:00PM. It’s popular for a reason and the wait can get extremely long if you come after 7:30PM.
Great small & tasty plates, nice beer and wine, friendly service. Can see why it’s a top 3 rated restaurant in Naousa!
The waiting line is totally worth it ! If you don’t want to wait, you can call and book a table. Once you make it there, I strongly recommend the spicy cheese, meatballs, eggplant with cheese, zucchini doughnut !
Incredible quality of the dishes and very friendly and particularly responsive staff (even though the location was in full capacity). Only downside is the waiting time, but to be expected due to hiw popular the place is. Definately recommended and would visit it again.
There is often a queue here so you might want to get there earlier than you plan to eat but its worth it. Great food and excellent service.
We had dinner there 2 nights in a row, as it was so good on the first night that we wanted to try more dishes. There is always a queue but it moves quickly – we only had to wait around 15 minutes to be seated. All the dishes we tried were delicious and the service is excellent, we even received a small complimentary dessert on both nights
This was my favorite restaurant in Naoussa! Food was super delicious and everything we tried was great. From all the Greek salads and tzatziki I ate in Greece - here were the best ones. I also loved the chickpeas and the octopus in wine which were literally melting in your mouth! Highly recommend! They don’t take reservations so you either have to go early to get seated straight away or usually wait time is around 30min, but honestly it’s worth it! Would just skip the grilled octopus as was a bit tough to chew like everywhere in Greece.
Awesome food, great service, reasonable price. Typical Greek fare with outdoor seating in the beautiful streets of Naousa. Be prepared to queue, but it’s worth it
I could not get a table the first day. Then the second day I decided to wait.I was surprised about the food, the best place I eat in naoussa.I recomend it. You should go there to tried because have a nice tasty.
Best traditional Greek food in Paros! Definitely worth the wait if you need to line up. The κεφτέδες were amazing!!!
Reservation not possible...we went there because of the high rating and were a bit disappointed.Zuchiniballs were tasteless and needed salt. Even the Dakos salad was somehow strange and tasteless. Stuffed onions were ok but nothing speciall. Octopus in wine sauce was almost disgusting! Octopus had a strange combo of cinnamon and cloves and way too sweet. With beers it was 53 euros. It was cheaper then the other restaurants thats why it has such a high rating! But the taste of the food is really a bit below average.
Worth the waiting. Good Mezze’s. Don’t miss the octopus in wine sauce.
Great spot in Naousa, Paros... Always busy and they dont do reservations so arm yourself with patience because this place is totally worth it.Been there a few times over the years and the quality of the food is always the same...Personal favorites are the meatballs, chicken fricasé, stuffed onions, spicy cheese salad, hand cut fries...Christos, the owner, is always polite and the service is fast!5/5
This is a place to go to for real traditional Greek food. Not possible to make table reservation so be early or be prepared to que for a table. I would say it is worth the wait. Once getting a table the service is quick (not the most friendly due to fairly high tempo I guess). We really enjoyed the food and it’s location.
The best meal I’ve had in Greece hands down! The service was efficient and the food did not disappoint. I’m already planning my next visit. Super affordable for the quality of the food.
If you want Authentic greek food this is the place to eat, There is literally nothing on the menu thats not delicious, But our favourites would be the stuffed onions, out-of-the-world meatballs and fried Zucchini. dont fear the lineup its worth the wait, Best greek food in Paros.
Best food in Naousa, price, choice and service! Only visited twice because its so busy, either get there early or join the queue.
Have to either get here early (at 7to get a table or take your chances on waiting for a table later. The food as overall good - meatballs were herby and crisp, zucchini balls were fresh tasting, and the roast aubergine was excellent. The squid was a small letdown as they were large and a bit tough. Small dishes ~7€, dips ~€5 and fish plates €15-20.
This place is really colourfull and traditional. They serve standard tavern drinks and small plates and salads. Their food is really tasty, prices not extreme, while personel is really kind and accessible. I strongly appreciate to pay them a visit if you wish you meet authentic Greek culture and cuisine in Naousa.
Best restaurant in Naousa, we came here 3 nights in a row!! Very well priced and absolutely delicious traditional greek food. Definitely worth the wait.
