KINDRED Restaurant - Italian restaurant in Sydney, Australia
Excellent food, atmosphere and customer service. Their sourdough was amazing and the artichokes were spot on. Minor mishap with one our dishes which the team rectified promptly and without issue - 10/10 customer service. Overall a great Italian dining experience and would definitely be visiting again.
Delicious carrot triangoli though very oily, fresh salads and great service. Homemade gelato is ok which can be better hahah.
By far the best Italian restaurant in Sydney. We visited Kindred several times over the past few years and the quality of food was incredible! The staff are the nicest possible. I love this place
Always guaranteed superb authentic food at this place. One of my all time favourites. Excellent wine selection also.
What an amazing little spot! The Chef’s tasting was incredible, the staff were divine and the atmosphere is exceptional
Multiple friends recommended this restaurant. Came here with a friend yesterday and loved it. Friendly service, delicious Italian food and great drinks! Will definitely come back soon 🙂
The food here are always very tasty, and they change the menus pretty frequently, nothing boring.
Dont understand the hype and google reviews. Ive had much better! Food at pubs around this restaurant is far better, including pasta (pasta was sub-par here). Service was substandard and seating was the worse. If you are looking for good Italian food and a great time with your family/friends/partner, avoid this restaurant.
Amazing food but the service upset me and my friends. I was advised it was a 2 hour seating, which is fine and normal; however being told online and text, I didn’t we had to be told 10 times during our experience. Then we were given the bill 20 minutes before our 2 hour window and felt a lot of pressure to leave. I would love to go back for the food but I would need therapy afterwards. If you want a warm welcome absolutely don’t go to this restaurant
Amazing food. All the dishes were fantastic but special mention to some of the best gnocchi Ive had. Service was great. Highly recommended.
Lovely little spot, weve driven past many times and been meaning to go. Great gluten free options too - even for a coeliac. Very comprehensive and daunting wine list, but the staff were great. Pretty strict on the timing as they do two sittings, but it worked well for us (2 pubs very close by)
Absolutely wonderful. Great pastas, nice wines, reasonable prices. Perfect for date nights and big groups. Eat here now.
Great Italian food. Cosy vibe. Friendly service although a bit rushedFresh Al Dente pastas with great flavours made on premises. Superb sourdough. The tasting menu is fantastic value - I’ve tried both the meat $65 and vegetarian versions $60 and both are delicious. Highlight was carrot triangle. Wines and Desserts delicious.Bookings are for 2 hours only so the dishes do come out quickly and it does feel a little rushed. We noted on the booking and also in person that it was my friends birthday and they said they would provide candles but they never did.
Kindred last night was amazing. From service to food everything was on point. Manager was accommodating when we asked to move tables. Waiter was friendly and very experienced. But the food, oh the food..We recently got back from Italy and I can honestly say this is great Italian food. As they mentioned, not traditional, but great. We had 4 dishes plus olives and bread, and everything was exceptional. We even got a takeaway of the trout dip!Very affordable and great value for money. I doubt you’ll find anything that compares to it in Sydney.
Soooo good. I’m traveling alone and they can’t do tasting menu for one person :/
Quality Italian restaurant with great food and service. There is a large selection of entrees, main and sides and a few dessert choices. Quite a busy place so ensure you book ahead. There is also vegetarian and vegan choices available. Will come back again.
Kindred is a great little restaurant in Redfern (short walk from redfern and central station). They only take bookings for 2hour seatings (they also ask for credit card details upon booking). The food is great and they have a nice selection of drinks. Their set menu is very affordable esp for the price you pay ($65pp for around 6 dishesand is also delicious. I would def go back to try the rest of their menu :The food also comes out quick and the service is good and fast. The restaurant has 2 levels separated by a staircase. Both levels are quite cosy so i wouldnt recommend large groups to dine here. Despite this, there is a very nice homely vibe to the place. Street parking is available but may be hard to find.
This place is an ABSOLUTE GEM.Some of the FINEST Italian food Ive had for many years, set in a quaint cosey restaurant with friendly and attentive staff. There was truely nothing I could fault with our experience.Would VERY HIGHLY recommend this although reluctantly because I want to come back again and be able to get a table.
Incredible. This is the restaurant you wish was on the corner next to your home … I’m not sure you would ever cook again. From the second you walk in, you feel in safe hands - everything made on site with such a passion for the food - and the food is next level - blurring Cleveland st into oblivion. The added bonus - there are gluten free options for those who are looking for great Italian without the gluten.I couldn’t recommend this humble looking local more.
Attended on Wednesday night and had the Chefs Tasting Menu.Quiet old aesthetic building and interior. No outlandish advertising just careful design.Beautiful interior, seating over two levels. It is a restaurant within a house, so the tables are fitted where they can, it can feel a little squish if people stand in walkways.Food was divine, recommended a bottle of wine by the staff which complimented perfectly (the dishes vary so it was a good all rounder).
