What a gem I found in Westport!Fantastic Vegan options big meal too. Open from 11am to late you can dine anytime. Came here 3 times during my stay in Westport something for all the family. Cosy fire and super friendly staff thank you for your hospitality will definitely be back!

Just been to johnnys tonight the waitress was very polite and friendly and went above duty to make it special for my daughter. The meals were delicious the steak was cooked perfectly thanks to the chef (Chris). Will definitely be going back. Thanks everyone.

The food was good, but the customer service was a bit lacking. We pointed out that Google says they close at 7pm, which nearly put us off coming for dinner, but they werent too fussed by the error and said that the sooner people leave, the sooner they themselves can go home 🤷. Im not sure why youd want to be in hospitality if you dont really want customers to know youre open ....

Great place.. decent menu, with the all important whitebait! Great service , reasonable prices and friendly folks running the place. Cant ask for more really. So we went twice.

Chicken came out raw. Staff all seemed confused and unsure how to do their jobs. Asked for no tomato, meal came out with tomato. Would not recommend. Couldnt wait to leave and go elsewhere for dessert. A shame as it seemed to have many good reviews.

Sadly would not recommend or go back, However they did refund 1 meal.. I dont often review this low but totally disappointed . Most of the Food was undercooked and tasteless and dinner was really slow to come out. A Monday evening too. Come on Johneys you can do better! Most of your other reviews are great. Two stars are for the refund and nice mash.

Came here after cycling the old ghost road, I had the chicken burger which was epic, really delicious crusty bread, succulent grilled chicken with the pesto and it was so cheesy. The guys I was with had the tacos and they said they were amazing. Couldnt resist the sticky date pudding to share and we didnt regret it!!! Thanks for the feed and the awesome service guys, much enjoyed after a hard bike ride! I will be back for the tapas!!!

Absolutely awesome food, the meat just fell off the shank, the mashed potatoes were so creamy and the greens were fresh and crunchy. The fish was tasty. Service was friendly and professional.

What a wonderful restaurant! We came for a pre-organized bulk booking, and they managed all 20+ of us so efficiently and well. Turns out that what I had ordered (Pot of Musselsare no longer on their menu, but they did them for me anyway. They were very yummy! I looked at other meals around me and they all looked so good, especially the salmon. The staff are amazingly attentive and looked after every need we had quickly and well. Highly recommend Johnnys!

Lovely and helpful staff, plenty gluten-free meals and desserts, delicious food and lovely atmosphere. Inside is very nice, but not so posh that you feel the need to be dressed up. Overall great experience, and will definitely go again if I am in the area. :)(Sorry for bad photo quality, my phone camera is busted)

Came here for dinner after a 20km hike. Such a welcoming and helpful team.Great tasting food, very knowledgeable about allergies.They offer a great range of Gluten free options, and their food is very well presented.Beautiful photos of the west coast adorn the walls, nice private booths, or tables for over 4 people, as well as options to sit outside in the fresh air.All staff working here, were all constantly busy which is always good to see.We will most certainly be coming back when we visit Westport.If there was an option for 10 stars, I would definitely have given Johnnys 11.

One of the better places in Westport... good selection of entrees... some local beers on tap and generous mains... desserts not bad either ... especially the affogato

If you like Whitebait Fritters this place creates the best Whitebait Fritters. They are so fresh and the serve was an excellent size for a main.

Best place in town!! Huge portion sizes. BEST PASTA I HAVE EVER TASTED. we went to celebrate having closed on our first home. When the staff learned what we were celebrating, they brought us champagne on the house! Wonderful service and very welcoming atmosphere.

Superb food, wonderful service. Johnny and the team have curated a great menu, but it’s still got a distinctly Westport feel. Wine list is limited but reasonable quality, nice range of craft beers. And servings of everything are generous.

Absolutely stunning food! The mussels were freshly steamed in beer - a refreshing change to most wine-based methods. Whitebait fritters were an absolute delight! And the rig fish was surprisingly sweet and perfectly cooked. Also kudos to the great and attentive service. My family and I had a fantastic dinner. Thanks Johnny!

We came here on a Sunday for something a bit special as it was the first time Id been out in Westport. I was not disappointed. I had the Philly Cheese Steak and in total honesty it was the nicest thing I can remember eating.Everything about this dish was incredible; from the toasted bun; to the perfectly cooked steak and the delicious cheese; the right amount of salad and the exceptional sauce (gravy?that was running from it.The venue itself was nicely decorated with some fantastic photos throughout and the staff were helpful and friendly.I will definitely be returning.

This was a disappointing experience, mainly due to our meal which was quite tasteless and seemed of poor quality. Both my partner and I ordered smoked chicken and bacon pasta, since it sounded amazing. However, neither of us could finish it because the chicken tasted like reheated deli cold meats, bacon was nowhere to be found and the overall meal was just not tasty.It didnt help that we were left waiting for service, and were attended to after another table which came after us.

Food quality and chef’s skills excellent .Service great, young girl and more seniors attentive and enquiring but not over the top.Music excellent , wish these gentlemen played in Christchurch.Will call next time in Westport .

Came in late hungry and thirsty, the staff was amazing! Even though the kitchen was closed they were able to arrange some tapas and dishes for us! Great food and atmosphere as well!
