Longtime, old-school American institution with vintage decor & daily specials for breakfast & lunch.
Chicken soup was delicious. They didn’t have the tenderloin on the menu so that’s disappointing and I went for a cheeseburger instead. It was alright, nothing to rave over. Cute decor
Wasn’t sure how it would go. It was 7:30 on a Monday morning and it was empty. But the server was friendly, the order came out quickly and it was perfect!! Lots of Route 66 goodies in the diner. Great for Route 66 travelers. Y the way, I got the breakfast with Corned Beef Hash!!
Cuz five would be insane out of the park food, you know, it was decent. If four and a half was an option I would put it. That poor waitress, she had everybody.
Awsome split pea soup and the the Reuben was huge and perfectly made all for 10 bucks on a half hour lunch,my new fave
Great food and atmosphere!
Very disappointed with my overall experience here. The food looked great but the pancakes were burnt on one side. I would have brought this up to my waitress but she never came back to ask how my food was. I ordered an orange juice as well that I never got. It was a long wait to order my food but it came out extremely fast. I will give them that at least. The eggs and toast were good, but the sausage links were okay and the pancakes were bad. I do hope they see this and make some changes. Doubt I will be back here.
Great breakfast location. Omlets are very good.
Great to experience a diner!
There was 1 waitress on shift. She was in much need of help. The food and service was very terrible here.
Good food. A bit expensive but it was overall a good place.
The food was ok. I had a bacon egg and cheese on a croissant and it was alright, but the bottom of the croissant was a bit hard. There was only 2 people in the resturant, one to cook and one to do everything else. With just the two of them there, they did rock it!! Good job guys!
Crunchy Almond French Toast for the win!
The food is good but the waitress was slow. Toke her 15min to take my order and I was on my lunch break. Then I asked for coffee and she told me its to late too make an other batch of coffee because they were closing in 20 min. Then I asked for ice tea and she said the same thing. Then says she didnt teally have time because she was going to a concert.
Great place! Fast, friendly service. Food was hot and good!
I love this place. Classic Rt. 66, Americana charm. Just a simple diner, reasonable prices, fast service. A go-to favorite for a neighborhood breakfast.
Good restaurant to order & eat breakfast or lunch at, good place to get coffee.
Lovely place. Excellent food and waitress. And Im tough on my opinions.
This is a good place to eat.food is good like you can cook at home.good amount of food for God price. The boss Tony is a cool and strict boss he keeps the place running smoothly
Little diner in downtown Joilet, about a block from Harrahs Casino & Hotel. We stopped in for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised, Sorry, we were so hungry we forgot to take pics, lol. I had a corned beef hash omelette that was pretty darn tasty if you like hash from the can ( I grew up with it If youre looking for fancy any way shape or form, dont stop...but, if youre looking for an old fashioned diner experience, check em out!! Good food & portions for a good price! 🙂
Beautiful, homey place, excellent service and food, classic local diner.
Just incredible. So many choices and all good too. You are doing yourself a disservice if you dont stop in.
Stopped driving through for a lunch and breakfast combo. Extremely inexpensive for above average food. Eggs and hash browns were perfect. Great food for the very low price. Great place to stop traveling for a step back in time and good food.
Super friendly service, great food, small diner vibe. This was our second time stopping here for breakfast. We have been doing the annual Route 66 Red Carpet Corridor and breakfast at the Joliet Route 66 Diner is a great way to start the journey. See ya next year!
Pleasant service, great food & great prices within the coolest vibe !
Lets start with the internal temperature. Its HOT IN HERE. Like standing in a hot kitchen hot.The staff. It seems one who knows what they are doing, calm cool and collected. The other is running around like a chicken with their head cut off and verbally complaining about their job at a level customers can hear. The third might be a younger child of a staff member helping out, on their phone alot and moping around. The food. French toast good. But if a tall stack is three slices, what is a short stack?Eggs, NO seasoning. Grits i think are instant because they were a clump like a wet dumpling and sludgy watery also with no seasoning.I would not reccomend this place. They are maybe an 1/8th full. I cant imagine this place busy.
