Jin Feng Braised Pork Rice - Taiwanese restaurant in Taipei, Taiwan
The braised pork rice was very tasty. Enjoyed the soup too. The turnover was fast. Despite the long queue, we only waited for about 10 minutes.
Went to this place right before dinner time. There are some empty tables, so we can be seated immediately. Menu is quite straightforward with braised pork rice with size of your choice, an array of soup, other mains and sides. They also provide an English translation of the menu. After jotting down my order, a server arrive to take our order. Less than 5 minutes, the food arrived.Overall taste, the braised pork rice is quite flavorful, but might not be the best braised pork for me personally. The soup is also refreshing and tasty.Great service and delicious cheap food. Definitely will come back here if I happen to be walking around the area.
Food is just ok and not too pricey! Cleanliness of dining area needs to be improved a lot!I may come back again if I really don’t know what to eat.
Seen many bloggers and vloggers alike list this place as the best braised pork over rice in Taipei. Lunch hours can get pretty busy whether dining in for take out. Dishes are decent and served promptly.
Had the famous 滷肉飯. This was one of the best Ive had so far in Taiwan. The chicken / clam soup was very rich and tasty. Every dish was good. Price is not bad either. 190NTD for everything in the picture. Recommended if you want to try the famous braised pork over rice.
Luckily find empty seats to eat inside. One of good taste braised pork rice in Taipei city.
Cheap, value for money, good. 105 NT for the below. Braised egg was super tough though but service was extremely fasst and efficient. On the other hand having been here twice now I dont see how this place is drastically different or better than other braised pork rice places either. However still good value and will come back.
Cheap local snacks at affordable pricesThere will be queues during holidaysIf you don’t like to eat in a hurry, it is recommended to come on weekdays
Long queue, but short waiting time. It is quite an oily dish but I love how the rice and pork is so flavourful and fragrant. Would be back again.
Maybe I was just hungry, but it lived up to the hype, for a (reasonably given the linequick, greasy, satisfying meal. My only tip is get the larger size, and if youre there on your own, enjoy the table-mate roulette.
Fatty style 滷肉飯, served with some nice pickles. Good to enjoy with some side dishes and soup. The soup came in tiny bowl, but quite rich. The flavor of bitter gourd pineapple chicken soup was more on the bitter side.
Slightly above average 滷肉飯. A safe bet to try if youve never eaten it before. Very representative of traditional Taiwanese food, but this shop can be on the saltier side, and I prefer more meat. At least its not all skin and fat like some cheap places offer. That said, there are definitely more interesting luroufan in town. They also have a newer bigger shop in Ximen if you want something that feels a little cleaner and more covered from the weather.
One of the best braised pork rice in Taiwan. Definitely must-try! Braised pork rice come in two different sizes, go for the smaller bowl and order other side dishes like the seasonal vegetables, braised egg and the assortment of soups. Be prepared for some queues during peak dining hours.
My second time visiting this shop and it still tastes same as the first time i had it 5 years ago! Definitely the best braised pork rice in Taipei! Came around 2pm and there were no queue at all. Fast service too! Must have is braised pork rice and the oil based tofu!
A must visit for their Braised pork belly bowl, lines can be crazy long so make sure you go early or after lunch time ... In saying that they open until 1am so you can go anytime from 8am-1am.You can ask for the picture menu and the ladies are nice with basic English so just point to the items/dishes you want.Braised pork belly rice bowl comes in 3 sizes, go with medium if you want to try other things. All pork belly bowls comes with stir fried greens and MAKE sure you order the egg!! Its a MUST!#JINFENGBRAISEDPORKRICE#金峰魯肉飯 #TAIPEI#ASIANFOODNINJA @ASIANFOODNINJA
Very tasty but gives too little lu rou on the riceI finished all the meat in five bites. You need to buy extra meat and eggs.
The 鲁肉饭 at this place is so delicious. The meat is so soft it literally melts in your mouth. I always come back for it whenever I am in Taiwan. The queue gets longer the later you come so be sure to come early. It helps if you come in pair as its easier to get seats (if you dont mind sharing with others who came solo).
Tastiest braised pork rice! Quick value for money cheap eat. Love the food, soup, veges and service. English menu in my added photos.
Jin Feng Braised Pork Rice is definitely one of the most famous/popular Taiwanese braised pork rice places in Taipei. The price is pretty awesome too. You can have a bowl of the signature braised pork rice, a few plates of side dishes (eggs, vegetables, etc.), and a bowl of warm soup with (NT$200or less. Amazing rice, pork was soft and savory. We love the Bittermelon Chicken Soup and Pork Soup (It included a thickened soup, big chunks of pork ribs, and some shitake mushrooms in the recipe, which were all really flavorful.)
Amazing food! Had to queue 20 mins at noon time on a Sunday but was really worth the wait. The queue never subsided.
