Very nice Japanese foodNothing fancy but definitely worth the money.Rice is too wet and all sticked together or I think it’s a 5 ⭐️

Fast and quick take out. Fresh food. Very tasteful. Presentation was amazing. Friendly staff. Best sushi place for late night munchies. 😍 What more could we ask for? Thank you!

Ordered delivery. Tiny portion sashimi, its laughable. The 5 pieces are similar to 2 or 3 pieces from any other average place downtown. The fish itself doesnt feel like sashimi grade and was a bit mushy, no bite to it at all. The ginger had a weird white grime on it not sure what that was, and the wasabi was runny and soggy and gross.The shrimp cheese dumplings were okay at best. Dumplings were practically empty and not very flavorful. Not recommended at all.

Updating my post from 2 years ago!Went yesterday. (Oct 2022they were a bit late to open because theyre under new management.Nothing to be concerned about! Just as tasty with a revamped menu and great service.Ill be back! As I always am.Nice to see the continuity from one owner to the next.

First time back since covid. This used to be a favorite place but its changed a lot. Service was subpar. With the number of people working there we waited a while to sit at one of the many open tables. Waiter got our order wrong (it happens). No one offered to refill our tea until we were getting up to pay. The rolls used to be amazing but are now just ok. Specialty rolls are half the diameter they used to be. I used to tell people order one less than normal there. Cant say that anymore. Wasnt terrible but wasnt great either overall.

This is one of the best sushi places Ive been to. Excellent customer service and food is great.

Terrific fiod, fast servce. We had sushi box, came with excellent sashimi, tempura shrimp, gyoza and more. Meal was everything we hoped for.

We had dinner here in August 2022. We hadn’t booked a table and wanted to try sushi in Vancouver to compare, since the sushi we had before in Calgary wasn’t that good (we find the rice very sticky most of the times)… We were very surprised because the rice was actually good and the fish very fresh! We’re giving it 3 stars because the restaurant is not comparable to other 4 stars’ we were at and the service was rushy (they kept taking big plates to a table for two and trying to fit it in…). If you’re not looking for a “fancy pants”-kind-of-place, we recommend this for its food quality and also agility (quick service).

Is with a broken heart that I give one star today because I love this place, for years we go there at least once a week, however there is a new server that keep messing up our orders and dont even apologize for it. For the second time, today we order sushi. no avocado because we are allergic, when we got home, surprise, avocado.First time this happened we went back to the restaurant and explained the situation and the server said we didnt request to remove anything so, it was not her problem. Then the guy making the sushi (love that guy, always very nice energy and happyhe heard and said, I know them, they always order the same sushi no avocado and then he made a news order for us.Today, we went back, same girl, no apologies and she offered to remove the avocado from inside refusing to make a new order, no I am sorry, no giving discount to make it up to us having to go back here, nothing. At least we were able to get refund and now we are looking for a new place with better customer service because of this one person, what is a shame because all the staff is super nice and we love the food.

Usually dine in at the restaurant at busy hours but today, got delivered thru Uber Eats!Assorted Sashimi and Chirashi Don came in fresh and packaging was done nicely.Satisified meal and will come back again 😋

Sushi is not good. Quality of products is bad. Color of tuna was strange.Sushi is overpriced for this place, it’s not tasty. The philadelphia roll was at our order and there are almost no philadelphia.I hope we won’t get food poison.We’re not enjoyed and we was so sad.

Hello!Yesterday I ordered sushi from this restaurant for the first time (sushi combo, 3 rolls - my choice).I had Unagi roll in this combo the taste of which I didn’t quite like (and here I need to say I’m a big sushi lover and I’ve tasted so many of them but this one was the worst in my entire life, it wasweird to me)Then I looked deeply into the roll and realised that one piece has some mold on it! (I have a photo to prove). Then I got why I didn’t like the taste.I was extremely disappointed that my first sushi experience in Vancouver was spoiled. Dear Kadoya team, are you sure your ingredients are fresh and safe for health? I doubt it.

Ordered delivery from this restaurant during a recent stay in downtown. The portions were decent.We ordered the Salmon Tuna Don, Beef Gyu Don, Sunset Roll and Chicken Karaage. The food tasted pretty good and the portions were decent. The Karaage became a bit tough once it cooled down.Not a bad meal overall.

Great value for the sushi! I got the three roll combo and it was filling. The dynamite roll was the best out of my three rolls which were the dynamite, spicy tuna, and avocado/salmon roll. I was a bit hesitant about getting salmon due to the previous reviews but still went ahead with it. It wasnt the freshest but you do pay for what you get. I will definitely come back for takeout but not order the salmon for next time.

