Jemfish Takeaway - Fish and chips takeaway in Kiama, Australia
Great fresh food. Great service. Terrific value.
Really good food. No napkins offered.
Always fresh food and friendly peoplw
Best chips in Kiama! We always make a stop here on our road trips down South.
Nice fresh burgers, fish & chips.
Super fast service, great value for money. Such a good stop off on a road trip.
Quick ordering for lunch with no queue, generous and tasty servings
Nice fish n chips. Quick and easy, open after 7pm which is strangely unusual in Kiama.
Loved it, best burgers and chips ever!
Quick and friendly. However I thought the fish in our fish basket was old and very oily. Wont be back :-(
Omg i loved the snitzel burger absolutely huge and was really nice
Soggy chips, dry fish and salad older than old
Really good hand cut chips, like the ones you’d get in England. Good burger, the ingredients are clearly fresh and things are done with care. The food is also super fast and service is friendly without fuss. An easy 5 star from me for family run takeaway.
Want a side of chips with your oil?I dont know how the locals keep going back to this shop..
Read the good reviews but was disappointed with the food.Blue Grenadier was rubbery, chips were somehow golden and looked well cooked, but were oily and soggy.
This was a favourite spot of our for many years. Sadly we will be giving Jemfish a miss from now on. The chips were beyond oily to the point that noone wanted to eat them.
Some of the best authentic hamburgers in Kiama , the fish and chips are awesome! Service is quick and uncomplicated! Definitely a Kiama go to place for good honest food
Food was less than average, very oily and greasy, took forever to get our order. Overpriced for what you receive
OMG they are so busy and hard working! The fish & chips were good. Indeed a feast for hungry "sea gulls"!
Ordering 4 potato scallops and only getting 2 was really disappointing. Fish was meh. Chips were alright though... wouldnt recommend team
Our local fish and chip shop that we can always rely on on for great takeway food, quick service and friendly staff.
Unfortunately Gemfish did not meet my expectations. When reading other reviews and taking note of the name I thought Gemfish would be a gem on the south coast for fresh fish and chips. Unfortunately my initial thoughts were crushed upon ordering fish and chips. The chips were pale soft and anaemic. It’s very sad because I don’t eat chips often but when I do I do enjoy them to be crispy. The fish did not taste fresh and the batter was not crispy. All in all I was very disappointed with how undercooked both the fish and chips were. If Gemfish want to maintain that reputation of being a gem on the south coast I suggest they monitor how they cook a bit more closely to ensure the fish and chips is crunchy. Unless this happens I would not recommend to anyone
one of the worst as far as fish and chips that i have ever tasted very greasy and hard to stomach . i actually felt sick for 2 days after eating 3 scallops and 1 piece of fish .
After asking for reviews on Facebook we decided to try what a wasted trip fish was dry I got the flathead which is usually nice anywhere but very dry not worth the money
Jemfish Takeaway did an excellent job of catering for our order for 8 people. The food was ready at exactly the time specified. The burgers were substantial, tasty and well worth the money. Fish and potato cakes were cooked very nicely. Batter was crunchy, though slightly oily. Chips were tasty but a touch soggy. Given the sheer volume of the order, these minor shortcomings were very easily overlooked. All of us enjoyed our meal. Overall price was very reasonable. We all agreed that Jemfish should be recommended as a really nice seaside fish and chip shop.
massive portions (even between my kids and partner). quick service. a little bit too oily and fish not fresh but everything else was great
Absolutely perfectly crunchy old school fish and chips.
Huge portions. Tasty fish and chips loaded with chicken salt (upon my request). There was a line out the door but wait was not too long.
We literally threw all of the orders out because of how greasy and soggy everything was. The chips werent crunchy and barely had any salt on them at all. There was also no lemon included with the fish. Waste of money. Would not recommend at all.
