Jerusalem Express Restaurants in Puerto Vallarta
Description
Privilege
Great place for getting food to go. Very nice Jewish cuisine. However, the space inside is not very comfortable to sit down and enjoy food
MoreMy wife and I came here for the hummus and shawarma. Food was amazing, owner was very friendly. We will definitely be coming back - highly recommend.
MoreGreat food. Owner is very friendly. Prices are decent
The chicken shawarma was the best I’ve ever had, full stop. Every bit of the meal was fresh as could be and made to order right in front of us. The owner was extremely polite and if we had more time I would have gone here multiple times.
More100% on point!!! I had the Falafel platter, comes with freshly made pita, tabbouleh, baba ganoush and hummus, all of which were delicious......
MoreAmazing Israeli Restaurant! Everything we ordered was really good and tasty
We very much enjoyed the food here. Good prices, good food, and a very inviting owner.
MoreOne of a handful of vegan-friendly eateries in Puerto Vallarta. We had the falafel plate, falafel sandwich, and tabouleh salad. Everything was delicious. The falafel were perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. Highly recommend!
MoreGreat place, excellent falafel and very friendly staff. This place has some of the best falafel I’ve ever had. Thanks for sharing your family recipe with us all!
MoreI went for lunch had a falafel plate, they were super fried, didnt get enough humus, the pita bread was so thick and not really eatable...very disappointed..thought I had found it good place to eat but I will never go back. The price is not the point...its the lack of quality....
MoreOne of the freshest tasting pitas I’ve ever had. Service was great.
Great falafel, the owner is really friend and chill. Will definitely be back!
Absolutely delicious and excellent food and service! Spices are perfect and falafels are the best I have had! Highly recommend!
MoreBest hummus and freshest falafels we have had out of Israel. Highly recommend!
I had the best Shakshuka ever in this restaurant, the Lamb kebab is also very delicious. The prices are good for such tasty foods.
MoreAmazing, authentic, and fresh made food! This place represents Middle Eastern cuisine properly. Definitely give it a try if you want to step away from taco culture while exploring Puerto Vallarta.
MoreI love and adore Jerusalem Express! The food is always so fresh and delicious and healthy to boot, and the owner and his employees are all delightful. Whenever I get a craving for delicious Middle Eastern food - which is quite often - this is where I head and Im never, ever disappointed. I would highly recommend Jerusalem Express!
MoreI expected better. Pita was not warm with the babaganoush and also our pita sandwich was just ok. Also VERY hot in this restaurant.
MoreGreat place to grab a middle eastern food and spice things a bit in Mexico. Alon is a great host and cook. We had the hummus, falafel and shakshukha and they all were amazing. Well done!!!
MoreFresh and Flavorful! Great vegetarian options in Zona Romantica. They have the best hummus and pita I’ve had in a really long time. The falafel pita is also delicious. Worth going the couple of extra blocks to get to it!
Morewife & i split a shawarma chicken combo plate for $150 pesos for lunch. every item on the plate was tasty & fresh. nice change from tacos. we would definitely return. no ambience but who cares? the food was great, the spotify playlist was middle eastern to match and you got a front row seat to watch the chef/host do his stuff.
MoreFalafel sandwich(pitawas refreshing . Ingredients were very fresh . Tamarind drink complemented the meal.
MoreAn unexpected delight in Puerto Vallarta, and a favorite stop. The owner is wonderful, the restaurant is charming, and the food...fantastic. Yes, there is plenty of great Mexican food all over, but you dont want to miss this. Top notch all the way.
MoreA quick and economic bite Great food option when you have had your fill of tacos in PV 😊
MoreI had the falafel plate and it was probably the best falafel I’ve had. Not dry at all and very delicious. I’m sure I will be going back to try more dishes very shortly.
MoreReally enjoyed my falafel wrap! Came with a cabbage salad (cucumber tomatoes cabbage), tahini and lime (limon). I added grilled onions. Yum! And the pita bread is soooo good. Great friendly service.
MoreThe shwarma plate was amazing.Prices are competitive and the service is amazing!Had too many tortillas and wanted a change of pace and this was exactly what I needed. Fresh, flavorful, visually appealing.... what else would you want!Stop in and give it a try
MoreJust had a late lunch.Definitely one of the best meals we ate in PV.
