John Selden - Pub in Victoria, Chile
Best pub in Worthing.
Had party there in back room a couple of weeks ago. Staff very helpful and friendly. Even got in during the day to decorate the room.
Very friendly pub good food and a good choice of drinks .
An absolute gem!Probably the best kept beer in the south. My goodness!!Food is usually very good too.Go for the fish and chips! We found the locals are very friendly and a LOT of fun!Thank you all!!
Helpful staff(we had a large electric power chairthe Sunday lunch was excellent and several ales and ciders.
Excellent food. Definitely worth a visit
DJD for Julies Birthday Party yesterday,! Staff super helpful!
Very nice meal and atmosphere was lovely for our first visit for a meal will be back
First visit to this great pub. Clean, good atmosphere, great selection of beverages and friendly staff.
Great place, great atmosphere, great food, can highly recommend the garlic mushrooms
A very nice pub with friendly staff and good service.
Nice enthusiastic local pub with seating indoors and outdoors and a nice food menu with a lot to choose from. Bartenders could be a bit friendlier though
A good choice of beers, not just endless exotic foreign lager brands which are brewed in Northampton anyway. The Abbott ale I had was just right. The food was good pub grub, with some choices you dont often see these days like liver and bacon and steak and kidney pud, which I had. Really enjoyed it. Nice staff and not exorbitant prices. Looking forward to going back soon for a Pizza.
Great atmosphere, good beers. And the food, always good. Especially their Sunday roasts
I went for a meal here, and the staff were miserable and moody. Shame as the food is really nice
Traditional pub in the true English way. Dont tell anyone though wed like to keep it secret
Lovely friendly pub with great gin choices and lovely food.
Popped in for lunch, really friendly welcome. Nice clean tables and the beer was spot on. The bar staff were so friendly. What surprised me was just how much choice there was for food. My mother had cheesy chips with bacon bits, which were actually cut up freshly cooked bacon rashers. I had a panini with bacon, mozzarella and tomato. Again freshly cooked, the salad and coleslaw it came with was fresh and plentiful. This really is a gem of a pub. Cant recommend enough. Thank you!
Lovely local pub. Nice range of drinks and the food smelt great!
Great old traditional pub with good atmosphere and decent beers.
Friendliest pub in Worthing. Warm welcome to all customers. Nice open fire in the bar we were in. The pint of Harveys Best I had was excellent
Lovely traditional pub where locals meet, quite the community hub.
Lovely pub, great service and amazing food, first time visit but really impressed and will return.
Great pub, excellent service, happy to be able to support them again 😊
Great pub, weldone for coming out and serving beer and food so well in difficult times. While other pubs army bothering to open.
Nice outdoor space, service was spot on only downside personally was the lack of craft beer and IPA selection but thats personal choice. No issues at all
Lovely pub, oldskool. Could quite honestly sit there of an afternoon and end up there till closing, very cosy.
Good local pub, with friendly staff, good beer and great choice of pub grub.
Lovely oldy worldy traditional pub. Lovely atmosphere. Had my first legal pint in this pub when I turned 18 with my dad Eamonn, God rest his soul. My dad came to this pub for many many years, it was his favourite, I have fond memories of sitting out in the lovely beer garden with him and my brother in the summer. They serve lovely home cooked food. Lots of places to park and have a function room thats available for hire. I dont live in Worthing any more, but always pop in for a quick drink and some lunch when we visit. Ive been in a lot of pubs in my life, but this one is the only one Id actually class as a proper pub, it cant be beaten.
Staff friendly, food nice and not too expensive. They even have a best czech beer Staropramen. Toilets very clean. Highly recommend. Would definitely go again soon.
Fantastic place to eat and drink wonderful staff a real pub....
Clean and tidy. Lots of proper pub type ornaments. Good efficient staff. Reasonable car parking. Good food especially pensioners Sunday lunch.A proper English pub.
Enjoyable experience. Good choice of beers and wines. Food was good too and well priced. Cosy pub.