We recently bought dinner here, and found it very over priced for the quality of food. Heavily battered flathead with no option for crumbed or grilled. No calamari meal deals, meant paying $1.50 per piece & no kids meal deals either. An expensive dinner of average quality. 👎
Great place for fish and chips whilst in the area. Its seems like its mainly locals who come here regularly. It is so much easier to get to than those on the main road in town.During covid times, you order at the door way and you wait outside.Enough time to duck into the bottleo and grabs some drinks while you wait.Easy parking.
Extremely oily food. Pretty much got what we paid for. Couldnt finish our meal and the paper basically became clear due to the oil volume. Wont be coming back.
Great value for money at Jemfish Takeaway Kiama. Was busy as it was a long weekend. Easy to find on the main street.
45 min wait for Fish and Chips is abit excessive, you should let customers know if your running that far behind. You guys need to have a look at the way you run the place and maybe streamline your menu.
The best takeaway ever! I go to Kiama just to eat there and Im in Sydney. I was asking if there were anything in my area like that and someone mention your shop 2 hours away!!! Dont stop with the awesome chips and scollops
I ordered a fish burger and scallop. There was too much batter layer on each of them. The fish in my burger appeared like big battered balls instead of being flat. But the service was fast and friendly.
Great fish and chips, best in Kiama, crisp batter and traditional chips. tried the wharf, rubbish, tried saltwater recently, they used to be the best fish and chips in kiama but soggy batter and B grade chips, no seasoning and looked and tasted like it was cooked in old oil :(. Do your selves a favour and try Jemfish
Beautiful fresh seafood and 1 minute drive for great spot to eat it and take in the views
Good fish and chips, tasty burgers according to my friends who can eat beef and gluten. Always seems busy, so waiting times are the main concern here. We bought food here 3 times over our stay and each time it was consistently decent. One or two tables out front, but I suggest grabbing to to go and go sit by the beach to eat it.There is also a bottle shop and small general store in this space. There is parking out front which is often full. There’s a couple of parks on either side of the street and it’s a very busy street so look both ways! Nearly saw someone run across on their phone not watching and come to grief.
Chips cooked to perfection and really yummy fish. My eldest son demolished his burger too. Ordered from here this evening and will definitely be coming back again. Really good value for money too. Glad I stumbled upon this place
Average fish and chips dirty oil fresh enough fish thoughThere are much better on the coast
Classic F&C shop, alas most things on the menu are deep fried... every item in the seafood basket was heavily battered, mushy and bland, but the beef burger was pretty decent. It appears they flatten and crumb the chicken schnitzel in house, and next time Id choose that and steer clear of the seafood entirely
Great place for fish and chips takeaway or eat in. We had the Fish Basket Mix. Friendly staff.
Been eating here for about 7 years never had a bad feed. All done the old fashioned way.Best burgers and fish and chips !Has changed hands in recent times but new owners are carrying on the tried and true traditions of yesteryear. Well priced and away from the bustle of town so you get served alot quicker also has plenty of parking. Big thumbs up
Tried their blue grenadier(hokiand chips combo and really enjoyed it. Fast service and fresh fish!
Our fish here was so tasty. We got the pumpkin scallops which were a bit batter heavy but the fish was so good. Perfect batter/fish combo. Chips were great too. Walked down to the local beach to eat them.Fairly quick service too...
Best burgers in Kiama - 5 stars for their burgers. They are big, tasty and well priced. Mediocre fried foods - 3 stars or less. I would have liked to give 5 stars because their burgers really are good. If you have their number ring ahead to order - they can get quite busy and take a while to prepare your order.
Nice little shop, staff werent that pleasant. Food was a little pricey, but OK for the area. Taste-wise it was nothing great, strong oily taste on everything, but the crumb on the calamari was nice and they werent stringy
New owners apparently and obviously trying very hard to make sure they do the best they can. Absolutely fantastic fish and chips. All eaten and that is saying a lot as the servings were huge. Had both crumbed basa and battered flathead and they were both delicious
We had two serving of flathead and a large chips. The chips were really nice but the fish just tasted like the oil it was cooked in and had no flavour. I would go back if it was convenient but wouldnt travel out my way to eat there.
