King David St 26, Jerusalem, Israel, Jerusalem
In a stone building with a landmark bell tower, this laid-back hotel was built in 1933 and lies within the Young Men's Christian Association complex. It's 1 km from Church of the Holy Sepulchre, supposed site of the tomb of Jesus, and 6 km from Highway 1.Casual rooms all feature free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and minifridges, as well as tea and coffeemakers, and views of the city. Suites add sitting areas.Breakfast and parking are complimentary. Other amenities include an informal restaurant with ornate French doors and a terrace. There's also an indoor pool, a gym and exercise classes.
30 USD for swimming?... thats just another way israel tells visitors to stay outside there country.... "Jerusalem international YMCA" ridiculus ... 30 USD!!!!
PRAY FOR THE BLIND SQUIRREL. I BELIEVE IT WAS ABANDONED BY ITS PARENTS. THANKS PRAYER WARRIORS. TO GOD BE THE GLORY.
I stayed with my month old toddler in this hotel for a couple of days in March 2022. The structure and the building are very impressive. Unfortunately I did experience a lack of customer service. There seems to be very little communication between the management and the people who work there. in my room we had a huge gap in the door so the air conditioning/ heating would constantly go on and off because of the cold air coming into the room. My baby got sick. The service stuff tried its best but there was not even an apology from people at the reception. generally I would advise you not to book this hotel if you travel with baby stroller, if you have walking disabilities or need it wheel chair. The elevators are tiny and in order to enter the hotel you have to climb up at least 10 steps of stairs outside of the building. They do have a security guard placed inside that could easily come out and help people with stroller or walking disabilities. But apparently you have to call the reception by phone to send someone outside. My overall experience is that this hotel has so much potential and I would wish that the YMCA would invest in the training of the management and people who work there.
A sane and magical place in the heart of the Middle East. 100% of beautiful Jerusalem. A must visit place
Very nice hotel. We had a great time. Breakfast is very good. The rooms are basic, but we did not need anything else.Great view from the tower
We did not stay in the hotel, but we did take the 20 NIS ($7YMCA tower self tour. A quick elevator ride and you get to see a commanding view of the old city from the east, and the new city to the, well, every other direction. Once finished viewing the scenery, take the stairs down to the grand bell-piano.
Great hotel in a historic beautiful buildingGood rates, great service , excellent central location within walking distance from the old city, the market, city centre and all major sites. fantastic view, great gym and pool included and free parking.
We came from Tel Aviv for wedding photoshoot because I loved this place when visited it, but they asked us to pay 250₪ (about 75$for approve to make wedding photos in the area (not insideI was very disappointed, we paid but I will never return to this place
I can‘t say anything about the rooms / hotel, but go up the tower (elevatorwhen you are around - beautiful view of the Old City from up there.
Beautiful building with 360 view observatory. After paying 15 NIS fee at the reception desk, a security guard will enable taking the elevator to the roof using a special key. You can then proceed to take the elevator to the roof and enjoy a spectacular 360 view of Jerusalem. Well worth it. A must see.
Sabreen at the desk was great and very helpful with us. We had a little problem with a noisy room which were next child garden but she did all the best for us. Thks you make it 5 stars
Very beautiful building. You can go up the tower to get 360 degrees views of the city from above for 15 NIS for person
Still providing accommodation but not exactly an affordable youth hostel, now a hotel. Gym and swimming pool. Good place to stay or visit to get a feel of how things changed in Jerusalem over time. Elaborate Christmas decorations most of December and through Hanukkah celebrations.
A place full of rich history. Excellent location. With the access to a first class gym. Definitely should visit.
Polite and wonderful staff, this place needs a major renovation of the existing rooms. Understand from staff that a floor will be opening up late next month from renovation. Good location though about a 10 min walk to the Jaffa gate of the old city.
Enjoyed lunch with friends. The lobby was spectacularly dressed for Christmas and this created a special ambience. Friendly and professional service.
We went there in christmas season. The huge tree in the entrance was really sweet. Its a nice foreign atmosphere for locals like us, who usually dont feel much of year ending feeling at this season.