Had a really pleasant experience at KINDRED and would highly recommend for a date or quiet meal with close friends. The staff were very accomodating and kind. Relatively affordable for an Italian cuisine given the diverse range of ingredients in each dish, which is packed with flavour. Would recommend getting a range of things from the menu and sharing!
An excellent and affordable tasting menu with some unique and delicious foods! Good wine as well and great service. Youre first greeted by a warm and quaint ambience before being seated in a low-lit, mellow dining area. Notable highlights include the sourdough bread, tagliatelle pasta, salmon, tri pasta and dessert. Wasnt the biggest fan of the salad or beetroot dish, found the smoked trout abit salty as well. But overall would go again to eat all the other dishes 🥰I can understand why everyone raves about the tri pasta. Im still thinking about it. Also their servings are GENEROUS! You will definitely be stuffed in the end.
A little known about gem in Sydney. The food was some of the best youll find and the chefs tasting menu was very reasonably priced at $65pp.Standouts were the Salmon, Beef Shin Pasta, Semi Fredo dessert and the Bloody Hill wine. The cabbage and pecorino salad that came with the pasta was overly salty, to the point it where it was not enjoyable but I can look past that minor hiccup as everything else was so delicious!
A bustling little restaurant. The waitress was badly trained and had very little knowledge about the food. The stuffed eggplant was delicious and the sour dough bread with warm olives was sensational. Would recommend this restaurant.
One of my absolute favourite restaurants in Sydney. It’s located in an unassuming spot on Cleveland street, but the restaurant is anything but unassuming, it’s spectacular!Consistently delicious - you can tell that each dish is made with so much tender love and care. Service / wait staff are very warm and attentive, but also give you and your company enough space to enjoy the meal.Highly recommend the carrot triangoli - it is rich, unique in flavour, and more-ish. Everytime I go, I always order two! Bread is also delicious. Pasta is lovingly hand made and menu changes with the season. Desserts are also surprisingly good! Please bring back the mushroom gnocchi! 😍😍
What an absolutely amazing dinner experience in every way. The atmosphere was lovely, the service from our waitress Gab was exceptional, and to say the food was delicious feels like an understatement! We will definitely be back.
Kindred is just the best. As soon as you enter, its like someone has opened their - very beautiful - home to you. The service is so lovely, and genuine - and then you get to the food. All the dishes are so considered, seasonal, and are some of the best ive ever eaten. I have been coming here for the past 5 years, and havent found a better place to eat in Sydney (despite their being excellent places in this city). Thanks so much Kindred for all the amazing experiences - youre the best.
Food amazing and staff were friendly and attentive. Sydney’s best kept secret!
Had such a lovely time here for my birthday! It came highly recommended by many friends and I can absolutely see why- the food was so lovely and we enjoyed every single dish. Would absolutely recommend the celeriac ravioli, the bucatini and the pork ragu. Also big shout out to our lovely waitress Gab who made the experience even better. She was so attentive, gave us great recommendations and just generally had a sparkling personality and friendly attitude! Can’t wait to come back here again at some point to try the rest of the menu :)
What a hidden gem. Absolutely amazing dining experience. Great service and exquisite food. Finally a place where not just the quality but quantity is also great. Thank u so much kindred team. 👏👏
Kindred was the best dining experience we had during our three week visit to Sydney from the US— and we had many lovely meals. It was so special that I begged for a table on a fully booked Saturday just three nights after our first dinner there so we could enjoy Kindred one last time at the end of our trip. The restaurant itself is comfortable and cozy. The service, from the greeting at the door through the wine and table service is friendly and helpful. And the food!! We travel extensively all over the world and can say with great confidence that the food here is special. We loved the carrot tringale, entree and the main course of bucatini, both inventive preparations and oh so tasty. Make sure to order the amazing bread. I am confident that whatever you have, it will be delicious and memorable.
Food, atmosphere, service and value - perfection! Will go back for the chef’s tasting menu
The overall experience and food was consistently pleasant throughout and the cocktails were a delightful compliment. A minor thing that let the main down was the dry coleslaw like side that went with the pappardelle beef shin ragu (could have been accompanied with a more lively salad or even nicely cooked Brussel sprouts 🥹)
chef’s tasting menu was delicious and great value for money ! (however, the pork casarecce was a little bit too salty for my taste and the tiramisu sponge was slightly oversoaked). the gin cocktails were lovely too.
The chefs tasting menu was simply sensational. Every dish was flavourful and rich. The journey at Kindred started from the beautiful house made sourdough bread. The carrot triangoli was an explosion of flavour and possibly my favourite dish of the night. We opted for the pork ragu and it did not disappoint. Left feeling content and satisfied. Cocktails menu not extensive, probably better to order wine.
Everything is made fresh and in house at Kindred, a charming terrace house that you can easily miss if you drive down Cleveland Street often. Inside youll be greeted by generous serving sizes, friendly service and Italian inspired dishes.Make sure to order a slice (or twoof the bread!
