Love, love, love Jerk Island grill.Their ackee and saltfish is always on point! Minimal oil, fresh vegetables, 50/50 of fish and ackee, no cheating!Service is always with a smile.They just need their own restaurant!! Im first in line!👏🏾👏🏾

Tried this place 3 times to give them a chance, in case they were just having a bad day...sadly every time same result - food takes 2+ hrs to arrive, owner gives false information about arrival time, Just Eat estimated time when ordering is completely wrong. Totally lost faith now so wont be using again. Shame!

The order did not even leave the store until after the delivery time. When rang for an update was advised its a Saturday night what do you expect! We are busy and understaffed. I would not use again. An update on delivery estimate would be expected. Would not use again

This company give false and unreliable delivery timeframes…food always late, if they say it’s a 45-minute wait, it means 2+ hours! Don’t order if you’re hungry and don’t believe it when they tell you your food is “on it’s way”!

Sadly Jerk Island Grill has gone downhill. We waited over 2 hours for our food to be delivered, after eventually managing to speak to someone on the phone.The food was luke warm, and to be honest by this point it was not enjoyable.As a "good will" gesture a can of ginger beer was placed in the bag, however our order was £36 so clearly not a meal for one person. So in that regard its quite insulting, in fact it made the 1 star rating more valid.They were much better when based in Station road, and the fact they were busy is not acceptable, as other takeaways deliver on time even during busy periods.Theyve lost my custom, will never order from here again.

Received my order on time, the chicken was covered in yummy jerk sauce and grilled perfectly- tender and moist. Enjoyed rice and mixed of vegetables. Highly recommend and will order again.

What a tasty treat highly recommend to anyone who wants their taste buds pleasing the jerk chicken was out of this world as was the goat an not to forget the amazing dumplings if your in the area living or visiting to try the grill you wont be disappointed

Dry and tasteless! Jerk chicken had no spice whatsoever! Mac n cheese was one big lump of dry tasteless mush!

Higher recommend this place wouldn’t go anywhere else but definitely don’t think you should remove the meal deals! I personally think £7.99 for just the chicken is a little overpriced and would put customers off. But on that note. I wouldn’t go anywhere else 10/10 food and service! 🤟👏

Agree with most reviewers that the food is OK but Oh! so disorganised! Ordered for 7pm, told it would be 7.20. 7.45 came and told he was just leaving (10 minutes away8.30 arrived - Zilch, Exchanges of phone calls (when not engagedfially arrived at 9.20. Had thought about eating my own foot by then. Sort out your order issues! maybe a member of staff whoknows how to organise.

Just had our first take away from here and I couldn’t not leave a review - absolutely delicious, the freshest, tastiest, Caribbean we’ve had - the portions were huge, the flavours were out of this world - don’t get me started on the fried dumplings and macaroni cheese mmmmmmmm……well done guys - we will be back for sure! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Very good food and service, curry goat excellent will order again, rice and peas nice could have done with a few more peas, bbq wings good jerk chicken good but could do with a bit more heat spicy heat, but we will be back soon.

drove from Wickford to collect and was a bit dubious about if it would be worth itTotally worth the drive! Food was unreal & large portions too! Literally as good as the food we had in Jamaica! Would definitely be back for more at some pointThank you very much 😃

The food is great. Unfortunately they can neither deliver it on time - not once in at least 5 experiences - and they dont update the estimated delivery time so you have to chase them. Not only that but the delivery time often slips more than once so you spend a lot of time on the phone. If youre hungry when you order, you will not be in a good mood when your meal finally arrives (often 2 hours after you ordered). Were not using them again as the experience is uniformly awful.

Review amended 3 years later! Jerk Island Grill turned in to my favourite place after an initial poor experience. The food is exceptional and I really miss it now Ive moved away from the area. Jerk chicken, curry goat and dumplings and the wings were my favourites. Happy to recommend now 🙂

Positives: Plantain was fried nicely, wasnt oily, not to ride and not too soft. The food arrived hot enough to eat without having to reheat it which is good.Negative: Im giving 2 stars becuase food took 2.5 hours to come. I tried to call to find out what was up with my order, at 9:50pm but it kept going to voicemail. It was now 10:00pm and shop closed but no sign of my order or update. Was about to proceed to make something to eat as it was now 10:30pm and at that point I just believed they had probably forgotten about my order.10:34 my food came. No apologies for the delay, guy was friendly though I guess... the stew chicken lacked abit of flavour and the rice and peas... the rice didnt taste like authentic carribean rice and peas.Personally wouldnt order from there again as my first experience has not been the best.

Fantastic! Really friendly service and I absolutely love the fact that the first thing you see when you walk in the shop is a traditional oil drum bbq!! I was promised an amazing homemade burger (not frozen!and was not disappointed in the slightest. Cant wait to try the jerk chicken next time.

Enjoying a day by the seaside, got fish & chips with a West Indian twist! Superb curry goat that really hit the spot - cant recommend highly enough!

This is one of our favourite takaway/delivery restaurants in the Southend/Westcliff area. We always enjoy our meal!! Cant wait to enjoy another portion of the goat curry with dumplings!!! Well!...my friends came for a long weekend so came down to join them for the day, fish and chipped out we looked for something else; and found this place. Well i never, i havent tasted food so good from a Caribbean in a long time and im from london! The food was excellent tasted home cooked, great value for money and even though there was a small hick up with the drinks it was rectified quickly by the restaurant; fab customer service.Excellent already planning next weekend with this for our group!.. very impressed.

