6650 Niagara Pkwy, Niagara Falls, ON L2E 3E8, Canada, Shelburne
Year-round site where visitors see the falls from below & behind via tunnels & observation decks.
Definitely a must do, but not really a repeatable activity. We went just off season, so still warm enough, but not too busy. Be prepared for a lot of standing and walking ... There are no benches on which to take a break. Judging by the space allowed for the queue, the lines can be quite long.
Journey Behind the Falls is an amazing must-visit place in Niagara Falls. You get to be literally right next to the falling water and there is mist everywhere! Many people say you will get wet, however it’s not bad and you don’t really need to cover yourself. You can visit 2 places - the area next to the falls and a tunnel leading to a peek behind the falls. The reason I rated this 4/5 and not 5/5 is because when I visited in summer, the wait time was over 90 minutes, and we came early. After we left, I could see the time being over 3 hours, and for that length, it is rather underwhelming because honestly, I expected a bit more. However, it was still very cool to be THAT close to the falls.
The observation deck allowed for wonderful views of the falls from a new angle. Fabulous photo opportunity! The tunnels were interesting but you couldn’t see much. Still fun to see!
Through Fido i got tickets for 20% less than regular price. No lineup or wait at all to enter the attraction but we went on a weekend so there was a bit of a lineup to get to each portal I have done this attraction in the past as well and this was my first time ever having to wait in line for my turn to see the tunnels and take pictures. I guess its more busy after covid reopening still. The observation deck sports the same majestic view i remember of the falls. the noise of the water all around is super powerful. It wasn’t as crowded at the observation deck.Gigi at the Journey behind the falls counter located inside table rock was super helpful in issuing a refund for aerocar as it was not running due to high winds. she was kind throughout and apologized when it was not needed as it was beyond anyones control. she quickly resolved the issue before we could even ask for her to refund us.
My experience here felt so surreal. I was looking up right at the foot of a giant falls. The ticket lines were fast enough and the staff were all great and friendly especially to our dog. Lol also be prepared to get wet but they have ponchos you can wear anyway so it’s fine.
We went on Labor Day, fortunately that was a rainy day. So crowd was less, no line, we had ticket in advance ( a ticket is valid for whole year till 31st December). This is really amazing experience - I already had boat ride 2 years ago, this I did not do earlier. This tunnel walk is really worthy to understand the force and power of Niagara Falls plus we can have lot of close photo shoot with Niagara Falls.
We got a priority access just because we bought a package at the hotel but I would not recommend it if you have a lot of time in your hand because of the cost and the hidden charges this deals have. The line was long but its worth the wait given we have to line up. You get to experience the majestic Niagara falls up close and personal. It was fun. Everyone had a great time admiring the beauty of the falls despite being all wet aboard a boat as we get as close to the falls. Its once i a lifetime experience you shouldn’t miss once you visit Niagara or even Toronto, its just a couple of hours away.
It was an amazing experience that allowed us to see behind the falls. It feels so fascinating when your right next to the falls and feeling the water on yourself.Would recommend if you buy tickets online so you can escape the 30-40 mins long line.
Quite an experience to see so close the horseshoe falls in Niagara Falls Ontario Canada. Be prepared to fall in line and get wet. It’s better if you buy your pass ticket online rather then at the ticket counter. They provide ponchos so you don’t get wet. There are several tunnels to go through, the first tunnel exit goes to the observation deck besides the falls. The other tunnels exits leads behind the falls. Really quite an experience to see up close and hear the thundering waterfalls. Even with the ponchos your shoes still get wet. Better to go there on weekdays to avoid the long lines..
You descend down an elevator which takes you to the tunnels that run behind the falls. One of the tunnels takes you to 2 alcoves where you can view the falls gushing. The other tunnel leads to the decks right beside the falls where you can get awesome photos close up and personal with the Falls. Loved the ability to go into a tunnel under the Horseshoe Falls and peek out under the falls from 2 vantage points, as well as see the front of the falls from a platform just to the left of the falls. Most beautiful energetic experience, once in life time opportunity to feel the energy and power of falling water!
Disappointed. The attraction of viewing the Canadian horseshoe falls from a close outdoor platform was great. The view through the holes in the tunnels behind the falls was a once in a lifetime thing to see but really is just a curtain of rushing water. The attraction was inefficiently run. BUY YOUR TICKETS ONLINE. The line to buy them at the attraction was 40 min. long. Then there is another 30 minute wait for the elevator going down to the tunnels. Then there is another 30 minute wait in the tunnel to the viewing area behind the falls. A total of 1vhour and 40 minutes of waiting for 15-20 minutes of actual attraction.