I’m Taiwanese and live in Taipei.Personally, braised pork rice(滷肉飯)here is not good at all. The flavor and taste is plain. Tofu (in the pictureis insipid as well. So disappointing..:(Staff and environment not bad but nothing special. Same as other local store.Don’t need to eat there. Definitely have better place to eat! :)
This restaurant is very famous local restaurant and has been in existence for a long time. The queue is always long but waiting time is not that bad as turn over time is quite far. This restaurant is not one where you sit down and slowly enjoy your meal to past time. The restaurant is designed for localswhere you sit down eat, enjoy your meal and then leave the place. The environment is not a cosy one. The staff also behaved in a very hurried manner but polite. They appear to be very busy running around taking orders, serve food, remove empty dishes after you finished them and clearing it quickly for the next customer. It is just culture typical of many Chinese local restaurants. The food tastes good but I reckon the servings are smaller than what I had expected.I have included photos of the food I ordered of which the last one is not for the faint hearted. I will not name it or but you can see if you can identify what it is. Best of luck in identify it! 😉
I read the negative comments but actually find this place clean and services efficient. Prices are reasonable too, given their fame and portion size. Two things really stand out, the foods are flavorful and piping hot. What more do you need? Great if youre dining solo too, as you sometimes get to jump the queue. Love to come back and try other items on the menu.
It lived up to expectations. Be prepared to wait in line for a long time if your group is bigger. There is always a queue, they are very popular. The food comes quickly as they are very well staffed and the kitchen moves like a very efficient factory line. Try the side dishes such as bamboo shoots and the braised meat. Thumbs up!
The wait is not bad at all. The rice bowls are normal sized bowls so don’t expect to spend more than 15mins eating here. The service is quick and the menu is simple.Braised pork is braised pork wherever you get it and prepared by whoever prepares it. Nothing special but still a solid and cheap meal if you’re in the area.I came here twice. The first I got the actual piece of pork belly. The second was to try the shredded pork as more popularly advertised. Honestly, get both. The serving size is small so order the shredded and get another piece on the side. Get the egg too.
The braised pork is tasty and slightly salty. It’s rice is slightly dry and a little more gravy will make the entire meal more satisfactory. Service is super fast!
Tried out this place because I saw a recommendation on some blog. We went during dinner time and although the queue was pretty long, the turnover rate was quite fast and we were able to get in in less than 10 mins. Tried the lu rou fan and pig stomach soup. The rice was hot and really tasty. The soup was equally nice and the pig stomach was clean. Service staff were friendly. One thing to note when ordering. Fill up the form on your table and pass it to one of their staff. You only need to queue to pay after your meal. Mentioning this because we accidentally did the reverse. Would recommend eating at the place instead of taking it away to avoid the food turning cold.
Jin Feng Braised Pork Rice is definitely one of the most famous/popular Taiwanese braised pork rice places in the whole Taipei (or even in the whole Taiwan). The place is always packed and is having diners queuing outside every time I come or pass by. Though the queue is long, the waiting time is less than it looks like because their tables turn over pretty fast.Undoubtedly, braised pork rice is a must-try. I am not a pro at it but my friends are and they love this place so much. The price is pretty fair too. You can have a bowl of the signature braised pork rice, a few plates of side dishes (braised pork, braised oil tofu, vegetables, etc.), and a bowl of warm soup with 2 red banknotes (NT$200or less. But do not expect too much on the dining environment. This place has been opened for decades and they have not had any renovation ever since, so you can imagine it is not that kind of cozy, comfortable eating place that you can spend time with family or friends. Besides, this place is extremely popular so it is expected to share tables with other diners.Anyway, food is always the most important thing and it is a good place to try typical Taiwanese style braised pork rice.
Pretty good signature braised pork rice. Also liked the soup made with pineapple, bitter gourd and chicken. Both tasted fantastic and were worth every penny. Didn’t quite enjoy the tofu though. Seatings were reasonably spaced with decent air conditioning. An enjoyable quick breakfast experience. Super easy to find if came by metro/subway.
A legend in its own right. Great braised pork rice, soups and pig of various in various forms of deliciousness. The braised pork rice is on the fatty side, but who likes a bowl of lean lu rou fan?The clear, boiled soups are delicious, light and tasty and not too strong. The ambience and environment is that of a no-frills, traditional Taiwanese eatery; not a particularly comfortable place, but then again you dont go to Jin Feng for a fine dining experience.
The best meal you can get for NT$30! Super savory, satisfying and makes me happy. The line can move fast so dont worry about that! The order form is only in chinese, but theres an English menu where you can match up the English word to the Chinese word.Be ready to sit with strangers because they want every seat in use. When youre done, bring your check to the counter and pay.
Arrived during a weekday at noon and there was a line up but it moved fairly quickly. We were seated with another couple at the table. We ordered their two most famous braised beef dish. Portion was good, price was good. The minced beef option was a little underwhelming for me, as I felt the bamboo shoots overpowered everything. Overall good experience.
Often touted as the best ru rou fan aka braised pork rice in Taipei. The rice is flavourful and soak in the perfect combination of pork fat and soya sauce with hint of mushroom. You can’t help but finish the bowl of rice. I tied the bee Hoon as well which is super fine and can soak up the flavour really well. The also sell hot soup which go well with the bowl of fragrant rice. Highly recommended. Do note there is que but it does move fast.