Food was good and staff was nice. The meatballs here are really phenomenal. They are really well spiced and crispy on the outside. The octopus in wine sauce was pretty good, but the meatballs were really the star. For dessert, we were served what I think were dries grapes in a sweet syrup. Id never had it before, and it was quite good
We chose to go here based on reviewsThe service was good and the food was great.Like everywhere the wine is nice and cheap compared to other drinks. It is great to try lots of Greek flavours as the food is served like Meze/tapas although the portions are pretty big.We had 5 dishes between 2 and struggled to finish. Some flavours are very acquired as lots of herbs like dill which Im not used to.I would recommend the stuffed onions. It was very reasonably priced.I dont know how they cook so much in such a small kitchen.
Very nice place. Good centered location. Authentic food. Nice vegan options. We had bread, filled vine leafs, tomato balls and the chickpeas. We had good time there.
We waited 45 min till we got seated. The food was every second worth it! Rich taste for a very fair price and good service. Although the waiters were rushing around they took enough time for you. Will definitely come back.
Update 09/21:restaurant still extremely busy even at nearly endow September. Waiting time of over 45 but food as good as last year.Price still the same with some slightly increased, however it worths every penny! You must visit of you are on the island.Until next year...keep safeCame here after reading the reviews of others.we are 5 people and due to covid we were asked to sit in 2 different tables. Waiter could not have been more helpful and polite. The food is AMAZING,worth every penny and each single waiting minute. We had to wait for a while until we were taken to our tables. A MUST VISIT if u are in Naousa, highly recommended. The stuffed onions and the fried calamari to die for....
Best choice in Naoussa if you‘re looking for an authentic taverna with local cuisine and decent prices. No reservation policy, so there is always a queue in front but it‘s definitely worth the wait.A lot vegetarian options, try the fried zucchini balls, stuffed vine leaves, chickpeas (out of this world creamy!and the tomato salad with rye rusks. Good house wine, local beers.Places outside are either in the small and charming backstreets, or on the bigger street, where you can watch passers-by.
Excellent traditional Greek restaurant! We were there in September and it is very croweded. There are no reservations and you have to wait fot the table to free up. Tables are placed in very narow streets with limited space. But it is more than worth the wait. Food is perfect, fresh and tasty. Must try stuffed onions and chicken stew.
Small, unassuming coffee shop serving delicious traditional Greek appetizers. You must try the stuffed onions which were superb! Reasonably priced. Does not serve entrees. Get there early or you will have to wait (but even if you do it will be worth it!).
The best taverna in Naoussa. Authentic. Friendly owners and staff. Worth the wait if there’s a line!
Great place for delicious Greek tapas! We had the stuffed onion, filled eggplant, tomatoes with feta - all of them very good! Would recommend to come early, reservation is not possible.
Oh my god. We waited 1.5 hours in line for this, and trust me when I say, IT WAS WORTH IT. We got the stuffed vine leaves, chicken fricassee, and stuffed onions- all of it was madly incredible and absolutely delicious. Disclaimer: I also sent my husband out for a couple of beers when we started waiting, and that 15 min walk to the grocery store saved us from feeling annoyed that we had to wait for so long! Get a couple of tall boys and strap in- you’ll know the wait was worth it when you start tasting the food 😉😉
If I could give more stars I would! Traditional "kafeneion" in the heart of Naoussa. This is a hidden treasure of the island. Staff is super kind and even if we had to wait for some minutes to get our table, they made sure that everything will be fine for us!Try for sure the small kefte and the "dolma" dish.Thank you for this wonderful experience!
Lovely corner. Worth the wait for lovely greek tapas with nice prices! The staff is very kind. I would come here almost every day
The must-do culinary experience in Noussa. Just order 2/3 different dishes per person and share. Meatballs, chicken fricassee, tomato balls, it’s all amazing. Wash or down with some rosee wine and enjoy. Walk in only, no reservations.
Probably one of the best places to eat in Naousa. The food was amazing and the staff very friendly and polite. It could get a little cramped during pick times. Moneywise, it is not the cheapest place but it worths every euro!If you beleive this review has been helpful for you, please don’t forget to press the 👍 button. Thank you.
Yummy authentic Greek bites at an affordable price. Tip is to go when you are not really hungry so that you can bear the wait for the table. We thought to try after looking at the long queues. We were surprised with the menu as the portion was really good according to the price. Highly Recommend it :)
Wow! Delicious food, great value! There is a line, all the time, you just need to come before you are really hungry and order a drink while you wait, it is definitely worth it. Small dishes, traditional, very tasty. Friendly staff, great atmosphere.
