Juntos Mexican Restaurant & Bar - Mexican restaurant in Nagano, Japan
Easily one of the best joints in Japan doling out mega impressive Mexican food. This is legit. Après-ski 100/10Ain’t your Tex-mex fiesta from Tokyo or Osaka, since these folk know what they are doing. Cannot recommend enough if you are in Nozawa! Must must must visit!! Ensure you make a reservation if you got a larger group going (3+)
Nice atmosphere, but the service was very slow. Food was mediocre. We had a good time but definitely not authentic Mexican food.
Great place to go for burritos and they have vegetarian options. Steff can speak English and Japanese and they have an English menu so its very tourist friendly.
Delicious food and GREAT jalapeño margaritas. I was grateful that all the food was labeled with gf/v for my gluten allergies and being a vegetarian. Such a cute little spot - wish it was a bit bigger because it’s just that great! The staff was super genki and kind even though we had a big group. They care about covid protocols and that made us feel safe. Will hopefully be back!
Great Mexican food! They do take out 💕
Yummy Mexican food and delightful margaritas and sangria. The staff speaks English and are very friendly. They have gluten free and vegetarian options. A reservation is recommended on nights when the town is crowded with tourists.
When you receive exceptional service, it always leaves an impression. My friends and I left Juntos in great spirits and in appreciation of the wonderful staff. Our waitress, who I believe may be the owner of the restaurant, was so kind and fun to talk to. We told her we missed spicy food, and she came back to us with a special chili sauce that she had made using real jalapenos she received as a gift. The sauce was delicious with just the right amount of heat for us! Thank you for the wonderful experience and we will be back someday!
The tacos are well seasoned, the chips are a bit too salty, and the desert are AMAZING 🤩. The lemonade was delicious and sparkly. The restaurants a bit dim, small, and noisy with music, but its cool. The staff speak english well and they are very nice. Overall experience was great.
Delicious Food and very Kind service
Surprisingly tasty tacos and nachos! I couldn’t taste any mezcal in my mezcal margarita so I swiftly moved away from the margs. Having a nice IPA available was a good consolation.
I like Mexican food and this restaurant has good reviews on Google so I went there. I was the 2nd customer there but soon other customers started to come in. While I was waiting for my main dish, the other customers started to get their appetizers before my main dish. Normally this wouldnt be a problem at a fully staffed restaurant, but this place only had one chef and one server. The chef also had to be the server because the server girl had a broken arm in a sling, so she could barely take orders on her non-dominant hand. I had to wait an extra 30 minutes after the other customers got their appetizers. From the time I ordered the food and it was on my table it took over an hour. The customers that came a few minutes after me still didnt get their food by the time I left. When I left the restaurant it had no more seats left. I estimate those guys who came afterwards wouldnt be able to eat for another two hours. When it was time for the bill, it was more expensive than I thought. I asked why is the bill so much higher and I was told because the toppings for the burrito was extra. The server never mentioned the toppings were extra costs. If you go to Chipotle in the U.S., sour cream and salsa are pretty standard free toppings. I thought it was like was hamburger shop asking if you wanted the onions in your burger or not. The server should have been upfront about it after I closed my menu for something that is free at most restaurants. As for the food, it was pretty good for Mexican food in Japan. The service and food quality for the price was disappointing. You have been warned.*edited because of the owner replied.I posted this review in December 2020, immediately after I visited your restaurant, which is why I wrote a detailed review. Thank you for replying to explain the situation at your store. I didnt know the staffing situation at your restaurant since it was my first visit. It is not my hobby to write bad reviews. My last 1 star review was over 2 years ago. I think most people write reviews if they received excellent or bad service. I unfortunately went on a day where you had staffing issues. If you were in my shoes and visited it for the first time and received the same overall service as I did, I think you would be highly critical too. Im sorry I gave you a bad review. I wish I went on a different day so I didnt have to give you a bad review.
Great food and good vibes!!Wish they had some pinto beans in the burrito though, but tasty enough!Highly recommend and best Mexican food in Nozawa!
The tacos was ok. No need to put mayo on the tacos. Maybe I should have orderd the burritos. The staff was very friendly. The lightning was too dark.
Some of the best mexican Ive had in Japan. And I grew up in California. So I consider myself an authority on the subject. The staff is incredibly nice and accommodating.
Decent mexican food in a nice and friendly environment. Good margaritas. Can get busy so its best to give them a call before heading over.
Walked into the restaurant and was turned away by the owner because “it was reservation only.” Immediately following leaving, a group larger than ours was seated immediately. The owners seem choosy about who sits in their restaurant (only foreignersand were not friendly. We asked staff how to make a reservation after witnessing the group after us get seated, they did not have a straight answer, only saying “find us on Facebook tomorrow.” Was disappointed as the hospitality and for being turned away for seemingly only the fact that the owner didn’t like the look of our group.
Great food and Sangria. Waitress kindly let us change some of the menu items to make them more child-friendly - she let us add and remove listed ingredients and our kids were really happy with the results! Waitress was kind and friendly and happy to help us out. Service was prompt but restaurant was pretty quiet when we were there as we went early.
Very tasty tacos. Amazing sangria. Also you should totally start having DJ nights with Savannah as the DJ.
Nice cozy little Mexican. Good atmosphere, close to town. Its a small place so probably best to book, long tables available for groups. Tastey tacos, corn an guac :would go again!
