John Bull Pub in Gyor

Nonfrendly personal, stake ordered was from expired meat with bad smell. But restoran workers trying to say that is normal. Not recommended at all.

Fast service, nice selection of beers. Food was very good and portions are reasonably big 😀 no complaints.

Very cozy place, pet friendly. Goulash soup was really tasty, 1890 huf. Recommend to try!

Unfortunately the service is not friendly, for each drink you have to ask twice and getting the bill also required quite some effort. The food looks good but the beef filet (!was very chewy. Not what I am expecting from a restaurant focused on steaks & burgers. Totally not worth the high price.EDIT after response: I am comparing to other places in Győr where I can get way better food for this price. Italy is irrelevant in this discussion. And the "steak" were filet stripes with no option of cooking given to me.

Great food, acceptable price, quick service

Couldnt fault the service and atmosphere of this pub/restaurant. Had a delicious steak and a couple of bottles of wine. Nice night all round.

Cozy place, interesting decor, they had a few board games. I got the shrimp spaghetti and it was quite delicious.

interior is what you await from a pub. food was mediocre for the prices. steaks were dryish and gulash watery. one thing what was not okay that they charged 10% tip without asking. guess they make it only with tourists like us.

This was my first time (and actuallyspontaniousin any of the John Bulls. The service and the quality of the food was way beyond our expectations. Had 2 soups from Chef’s choice, both were much larger than expected, so we could only have a starter instead of main food for second. Everything was perfect, great value for money, cannot wait to return and try something else.

After reading mixed reviews about this place we decided to go anyway and simply avoid certain items off the menu to avoid disappointment. The weather was wet so we liked the thought of a covered terrace, and some outside heaters. We only received half (!?!of the menu to choose from, but we chose anyway. Food arrived but after waiting ages to complain about stone cold fries with my 400g burger. After no service staff came outside in at least 5 minutes I ended up walking them inside and asking for some fresh ones before my burger got cold too. When the new fries finally arrived there was no apology at all for the wait, but the fries were at least hot. Next was the burger. 2 big meat patties so size was fine but they were soooooo overcooked and dry. Very disappointing. Coleslaw was an okay side dish though to help moisten things up. In short I expected more from my 3,390 Ft burger. I mentioned the dry patties to the waiter when asking for the bill and he said hed see what he could do. Nothing, obviously. 10% service was of course added to the bill. All in all a disappointing experience. Service times and attentiveness were also sadly lacking. Would not recommend as there seems to be much better and nicer options in Győr.

It is cosy nice restaurant. Huge portions with pricey tags.

The resterant was nice and the stakes were really awsome.

I asked for a medium done double angus steak which was said to be 400 grams, what I got was two thin slices of totally dry and overdone, tough and chewy beef, full of indestructible sinews and chunks of fat, maybe not even 200 grams altogether. I managed to have my worst lunch of the year.They should find or train a chef who can make steaks. Total disappointment.

Unfortunately the steak was terrible today. Most of us asked medium, but it was below rare. We cannot even eat it. Big disappoinment.

Great pub! They have a variety of very tasty dishes on the menu, the stuff at the bar is friendly and the prices are good.

As a half hungarian going back every year, this place is a true classic! Great british style setting, really good food - what else!?

Traditional English Pub, beautiful Hungarian waitresses

The chicken was overcooked, staff member was not receptive when speaking to him about it.

We came for a family dinner for a steak which the pub was kind of looks like a british pub. We went for a 3 medium and 2 well done steak and we get 1 rare, 2 medium, 1 medium well and 1 over went well done.Overall the food was tasty and delicious but after the main course the waiter give to us the dessert menu for the dessert or coffe but he forget to come back to us to take the order for 30 mins.

Food is ok! Overpriced, and you need to make reservation. We came, just one tables was taken, but they said they full. Finally they find us table, but we had limited time.

Appeared to be lots of free tables, but the waiter told us that there were no tables free 🤥

Calm and cozy pub. Cant speak for their meals, as I only had a Guinness.

I’d give this place a 0 if I was able too. We are here on vacation and read some amazing reviews, so we planned on coming all week. We walk in and they tell us they are full. We can clearly see that there are open tables. So I say, can we wait for an “open” table? And she says no. RACISM AT YOUR FINEST. This town is full of racist people who can’t seem to get over themselves and open up their minds.

Nice place to have some steak and beer with friends. Wide selection of steaks including Audi A2, A4, A6 ones that reminds guests they are in the city where a big Audi plant is located.

The food is no.1 but the staff is terrible,unfriendly and slow :/ after 10 mins of waiting (nobody else was therethe waiter asked me what i want (without bringing me the food card)

Super tasty steaks. Nice atmosphere. It was a pleasure.

If you need a break on the road to Austria, it worths extra 5 km to taste a gorgeous cooked duck or some pork..or veal...And don.t forget to explore Gyor city center after the meal..is good for health, eyes and soul!

Food was awesome and staff was really friendly

The place is nice and cosy. Waiters are friendly and service fast. You can pay with card, but my burger was overcooked and prices are extremely high.

Of the two dishes one was delicious (steakthe other was rubber (sirloin). Service was very Hungarian.

The place looks great and cozy, but the food is pretty mediocre and is very overpriced for the quality.

Nice place to have a beer, you can smoke in the garden, pretty nice and relaxing, the restaurant seems legit.

Good food, nice atmosphere, reasonable prices.

Chicken with vegetables was great. 5 stars
