Johnnie MacCracken's Celtic Firehouse Pub in Marietta
Description
Privilege
They have really good stouts
Wow! This place is a gem! I dont think Ive ever had such a good smoked tuna sandwich before. Stephanie can whip up food that will blow you away. This place is packed with friendly faces, fantastic food, and a great selection of alcohol. The service is fast and friendly and makes you feel like youre at a family pub.
MoreCame to this old firehouse because I thought it would be very neat to visit, as a firefighter myself. When I went in and spoke to the bartender he was very rude from the get go. I asked if they had any discounts for current first responders/firefighters and he got very put off and firmly said “absolutely not”. I then proceeded to try to order dinner and drinks and they were very short/rude and I decided to take my family elsewhere. The service was not at all what I expected and I am VERY disappointed.
MoreNice liquor/beer selections and good vibes. Eric has provided solid customer service and the food is great. 10/10
MoreMy son and his fiance were recently married in the Marietta Square. We contacted MacCrackens to provide food and drinks for about 25 people after the ceremony. They had Shepards Pie, Irish Nachos, a Patak Sausage platter and 2 types of chicken wings. The food was off the chain good and the bar service was simply stellar. Shelby was our bartender and they did an amazing job. I cant say enough about this place as we moved our celebration to the beer garden where they had a great band playing. Thanks you Gary, Kathy, Ali, Gains, and Shelby for making our event one for the ages.
MoreGreat place and service! So delicious fish and chips! Highly recommend 🤩
Fun bar environment with and outside patio out back. Great liquor selection. Pub style food options
MoreWe had so much fun, celebrating my boyfriends 50th birthday!
This is the coolest old time dive bar that is worth it. Go in and have a drink and try to leave. You cant. Loved this place on my first visit.
MoreGreat place for a beer, very cool culture. Outside sidewalks and places nearby with a large festive area behind the building with additional space and a bar. Bathroom is somewhat small but there are other places nearby.
MoreThis is a good pub, with just the right amount of homey touches to be comfortable. Laid back feel. The food is okay. The service is friendly.
MoreStood here waiting on someone and the girl comes out around 3:00 on 8-25- 22 and said I will be right right with yall. We left at 3:16 we have babies in the NICU and was just trying to get some lunch. This was disappointing considering we heard great things about it. We wont be back unfortunately that was so rude.
MoreMacCrackens has stand-up comedy on Monday nights at 9. Its free but some of the comics are pretty good. Beer and food selections a pretty good for a pub. They have a little bit of everything just not a huge selection.
MoreI was looking for a place to go on a Monday night and when I googled places, thankfully this place popped up! I went in to check it and loved it! There was Monday night comedy, the bartender was great and the appetizer was good! I would most definitely revisit!
MoreI absolutely love this place! I make it a point to come to this bar at least once a month.
MoreJust because a restaurant has been around for many years, doesnt make it good (McDonalds). I wont even post the picture. So many more options in the square...I dont recommend this restaurant at least NOT FOR FOOD.
MoreLooked like a pretty good place to decompress before a first date -- Ill take a dark Irish bar any day of the week. Walked in and ordered a diet Coke, and was told I was on the all-ages side -- Id have to go to the other side to have my drink. What-the-what? So I was directed to go back outside and use the other door simply to have my non-alcoholic beverage.Anyway, an alright place if in the area but not worth a special trip. Probably wouldnt go back just to avoid picking the wrong door again.
MoreDecided to try this place bc I love pubs & pub food. Place wasnt crowded at all, so I figured service would be fairly quick. We sat at the bar, which is normal for us. The bartender eventually served us drinks & eventually took our food orders, which took way longer than expected. We had the Irish American Corned Beef & Cabbage & the Irish Surf & Turf. Food was very good, & prices were very reasonable. My only major complaint was that the staff was not friendly at all. Perhaps they were as hung over as we were, or they were all having bad days. If I lived in the area, it would still be a regular haunt for me. Love the layout of the place, & loved the history of the place.
