K'Osewe Ranalo Foods - Restaurant in Thika, Kenya
Pull up your socks Kosewe, been eating hear since 2012, however, over the years, theyve kept increasing prices and reducing portions and services dwindling. The lady waiters seem to be disinterested and mostly hang by the bar counter beating stories especially in the evenings - poor service for those charges
Ww did a food walking tour and our guide brought us here to sample local Kenyan food. Good food and fun to learn how to eat with your hands using ugali
The food was amazing, worth the Shilling. The environment is not loud but busy. Better to visit with friends.
Athola is on point! Mit marach
Great food and rhumba music
Kenyan cuisine. The place to be. I enjoyed my Tilapia in coconut sauce with Ugali and a fresh juice. Kudos
Quality affordable meals. The band playing the music was awesome.
Simple nice restaurant for Kenyan meals. The food is delicious and sitting area is large. Had fish and ugali
Kosewe Ranalo is my go to Restaurant in Nairobi. I eat there many different menus. Lately it gas been nyama choma and ugali. It is nicely done
Good African/Kenyan food and served with no delays
Very nice Kenyan food
If you need well made and authentic traditional food within the CBD, this is the place to be
If youre looking to eat some Kenyan delicacies then this is the place to go. The food here is affordable and the restaurant is big enough to accommodate a large amount of people. Food is well prepared and very delicious but comes in small plates which can be a challenge, ordering food is somehow different from other restaurants because you have to order and pay at the reception beforehand and if can be a challenge to those who are not used to it. Overall the service was very quick and good
A nice place for traditional food
Food looks good and smells good, hard to find a menu to show what your ordering. Confusing menu
Amazing food...had ugali n some thick beef stew.
Food was good. There was no written menu which could lead to confusion. Service was a bit strange as the server who assisted me wanted me to pay him instead of paying at the counter. He kept on insisting that “everything is okay” but he wanted to charge me more for something which I told him at the beginning that I didn’t want.
I tried the dried beef I dont know how they make it.. Or rather they call it roasted beef.. It was nice..
Had the coconut fish and passion juice. Everything tasted amazing! Wonderful service too. I’d definitely go back
Nice place to visit especially for ugali lovers, 😊 moreover kienyeji ugali. Its the best place I can recommend you to eat while in town and only if you can afford it. I know my grandmother would love to visit this place daily because of what they offer, unfortunately partially Accessibility ♿ friendly. No wheelchair entrance. How I wish it were, nevertheless we can still buy her takeaway to enjoy.Social distances and all covid 19 protocols empirical.
Awesome food and service. Staff absolutely efficient and friendly.
The place where you eat until you say, "KOsewe, please dont kill me with food"😆
I looooooved their chapatis. Really soft. This place only serves traditional or Kenyan foods. Nothing Junkie. So dont ask for fries and burgers when you get there. Ask for traditional kenyan food.
Excellent food , quick services. Great staff. We were served by one Hanney . Excellent service. Good portions.Very organic ambience. Not to be missed at all. If you have been there, revisit is a mustKudos to the full team of the Ranalo.AsanteFood was organic ,tasty, and scrumptious.Asante Sanaa again
They sold me rotten fish as take away. I was grossly disappointed. And the lady, I guess she is the co-founder, packed it and gave me with a smile but not after whispering to others - maybe saying "lets sell to that fool." Never going back.
I would not advice on their fish at all. bought fish both dry fried and wet fry and what was delivered wasnt even tasting like fish at all. very disappointed client. would not recommend!!! Not worth the money spent.
Pricy cultural meals
This place was so hyped back in the day, so I sought to check it out.We made the mistake of sitting down waiting for the waiters and waitresses to serve us. We had to call them over to request for service and the menu. The way it works, is apparently you have to go to the cashier order there then get a receipt. You then sit down and wait for the servers who pick the receipts then serve you. They have no menus! You have to read the board near the cashier! Imagine that! The portions are so small for the price that they offer. The greens, which should honestly come free are a whopping 200KES.On that day at 3pm they had zero vegetables. The food tasted great though! But I dont think I will be dining there anytime soon. Maybe takeaway.
Nice place, very nice food, make sure you eat their fish; very tasty 😋 Food is affordable as well, there’s music playing all the time. Also you pay first then you are served; they should indicate that😎there’s also a bar here with a variety of drinks😌 Denis was very professional and always at our service. It’s a 5 star from me!
First time in Nairobi and staying in CBD. Wanted somewhere casual within walking distance. Everyone that I asked recommended here, and it didnt disappoint. Good food and good music. Even by myself , I had a great time.
Tasty African delicacy, enjoyed every bit
Great place for traditional good. It gets pretty packed at lunchtime on weekdays so you might expect slow service
The food is really good and authentic African but it is too pricey for that kind of service. They serve very good coconut or even dry fish and gizzards as well. For any meal you order, you must buy veges on the side which costs 200 bob. Their food is also very oily but very yummy as well
A good place to eat a local Kenyan meal. Fairly priced. Service very efficient.
If you looking for a place with the best 🐠 delicacies, then you have to visit here. The chefs are great at doing what they do and i can confidently say once you eat their food you will definitely go back many more times.
Heaving joint. Fantastic atmosphere. Food was tasty, well prepared and the price was just right. Wait staff were very attentive. Love the large sinks for washing ones hands.
Tasty food and waiters are on time with service. Had coconut fish with chapati and i loved it!!!
Great place for Kenyan meal. Try their dry fry beef, matumbo... saga, kunde, fish... everything is too tasty!!!!
Great place to get some well priced Kenyan food. We went on a Sunday evening and it was quiet so we were not rushed and there was a relaxed atmosphere. The tilapia was absolutely delicious, as were the Ugali and chapatis.
The best fish restaurant in Nairobi, tasty coconut fish, fried fish, meat and food served hot.
Centrally located at the heart of Nairobi, easily accessible, K’Osewe is a great haven for African food. The food is fresh and well cooked. The place is usually busy over peak hours and good to visit early lunch or dinner. Not a place for any sort of intimate conversations either. You will almost always and up sharing a table. All in all, it’s a good restaurant with good food and reasonable prices.
Great service and great meals. I am a fan of the coconut fish. I have never tasted coconut tilapia made better than Kosewes. I have eaten that for years - my fave item on their menu. I unfortunately missed it this time and opted for fry mbuzi (fried goat meatwhich was also good but I still insist, the coconut tilapia is everthing!
Food served with deep cultural distinction. Organic meals that quite healthy and sumptious.
Taste of Nairobi. Fanatic food ... great prices.
Frequented this restaurant since 2009. Nice African food. I love their managu, matumbo and beef. However, over the years, theyve kept increasing prices and reducing portions. Theyll serve you about five pieces of tasty meat with a humongous amount of ugali.
Probably the best fish in town, and very conveniently located in the CBD.The ambiance is not very datey so I wouldnt recommend it for a good night out with a close person, but its a lot of fun for small gatherings. This fish is really good, I cant insist that enough. And for around 800/= per plate, its value for your money. The waiters were very friendly too.
This is a nice place! I tried fish, fresh water fish is not my favorite but these people know how to cook this fish!If you are visiting Nairobi like me and would like to try a place out of shinny expat, tourist places this would be the place you should come.
As always great place to sample local Kenyan dishes. Standards however are fluctuating sometimes the meal is great and others just flat. The live band in Fridays is captivating for Rhumba music lovers.
You get to see the food before you order it so you get to choose what pleases your eyes. The outdoor sitting is perfect under the shades. Internet is good. I found their potions to be small considering the amount they charge
If this is your first time in Nairobi, this is a good place to start local dishes.