We love this place! We tried the chef’s tasting menu and it was delicious. Fantastic wine list as well and lovely staff. Amazing value, we look forward to coming back.
Tried the Chef’s tasting menu and was blown away. The standouts were the jamon serrano as well as the carrot triangoli. Extremely delicious. Our sourdough was burnt so I had to yank it apart to be able to chew it. I’m sure it would have been tasty if I didn’t have to chew for a minute. However, the octopus was pleasantly nice. I normally don’t eat seafood but the flavours were so delightful and it was a perfect texture. With the choice of beef shin or duck ragu, we went with beef and although it was lovely, at the end of our meal it was awfully rich after we were already stuffed. Unless you love heavy red sauces or can’t eat duck, try the duck ragu.Desserts were great, nothing special but still excellent way to end the meal. Our server, who I unfortunately did not get the name of, was amazing and just enough attentive. I’d love to come back for the carrot triangoli and dishes to try off the tasting menu next time! Considerably busy on a Thursday night so be sure to book ahead if you have a larger group.
NEVER DISAPPOINTSMy partner and I have been regular customer and we cannot recommend this place enough. The food is yummy, everything homemade and the service is 10/10. Maria, our waitress for tonight, was very kind, professional and, she helped me selecting the wine to go with my pasta (great recommendation btw!).For those who have not yet visited Kindred, I highly suggest you do so.Our favourite dishes are:-Home made bread-Roasted carrot triangoli-Pappardelle pasta-Bolognese pasta...I just wish the Banoffe pie was back but the Tiramisu is also very nice. You can also opt for the set menu which is around $60 (I thinkand is great value for money.
Exceptionally good food with great staff. The food here gives all of sydney restaurants a run for their money. Beautifully prepared food in a quirky little spot in Darlington- a must visit for anyone visiting Sydney or a local wanting great value well cooked food.
Cant wait to return!Amazing value, its a shame we didnt get the tasting menu to try more of KINDREDs offerings. The pasta was amazing but surprisingly not the standout for us - it was actually the bread and entrees. Sourdough was one of the best breads Ive had and the octopus entrees were equally a stand out.On top, service was warm and friendly too.
Excellent Italian…. The service was great, the food quite delicious and the ambiance lovely. The green salad with oak leaf was a stunner. Prices are quite reasonable for a change! If you happen to be visiting on a cold winters night try to get a table well away from the front door…
From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm & welcoming service. This hidden gem is one of Sydney’s best kept secrets!! The atmosphere is cozy, the food is out of this world and the drinks are plentiful. They hand make everything all the way down to their sourdough and might I add, everything that we ordered was exceptional. Highlights for me we’re definitely the pastas and bread... so fresh! Highly recommend! Can’t wait to go back!
Came here for dinner lastnight and we really enjoyed everything, from the cosy, warm ambience, to the service from every single staff member, and the food. We ordered the eggplant dip, Brussels sprouts, gem lettuce salad, chicken liver parfait and beef lasagne. The sprouts had fantastic flavour and textures and was my favourite, although I really enjoyed the chicken parfait and lasagne too. I will be back and will recommend to friends!
The biggest discovery of this year! Such a great hidden gem. Warm rustic interior made for a cozy atmosphere. The food was very unique and delicious. In the menu you will find Italian flavors with elements of fusion. We loved every single dish but carrot triangoli definitely stole the show.
What a lovely place with amazing food, great atmosphere and top-notch service! Sourdough and the pork from the mains were to die for and by far the best of the kind I’ve ever had in my life. Crusty outside and soft and moist inside, sourdough was so fresh and is a must-try. Pasta dish was on the standard side but had good flavours and everything tasted fresh and made with care.We were seated upstairs and served by a friendly lady staff who was very attentive and kind, and demonstrated what a great service is. We were given 2 hours dining time and this was not rushed at all. Thanks for the great and memorable experience!
The 7 course vegetarian tasting menu offered both fantastic value for money and great, generous food offerings. All of the pasta dishes were exemplary and the semi freddo dessert was delicious too! Highly recommend a visit.
Excellent food and great service. Pleasantly impressed. For entree, we had chicken liver pate and tuna-tartar-ish, which were great. Then had the lasagne (classic!), short ribs (a disappointment to some extentand the agnolotti, which were beautiful.
Delicious and love the decor and environment in this small restaurant. Can feel the warmth from people working there. The little and only disappointment was the pasta was a bit hard to chew. Best tiramisu I’ve tried so far btw.
We had a big dinner here and we occupied an 8 seater table upstairs. Lovely ambiance, intimate and warm. We started off with lovely cocktails and them moved to wine to go with the food. All our order came out in timely manner, beautifully plated out and flavoursome. Genuinely, if I have to score each dish, Im giving a 5 out of 5, they were exceptionally delicious. Definitely a-must visit restaurant in Cleveland.