MoreSuper nice service. Not overly busy. Really great food to share. Great drinks. Worth a try, and could become a regular place to hang out. Live music, but not too loud. Awesome. 👍
MoreGreat place, great atmosphere, terrible bartender. Will be back, just hope not to get that guy again. outside seating in the back is pretty cool as is the library area. downstairs they really need to make useful
MoreAbsolutely LOVED this place! Amazing atmosphere, friendly staff, good food, and a great selection of beer. Their reuben sandwich is a definite must have! Well be back to try more things from their menu.
MoreExcellent food and beverage options and always excellent service here. The bangers and mash are particularly outstanding. The beer selection is also very impressive
MoreHad a Fabulous Mothers Day, Delicious 😋 Food!:)
A few weeks ago I ordered an old fashioned and thought it was lackluster. I got another from another bar recently and realized the McCracken one was awful. Was extremely watered down and, in retrospect, disappointing.
MoreCame in on 4/29/22 around 6:05. The bar did get busy upon our arrival. We sat at the bar and saw the bartender was busy, and in an attempt to make things a little easier, went to the register to order drinks. I ordered two drinks and got one immediately and was told my other one would be there in a minute. I sat and watched as every person in the bar got a drink and even walked up to the register to see if maybe I had been forgotten. When I realized my beer wasn’t coming, I paid for my friends beer and headed out. I get being busy but there were several couples around us that had got their whole drink order and food orders in, and somehow I was overlooked. Kind of bummed out cause this place seemed cool.
MoreThis place was pretty cool, Ive never been and I had heard that the food was really good there. I was a little disappointed that I couldnt eat the fish-and-chips because they fry all of the fish and shellfish in the same oil so that was a little of a bum but what I ordered was good.
MoreThey no longer carry 3 of the top beers Ive always went to them for. The staff was still super helpful so I gave 4 stars, but I doubt Ill be back until we get Magners again!
MoreBasically the Paddys Pub of Marietta. The crowd is always fun, the beers are great, and the food is filling pub faire. The owners are amazing and it shows how much they care about their staff. The fact that they survived the pandemic shutdowns and COVID waves is a testament to their resilience and how much the Marietta community enjoys their company. So to the staff of MacCrackens, I toast to your continued success. Save me a chair at the bar. Sláinte!
MoreThis place exudes coolness from every nook and cranny. Extremely interesting interior a bunch of great Celtic themed decorations. The food is as spectacular! Ive never had anything bad, the corned beef & cabbage is unreal. If youre looking for drinks, they have everything you could want. I go often whenever Im in Marietta. Love this place!!!
MoreI have loved this place since the first time I stepped inside 8 years ago. When you walk in you go up 3 stairs theres a bar on the right, see ASHLEY!!!!! She is amazing!!!! I generally come in on Sundays with a group and she always hooks us up w suggestions, drinks and good company. Theres a karaoke, sot down area to your left.. walk further theres bathrooms to your right then a couch lounge area w books and games across from that is the back bar and the best part ... **drumroll please **go out the back door and theres usually a bonfire with a live band! This place holds so much charm and genuine people. I love it !
MoreDirty dirty dirty. The place needs a thorough scrubbing, as it appears to have years of scum accumulated on everything. Years ago, the food was good with good portions, but now theyve slimmed it down - with no bread offered with the corned beef which is not good any longer. Sad. Wont be going back after all these years. Plus, the staff is very indifferent & unfriendly - so yeah, theres that.
MoreWhen ever I’m in town that’s definitely my go to great selection of beers and spirits. Food is exactly what it should be prices are fair, service is friendly
MoreA fairly standard Irish themed bar and pub. Locals seem to love it and are quick to point out the sawdust floors. I will give credit they the cod fish and chip is very good. If you’re in the area it’s worth a stop but I wouldn’t trek to a Marietta specifically for this.
MoreFood was good. Great whiskey selection. Our service was excellent. The kitchen seems to move very slowly though. Took about 30 minutes for chicken fingers and fries, place wasnt very busy.