Very Poor. When even the Tacos are stale you know its not good. Its pretty expensive, but then you have the "add-ons". Starters, (Nachoscome very basic. To get any taste you have to buy the sour cream, chicken etc. Adds up a very expensive starter....Tacos sound really interesting on the menu, pulled porrk, pineapple chipottle etc ... but what turns up is tasteless. I had 2 tacos, pulled pork and chicken. Both were of a runny consistency, half full of lettuce and on a stale taco, which dissolved into a soggy inedible mess.Again, you can add extras at a price. My daughter had a burrito, but even with some extras, described it as bland. From this experience if you want any taste at all with your meal youll have to, but it will work out very pricey. The serving staff are warm and friendly, but this is the only positive in a very poor dining experience.
Great food, even better margaritas. Definitely check this place out!
Dreamy (strong margaritas), great burritos and vibe 🤙🏼
Best food and even better hosts, super friendly and yummy every time Ive been there :)
Best margarita’s in Japan. Fantastic food too! Can’t wait to go back
PERFECT TO HAVE A BREAK AFTER A LONG DAYThe boss, the waitress and waiters made all their possible for us to have the best time at Juntos! The dinner was exceptional and the drinks too. We had burritos and different tacos, it was so good! After we finished to have diner, we went to the bar to have some drink with Tia, the boss, we had some margaritas (recommend the Soucy one with jalapeños and cucumber). We felt as if we were home with some friends, it was perfect. Thanks Juntos ❤️ We’ll come back for sure.Jules and Victoire
Cool and friendly place. Good people and tasty food. Its out of season so they had time for a chat and helped us out with some good local knowledge that was really appreciated.
Staff is super friendly and speak English. One of the best Burritos I’ve had in Japan; they’re big! Cost benefit is amazing!
This is such a beautiful and cozy spot! Staff are always friendly and inviting. My favourites are the spicy margarita and the hot shots!!Not to be missed in Nozawa :)
Really nice Mexican. Staff are really great, fluent English speakers and keen to help. The food is very good and the pulled pork burrito with homemade sauces slapped on was a treat.
One of the best burritos I’ve had...period. The pulled pork was delicious and the homemade salsa was a perfect addition. The nachos were on a planet of their own. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend trying this place when staying at Nozawaonsen.
Great Mexican food in Nozawa! The home made salsas were amazing and the serving size of the main dishes ordered was very generous. Staff are very friendly and it was an all round great place! Cash only, as expected in Japan, but food is reasonably priced. Do try Juntos if youre in the area - it really is delicious!
Service, food, charm - excellent. She’s a cosy restaurant but well worth a visit
Cosy, fast service.Booking required.Alas, expensive burritos.... family of four is a minimum $120AUD.
Amazing food! Great place from a change from traditional Japanese! Friendly staff and all, service with a smile!
Authentic, delicious mexican food with local Nozawa rice. Warm vibe, friendly staff.
Ive travelled to Mexico and lived near the border plus I really love Mexican food. The carnitas and guacamole here are quite good. The prices for burritos, about $12-14 USD, are too high anywhere else but in a little ski resort town with only one Mexican restaurant. While there give it a try.
Small menu, but everythings good. Go early, before it gets crowded.
Best Mexican food in Nozawa!! The awesome staff and well made margaritas make you keep coming back for more!!
Delicious burritos! The best, most authentic I’ve had in Japan. So good I went twice during my four night stay in Nozawa Onsen
Ordered:1. Pulled pork burrito + Sour cream + Guacamole2. Cheese nachos + Salsa, sour cream, chipotle mayo3. Passionfruit margaritaPros:It took my girlfriend and I two whole days to finally find an amazing tasting restaurant in Nozawa. The price was justifiable as the taste of both dishes were amazing.Cons:My girlfriend ordered pulled pork on her nachos however she didnt receive it; she enjoyed the taste without it though anyway. The margarita was also very strong. Like 80% tequila strong. (Not necessarily a bad thing?)Overall, we both loved this place and are planning on coming back tomorrow night for more. 5 stars for sure.
horrible for food unless you’ve had a few to drink - then you wouldn’t notice it. Tasteless, lacking variety and seriously the chef is supposed to know his stuff.Taco Bell fans would love the tasteless food and those who hate choosing will love the fact the menu has no variety.Great if you like to have quite a few drinks before ordering because then you wouldn’t notice the taste. It’s a bar and unfortunately my husband booked for us to go here with our 13 year old. There were no other families there because everyone was getting drunk. Dumb on my husband’s part for choosing a place like this for a meal. Great of you want to have a few drinks. But not for food.Even the food I ordered didn’t come out right. They forgot half the things. The atmosphere is perfect if you want loud music and adults talking loudly after having quite a few drinks. It’s not for families and most certainly not for people who love great food. It’s all about the alcohol here. So if you love drinking lots then I highly recommend this place. It’s perfect if you’re with your mates.
Simply fantastic Mexican. Every dish was a delight and the drinks packed the appropriate punch. Service outstanding. A must visit.
Go here and eat! Im always cautious eastern non-Japanese food in Japan, but this place is bang on. You wont be disappointed! Good selection of vego food as well as meat dishes. Margaritas are deadly. Great atmosphere and staff.
Fantastic food, superb service and marvellous margaritas. We stumbled on this place after a long day skiing, starving hungry and happy to try something different. Very satisfied!
Fantastic Margaritas, Authentic Tacos, Great Service, Welcoming Atmosphere...Tia is doing it correct!
Really great food and drinks and super friendly staff
Great drinks, service and food. Highly recommend if craving Mexican.
Delicious food and incredibly friendly staff.Must try: pulled pork on rice with their salsa verde.
Fun atmosphere, great margaritas, delicious pulled pork burritos and to-die-for tomatillo salsa- yum!
Dropped in for a quick chicken burrito before the fire festival. Was fast and tasty. Definitely recommended. Maybe try Juntos for lunch when they offer their full menu