A really welcoming pub, with great staff and fantastic pub food. Get to know everyone and its one big happy family!
Fabulous ,traditional pub with friendly, helpful staff. Great menu and function room with bar that caters very well for parties and themed nights. Always something going on.
Lovely pub, great food & service. Plently of parking, very friendly & helpful staff. Brilliant range of good quality food & drinks.
Lovely little pub, really relaxing and nice outdoor area. Maybe they could add a vegan option to the menu as live near and would like to come regularly 😊
Lively local with real beer, good pub grub, some outside seating and a car park. There is a function room (with eccentric decorwhich hosts live acts.
Had a lovely meal with the family as allways the food & service was 5 star if you havent eaten at this pub you are missing a real treat great food & drinks at a sensible price get yourself down there you will not be disappointed.
We recently had a family members funeral, he was young and it was unexpected. The family have had so much to deal with along with their grief so when we heard we could have the wake at the John selden which was within close distance to most family members we thought, great, a local pub which no doubt he wouldve drank in at some point what with it being close to his home. On arrival we were instructed the staff werent ready and we had to order from the main bar rather than the private function room we had hired. The bar staff came in 45 minutes late and were incredibly rude even to our elder relatives and one heavily pregnant relative. They tried to bribe us with £50 to leave as apparently WE were rude! And now are trying to bribe us to remove our negative reviews so the public do not know how we were treated! Their behaviour was horrific to a grieving family and we left the wake after 2 hours even though we paid for 4 as we were so disgusted. In all honesty I think they should close their function room and not agree to hire it out as they clearly cannot handle private events and should not bite off more than they can chew! Safe to say all the guests and myself will never be returning to the John selden and we WILL be passing the information on for the public to see!
I always find this place "A local pub, for local people". I dont know if the old landlord is still there, but hes a miserable old bugger! The food isnt bad and the beers okay though.
Friendly staff, great food thats reasonably priced. Manager Steve is a delight. Function room highly recommended as is the spread they put on if you wish. Also happy for you to supply your own food. Great entertainment put on regularly too. Give it a try - i dont think youll be disappointed!I
Have never been here but everytime I go to my partners house just round the corner, Google thinks Im in the pub. So I thought if I write a review it might stop pinging everytime I come to see her.I dont know if the John Shelden has tasty food, a great range of beers or super friendly service, maybe try it for yourself and if it does let me know. Maybe one day Ill treat my other half to a pint of mild!
Great pub - my wife and I have had a meal there which was good value for money. My wife is fussy about her well done steak which was perfect without her sending it back! We go there at least once a month when our favourite local group is playing a gig there ..there is nothing better than sitting there listening to good music and munching away at the same time! It is a really lively evening..Dont be tempted by their cheesy chips as they are a bit addictive. They also have a good choice of beer!In summary I dont think any one would be disappointed.
I was disappointed by the end of my night at what I previously thought of as a very friendly and excellent pub. Their charge on card for any spend under £10 means anyone without cash must open a tab for an evenings drinking at the pub, which I was disappointed to find was wrongly added up at the end of the evening. Myself and a friend had bought the same amount of drinks, alternating rounds between us, but my tab was summed up to £5 more than his. The barmaid was disgruntled by my disagreement with the figures and so I paid, but decided to return after I left because I was sure that I had been overcharged. I was met with a hostile reception from the young barmaid, who went through the calculations aggressively once more without listening to my explanation of what I had bought and then stormed off from the part of the bar I was at, saying she wouldnt go through it again. I was appalled at this awful customer service from this barmaid, when earlier in the evening I had believed this pub to have excellent public service. I will not be visiting again.
We called at this pub on route to an appointment, never been there before, what anexperience !.Like going back in time, a REAL pub, interesting items all over the walls, loads of realatmosphere,a genuine greeting from bar staff and a feeling of being made welcome. It has been a long time since we have experienced such a lovely pub.I would recommend a visit to anyone and will.Sincerely.Gordon.P.Dix.
