Kaeng Krachan National Park, a huge disappointment. After reading information online and in my travel guide, I was really looking forward to explore this beautiful national park. After a one hour ride from Phetchaburi, I reached the entry point to the park. Being a foreigner, my ticket was 300 baht, a reasonable price, at least thats what I thought at that moment in time. I reached the Ban Krang camping site, parked the car and started looking for trails into the forest, hoping to encounter interesting animals. I found one trail, which immediately required me to cross 2 streams and afterwards it was pretty much guessing where to go next. The only animals I came across, were annoying insects, no tropical birds, no monkeys, nothing worth my blood, sweat and tears in the humidity and heat of the forest. I got back at the camping site to discover there was nothing else to see or explore. Since the next camping site was only accessible by a 4 wheel drive, my adventure ended prematurely at the camping site. I truly wonder how on earth people are supposed to encounter elephants, leopards and other animals in this park (as stated online), there are hardly any trails or viewpoints and you wont find them on a campsite. Unless you enjoy camping in nature, avoid this national park, paying 300 baht for wandering around a campsite is not worth your time, Thailand has so much more to offer.

Thailands largest NP. A wonderful place for birding, butterflying, hiking and photography. Went mainly for birds and butterflies and KK provided plenty of both. Saw 42 new bird species w/pics of most and countless species of butterflies. Also 1 beautiful Monocled Cobra, which was an added thrill and bonus.

Very friendly staff and great place for camping and hiking also the small coffee shop and food are excellent, but cleanliness from showers and toilets are bad, why making a very expensive and nice concrete road if you not even can maintain the toilets and showers! Urgent need to improve this. But will return to the park.

this park has multiple entrances, and it seems reviews for the Pala-U waterfall and the main camping areas (Ban Krang, etc.are being conflated. These two entrances are far apart, and two totally different experiences that just happen to be in the same park. The waterfall is just that: a waterfall (and definitely not worth 300 baht. The camps are the real thing (worth 300 baht). See reviews for Ban Krang instead.

This is the biggest national park in Thailand. The trails have different levels and are suitable for all hikers. The wildlife is amazing. We saw a spotted leopard, an Asian foreat tortoise, dusky leaf monkeys, birds, and over 20 species of butterflies. The park fee entrance is 300 baht for foreigners and 100 baht for Thais. A long tail boat tour across the dam is highly recommended. The park is open from November to July every year. During COVID-19 only Ban Krang Campsite is open.

Quite disappointing. It’s called a national park but it’s basically just a camping site. Not so much tree around, ground is paved with beton and grass. Was thinking on visiting the suspension bridge, but to find out that the bridge is suspended, i.e. dismantled 🤣

Beautiful Park. Nice for a drive and found one nature trail that gives the feeling of walking through the forest.I have been spoiled though by US parks. I wish there were more trails where you could spend most of the day walking in the forest. In Kaeng Krachan only the main road and the one trail were for walking. Maybe there were more but no maps were available. Given the 300 baht entrance fee for non thais I dont think it is worth a repeat visit more than once a year.

I made the mistake of just searching the name of the national park on Google, then spent a long time trying to work out which part these reviews were talking about as Google Maps shows two separate destinations as Kaeng Krachan. Realized after visiting today that the northern destination of the two is in fact Pa La-U waterfall. Search for that on Maps for better information.

One of the best waterfalls in Thailand. Its quite long with many different levels, sections, swimming pools and is great for swimming. There are many large fish and they will try and bite you if you stand still, so swimming can be a little adventurous! Except a 30min hike to the bigger fall at level 5.

Very interesting place. The rapids of the waterfall are small, but beautiful, around the jungle. There are a lot of fish in the waterfall, the children really liked to feed them. Be careful in April there were a lot of wasps, my daughter was bitten by a wasp in the leg, local workers in the cafe said that they did not bite.

Definitely worth the visit for people who love nature and hikes, do note that its unlike sg macpherson treetop hike but a lot more rock and steep and the need to climb. Hiking shoes advised to be worth. The view there makes it worth every effort. Also do bring insect repellent (preferable organic ones if you intend to soak you feet, the water is really cooling and definitely worth the soak after a long hike)

Good place for a hike. There are 5 levels and each level has a beautiful waterfall. Bring change of clothes and towel and a waterproof camera. Its quite a slippery and dangerous hike at certain points so bring good sandals that you dont mind getting wet.

Attraction is the waterfall. It consists of 5 levels. Its not a single one, its a 5 step waterfall. People enjoy and relax in the water. Interesting jungle around. If a place for nice pics is expected than it might be not the right place. Especially if you have no Thai ID. In that case you have to pay 3x more than a local. We will visit that park not again.

I only go as far as the dam itself and it is exhilarating experience. If you wanna see Thailand in its natural state with a lot of thoughtful environmental project. You need to visit this place. Come in June, the sun is less extreme but you still can enjoy the full wind for an hour.

A lovely natural beauty. Lush green and water all around. Best time to go is early morning or late afternoon when the sun is mild. Boating on the dam a must. Sad part is that you hardly see any wildlife other than monkeys. Concept of wildlife trail is missing. But enjoy the views of the green mountains and clear water. If you are lucky clouds will descend on you when you are in the lake on a rainy day.

Discovered by accident, but just loved it! Going back later in march , taking my boat this time, I feel the need to explore more of this magnificent national park. Dont have your own boat? No worries there are plenty offering tours to the inaccessible places.

Very nice Park in wonderful nature surrounding, only one road through, half way paved and the second only with 4x4 car to go, depending on hours to go up or down. Beautiful views from top of the mountain, but it is recommended only for experienced Offroad drivers. Now many animals, no carnivores to see, some monkeys, lots of birds, snakes and lizards. Crowds with groups t Thai people on weekends, weekdays quite unbusy and easy to to... We love the fascinating atmosphere of the park, but it has nothing in common with African national parks

Amazing bird life and I would highly recommend visiting one of the many bird hides. 300 but pp and is worth every cent. I went in the off season and the bird life was still excellent. If your time is short skip the morning session and only go for the afternoon where you see majority of the bird life.

Get close to nature! This is my favorite national park in Thailand. There is ample wildlife, especially birds, butterflies and monkeys to see. The surroundings are beautiful, the campsites are well equipped. If you would like to see a beautiful view of the sunset and gaze at the stars, go up to Panoenthung campsite and viewpoint. The site is accessible only via a 4WD and my Nissan XTrail 4WD was just about adequate for the trip. Overall it was a great experience and I will definitely return.