This is definitely a missed; first of all the line to buy the tickets was long for a Tuesday & and the line to go to The Journey Behind The Fall was supervised by a craze and rude lady security guard. We. Had to go downstairs and waited in line for a long time. If you have medical issues with Standing, avoid this one. After that long line , it reminded me of standing in an amusement park.At least one would be outside for the amusement park ride instead in a Tunnel. Tip: wear shoes with traction; a lot signs about slipping while in the tunnel. The only bright spot was the outdoor section to see the water falls up close and the souvenir shop. When you are done, again another line to get back in the elevator. Nonstop lines and it wasn’t cheap either. If you do the boat cruise, you can avoid this one.
This was my third visit over a 50 year period. We took our Grand children this past Thursday. Bought tickets on line, redeemed these for passes up stairs at Table Rock and joined the line downstairs for the elevator to the tunnels. About a 15 minute wait. However, once we exited the elevator we were immediately in a line to enter the tunnel, there so many people coming out of the portal tunnel we couldnt get through to the shorter tunnel to the outdoor viewing area. After lining up 20 minutes we were outdoors and enjoyed the view for 10 minutes. There were lot of people coming and going as we walked to the first Portal. It took 15 minutes to get to the portal for a couple of minutes viewing. We lined up for the longer tunnel for 20 minutes without moving 20 feet. We turned around and lined up to leave. All in all we lined up in the tunnels for almost an hour and not being able to get to the furthest portal.Shame on Niagara Parks, for over filling the tunnels with guests. The line up to buy a ticket and wait for the elevator was smaller than the number of people actually in the tunnels. Once in the tunnel Niagara Parks had our money. It is a poorly run attraction when you pay for something that isnt available in a reasonable time.I would recommend Niagara Parks let people know before entering that you might have to spend more than an hour lining up in the tunnels for 10 or 15 minutes of actual sightseeing.
LINES!!!!!! Be prepared to stand in line! Purchase your tickets online ahead of time. With that being said, the experience was worth the wait. To stand below these massive falls was an amazing experience. Youll get a little wet but I enjoyed it so much that we felt we didnt need to take the boat ride to the falls. I recommend it
Pretty good experience to get a little closer to the falls. Youll definitely get soaked for sure but with the heat it is refreshing.I would skip the tunnel spots you dont really see anything and the lines are not worth it.When off the elevator just go straight to the opening and have fun.
This is a must, if youre visiting Canada! Seeing the falls from so close is a mesmerising experience which you should definitely try. There are a lot of infographics along the way in the tunnels which tell you about the history of the falls. Ensure you carry a clear film ziplock bag in case you want to take videos as the phone will malfunction because of the misty spray of water from the falls.Avoid wearing shoes as theyre bound to get soaking wet, prefer wearing sandals with a good grip!
First visit since 2007. Not much has changed really. Same beautiful (and wetviews and the crowds to deal with. The ponchos are necessary and you should probably keep them if you plan to visit the Power Station Tunnel. One thing of note is that people tend to line up for that last viewing area under the falls. It looks pretty much the same as the first one so its not worth it lining up. Even the staff goes around telling people this.
Its a very unique and mesmerizing experience of falls. I believe the journey behind the falls competes the full on Niagara falls experience. You can feel the real power of the water falling from such a great height. Very helpful and informative staff. You have to be careful as the floor is wet all the time because of the falls but all the safety in place.
Was an amazing experience that allowed us to see behind the falls and understand more about the amount of water and power that the falls have.It feels so fascinating when your right next to the falls and feeling the water on yourself.Taking pictures next to it was not so easy as there was hell lot of mist which will make you your camera and everything wetWould recommend if you buy tickets online so you can escape the line. Although we went on Canada day and we got the tickets easily in just 5-10 minutes wait.
It was fascinating to go and see what Niagara Falls looks like behind the actual falls. Informative signs explained the history of the waterfalls and the observation deck had excellent views. They provide plastic ponchos because there is lots of mist from the falls. The floors are also wet from this mist, so wear decent shoes. The tunnels were made during World War II and extend behind 1/3rd of the Canadian side of the falls. The websites online said to pay ahead and skip the line, but the line was not extensive even though we went on a Wednesday in June. Finding cheap parking is difficult. If I were to come again I think I would come through the New York side and park in the state park because it is cheaper, then walk across the border crossing to get to the Canadian side.
