Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse, Columbus - Steak house in Columbus, United States
I had the pleasure of dining for the first time at Jeff Ruby’s in Columbus and was beyond happy with the experience! We were seated downstairs (loved the ambianceand Tommy was our server. We weren’t sure what to order and he guided us through the menu (the Godfather Sushi Roll to start and I loved it). The food really was as show-stopping and delicious as we had heard and the service was impeccable. The restaurant was packed for a weeknight so I think that says a lot about the restaurant (and staffin general.
Celebrated my birthday here last night and they made me feel so special. Beautiful experience. The hosts were lovely. Our server, Patrick, was phenomenal! The food was delicious and the butter cake was to die for!
The filet melted like butter when I took a bite! Strip was good as well. Had brussel sprouts that had a maple glaze, delicious. Second time at JR, but different location, same results. Service and food were excellent!
The whole experience was fantastic! Atmosphere was on point service was excellent, menu selection was great. The food and taste was not quite as good as I expected but the rest of the experience more than made up for it. If Im back in Columbus, I will be back. Thanks!Japanese a5 Wagyu
My Husband and I went for our delayed anniversary celebration. It was an amazing experience. From the Host, Service, and of course the food. David was hands down one of the best servers ever! Knowledgeable, attentive, and personable. Cant wait to go back again. Butter cake for the win for dessert. New favorite place!
This is based on a very last-minute take-out order experience right before closing, but still, you would expect a much better quality meal for the premium price. We got an overcooked heavily salted cut of ribeye steak and a decent tasting lobster tail. Side dishes were okay. Beautiful interior. Very friendly staff.
"A touch of heaven!" is the words I used to describe the atmosphere. Wall to wall is beautifully crafte. The food was amazing. I truly love Ella ❤ she is absolutely gorgeous, very professional and knowledgeable about the menu. Had the opportunity to meet David such an amazing soul!Thank youChevonne 🌻🍂#SchoedingerPreNeedTeam
Rubys does not disappoint! I have been to Jeff Rubys multiple times with my family, but recently had the opportunity to host a business gathering there. Chip my event coordinator was extremely helpful and helped plan a great evening. We were fortunate enough to have been seated in the "Buckeye" room, which was a perfect setting for our group. The service was impeccable, and the food outstanding as always. Columbus has a great food scene with many options, but if youre looking for the best of the best make your way to Jeff Rubys.
Wanted a good steak , but nothing huge. We sat at the bar which was great! We talked to Kevin the bartender and we split the 16oz blackened rib eye , with fries and half portions of the greens and broccoli. Ordered a good bottle of wine to pair with it. All was fantastic, kitchen sliced the steak and Kevin served us. He was a great host and told us about his favorite places in NashvilleWell worth a dinner there !
The food and service are amazing. Michael was my waiter. The manager came by and made an excellent dessert recommendation… everything was delicious. Visiting for a conference, I’m from Michigan. When I come back to Columbus, I will be back. Thank you for a wonderful dinner.
Super expensive (a generous company handled the billbut fully worth the price. Luxurious food & drink arranged in well-tuned aesthetic ( I had a campfire scented bourbon cocktail before a serving of smoky, aged steak). The long table was just beyond the low roar of the main common room, and the waitstaff were extremely knowledgeable/patient with those of us who wouldnt usually afford such fare. Definitely a place for celebrations , in a reserved, relaxed pace.
We made reservations for our anniversary. The service was great and the food was amazing. I had a medium steak that was perfectly cooked and the lobster mac and cheese was delicious. Definitely try the butter pie! I would certainly recommend for a date night or special occasion.
Well I got bread and blue crab bisque. Then a 1942 margarita and ordered Japanese 8oz wagyu strip with truffle cream corn- then crème brûlée 🤫- bill was enormous(360$), waitresses were stunning and charming, managers very professional- only one thing would of made this a better night and Christ was busy- 5 stars from me 🫶🏼
My wife and I stopped into Jeff Ruby Columbus and were blown away by the service, ambiance, drinks/food, and overall vibe. We only intended to stop for a drink and go to another spot for dinner. However the service at the bar and attention to detail made us stay for dinner and the rest of the evening. The piano player was fantastic and we enjoyed ourselves on all accounts! Thank you Jeff Ruby we will be back.