Nice place . It,a a real pleasure to visit, close to Jaffa gate in Jerusalem Concert hall and a gorgeous lobby. The Jerusalem International YMCA, with its elegant arches, domes and 152-foot observation tower, is a city landmark acknowledged as a center of cultural, athletic, social and intellectual life in Jerusalem fostering harmony and building the spirit, mind and body.Founded in 1878 in a bookstore near the Jaffa Gate, it moved from one location to another until the organization purchased a small building near the Damascus Gate in 1909. Its first president was George Williams, who had founded the first YMCA in 1844 in London.
This is a very nice gym, but RIDICULOUSLY expensive. Everything here is good, but not great. The basketball gym is good, but the floor could be better. The weightlifting gym is also good, but doesnt have an excess of machines or benches. All in all, everything here is just good, which is not what you would want if you were paying 300 shekel a month for a gym. You could get something better in America for 30$ a month, but, since youre in Israel, if you really want a gym or basketball court or pool, you may have to pay the exorbitant price for it.
Gorgeous building in a great location to the Old City. Beds are old, carpets are worn and stained. The bathtub and sink does not have a stopper. Grout is stained. That said, water is hot. Old electric coffee pot in the room, which we will not use. Believe I smell something like bug spray.Food is expensive, but glad they have convenient in hotel dining available. Very small and slow elevator. Offered pool facilities and exercise which we did not use. Minimal taxi parking.Comfort level is low, but plenty of room and seating. There are two nice sized windows in our room. The air conditioning system is loud.Would likely not stay here again primarily because of dirty floors, old beds and minimally acceptable bathrooms. It may be a viable alternative for others, as I am accustomed to 5 Star Hotels.
Very wornout Rooms. Jokes like no toilet brush and defective flush. Dirty dishes and gross Breakfast. Room not made up/no new towels. Horrible and unkind Service.
Very good acoustics at the concert hall. A very beautiful and well preserved historical building. I did not stay in the hotel as a guest, but went there to see some music concerts and, recently, to play there as a performer. The stage is big and convenient, and so is the backstage area. I highly recommend visiting the venue and watching a music concert as this is one of the most beautiful and best sounding venues in Israel.
Easy to find. Simple to check in. Room was nice and clean. Beds were comfy. They even have us all a glass of orange juice and left fresh fruit and water in our room as a welcome gift. Receptionist was kind and professional.
We had our breakfast there it was very exciting great selection and variety of food. Staff were great friends of ours stayed overnight for 2 weeks and love it.
To be very clear - This review is just for the Cafe. Beautiful historic building with an amazing view and atmosphere, serving the freshest mint tea in Jerusalem! Being a YMCA, we naturally met with young traveller from all over the world in this place. If you are into history and well-preserved old buildings, this is definitely a good spot to meet and gather with your fellow travellers.
The new gym is really modern with amazing machines and a huge swimming pool ! Also you can find a great indoor basketball court and spacious studio where you can enjoy the classes.I highly recommend this place !
Brilliant 360 view of the city. This historic building is a great place to visit. Going to the top of the tower will cost money but it worth it. There is a nice patch of grass in the front of the building. Christmas decorations on this building are the bomb
Though it has been a few years, I remember the swimming pool being lined with beautiful mosaic tiles. The location is great. Walk around the old city of Jerusalem. Across from the King David Hotel.
YMCA youre thinking. Actually a wonderful find and better than most 4 star hotels. Take the elevator to the top of the tower for a great photo op. and a shout out to Fadi for making the visit extra special.
Great hotel, kind staff, great facilities on site and you can find plenty of parking spaces near by. Located 7-10 min walk from the magical Mamila mall and about 10 min drive or 40 min walk to the Western wall.
Great staff. However, the weight room area is poorly built. The entire floor is a safety concern due to collapsed floor tiles scattered throughout creating a tripping hazard. It appears the entire platform is a series of honeycombed floor frames with floating stone tiles set above - categorically not a weight-bearing design. Mere months after opening, it’s already nearing being unusable.
Hotel just next to the old city (that is great). But old rooms, not that clean, and breakfast fine (not exceptional). Elevator too small for the hotel : lot of time to get to your room. The swimming pool is not inside the hotel, but in a gym club under the hotel. It is an inside pool to swim, not to have fun with your family and children. At the end, this hotel is very expensive for what it is.
