Tiny, counter-serve spot with take-out & delivery options dishing up Persian fare such as kebabs.
We are from CA state. That was the first time we visited this area. We find this place by Google map and tried beef & kobide & chicken kabob. We liked the food. Nice and very friendly. Thank you guys.
I liked the kubideh kebab there. Try the barg also. The quality is somewhat satisfactory. Service may not be perfect.UPDATE: After trying more than 20 persian restaurants in the US, I think this one is by far the worst, esp. when it comes to customer service: (1offensive attitude to push you to order more food, appetizers, etc. the waitress even asked several times that is it enough for you? Really? Lucky you!How comes!!! Yes, pardon we cannot eat two combo kebab, shame on us! No service at all, we have been waiting so long for plates to be removed with awful smell of meats (I’m not sure if it was rotten or whatand she was talking to a friend for half an hour. I feel they don’t like the job they’re doing and unfortunately are making an ill reputation for persian restaurants. The worst part was the tip, we normally give 15-20% tip, this time after all annoying experiences we gave 15% tip for the awful unprofessional service and know I’m seeing 20% in my account charged for the tip in my account.
Very, tasty, tender and savory, amazing food.
Chef Mehdi is the only Persian Chef who knows how to make best Kebabs ever!
This is $26. Half rotten tomato and 6 cubes of meet and some rice. This place has gone down in quality and quantity.Just as other customers have mentioned below, do not order takeout from Kabob on the Cliff, the portions are half the size and the meat is hard and thick…lol and doesn’t taste good at all. I will never go to this place again.
one of my fav iranian restaurants in nj area, really enjoy the red meat dishes and the white sauce.
I had been craving Persian food since moving from California and didnt want to go into the city or cook it this time. Honestly it was the kabobs I was craving and Kabob on the Cliff was the answer. A small spot just across the river in NJ with a menu full of staple Persian dishes I was missing. And unlike a spot in the city they actually had tadigh on the menu!A pleasant surprise that made me feel like I was in my Aunts kitchen. Our hostess/waitress was sweet and patient. We were given Barbari bread once we sat down. The Soltani and Bahktiari were savory and the basmati rice was light and fluffy. Im looking forward to making this my go-to place for kabobs and dishes I want but dont want to make LOL Well worth the drive.
Food was tasty but quantity is very little. Make sure to order 4 combo if you are two persons. The staff says combo is good for two people but it is barely enough for one person. Also the food box didn’t contain all what is shown on the picture or what is promised. Staff was good and friendly, again food quantity is not worth the price.
Food is good, little on the small size, just they take extra long to prepare the food, they will tell you it would be ready in 20 min, you still have to wait extra 15+ minutes for the food.
So good Iranian food 🥘
It’s a very nice place, they made very good food and bbq. Please make sure you try the saffron ice cream. Gheime is great there. I really like their sour Cherry rice but beware as they serve it sweet, However for Kobideh, they are doing a good job. The street parking is the issue. It isn’t super bad tho. Within two blocks you should be able to find sth. Make sure you have coins for it. 25 cents is 30 minutes. They have super friendly staffs and very nice Legos persian decor inside.
Very clean place and warm welcome ...food very fresh and tasty...worth the money...keep it up...
We were food poisoned after getting take out from this place. One person landed in the ER. 4 other people including myself fell severely ill. This was a get together for my daughter’s birthday and persian new year and we all spent it vomiting out guts out. Everything totally ruined. I will be in touch with the health department. We have been customers for years and this is absolutely unacceptable
Warm welcome...very clean place...delicious food and fresh...I loved it...plus it is halal ..keep it up.
I was there yesterday for the first time. The waitress took about 30 mins to give us the menu, but quickly gave the Asian family that walked in after us by 10 mins. The second issue I had was her friendliness to some costumers and not towards my family. The appetizer came 5 mins before the entree and the other appetizer I ordered never came out (maybe they ran out but she didn’t tell us). We asked for drinks, never got them and we were halfway into our main course, so my husband got up and grabbed them from the fridge. As for the food, it was okay. Most likely we will not be going back.
Perfect Iranian food. We ordered catering from Kabab on the cliff for the first time and it was just EXCELLENT.Food quality and portions were great! Presentation was excellent.I highly recommend this restaurant
The man waiter is very very rude, angry and attack person. His behavior is shameful. Don’t recommend.COVID alert🛑⛔️: They waitresses don’t wear mask😷
Well, I always enjoyed the delicious food and friendly service. Particularly, Koobideh and lamb shank, I am so surprised that someone said there was no spoons or forks. Every table is Pre-set up with both. Although, I have seen some customers follow their traditions and eat by hands. Very customary in India and Pakistan (nothing insulting, my senior boss who manages 3000 people, and educated in the US, during lunch at his office normally eats using his hands). Also, some people are not used to pay tip or service charge. So, if you go to Ridgewood, get used to it. 18% is recommended and more than 6 customers the waiter or waitress can add to the bill. Finally, since I have been here so often, I happened to know, the claim that I talked to owner’s son is false. The owner has no son!