We totally love the food. They steak does not need the seasoning for it is the best cut of steak ever. The service was the down fall. Our server was supposed to have an assistant to back her up, only saw him once, plates were never cleared from each course we had, we actually stacked up the plates maybe to prove a point, but no. When we ordered dessert is when she move the plates. We shared the sides which was perfect, drinks and beer were spot on. Service needs to step up for the amount of money we spent..
Loved every moment of this fabulous dining experience from the moment we valeted, walked in the front door, with the ambience and great food! This time we dined downstairs in the new bar with drinks and then moved to a wonderful booth. Amanda, the bartender and server were amazing and Dave Monk was more than personable! We will definitely return! Thanks for an amazing experience! Jeff Ruby’s Columbus at its best!
Is there ever anything bad to say about this place? The staff is amazing, the food is spectacular and the decor is beautiful. Steaks were perfectly cooked to the requested temperatures and sides were delicious.
Great restaurant in a 100 + year old building across fron Columbus Convention Center. Pricy but well worth it. Had the filet and the only other steak I have had as tender is a Kobe Steak. The restaurant has only been in the Building for about 4-5 years. Wait Staff was very attentive without hovering, and the General Manager talked to most of the guests as well. Great atmosphere in era decorated and we had a piano player in the lounge. The basement is a wine Celler, with a fair amount of seating as well.. Not a place I would go often but did go twice while in town for Faternal Order of Eagles Grand Convention, once with a Fellow Eagle and once by myself. Highly recommend this place. There are other sites in other cities as well.
Simply the best steak in town. Chip the management and wait staff are all first class. This is old school, old world great service that is executed to perfection. We took friends/clients to celebrate in the newly renovated lower level and it was outstanding. Great improvement and adds even more class to an amazing place. Thank you each for all you do to make our visits memorable every time.Joe and Patty Evans
One of the best culinary experiences I’ve ever had. Amazing food, amazing servers and brilliant ambiance in the restaurant. Our server was named nick. He was very helpful and attentive. I will gladly be coming back as often as I can.
I can see why this restaurant is as expensive as it is. We had shrimp cocktail and the shrimps were easily 5 inches long and delicious. The steak itself was lovely, perfectly cooked, well seasoned. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and courteous. All in all, it was a great meal and a wonderful experience. The only thing I didnt enjoy was the dessert. They serve a famous butter pie and it was just too too sweet for me and was a very one note dish. I would recommend getting something else to feed the sweet tooth after such a fantastic meal.
We were celebrating our anniversary and decided to try Jeff Rubys for the first time. The aged porterhouse was the best steak we have ever had! And the Mac n cheese was the perfect pairing. Everything was delicious, the atmosphere was romantic, and our server, Shaun, made our dining experience one to remember. Its our new favorite restaurant.
Excellent food. The steaks were well made, and the dipping sauces (I tried the peppercornwas excellent). Sides were good too, and for a change a place with plenty of dessert options that are house made! The service was great (shout out to our waitress Rene)
A very fancy place with great food and a big selection of drinks and wines! We tried different kind of steaks and we loved all. The Cowboy steak, dry-aged for 70 days, was the best. However, the New York strip was great too.Our waitress, Rachel, was very gentle, helpful and knowledgeable. She didn’t make you miss anything and she was very detailed in every description. The atmosphere was cozy but fancy. We felt good and we had great time.Prices are a little high, but you pay for the quality.
Amazing ambiance, service and food. Steak was perfect, the sides, expertly executed, as was the dessert. Our server and EVERYONE in the establishment were a cut above and added to the experience in a positive way. I cannot do the excellence of the food justice with words other than to say, go when you can, at least once.
Absolutely fantastic dining experience. From the valet service to dessert, this restaurant makes sure that everything is memorable and completely enjoyable. Our server, David Ellis, greeted us warmly and made the best recommendations for everything from cocktails to appetizers, through the main course and dessert. We never had to ask for anything as he anticipated everything. Trent, the manager stopped at our table to ensure that everything was to our liking and was personable and friendly. The whole experience was beyond anything we have ever experienced and we plan to make this a regular stop when we travel from the Chicago area.HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
The service, food, and atmosphere in the “wine cellar” were outstanding. Great team providing world class customer experiences.