Nice building. Has gum and swimming pool. Make sure to visit the bells tower. Near the Jewish New Year they have public playing of music using these bells in the evening. They project the musician playing the Bells on the wall of the building. Arrive early to get a good viewing spot. It is amazing. A must see and hear :-)
I went there with two friends for coffee and dessert. The cakes were delicious. The service was warm and welcoming. It was a pleasure to spend time in this beautiful building. It is a true Jerusalem gem and landmark.
The rooms are fine, great location. The food is very basic, dinner was very bland but breakfast has a much better choice of local and international choices. The staff were lovely.
A nice hotel in a beautiful building with an indoor swimming pool. Do not forget your bathing suit. The food is average, the rooms too. But the beauty of the place makes us forgive everything else
Atmosphere of the place is amazing. Very nice service. They need to modernize rooms and bathrooms a bit. One star less for dirty floor rag and dents in bathtub.
I was in the restaurant - the place is beautiful, the location is good, the staff was nice. But they worked so slow that I needed to go by the time they brought my drink, so I cant say how is the food or the drinks.
YMCA is one of the historic building in Jerusalem. The same architect that plan the Empire State building. The only place that Doing activity for Jews Muslim and Christians together. Amazing mix Nationalities Kindergarten. An amazing sport center the biggest in the middle East 5 floors of all kinds of sports, a pool, gym, basketball filed. Cross fit. And rooms on rooms for class. The old building have a beautiful garden out side and a lovely caffe/ restaurant to sit and relax. Every Friday the Bells tour is playing andin general the atmosphere there is magical
Fantastic location - 10 minutes walk to Old city Jaffa gate.Great historical building with a tower that has a beautiful view of Old city.Stuff was very helpful and friendly. Good breakfast. Will stay here again!
Beautiful historic YMCA building, has restaurant, hotel, swimming pool and indoor sports facilities, beautiful gardens and architecture and a concert hall. Well Worth at least a short visit and has a very central location
Our family spent two nights in two triple rooms (room for threethere. The place is beautiful, even though it could use a little renovation. Location is great - across from King David hotel, with a high bell tower with magnificent views of the city and walking distance to the old and new city locations. Breakfast was great, and the restaurant is lovely. The sports facilities (YMCAare a little old, but serviceable. limited parking available. The rooms are nice, but could use a fresh coat I of paint. And the price was amazing.
No reason to stay anywhere else. Right across from the King David Hotel. Short walk to the Jaffa gate. Inexpensive. Several fine hotels within walking distance.
What a great budget value with 5 stars service, the hotel is in perfect location, right on King David Road (opposite King David Hotel5 mins walk to mall, 10 mins to King David Tower, Jaffa Gate, perfect locaton, I had private studio with bathroom, room is nice clean and functional, housekeeping did a great job, receptions are always attentive, very helpful, restaurant is great, local and international options, staff are cheerful
Very pleasant place to stay. Very strategic location. You can enjoy the menu on the three arches restaurant for a reasonable price. Staff is very servicial..
A nice historic building in the city center. Unique architecture and nice garden offer a safe and comfortable heaven to the traveler and a cozy place to stay for the budget minded tourist. Worth visiting for the high tower over looking Jerusalem offering stunning views.
The rooms are old and dated. But the amazing lobby and great location somewhat make up for it. Also dont miss the restaurant. The food is great.
Amazing historical locations next to Old Jerusalem. It is a good option if you want to spend 2 or 3 days to visit the city but probably it is not the cheapest accommodation in town. Rooms are nice but furnitures are old. Form the top of the Tower you can get one of the best view of the city. Parking lot available for customer
Old building, beautiful entrance, May be the best location in Jerusalem. The rooms look faded and worn out, the walls are badly repaired from leak damages and the paint barely hangs in some spots. However, the bathroom was very clean and the beds and towels were like new. If they only invested a little in repairing the aesthetics and replacing the broken toilet flush and painting and fixing the walls, this would be a good option. For a budget hotel you may be considering something else in Jerusalem, if walking another 30 minutes is not an issue for you
YMCA 3 Arches Hotel is on excellent location in Jerusalem. The tower of the hotel could be seen pretty much from everywhere in Jerusalem. If you get a room for around 45€ per night per person, go for it. The only thing is that it is a pretty old building and not much luxury.
