Spacious Sichuan restaurant serving a broad menu of fiery classics in a casual dining room.
Excellent Sichuan style restaurant especially love the signature cuisine, chicken soup, which is quite popular to gourmet who love drinking soup. This time we ordered 13,000 set menu for 10 people, and there was great in cost-performance :we quite enjoyed the dinner meeting, and definitely will re-visit!! Extremely recommend !!
Best chicken soup (besides my moms)
Chicken soup was delightful and I especially enjoyed the beef and Fish dishes......
Delicious
The soup is really nice.BUT! The service is extremely awful. The waitress wont care about how you feel and show no patience.BTW~ To all foreign customers, you can enjoy almost all of dishes in the menu with much reasonable prices in other restaurants as well as chicken soup. So, if you can endure the "unexpected" dinning experience, this is not a bad choice.
Chicken Soup is very delicious.
waitresses are not professional when i ask any recommended dishes, they just said everything. but when I ordered a fried rice they will say order the small one when ur friend come later you can order another one again
Both the food and service at Ji Yuan Szechuan Restaurant were great. After a few bowls of their famous chicken soup, youll feel like youre up for a marathon! The first round of soup is very thick as it has been cooked for hours and hours. Then they take the soup away and add tons of cabbage and tofu, so the second round of soup is thinner but still tasty. The other dishes that we had were also quite nice.
I had the best sleep of my life after a couple bowls of this famous milky chicken broth soup. Intensely rich from ten hours of stewing chicken, pork bones, and meat, and served still boiling from the hot clay pot.Not only do they serve boiling hot chicken broth, but their side dishes also fill up the stomach and warm the soul. We ordered bubbling hot pork blood with intestines, fried taro cake, stir-fried eggplant, and a couple other dishes that we devoured before I could take a picture.I love the family style eating, traditional decor like the gold tableclothes, and even the nostalgic red menus. Felt like I was eating at my family’s old restaurant growing up.
My favourite chicken soup place! The reservation line is slightly kurt so you might feel alittle offended but please give them a chance! the service there is sweet and the some of the servers there have been working there for a decade!
The best chicken soup in town!! Cozy environment and nice waitress here! Most important all dishes were so yummmm👍👍👍
Food is great! The soup is a tad too thick for me, prefer to thin it out with a bit of water. But definitely a great experience to see chicken soup so golden and shiny it almost blinds you.I also love the mapo tofu here, the Sichuan pepper seasoning is perfect. Not too spicy, and not too bland. All the other dishes are good too, definitely worth a try!I especially appreciate that they let you carry the chicken soup back in the clay pot(which you can return at a later dateso that your soup doesn’t lose that authentic flavor even at home.
The best 雞湯 in the world~~~
I just love it’s chicken soup!! So so good!! And the food comes quick with a good quality! I will come again for the soup for share! Good for gathering event with more people so you can order more delicious food together to try it! If you can’t finish the soup, you can pay deposit of 300NT to bring the leftover soup with a completed covered metal pot to bring it home! Really nice service.
Nothing’s more heard-warming than the hot chicken soup in winter times. Super delicious chicken soup with crunchy bamboo.
Great chicken soup. Very thick and delicious
Great food and good service. The chicken soup never disappoints. It’s an excellent option for family, friends and foreign visitors!
Best chicken soup. Also outstanding is the green beans and the smoked fish. The chicken soup is huge, so you really need a big group. Not a very big place, so I recommend reservations.
Although the name says its a Szechuan restaurant there really aren’t very many Szechuan dishes on the menu. The restaurant is really known for its chicken soup. It is a pricy 2500 NTD but its huge serving of soup. The other dishes we had were also very good. Good place to go for a solid meal. Better for a large group because the soup can easily serve 10 people.Food: 4 starsService/Environment: 3.5 starsOverall: 3.75 starsRecommendations: Chicken soupThe chicken soup is what most people come here for. It is double boiled and is cooked with a whole chicken and pork trotters. There is a lot of developed flavor here and is not a light chicken stock. The shredded pork and scallion dish was also something I enjoyed quite a bit and it pairs really well with bing.
[ Rich chicken stock ]Highly recommend for foreign tourists to come. It’s a restaurant you can have decent Chinese dishes and also nutritious chicken stock. Reasonable price for its time consuming making process. Perfect for cold wintertime to warm up body by a rich protein chicken soup!
Honestly, I was skeptical when approaching the entrance, we went in for early lunch and the people at the front were staring at us like they wished we weren’t going to come in (reminded me of restaurants in China). With the courage of tigers we went in and at first the service was mediocre but then it progressively got better and better. Which was excellent because the food is utterly amazing. Seriously, the ceramic pot soups are expensive but damn it’s good. 5 stars for just how good the food is. Ambiance could be better.
Certainly the best place for intense chicken soup in Taipei!! The flavour is sosososo amazing and unforgettable, perfect for a bunch of friends or family to enjoy together, would recommend it to the group that is more than 6 people. Due to the big portion they serve, if you are a smaller party, do visit their second shop- 雞窩.