Great experience and perfect compliment to the boat tour. This was my first time to the falls and I was shocked at how close you actually get to them on this tour. It definitely conveys the power of the falls.
The most magical place on Earth 🤩🤩🤩The attraction worth every penny. You can feel the power of the Falls right in your body. Amazing!
Hard to rate.5 for the falls. Amazing. Powerful. Cool to go deep under the falls. Would do several times. But.1 for ticketing experience. Buy tickets on line then stand in an hour + line to turn in electronic tickets for paper ones. So annoying.
Went to this place over the weekday and the crowd was not much but still queue was there. The view of the falls was really amazing when seeing it very close. There are three view points on this journey behind the falls. Two points were behinds the falls and third one is just outside to the falls.
The first time you go, its really impressive to see the falls that close. Its really a "must see it once in my life" type of attraction. This year was our second time and the wow facter was a little less there. There isnt really anything to do down there except taking a few pictures inside the tunnel (they dont have interactive gallery or lightning and only have a few wall boards with historical facts while waiting in linebecause they dont want you to stay down there too long. Its pretty much take the elevator, wait in line 30-40 min, take a quick picture or 2 behind the falls and please go back quickly waiting in line for the elevator to let others take pictures too.Like I said, recommended to see it 1 time in your life but since nothing was added in 10 years, dont expect anything new after.
Me and my partner were working for Niagara parks on a campaign and visited this site, very friendly staff and organized system. Definitely worth the visit in Niagara. You get a free poncho which you can keep and great view of the falls from the bottom and also behind the falls via tunnels.
This is an amazing tour and I definitely recommend to do it once your in town. You go behind the fall and see how powerful it is. Also, there is a viewing deck just by the fall on the water level for taking pictures and experiencing the fall very closely. It costs about $30 and takes about half an hour to go visit all the spots.
This is definitely one of the tourist trap. We went for the tunnels one. It’s nothing to see. Just a hole with a barricaded to feel the crashing waters from the falls. Didn’t see anything else than the crashing waters. The best is the outside spot but seriously, it’s not worth the money if you are running out of time. I would not recommend based on my personal experiences.
This attraction is a walking tunnel that is constructed behind the hotshot falls. You go to the tunnel via an elevator that takes you straight down more than 100 feet. When you arrive at the bottom you can hear the roar of the falls when the elevator doors open. There is a viewing area that allows you to go outside the tunnel and stand very close to the falls. Rain jackets are provided as you can get quite wet if you go closer to the mist of the falls. There is a wego stop right in front of this attraction - we purchased the Adventure Pass which includes 48 hours of free wego bus rides which stop directly in front of all attractions included in the pass. I would highly recommend this attraction and the adventure pass.
This is a must do. Being that close to the raw power is intense. And will get wet, even with a poncho! Good posters describing the history of the Falls and the tunnels.
Not sure where to begin. We arrived here approx. 11am on a Wednesday morning for this attraction (in early June - Off Season?). The review below is based on our experience and also feedback from folks waiting in line with us.-2 stars for how the lines were managed even before you got started with the attraction. We bought tickets online... but that did not help our cause to speed through the check-in line. Everyone has to go through it. It took us approx. 1.5hrs to get through the line. If you are travelling with small kids plan for at least a 1-2 hour wait even before you made it to the attraction.-1 star for not living up to its Hype. Just my POV. For the amount of wait, we literally went in and got out in 30 minutes. Unless you are interested in History, dont expect to spend too much time here. Especially if you have young kids - its a few dark tunnels with a few boards with information - some tunnel with water flowing and you can get good pictures super close to the falls....but the question you have to ask yourself - is it worth the wait and the frustration of your kids for a few pictures.I did want to mention that there was no wait for the attraction entrance around 2.30pm (but use this time guidance with caution - because you and multiple other folks reading this review will plan for this and end up driving the crowd to the later time)In hindsight - I wish we could have skipped this altogether. Now you are fully informed to make that call.
Really great walk thru the tunnels into the falls; one is just splashing but the second is more active and varied. The observation decks are great. Easy enough for a partial disabled with a cane. Pro tip: disabled gets to bring a Companion free! Thanks-
Eh... The journey felt underwelming. It is a good experience if you want to see the falls up close. The actual view behind the falls is nothing to wait for. Its like you are watching heavy rain from an open window, you dont see anything. On our weekend visit, we had to wait in a line to get an elevator to leave. Again its a good bargain if you dont want to go on a boat ride but want to get close to the falls
Cartoon movie to tell the story how the fall’s history. The 5D environment to feel wind, raining, thunder, movement . Strongly recommend the family who have kids. The kids should be love this experience. Suggest to purchase the package ticket which is more price saving .