Im from Chicago Heights and had to go to court so figured Id come here with my Auntie. I ordered oatmeal with Eggs & cheese! Order came up very promptly, food was Hot,and our waitress was Amazing! Ill be back next month early for sure! 🇺🇲😎✌️💯
First time here today with our Model A Ford group! Good food, great coffee, service and reasonable prices! Will be back!Back again today, 2-12-22 with the Model A Club. Terrific food and service. Love this cozy place!
I loved the atmosphere of this diner. The pancakes were so good I had to get more for the rode. The location that it is in isnt so bad also and had a easy time getting to it for it being in downtown Joliet.
Cant say enough good things about this place. The food is always great and the staff are extremely friendly and attentive. Whenever we are in Joliet, we always have breakfast at this homestyle restaurant.
Reminiscent of the 1950’s Diner along the nostalgically fabulous US Route 66. Open for Breakfast and Lunch only, “The Joliet Route 66 Diner” located in Downtown Joliet, just 2 blocks from the Harrahs casino. My first impression was of how IMMACULATELY CLEAN the place was !! and the decor comfortably fit the theme of the diner. The waitstaff was kind and accommodating, with the understanding that they were very short staffed. The selections offered on the menu were plentiful and abundant at a very reasonable price and this place is kid friendly too. If you’re looking for a comfortable spot to have breakfast with a group or by yourself at the comfortable 14 seat counter or a quick take-out lunch this is the place. enjoy!!
Superb french toast, plenty of options, healthy dishes
Ive only ever had breakfast here. But everytime its been really good. Food is good, service is good, and price is cheap. I really like the atmosphere and decor. Its like stepping back in the past.
Place has a nostalgic atmosphere, menu had a lot to offer. Coffee was great diner old school coffee that gives you that needed punch. Food was a bit on the plain side. My potatoes had no seasoning, omelet was a bit on the loose side, could have been cooked longer, the fresh mushrooms in my omelet were not pre-sauted so they was undercooked and they was giant chunks not sliced. I ended up taking it home and cooking it longer. My sisters biscuits appeared to be ready made frozen biscuits warmed on the flat top griddle. She asked for her gravy on the side and they gave her a bowl of gravy and put some on her biscuits which she did not want, she wanted to add her own gravy. At best overall bland mediocre food.
I met up with a group of friends in Joliet. We had selected the Route 66 Diner for breakfast. There were eight of us. Sat down, talked, ordered, talked and ate. I am sorry to have to write this, but I was unfortunately disappointed. I was so expecting to really enjoy my meal here, I mean this joint fits a great niche in downtown Joliet. But it fell short.I know that Covid has been screwing around with businesses and peoples jobs and the supply chain... so Im gonna say that had something to do with it.The waitresses there were ALL very friendly, quick to respond and really did a good job.Buuuut.... the coffee was just bad, and like Tom Waits said once " the coffee was so weak it couldnt defend itself". My grits were room temperature and watery, and the pre-sliced and plastic wrapped cheese wasnt melted. My omelets ingredients didnt have to be overflowing, but they werent too generous either. Now perhaps the owner will make a couple of good changes, I dont think it would take a lot. I would go back there. I know it wasnt the Ritz... and I wasnt expecting the Ritz either. I wasnt chintzy with my tip either.Just wanted some great Joe, hot thick grits and a good, hot 3 egg omelet that I can taste those ingredients.Ill go back there to hang with the boyz from Illinoiz again.
Perfect little greasy spoon with the Route 66 kitsch you want in a place like this. Big portions, great comfort foods. Also: they have grits! I dont often see grits thus far north, and it made me very happy.