This was my first time here and I came here for my 29th Birthday. I arrived on time but all of my friends were 45 minutes late. The staff were so sweet and nice. The food was amazing and the service was even better. The best restaurant experience Ive probably ever had in my life. It is definitely worth the price. Id also like to thank the waiter Nick for making my birthday memorable.
Jeff Rubys is an absolute GEM in downtown Columbus. Fantastic high-end steakhouse with one of the most inclusive and incredible steakhouse menus ive seen in a while. Thomas S and his crew did an incredible job! That is what I loved about this place aside from amazing food and great setting - world class SERVICE. They know how to make you feel special. Thank you for a great experience! Looking forward to seeing you again.
The sea bass, Mac & cheese, and spinach was phenomenal. Their dessert menu is also top notch! I got the banana pudding ice cream and my parents got the carrot cake. Both were delicious. This downtown location is right down the street from nationwide arena so plan to pay for valet parking for convenience or fight for on street parking, which free on Sundays by the way.Very upscale type of restaurant you want to get grown and sexy for and a great place for special occasions. There’s a more private intimate area downstairs which is a good option if you want some privacy or exclusivity.
Pleasant service, delicious food. Good design and great atmosphere. We were tired, after a hard day, and they found us a table and served us very politely. Thank you 🙏🏼
Superb. The service that Jordan provided (Thank You!was outstanding and the food was amazing. To say that this was a personalized experience would be an understatement. The staff spent time with my wife and I and went to great lengths to get to know us.The portions are generous. We split our meal and found it was the exact right amount. Cesar Salad, a 12 oz barrel cut, Mac and Cheese.Thank you Jordan and the entire Columbus Team. See you again soon.
Absolutely amazing ambiance, food and service by all. The only thing I will say is that it is very expensive so it is not something we could personally do regularly but definitely nice if you can manage it on rare occasions. Prices are on the web menu so we knew what to expect going in. Enjoyed our date night 100%
Absolutely amazing! I will definitely come back. I wish I could afford to come every week! The service was great. The cocktails were very good. I got the lamb chops and the rub on them were sooooo good. My husband got the Waygu beef and was absolutely amazed. It was my husbands birthday and they brought him a special dessert 🥳
Everything about this place is fantastic. The place has a great atmosphere and is styled 1920s and art deco. The steak and lobster I had were amazing, highly recommended. I also highly recommend the mac and cheese, simply delicious.
I have eaten at Peter lugers in New York I have eaten at Saint Elmos in Indianapolis Ive even eaten at the Hereford house but Im here to say Jeff Rubys is one of the best steaks Ive ever had
Our server was very knowledgeable and was always there when we needed her. She knew the menu by heart, fun facts about all the food and wine. She was truly incredible. I wish I could remember her name. She has the short curly dark hair. She truly was the best server weve ever had.As far as the food, exceptional. The best steak we have EVER had. (And we travel alot)The dinner sides were amazing and my husband and I shared them.We tried new drinks and we loved them. The dessert was incredible as well. The whole experience from start to finish was an A+ experience. We will most definitely be back when we are in the area.
Jerald(hope I spelled correctly, my apologies if notprovided us with outstanding dine-in service, was a really comfortable environment. The food has great attention to detail in terms of richness and varieties of flavors, that goes especially for their sauce. Comparing to the same price range restaurants in Columbus, the food and service at Jeff Ruby stands out without a doubt. The Jeff Ruby Experience certainly did not disappoint!
Excellent food and top notch service. Beautiful setting and environment. We loved the live piano, made for great ambiance. The thick cut bacon was outstanding. Crab cake was the best Ive ever had. Filet was extremely tender. My partner got the cowboy steak and was thoroughly impressed. I didnt care for the potato hassleback, a bit underwhelming and not what I expected. Other than that, everything was perfect. We had the buckeye cake for dessert, its remnisent of peanut butter and jelly, in the best way possible.
Went for my anniversary dinner. Was leery about going because since the pandemic service has been so bad and understaffed almost everywhere you go. I didn’t want to spend the money for Jeff Ruby to be disappointed HOWEVER this was not the case our dinning experience which consisted of more than one server was probably the best overall dinner experience I’ve ever had and worth every cent. The restaurant has an old brat pack feel, live piano music, beautiful decor and great, great, great food. Thanks for restoring faith Jeff Ruby.