Dont be fooled by the exterier. Whilst we were waiting for our food, there must have been 10 delivery requests at least and I can see why. Good food and very well marinated. The rice and peas was fresh and fluffy which made all the difference. Good portion size. Friendly service too. What more can you ask for. Wish I lived locally just to be able to eat here regularly. Reasonablw price for the quality too.

We ordered a take away from Jerk Island and have to say, our meal was cooked to perfection. The rice-n-peas was so light and fluffy and full of flavour.The curry again was succulent ,full of flavour and not at all to spicy or salty.My family and I enjoyed our meal so much that we ordered again the very next day.We have dined from Caribbean take aways in the past, none of which come close to jerk islands cuisine.we will most certainly be ordering a meal from jerk island again in future, and would highly recommend jerk island to anyone who wished to experience or loves the real taste of Caribbean food.Thank you jerk island.

Really good. Being half Jamaican I can confirm this is authentic and just tastes really nice. Staff are great too! Eaten from there 3 or 4 times and have not been disappointed.

BEST BACON EVER! I havent had bacon like this in a very long time. It was very tender and chewy and not to oil. You could taste the BBQ and a woody texture. There fried with cheese and bacon where very filling and better than McDonaldd or KFCs fries combined oh and dont forget there rich and bean oh boy last I had that was from a Guyanese Lady back in 2015 brought back some good memories . Definitely coming back to try the rest

Beautiful, fresh, full of flavour, very reasonably priced, the first Caribbean food place Ive been to where they cook there dumplings fresh they are the bomb! My second visit here, I had the curry goat, rice & peas with a side of chicken wings it was delicious highly recommend, look forward to my next visit :)

Best takeaway Ive had in ages food was delicious.It was a extra half hour to hour because they were really busy, but was definitely worth the wait. Staff are really good. 100% getting food from there again. Highly recommended to everyone that loves takeaways :)

This place is awesome. I traveled from California and ended up here because I wanted something unique and was craving Caribbean chicken. I got the jerk chicken burger and it was prepared with great detail right in front of me. More importantly however, I was very pleased with the service. The guy working was solo and he not only cooked great food, but also helped me out with my travel plans. Much appreciated!

In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger "Ill be back." Just moved into the area and noticed this place opposite the station, food was great and portions generous, friendly and timely service. The best jerk chicken place weve visited. Especially recommend the Original Jerk Chicken, Jerk Chicken Fillet Burger and the Mac & Cheese side.

Tried this place for the first time last week and the food is amazing. Recommend the jerk chicken, wings and goat curry - so good and well worth the wait! Plus for any vegetarians out there, the rice cooked in coconut milk is awesome just by itself.

Waited 1 hour and 32 minutes for my takeaway which is too long for my liking. Fried dumplings and patty not great, not enough peas in rice and peas and the rice was rather flat. Curry goat and salad was standard. To be fair, they did knock a few pounds off my order and chuck in a drink otherwise i would had rated this takeaway a 1 star. Ordered twice from here, will not be visiting here again. Disappointed.

Amazing authentic food at a good price. The people running the place are welcoming and very hospitable. Have been a few time in the last couple of months and will certainly be returning.Always worth going to pick up, even if for the smell to whet your apettite!

Been in today and ordered the curry goat meal which includes curry goat, rice and peas, fried plantain and side salad. Honestly not only the best Caribbean grill I have found but personally my new favourite take away in Southend. Friendly staff with great customer service and the food is even better. If you haven’t been yet then you need to go and order ASAP!!

Food tasted good, and didnt take too long to make considering it was made fresh. Jerk chicken was nice, curry goat was delicious and definitely authentic. Portion sizes were decent too. Loved the patties!! Friendly staff, the lady who served me was super nice and helpful; great service - overall quite satisfied. Id recommend as a take away night meal any day.

Every time we have ordered from jig the food has been absolutely delicious.Always our first choice when we order, and on time too.Their curry goat is like sex in the mouth.Would not hesitate in recommending Jerk island grill.May even put an order in tonight.

First time Ive used Jerk Island Grill, via Just Eat. Food arrived in 1 hour 20 minutes (on a Friday night - they were very busy)!Food was really nice! I am very full now.We got;-Rice box with peas* & jerk chicken (for one)-Original jerk chicken, rice & peas* (2 people to share)-Mac & cheese-Beef patty-Chips-Ginger beer(All pictured)& it all came to £23.94 (with free delivery over £10).(The coleslaw was thrown in free).*By peas, they mean kidney beans.- - - - - - - - -Very reasonably priced, for the amount and quality of food.This was definitely enough food for the 3-4 people it was ordered for. The rice and jerk chicken especially was really nice, as was the mac & cheese. Went well together.The chips were standard takeaway ones & the beef patty was alright too. Probably wouldnt bother with them again.The ginger beer complemented the meal.Id certainly recommend JIG to anyone who likes rice/ chicken/ Caribbean style food.All the family enjoyed it and are now rather full.Will be ordering from here again! Was nice to try something new!