Good sushi taste and very affordable prices! The spicy kadoya rombo was great, 18 pieces between California roll, dynamite roll and spicy tuna roll, really good deal! Unfortunately, it was very busy and the only inconvenient was the place just had one server and she took long time to take our order. Besides that I would recommend it.

I discovered this place by accident couple of weeks ago when in the area. At my first visit I was the only patron though take away and delivery business was quite brisk. I immediately noticed how clean the place and the server’s attire was, always a good sign. I ordered a $16 box, Sushi lunch box, that blew my socks off. Firstly ,extremely generous portion as well as a delicious miso got me thinking sceptically about the quality. I could not have been more wrong. Everything was fresh and excellent and plentiful. I was unsure what Ebi was and soon realized though similar to tempura, the prawn Ebi I had as part of the box was leagues better than any tempura I had before. Fresh , crispy and tasty. In my lunch box I even had a prawn negiri, as well as gyoza , sashimi, salad and a roll of choice ( California). It was a fantastic experience which I repeated yesterday with my partner. I ordered the same as before to make sure was not a fluke. I was not disappointed. A generous and extremely satisfying portion. Upon my second visit I noticed the numerous awards and first place favourite finishes that had been awarded to this fine Japanese restaurant , justifiability. And finally the service, excellent, prompt, friendly and welcoming. Though far from home I’ll have no issues to go there again and again and to try other items on their menu and more importantly recommend for quality, service and value. Wonderful experience. One star for food. Its OK food. Service is horrible. I have been there twice recently, once there is a waitress with short hair who barely understands English (or maybe just dont care and I said I want to order something that I always order but she said they dont have it... I said I always order it, she just keep saying they dont have it on the menu anymore. So I ordered something else, and turns out that they do sell it, and apparently she doesnt know. Instead of asking other servers she said they dont have it anymore. Then I went there today which is a very hot day, and ordered something to go, I said I will wait outside and they can give it to me when its ready. I waited 30 minutes outside standing under the sun, so I went in asked if it was ready, then the same waitress from the last story said no its not ready. But another one said oh its ready its on the table you can take it... and at that time she was eating her lunch meanwhile I was standing outside waiting for my order for 30 minutes. No apologies at all. Just pure horrible service.

Food was good overall. I actually visited here long time ago, like 10months? But I was not happy with their service. The reason Im writing this review is my friends went there and same thing happened. Which is, servers almost smashed your welcome drink (grean teaand when they ask questions about food servers like "do you need menu again? Its written on there".Im quite shocked it didnt get better now.

Salmon in the salmon avocado roll was grey, slimy, and smelled off. You can see in the photo the difference in colour between the salmon pieces.

Saw the Google review and ordered their takeouts, really disappointing for the small portions and quality. Everything is mushy worst sushi Ive ordered at Vancouver for the price.

First time coming here and will definitely come back! I had the Spicy Korean Chirashi Don and it was so fresh and had huge portions.

Had the pleasure of eating at Kadoya for my little brothers birthday, and I can’t thank the amazing staff and chefs enough!Not only was the food absolutely delicious, with great portion sizes, and great prices as well, all the staff were the kindest and most delightful people.They made us feel so happy, and treated my brother to a surprise custom dish as a birthday treat which made him feel so special :)The atmosphere was excellent, and was very comfortable and welcoming for a group of 6. Some of my group members also have ADHD and can sometimes have sensory anxiety in restaurants but because of the amazing staff and setting nobody felt anxious at all! The staff were patient, always had our waters and teas filled up, and we truly felt blessed to have experienced such an amazing dinner, big thank you to the entire Kadoya team! You guys are truly the best!

LOVEDDDDDD IT. THE BEST STAFF EVER. They make sure you have fun and that your food is good. We were a group of 10 and the service was sooo quick. It is REALLY affordable. The food is so good. We didnt reserve and it was awesome and fast. (Maybe call before just to make sure if they have place for you. I recommend the Special Lunch Box!!! only 22$ without taxes. Im gonna go back for suuure!!

Damn amazing place for some authentic and fresh Japanese food! The flavor is definitely one of the best ever had in Vancouver and the quality is very good considering it is delivered food. Would go to the store later instead of ordering on Uber.

Not only is the food ALWAYS consistently fabulous. But every one at The Sushi Chef make you feel like you are family! I cant say enough good about this place.Such a gem.They go above and beyond!

The service is really good and the prices are accessible.🍽 we ordered miso soup which is great, and the assemble sushi platter and the double spicy roll🍸 we ordered a hot large sake and it was delicious🛎 the place is small so it might get crowded🚻 Bathroom is in tha back and you might think there are no bathrooms but they are only for costumers🅿️ There is no parking

Oh MY GOODness!!! This place is ONE OF THE BEST IN VANCOUVER in terms of bentos. I have a descriminating taste bud.... but the food here is just irresistably delicious. The sashimi was so fresh, salad was tasty, unagi and dynamite sushi were SOOOO GOOD that I had to uhmmm yummm! The tempura, nice and crispy.The friendly owner said their chef is from a 5 star hotel and she does the sushi herself with carefull attention. Im not surprised. Hmm staff are super nice and friendly. So I can only say, WE WILL BE BACK FOR MORE! The place is small so make reservations by calling before you go.