MoreGreat spot to grab a casual drink, later hours make it perfect for a crawl or night owls. Super casual, friendly & relaxed bartends lounge, table and bar seating available, all self serve/order at bar.Wouldnt recommend going on a Monday, half the restaurant is closed for deep clean and the only other half open is open mic stand up. Im a big fan of open mic events but the bar is set so low for the people that go up and the few times I went was always cringe or garbage on stage.
MoreNot a big fan of fish, but the Fish & Chips here is excellent. Great flavor without tasting fishy. Good value
MoreA real family run bar. They take pride in what they do and solve problems. Food can be inconsistent but the drink selection is good and the bartenders are good company. They used to have a buffet with corned beef and bangers on it, that was a deal! They source meats from Pataks. One of the few bars in the metro area where you can mingle with everyone, its not just a bunch of groups going out only to talk among themselves. A blessing to the community
MoreVery well done Irish pub. I think a true Irish person would feel right at home. I’m only a quarter but the beer/liquor selection is pretty impressive and the food is very good. Don’t let a few bad service reviews put you off. Usually quite good.
MoreWe booked a whiskey tasting and dinner with friends for my husbands birthday and we had such a great time. The owner, Gary, did the tasting and had lots of stories during the tasting, along with a lot of history and explanation between the different types of whiskey. When he found out it was my husbands birthday, he gave him a shot of a rare whiskey from his collection which my husband highly enjoyed. I had the grilled cheese and fries and it was delicious. There was a great selection for beers on tap - they had at least 3 different sours on tap which isnt common for me to find and I very much enjoyed it. Will definitely be back!
MoreSo GOod! Service was amazing! The food and beer recommendations was spot on. Love the atmosphere and THE FOOD! Yall so good!
MoreI LOVE McCrackens! This place never disappoints and they make the best fish & chips, hands down, in Georgia. Their Black and Tan is also the cleanest pour Ive ever seen. Highly recommend coming here if you are in Marietta/Smyrna area!
MoreI’m giving this place 5 stars because of the atmosphere and friendly folks that frequent here. I got the fried green tomatoes, which were terrible, but the beer was great and the bartender was absolutely fantastic. I would go there for a beer again. The food? Probably not.But who cares, it’s a bar and the people are sweet.
MoreIt was not particularly busy when we arrived, though it was busier when we left. Great selection of Scotch and Bourbon. I tried the Blackadder Peat Reek raw cask Scotch for a good Peat experience. The bangers and mash were wonderful, fish was done but a little too greasy. Cheeseburger and fries were definitely a winner. Service could have been improved.
MoreThis place is freaking awesome. If youre looking for a great atmosphere and amazing irish food look no further. Also these guys have one of the best beer selections Ive ever seen. Thank you to the new waitress that served us btw, really made the experience that much better and did an excellent job offering some beer samples which helped make the right decision.
MoreThe atmosphere of an outside bar, live music, and people sitting around an actual wood fire is great. Someone brought their dog. It was just like hanging out at a backyard party. Very enjoyable.
MoreAbsolute MUST !!! Top top notch food incredible beer selection outdoor front and back courtyard seating. Live music on the weekends and fire pit! Located at the Marietta Square.
MoreGreat bar. You just can’t build new places to be like that. It takes years and decades to develop a vibe like that. Plenty of rooms, upstairs, downstairs, outside, etc. Great service and drink selection. Beer list had 11 pages and drink list over 13 pages... loved it!
MoreNice menu of craft beers that is about eight pages long. Great environment. Enjoyed the Belgium Owl Whiskey, and the small buffet that had great dishes like the Irish meat pie.
MoreAwesome restaurantGreat food, fun, and ambiance. We Loved everything. Buffet was great and Fish and Chips were the bomb as usual. Cold Beer of many sorts and whiskey.
MoreGood food, and for the prices they offer it, its a steal. Have a great selection of beer, and the veggie burger here is actually pretty good. Fish and chips are amazing!