Incredible experience !!! Worth every penny we paid . They first direct you to tunnel under the falls , it is fascinating and a bit scary to feel the power of the water really. Then we walked to the deck. Here you see the falls upclose , close enough to get soaking wet 😁Staff was very informative from the beginning till the end , they provide ponchos which you will need it %100 so dont try to man up or fancy up lolI highly recommend purchasing tickets online. The ticket line was too long but since we have purchased the tickets we skipped that long line which is a big plus. There is no time limit , once you enter the tunnel you can spend as much as time you want . So take your time and enjoy one of the best experience you can get.
Journey behind the falls was the most fun that I’ve ever had. It was like an adult amusement park. You could see the water right in front of you and it would often blow right on your face and drenched you completely soaked. So worth it and I would do this over and over again if I could.
I had an blast visiting Niagara Falls. I only paid for journey behind the Falls. I would only pay for 2 attractions out the rest. I would definitely come back. Stop here once you get into town. Please invite me back so I can experience other Attractions.
This is must visit if you are in this area. Experience the powerful waterfall and great view. It’s $23 CN per person. There are gift shops in the same tourist building.
It was spring break. And ticket was cheaper and no waiting long. Happy about we went there not in summer time. They said you need to wait over an hour in the summer time~ no boat at this time so that we tried journey behind the falls. And I am glad that we did it!!!!
Totally worth it! Not crowded in April and a good way to see the falls up close and personal. I loved to hear the rushing water and the occasional blast of the water hitting me as I looked out of the key hole. The look out point is spectacular, a big area with a covered top and open bottom. You are right next to the falls. And you get wet! I loved it.
Wow simply incredible to experience this. Pictures just dont cut it. The elevator ride down is quick and the tunnel can be claustrophobic but its something you have to see and feel. The power of the falls can be heard and felt when inside 1 of 2 observation tunnels but going out on the observation deck to see the Horseshoe fall is amazing and yes you will wet. Ponchos provided and just the overall trip was well worth it.
My favorite experience while in Niagra! It gives you such an up close view of the falls and even though it was off season its still open to the public so you can bask in the glory of the falls. You can literally feel the waves crashing beside you. An experience I think all should have. 💖
It was amazing to see the falls let alone going UNDER THEM! When we heard this was an option we had to do it. The sound is incredible! You get the most amazing views from ground level and the photos youll take home is so memorable. Cost is on point, we didnt think it was expensive for what youre getting.
Seeing the falls behind through portal is just an experience and nothing much to enjoy. Outstanding part in this whole part is viewing the falls in different angle from viewing deck js something that no one can miss.
Pretty awesome experience to get behind and beside Niagara Falls. Highly recommended! Would love to go back in the summer for the refreshing spray on the observation deck. Just unbelievable how they were to dig these tunnels and portals through the layers of rock.
Great experience and well worth doing if you have the time well down at the falls. Best done on a warm sunny day as you will get wet but thats just part of the experience. Reasonably priced extra to add to your familys trip to the falls
Breathtaking scenery and a wonderful experience. Buy your pass online and save more money. You have the opportunity buy a wonder pass for $25 and youll have access to three attractions. Journey behind the falls, butterfly conservatory, fury of the falls.
Even though it’s been quite a while since last visited the falls, it definitely did not disappoint but rather enhanced the sense of wonder and extraordinary beauty! And after a brief sun shower, a timely rainbow covered the falls. Park at the Skylon $15/day with optional access to stairs leading to Fallsview Blvd (wooded footpath to street level but not suitable for strollers or young children unless you’re prepared to piggyback:)
Fantastic way to see the falls. Up close and personal. The tunnel has panels for more information about the tunnel and the falls. If you were expecting to see the back, back of the falls... You might be disappointed but at the same time, how much would you really see. I believe the "behind"/side is perfectly acceptable. The platform decks are in a way the best view compared to the back.Plus you get to see where you were standing "behind the falls". Its a thing to experience and not one to describe. Worth the trip and worth to get wet for.
Such a great experience! The sound of the falls travels through the stone into the tunnels. You can feel the power of the falls right above you. Seeing the falls from back side is surreal. When you go to the lower viewing platform you can’t help but be in awe of the majesty. Makes sense why they call it a great wonder of the world!!