Just for the chicken soup alone is a definate 5 star. The other dishes arent bad, not really authentic sichuan but still taste good.Chicken soup size is big so preferably need to go in a group, first serving is just chicken and soup, which can be refilled a second time where they will put in cabbage and tofu.If I had to really knit pick, guess the pricing is slightly high, and the the staff do rush your meal a little as they try to close by 9pm. But based on food alone, its worth 5 stars.
Though I wasnt feeling well that day, but the famous chicken soup here was awesome. Rich flavour and not so greasy. It was so good that I forgot to take a picture before its almost empty lol
Good chicken soup. Good stir fry food as well. Service is super fast. We ordered 7 dishes and hot all them in 15 minutes.
Excellent chicken soup, together with many tasty dishes. Tried many dishes and happy with all. Better go with many friends to order and try different dishes.
Excellent chicken soupTransitional Chinese mealsPrice a little bit high but it is reasonable C/P value
Delicious restaurant in Duanhua South road.
Restaurant specialize in soup. All other dishes taste good
Great Sichuan style restaurant with authentic flavor. Chicken soup is superb and a must-order dish. Suitable for group more than 4, otherwise you may have to order less dishes.
Chicken soup is excellent as everyone says. Get an order of noodles to go along with it. The rest of the dishes are good but unremarkable.
Best chicken soup in Taipei. Hearty and Rich. Awesome.
Food are good, however you have to expect here is a bit expensive and, staffs here are not that friendly too.
One of the best chicken soups you can get. I came here with a big party, I dont recommend smaller groups of less than 5.The portions are huge, the beef was great, so was the dessert of dates. The chinese pancake was great, and so was the vegetables cooked well. All in all, an excellent meal to bring your buddies from abroad!
They have the best chicken soup I’ve ever had. Ma Po tofu is awesome and they add black pepper into the dish that makes it very special and tasty. Most dishes are good but it’s a bit pricy.
Very yummy food. Altho didnt try the famous chicken soup.Must try is the thick spring onion cake. So aromatic and tasty. Then is the 豆酥雪魚 . Looks like a pile of fried garlic but it isnt and taste so good.
Tourist trap but one with excellent chicken soup. The rest of the menu is undistinguished in either taste (mediocre at bestor variety (standard Taiwanese fare). Be aware that the 川 doesn’t seem to signify much in the way of 四川菜.
Chicken soup delicious for those who love heavy taste, you can re-full soup if you want drink more. Suggest more than 4 people to eat, price is little high. However, still a good restaurant, recommend.
First option for local Taiwanese, it takes them more than 10 hours to make that chicken soup, it costs more than 2500NT and above but you wont forget the taste. Highly recommended!
Well known chicken soup restaurant, pretty much every table ordered one. The initial chicken soup pot had really thick soup, like the thick ramen soup, very tasty, salty, gamey, a bit too much. After half of the soup had been consumed, they added Chinese cabbage and cooked it again. It then became a lighter soup base with very flavorful Chinese cabbage which we all liked, still somewhat gamey, though. The other dishes were pretty good!
The pot of chicken soup is huge. Make sure you dont order too much when you order with the soup.
Fantastic food, service and venue. This place just nails it. Perhaps one of the top dining experiences one can have in Taipei. The chicken soup is killer. Its a one size only dish, Huge! Even if youre just a solo diner get it anyway. Theyll make you a doggie bag. The chive pancakes are just delightful. Get those too. Just go eat here.
The thick boiled chicken soup here is very good, albeit perhaps a bit jarring for some with its intensity. Theres also a nice selection of Sichuan styled dishes.
Very expensive, one full table with 7 or 8 dishes including the famous chicken soup takes about $8900. But its delicious. I will say their chicken soup and Kon boa chicken are the must try, others are fine. Ive tasted better and not as expensive as them.
Finally tried their famous chicken soup, which was by far the best Ive ever had! It was cooked with pork knuckles braised ahead probably with brine making the soup rich with collagen and salted just right. You can order thin noodle and halfway through the meal order extra cabbage and tofu to make the soup even more flavourful.
I LOVE their chicken soup!! Best ever!! I think I can finish the whole order by myself! Usually one order served about 10-12, after everyone had a small bowl of soup, they will add veggies. I love it so much that they had to stop me from drinking all of the soup! HAHA!
Excellent spicy / Sichuan style food. Most dishes are very small, great for ordering a lot of dishes to try, but the total cost adds up quickly. It also features "chicken soup" - a giant pot per table. Ours was excellent, but I dont understand the Sichuan connection.
If you like very thick heavy salty soup, this is the place for you. The chicken soup is famous. If you like a thinner but still tasty chicken soup, go for their newer store called G-Woo at Anhe Road.
Very good rich chicken soup with many complex flavors going on. Service was very nice. Ambiance is very old school. Pretty pricy but nice for larger gatherings.
Best chicken soup in the world!! Perfect venue for any kind of occasions. ( from business meals to family gathering)The original chicken soup ( cheapest on the menu, around $70 USD is my all time favorite . Dont forget to ask them to refill with cabbage and tofu as 2nd round .Id also recommend : deep fried green beans with pork (乾煸四季豆) with green onion pancakes (薄餅)