This was the first time for me to visit this place. Sushi was very fresh with really awesome sauces. One thing specialty is all staff welcome us with smile when we come in :)👍

A wonderful food!My family was so happy with food and atmosphere here. The restaurant was not so bright and new modern but food was amazing. I was arranged a table near to kitchen, so i could see a small fridge where keep ingredients for Sushi. That made me so exiting. We really loved all food that we order. You should try “deluxe sashimi, it was so fresh and amazing”. Some rolls was impressive with decorations and quality.I’m sure be back here next time with my friends and family.

I order almost every week but everytime quality was droppingIts so different from my first impressionLast time they might forgot to put sauce on my rolls so everything is dry ,small piece of fish on top , rolls brokenI will not order for a while from now onI hope them quality will be back soon(In this picture is the first time i ordered)

Very pleasantly surprised by this little sushi spot! The dinner box was a great value item - tons of food for the price! Sashimi was good quality and the special rolls were all very good. Friendly staff as well!

I have been eating at Kadoya in the last 10 years every time I come to Vancouver. Delicipus and very fresh dishes.Excellent ! I recommend.

We stumbled upon this magnificent restaurant by mere luck. However, WHAT A GREAT FIND! The servers are incredibly polite and always helpful! The sushi rolls came before anything else! It was so quick and delicious.We ordered the Drunken Tiger Roll, Sunset Roll and my now, personal favorite: The Queen Roll (the green one).I seriously suggest coming here and try this food.

Fast service, great food and good prices. The restaurant was a bit boring and there was nothing memorable, but overall we had a good experience here.

Had their dinner box for about $20. It was delicious and so filling. Roll wasnt tight enough and kept falling apart when I picked them up though. Will be back soon!

Such an amazing place! I got the Salmon Tataki Roll and the Spicy Tuna, and I was completely in love with the presentation. The service is fast and nice too! Will definitely be coming back!

Food was fresh, dinner bento box was a great price! 10 sashimi, 5 Nigiri 2 fried prawns, 2 fried dumpling, salad, any classic roll of your choosing as well as miso soup! All were really really good! My only issue was I found eel bone in my unagi sushi!

Lived in the neighborhood for about 5 years now, and from my experience eating at the many other options on the block.. I can say that kadoya probably has the best customer service and food. Prices are fair and the chicken teriyaki bento box will get you full under 15$. If youre in the area, i recommend this place

My favorite sushi place so far in Vancouver. I come there by myself on a regular basis and everyone that joined me was very happy too (European, Japanese, north American).Prices are very reasonable and everything Ive tried is really good. I recommend you go there for sushi but otherwise Donburi & bento boxes are available. Dinner or lunch is fine.My favorite rolls are the tuna tataki roll, the crazy girl roll and the yam tempura roll. Every bite is full of flavor, the texture is just right.Service is great, I always get served very quickly. The location is also very convenient, in the very lively Davie St neighborhood.

Very good sushi! We had the Tuna Tataki roll, Unagi roll and the Spicy Sushi Combo. My favourite was a Tuna Tataki roll - definitely order it if you like tuna and a slightly torched taste. There were also mildly pickled onions on top but I love onions so that was no problem for me. Staff are very friendly as well

What the hell is this? Is this a joke? I took a picture of the roll beside a packet of soy sauce for comparison. One of the pieces I took a picture of you can see there is essentially nothing in it. I didn’t take anything from inside the roll out. How can this be TWELVE DOLLARS? I work at the hospital nearby and showed some of my coworkers so they would know never to come here, and they too were all in shock. It’s literally 2 pieces of “shrimp tempura” but basically just the batter, a paper thin layer of salmon on top, and a lick of avocado. Not even any imitation crab. Why does this place have 4.1 stars? Aren’t us Vancouverites supposed to know our sushi? I love sushi and this ruined my day. The only thing I would recommend is for this place to close down.

Very low quality food at Kadoya. I dont understand the good reviews here. Have these people eaten anywhere else in town?! Sushi rice was dry, toppings arent creative and dressings not delicious. There was a bad smell in the restaurant, not sure if was the washroom or dead fish. Very experience, sorry I wont go back.

Wow, talk about good service and good food. We ate well, the portions were great, and the price was amazingly fair. Bravo!

One of the best sushi places I ever had! Kadoya serves fresh sushi at a perfectly reasonable price. Will definitely go back if not too busy.