Owner is so nice and everything is homemade! It’s a great place for falafel and pita. Love that they have vegan options. However, I wish you got more food for the price. The portions were small.
MoreSeeing all the positive reviews, I was very disappointed by my experience. I felt compelled to write a review, to give others notice that the food quality is very mixed here. It can be great (as indicated by most of the reviewsor not (in my case).I ordered the falafel plate for 135 pesos. Coming from NYC, Ive had great falafels for $5 usd so I was hopeful. The falafel was small and burnt. There was maybe a pea size of real falafel in the middle of the burnt outside crust. Since I had a takeaway order, I couldnt do anything about it. But as a chef/cook, you should know when youve burnt something (which it was obvious), you should not serve it. Perhaps it was the assistant and not the owner but the quality of food needs to be reviewed.Everything else in the plate was given in small portions (2 Tablespoons worth about). The hummus didnt taste like hummus Ive had before. And there was hardly any couscous in the tabbouleh. The kebab my friend ordered also didnt taste like any kebab Ive had before--the flavor was definitely lacking. My advice: Dont take orders to go. And prepare to be underwhelmed, just in case you go there on a bad day.3 stars for effort. The rest of the food wasnt terrible. The service wasnt terrible (but not noteworthy either).
MoreThe first time everything was delicious. Today I had the worst falafel ever. Half empty no flavor full of raw cabbage. There was a tiny squirt of tahini and no hot sauce. I will be watching carefully next time I go and not accepting a product like that again.
MoreDelicious and fresh food. Falafel were fried to order and crispy and green, not oily or heavy. The babaganoush was probably the best I’ve had. Not bitter at all. Lemony and bright. Thanks!
MoreUnbelievable food! Very authentic and extremely tasty middle eastern food. I was sure we wouldn’t be able to get food like this in PV, but we were very surprised to find this place. I am now a happy repeat customer! Eat here, don’t think twice…
MoreGreat find in Puerto Vallarta - as common for an Israeli restaurant, they had vegan options and the quality and taste was outstanding. Coming from Berlin I’m used to great Israeli food, but the falafel and hummus I got here scored really high! The 2 things I would seek improvement in:1. the amount of food I got was way too little; the price seems low but if you weigh in the amount of food you’re getting is not enough to get full. I was still really hungry after my falafel plate and that I can tell you does not happen in Berlin.2. I really didn’t understand why I had to pay 35 MXN more for turning my falafel sandwich into a falafel plate with the same amount of food on it just with the pita on the side?! I’d love to hear the explanation, dear Sammy! :)Overall, still great and authentic Israeli food experience for vegans travelling to Puerto Vallarta.
MoreWell, I asked about the lamb soup special. And was told what was advertised as ‘lamb’, was actually made with beef. No thanks. Instead I enjoyed a tasty first few bites of falafel sandwich before a few more bites in - getting passed the tahini and salad - got to fat mushy and somehow simultaneously dry falafel. I ordered a hummus which was perfect, made me feel like I was home in north Brooklyn. Thank you for that! While paying I inquired about the convoluted pricing and sizing for orders of hummus. Long and short of it actually means getting a small order (80 pesosto go and asking for an additional piece of pita (10 pesosis cheaper than the ‘dining in hummus order’ (110which is literally the exact same amount served in a dish.
MoreExcellent lunch spot! We had the shawarma and kebab plates. The plates are a great deal since you get to try a variety of things like hummus, baba ganoush, tabbouleh, and salad. The owners are super friendly and treat you like friends.
Morebest food I ate here in Puerto Vallarta! I recommend everyone to try the Pita and also the Baba Ganoush!! I talked with the owner and we had such a nice conversation, now he has a new regular guest and I found a new friend :D Best decision to walk this 7min from the Malecón to get food there, made my day! Greetings from Alemania :)
MoreSo happy to found this place. We had a plate with Hummus, Salad, Falafel, and pita. The food is delicious and Samy was so friendly ❤👍 Were coming back!