Shout out to Jeff Ruby’s. We showed up on Saturday evening at 8 for our reservation - which somehow I made for Sunday at 8. They asked us to work with them and within a few minutes, we were seated on the patio which was heated. Erin, our server was fantastic. The food was great and we will be back
Jordan was a great host while my cowboy ribeye was grilled to perfection! The Ice cream corn is a must try dessert!
Everything about this restaurant is amazing. We go often but I have never left a review. Each time we go the food and service is perfect. Staff are all so friendly, going back tomorrow. Erin was so nice and knowledgeable about the menu it was impressive. Thanks again.
I went to Jeff Ruby’s for the first time for an early dinner this past Saturday and I was blown away. Amazing service, great ambiance, and the best steak I’ve ever had.I had the Steak Burrow, a 14 oz strip steak with a creole crawfish sauce. I had it prepared medium rare and it came out just right. Honestly, the steak itself was so flavorful the sauce was almost unnecessary, but it was also very good!Aside from the steak, I had a vodka martini that was mixed perfectly, the brandy maple glazed Brussels sprouts, and the baked macaroni and cheese. The Brussels sprouts are a must if you like em - seriously, they were slightly blackened and crispy, and so good with that glaze. The mac and cheese was also fantastic. Very creamy and the crust on top really made it.The staff were friendly and really try to get to know you. They’re also extremely knowledgeable of the menu and can help you out if you need info on steak cuts or any of the other dishes.Jeff Ruby’s will be a staple for me anytime I’m in Columbus moving forward!
Jeff Ruby’s did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in the door, we had an amazing experience. The hostess was pleasant and the atmosphere was stunning. The service we had MADE OUR NIGHT. It was impeccable. Randy and David-THANK YOU! Not only were these two gentlemen professional, knowledgeable, and attentive, they took pride in their job and they love what they do. The steak, lobster, shrimp, sushi, and mac and cheese were all superb. We will definitely be back and will make sure to spread the word!
Everything about this place is top notch. The service is phenomenal the food is amazing. I had the 22 oz cowboy steak and my wife had the 14 oz steak burrow. Both were cooked perfectly. We also had the asparagus which was very delicious. Be warned that you fully pay for what you get here. It’s a very expensive but well worth it meal. If I’m ever back in Columbus I’d go again.
First time here and absolute perfection doesn’t do this experience justice. Ordered the 12 oz filet medium butterflied.. perfect temperature texture and flavor. Ordered lobster Mac and cheese and lobster mashed potatoes recommended by the best person ever Thomas! And both were amazing side dishes .. sooo .. portion awesome had to take it home .. plentiful lobster pieces in both! Carrot cake so moist and just sweet enough.. butter cake ala mode (Davidwas like southern bliss .. too hard to explain on here ! The two week aged Manhattan was two delicious to stop ordering -4- ;Will be coming back especially with the rewards program! We found the columbus jemAnd just hope you all get a chance to experience the phenomenal service, food and drink we did and will be forever customers..
So I loved the hash browns! Best thing on the menu! I ordered the salmon, hash browns, and grilled asparagus. Again, the hash browns; for me; was 👏🏽. The salmon was cooked perfectly but the seasonings werent apparent. Others ordered the steaks and mac & cheese and werent thrilled about either. Presentation was nice but flavors were lax. Took 30 minutes to receive our bills due to continued confusion 😕🙄. The "BUS-LADIES" were the most enjoyable interactions the entire time! Sales pitch/back story to the "newbies" was long winded and put into play a certain standard that we all expected. Again the "BUS-LADIES" were the most enjoyable interactions the entire time! 🤵♀️🤵🏻♀️🤵🏼♀️🤵🏽♀️🤵🏾♀️🤵🏿♀️
I have been to many upscale steak houses. Fleming, seagars, Ruth Chris and this was by far the absolute best steak I have ever had. The service was exactly what you would you should expect from an establishment like this in a warm and cozy atmosphere.
Love the place. A little pricey but worth it. Service is great. Each wait staff speaks to you & floor managers are always around & will jump in when needed. My sons steak well done, not the way he asked for it, and when he said he would eat it anyway, they were nice enough to take it off check! Amazing these days!