It was quite good - we ordered the braised pork rice, some marinated eggs and this dry vermicelli noodle dish. Maybe we’re used to American portions but I reckon i could have polished 2 “large” bowls of the pork rice 😂😂😂😂😂 definitely order up - everything is so cheap
The rice and side dishes are excellent here. Touristy but still keeping up their standard of food. Though there’s usually a wait for a table, it’s pretty organised and the staff are efficiency and friendly.
This definitely deserves all the hype that it gets! Amazing braised pork rice at an astonishingly low price. This truly is the traditional dish executed perfectly well. We also got the rice with a whole piece of pork belly, which is my favorite! Highly recommend getting the vegetables, tofu, braised duck eggs, and ginseng soup to complete a completely satisfying meal. The whole meal was only ~$8 USD for 2 people!!
Really good mince pork on rice. Very traditional and simple yet very delicious. Also need to try their soups and the veggies, they are both very nice and compliment the main dish really well. You absolutely shouldnt missed this one if you go to Taiwan.
Jin Feng is always full! Easy to spot because there is people lining up all day to eat their braised pork. Food is very tasty, special mention to their braised pork on moistured rice, delicious. Veggies and thick pork soup were also very flavorful. Staff its a bit rude and it could happen that u share your table with random people due to the lack of space.
The line moves fairly quickly. They have a pretty good system going, you wont wait long. This isnt fancy food, its a quick bite for people craving braised pork but too lazy to cook themselves.
My first ever visits to Taiwan! I guess I should mention braised pork rice as the national dish of Taiwan. Thick sweet tender bite of pork tasted delish, available in small and medium serving bowl. I ordered bamboo shoots, morning glory and extra egg and tofu, plus soup with meatballs that tasted sooo geeewd. Apart from the pork, it was less salty to my taste, or better said tend to be mild flavor.I went here for lunch, about 12. There were queue for about 30 minutes before I got a seat, and another 10 minutes to get dishes served.
When I get our from the train station, I saw the eatery, it is very obvious. I was attracted to one of the dish it serve which I had yet to found it this time round in Taipei, that is 鼎边锉. I order it with two other dishes. It surprise me too was the fried grass noodle 炒冬粉, it was really good. Ordered a plate of vegetable, it was very fresh. This stall is just next to ZhongZheng Memorial Station 中正纪念堂, easy to find. Do come by if you want to try local dishes. The place is clean and comfortable to dine in. The waiters were nice and polite.
This is a very famous "鲁肉饭“ with a very traditional "竹笋". I find the 竹笋 is a bit out of my tasting domain. There is always a long queue, but the waiting time usually is short. Service was fast and good.
Its good and located at a easy-to-find corner at the main street. A very local Taiwanese cuisine restaurant, the rice with mince pork is not the best I have had but the rice itself is good!! The clam soup is good while the braised pork is super fat lol haha
Quite popular with locals and tourists. Small place but the wait time isnt too bad if you come during the non peak period. Close to the CKS Memorial station. The braised tofu is way too salty for my personal taste. Otherwise its a decent place to have a light meal after visiting the area
I can’t help but the filthy-mouthed young man behind the stove turns himself a major irritation at this crowded food stand. Try their acclaimed braised pork on rice. And that’s pretty much of it. Although some argue that you can always find more tender ground pork over rice somewhere else but they might have not yet built the fame as this stand have. Welcome to the hype.
All dishes were excellent, but you cant go wrong with their signature braised pork on rice. Likely to be queues, but worth going for the exquisitely rendered fatty pork. For visitors, If you have visited the CKS memorial, its just a short walk away.
Homely restaurant that has snaking queue during lunch time. We reach at about 11.30am and the wait was about 20min. Small place but very packed. They were very service oriented. Overheard one of the staff urging her co-worker to quicken her pace as a group of customer waited for a while in the queue.
Delicious braised meat rice and great variety of soups. Went at around 10am and was seated pretty quickly. Ordered the small bowl and the clams with chicken soup, braised tofu and egg. The large bowl is simply more rice so order the small one so that you get a nice proportion of lu rou and rice each. The clams with chicken soup was very sweet and fresh, chicken wing was tender and complemented the rice well.
Delicious restaurant famed for its 魯肉飯 (braised pork over rice). This is a busy little place that doesnt look like much but is extremely popular with locals and visitors alike. Expect a wait of between 10 to 30 minutes depending in the size of your group. The dishes here are excellent. Braised pork over rice of course, but also the soups and vegetables are great, as well as the tofu. You can feast with a friend until youre full for about 225ntd - so the prices are incredibly reasonable.100% recommend!
Too little braised pork in the rice, resulting in poor balance. The braised pork should be good, but the portion was too little to make judgement. Price is cheap. Small bowl with egg and bean curd cost 55NT. The braised eggs are duck eggs not chicken.