This restaurant suffers from bad-to-mediocre food quality and worst order service. Asked the waitress for half gheymeh half ghormeh on tahdig appetizer and was told it only comes with either full geymeh or ghormeh. Asked for a sample of Fesenjun but she refused to serve the sample - note that this never happens in other Persian resturants. We also ordered Barg Kabab which the quality of kabab was mediocre, and dont get me started with the taste of white rice.
Don’t order for take out or delivery.Wrong every time. This will be the last time I order from them. The food was soo old and bad - couldn’t eat it.Not the best service when you dine in. Food is good when you dine in.
More than terrible service. The waiter is incredibly rude and disrespectful and with no manners. When asked a question about the menu he is like about fight with you for asking a question!!One of the workers, sneezed in the middle of the dining room with NO MASK!! He (the waitersaid to him don’t worry about it, it’s fine!! When I said, no it’s not fine can you please open the door; he turned to the worker and said: don’t worry about it and he ignored me!!I called the owner and spoke to his son about the incidents, he was receptive and apologized, but the waiter continued being rude and disrespectful. We eat in this restaurant for years never seen a waiter like the one they have now.
Great experience! Hostess was kind and welcoming, and food was amazing. We had Masto moseir, Sultani Kabab, jujeh, and Ghatmeg eggplant Stew all where amazing. Cliffside Park location 🙏🏼
I was very disappointed with their service. Based on the reviews, I decided to go with family to this place. Food was okay but the server took forever to understand or listen to what we needed. Dishes would come with no spoons in them, we asked her for some, and she didnt bring any so we were stuck. At the end, there was service tip at a very high price on their own and if you dont pay attention youll skip it and end up adding more tip since they have a line for tip as well. When we asked her why the service tip is so high she said this table was the hardest for her in 4 years! Definitely, no manners and will not go there again!!
It was worse experience in my life , service was so bad , food was horrible. Also food was very expensive and they charge tips by themselves. Dessert were worse .
As a Persian who grew up with Persian foods, I should say that you never find a Persian restaurant better than this in NY/NJ...that is truly my only choice after I immigrated to the US all these years...
The food is exceptional and the service doubly so. The wait times are reasonable and worthwhile. Though its worth the price, the food is quite a bit more expensive than other places with similar options.
I ordered barg/steak take out after a while but portions was very small and the meat quality was horible! It wasnt even suitable meat for steak or kabob more like stew meat! If you charge top price at least be fair and dont cheat.
Love their food. Do NOT love kitchen staff not wearing masks and storefront staff having hers under her nose, then moving to under her chin when she was taking orders from a LARGE table of maskless patrons. Not going back, nor ordering again, at least until the pandemic has ended. Its a shame, the food is delicious, but not worth that.
Went for salmon kabobs but found the specialty rice to be better than the kebobs. Main entrees are kind of small. But they sell random spices on the side which was nice.
Excellent and delicious food and great service and staff. Highly recommended
COVID warning:Staff does not wear masks until people come in thats if they can bother getting off the phone. The cooks dont wear masks or gloves.Let me start out with the following, I am Muslim, I like good halal places. I ended up trying one of their other locations and quickly fell in love. Only problem is the service is absolutely terrible.. I have order twice on the phone both times they made a mistake on my order forgetting stuff. I was born and raised here so 0 accent here and never had any issues ordering before. (I think its because the lady and the other guy are always talking on the phone when I come and treat you like a nuisance)Now is the fun part when I picked up both times.. I repeat exactly the items I ordered. They confirm and then is the fun part where I check my order in store since the bags feel awfully light,I ask about the item they said they gave me a few mins earlier they stay quiet caught right handed...Normally at resteraunts due to COVID I leave generous tips for pickup $10-20+ on a order for 2 people... not that I have money to waste but businesses are hurting, but this places I never will and frankly their treatment of customers will make sure I will never be a patron here again.
Ordered delivery. Over an later, I decide to call because no one showed up. Lady wont take responsibility for not having a delivery person and said "the company never sent another driver." but you didnt think to notify me?? I even ordered through their website to avoid GrubHub taking more of a cut. What a joke and a poorly managed business. First time trying to order from here and definitely my last.
My family and I happened to just drop in on this restaurant on the way to our hotel. The food was great. Those were the best Kebabs Ive ever had to be honest. Prices were fair. Service was ok.
Good food. Pathetic service. Ordered an appetizer and an entree. And after 30 min nothing showed up. Inquired about our order and the woman literally forgot to put it in...there were two other tables. How hard can it be?