MoreWe always look forward to coming to Mexico for the food.. And one of those food categories is the falafel believe it or not lol.. for some reason we cant find the same quality where were from.. Much like the other reviews, this place is bomb! Amazing falafel/pita/hummus/hot sauce... Def check it out if youre into it :)
MoreIf youre like me and have lived in New York for many years, you may associate shawarmas with late-night drunk food. This was one of the reasons why I hesitated to visit this place at first, despite it being highly recommended as one of the best restaurants in PV for vegans.Being a vegan myself, I ordered the falafel sandwich and watched Sammy, the owner, cook everything from scratch in his one-person kitchen. To be honest, my expectations were low because all the falafel Ive had in the U.S. have been bland and dry, but was I blown away by this one. Sammy’s falafel sandwich is a warm, hearty, comforting meal packed with flavor. The falafel is moist and well-seasoned, the garlic sauce and hummus do well to bring out the flavors of the falafel, and the warm pita wraps everything together like a hug.Ive had the pleasure of getting to know Sammy as a person. We talked all about his passion for getting people healthy. Having not had the most healthy lifestyle when he was younger, Sammy is very conscious about food and nutrition. He does marathon trainings on the side and uses the menu as a way to play around with food to see what types of food can help sustain ones energy without any spikes or crashes. This is food that not only tastes delicious and keeps you feeling full but also gives you enough energy for the whole day. My favorite thing about Sammys food is that it does not create gut inflammation, which means I can eat here every day without any digestive problems, and believe it or not, that is hard to find here. One of the things I love about this place is that you can see all the spices he uses on the wall behind the counter, which makes the food feel so much homier. This is the what a home-cooked meal tastes like. As a health-conscious person myself, I prefer to eat foods like this more than foods that get marketed as "healthy" such as smoothie bowls and salads because these traditional recipes carry the wisdoms of people who understood how to heal the body with food and only food.Pictured:- Vegan soup (not on the menu but you can order)- Kitchen with wall of spices- Falafel plate- Oatmeal pancakes that Sammy made for me one day because he was making breakfast for himself and generously asked if I wanted any (unfortunately, I dont think this is available to be ordered, but you can always ask)
MoreExcellent middle eastern cuisine in the heart of Zona Romantica. I had the falafel plate which included 6-7 fresh falafel, baba ghanoush, hummus, tabbouleh, and pita bread presented with garnish of olive oil, tahini, and spices. With a bottle of tea, the bill was 160 pesos. Its a small restaurant with limited seating and one man running the show during my visit but fast friendly service.
MoreI had a falafel sandwich. Everything freshly made, tasted good and good portion. Would have liked more salad and a bit less grease.
MoreNew favorite! Love the falafel. The pita is fluffy. The hummus I especially love. The staff are really friendly too. Highly recommend. Vegetarian and vegan options!
MoreGreat find in PV! Beautiful & elegantly presented plates with reasonable prices. Their hummus and pita is first-rate. So is the chicken shawarma plate. The special off-menu vegan soup (served in a pan on a wood block!is hearty and divine.
MoreBest falafel I’ve had in Mexico by far... maybe anywhere. The hummus and baba ganoush up there with the best. Not sure how people rated this expensive or portions small. We just ate like royalty with four items for $20
MoreReally good falafel sandwich but a bit pricey for Mexico... However I will say that the pita was filled with about 6-7 falafels so maybe thats why. Defiitely worth trying.
MoreAmazing food and kind staff! I tried the falafel plate and it was delicious!!!!!!!!!! If you are in the area don’t hesitate on your decision to come here , just do it, you will love it!
MoreExcellent place. The owner is very perceptive in that he described to me as smart. Whats more hes a great cook with a good sense of humor. Hes from Israel and arrived in Mexico by way of Panama...a woman thing. The sandwiches and conversation hit the spot.He warned me that I might have a strong reaction after eating his food. Happiness.
MoreVery good and whole food. We didnt feel like it was a lot for the price we paid, but the food was delicious and varied. The cook/owner also chatted a lot with us and was personable. If you dont mind paying a little more (like 120 pesos a platethis place is well worth your time. Good vegetarian and vegan options.
MoreGreat place! Really good Meditereanean food, including Hummus, Babaganush, falafel and much more. Everything like home!