Went in on a recommendation; was pleasantly surprised on dinning experience. Dinning room was well kept; clean and odor free. Even short staffed (which is a warning on door sign as you walk inwe were waited on promptly. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. Food was good; portion and price was comparable. Will definitely be patronizing this business and trying different meals!😋😊
Outstanding service! Happy staff and fast hot food is what we received every visit. Cozy cute and at home environment. This place is a gem! Love it that you can just seat yourself and be in and out in a jiffy. Keep up the amazing work, we appreciate you all.
Took a day trip and stumbled upon this diner. They were closing in half an hour but still let as take a seat and order. The food was absolutely delicious especially since they were about to close. I had the bbq beef deluxe and fries. The beef was so tender and the bbq sauce was delicious. The fries were fried to crunchy perfection. My mother had a hamburger that she said was good. 10/10 recommend this diner.
Great American diner experience! Cant get any more simple then that! Great service from the waitresses, food came quickly and HOT!..I was very surprised at that..they have perfected the Lost Art of GREAT SERVICE!..2 MINUTES FROM THE BASEBALL STADIUM! ⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️! Oh, i forgot to mention.THE COST OF THE FOOD WAS UNBELIEVABLE! GLAD THIS PLACE EXIST!
I had the Monte Cristo blue plate special, hubby had the fish and chips. Both were out of this world wonderful. Best fries ever and the creamy chicken and rice soup was excellent. Friendly, great service and atmosphere! Highest recommendations! 👍👍
After an early morning baseball game at the stadium, we were looking for a good breakfast place. Glad we found the Route 66 Diner. The food was just what we wanted - gravy and biscuits for the wife and eggs, hashbrowns, corned beef hash and toast for me. To top it off, the prices were great, the food came quick and the service was friendly. The nostalgia on the walls are reminiscent of an "old time diner".We loved it!
nice place! very good food, would recommend the meat lovers skillet
The food and service are always outstanding! I have never had a bad experience at the diner. There is such a variety. The omelets wont leave you hungry and the breakfast croissants are extremely filling. For lunches I enjoy the soup and sandwiches. The Chicken Tortilla soup on Wednesdays is my favorite. I like how I can get fruit instead of fries. Even though I love the fries, Im trying to eat healthier. With the Turkey Club I can eat half and save the other half.
Without a doubt the best breakfast in Joliet.Walked in the door at 9:05 ordered at 9:07 got our food at 9:09.everything was cooked perfect and the waitress was super nice.Very reasonable prices
Good food for good price. Youll get your moneys worth. Good service too!
My family and I were in town for the weekend and stumbled across this place. We have kids ages 7-14 and they were all very happy with their breakfast choices including pancakes, eggs, hash browns, and bacon. The veggie omelet was tasty and the skillets were given good marks by others in our group. The portion sizes were large and filling and there were many choices available. The servers were pleasant and attentive. We would recommend this restaurant and would return if we are back in Joliet. Thanks for the great meal.
It was very good. And the price amazed me. $6 for eggs hash brown and a slice of toast
This really the information center for Route 66. Some information was good. Also visited the Rialto theatre, which was closed. The Route 66 diner was pretty regular. Easy walk around town to get to the Route 66 places.
This family owned business is a must for old fashioned diner lovers. I go almost every weekend since I found it for breakfast. The staff are friendly and they actually make long lasting connections with their clients.
Formerly named The Joliet Restaurant, i was impressed with the food portions and cheap prices! Theres always daily specials, even mite of a great deal. I ordrered the hot dog special complete with chicken noodle soup and french fries $4 and coffee. My daughter ordered the kids breakfast special, 1 pancake, 1 sausage patty, and scrambled eggs with a drink, $4. Total bill $12+. Wait staff kept checking up on us and always filled my coffee and water.Christmas tree was still up and we didnt mind because we needed that festive spirit. Old school posters and retro toy cars were filled throughout the place.Meter parking is $1 per hour in front the restaurant and small free library parking lot right next to the place as well. Connected to the hotel plaza and across the street of a library.