We are a repeat customer, we love the food. That said, last Sunday evening 12/08/2019 was probably the worst service I have experienced. The restaurant closes at 10pm, we entered at 9pm. The waitress said kitchen closes at 9:30pm. We ordered before 9:30pm. The waitress asked for us to pay before we finished since they were closing soon. That was fine. Then as we were eating she says to eat faster because she has two kids at home. I confirmed with her the restaurant closes at 10pm. It was around 9:40pm or so. I felt rushed to eat and actually loved the food. As she was cleaning up she said we were good customers. I guess because we ate fast. I really didnt appreciate her rushing us when it wasnt 10pm. Food was great, but couldnt enjoy because of the service.
I have been to Kabob on the Cliff twice in different branches. The food tastes usually like an authentic Persian food. I ordered Ash-e-Reshte and Shishlik the last time I was there. The two missing stars are for the price and the service! This dish is over priced in my opinion, although it tasted really good. The other thing is they don’t serve TAP WATER when you are waiting for your order! We asked several times for tap water, but it seems they are not wiling to serve water and they want you to order some drinks that they can charge you on!
Delicious Kalle Paache, chenjeh and barg. I really enjoyed the food.
With my several experiences at Cliff side branch, I can say, the food quality is wonderful (like home made), and it always serve in such a great design. All staff are so friendly that you feel very comfortable. I recommend everyone to give a try!
This place is a little gem in Cliffside Park that offer authentic Persian food. Decor is nice and clean and tables are well setup.Service is friendly, and the food is amazing. Perfect combo and a must visit if you have a craving for kababs.
Delicious Iranian food. Very clean and friendly service. The place is small and cozy, so if you plan on bringing a big group, its best you call ahead and reserve a table. I believe we have tried literally everything on the menu in just the two times Ive visited (we were a sizable group and ordered different things to try). The food is consistently delicious, and the meats always cooked to tender perfection. I also really love the pickles!!
The falafel with rice was good although bit dry. Got the shallot yogurt condiment to add moisture. Must have ice cream with saffron and pista cardamom. Great service and hygiene. The prices were fair for the offering.
Good taste of Persian food! We tried KOBIDEH the special Persian kabob and it was great! However they forgot to put the grilled tomatoes for us and the girl who was serving us was not friendly at all! But since we were hungry and just wanted to eat something, so we ignored her : )I give them 4 stars and the only reason is because of the very poor restroom service!!!
What a terrific meal. While they do take-out, we ordered and are there. The server was so personable and helpful. Food was delicious. Service was a tiny bit slow, but worth it! We parked in street parking just a few doors down.
I came looking for this place bc of all the good reviews, but my GPS took me to the wrong spot and ended up at a lebnonese place instead.Im glad I came back to fine this spot tho!I havent had Bar Bari (special Persian bread), in ages and tasted even better than I remember!I strongly recommend the kabob Barg and joojeh kabob. There is only one guy working but he is on top of his things. Typical mom and pop shop.If you miss Persian food and are in the area, check this place out.
I am sorry but this place is disgusting! I hope the owner(s)/Operator read this note and act on it.1. There is always one (and only oneperson serving the place and she runs around like a chicken with its head cut off! Not realizing at all that people come to a restaurant to relax as well as to have food. Her responses are polite but completely robotic! "Yes, No, Thank you, Mercy, etc., etc."2. Do not ever go to the bathroom! And please, please do not open the bathroom door or the entire place gets filled with the awful stench of never cleaned toilet. Hands down embarrassing!3. Please, the entire place needs a thorough, detailed cleaning - its simply dirty all over!4. Please change the burned out light bulbs for god sake.5. Finally, hire some professionals with some decent clothing, rather than people working in their underwear cloth, wiping their perspiration on their sleeves.I sincerely apologies for publicly highlighting the above points and I hope the owner(s)/operator considers the points above and not reject them. But I know that I am hoping against hope.
Nice place with reasonable prices. The food quality is good. The staff were friendly. However, there was only one person serving all of the guests. They need more waiters to provide a timely manner service. The food portion was a little bit smaller than other Persian restaurants.
I have been trying all of the Mediterranean places in the area and this place was just above average. The Kebab is fantastic but some of the other items were pretty generic. If I go back, I would get the Kebab combo and try some of the other kebabs rather then waste time with the salad, hummus, and falafel.
Nice guys and great service! Come here for the lunch specials - falafel and gyro sandwich are under $10 but all their grilled meats are available for a decent price as well. A ton of food so you might want to share a platter - or save half for leftovers.
One of the best Persian restaurants I ever tried. Food is delicious and authentic, portions are good, servers are nice. You wont go wrong with anything on the menu, and dont forget to enjoy a cup of tea after your meal.
This place is my go to spot for Persian food. They make the sesame bread fresh every morning. The rice is buttery deliciousness. The cucumber mint yogurt mixed with basil and the lamb is a party exploding in your mouth. Great. Now Im hungry.
