5 Parkway, Camden Town, London NW1 7PG, Butiama
Intimate venue for jazz, soul, reggae and more from homegrown and international stars.
I have never seen such an empathetic place in my entire life. The tickets I bought for the Turkish concert were garbage. Exactly 100 pounds for the tickets and 75 pounds for babysitting wasted. Even though I bought a table for two, they took us to the bar chair. Even though I said many times that I cant sit on the bar chair. After an hour, my feet were swollen, we asked again, please give us a chair without a high rise. And although the next 5 tables for 2 people were empty, manager lady didnt care about to us. We had to leave an hour after the concert started. I do not want to hope you need a table and two chairs for the rest of your life
The venue is great, the staff are lovely, eve though I do think the bar staff should be dressed smart casual, to reflect how well the door staff are dressed. The sound system could do with a little tune up, some of the speakers are sounding a little distorted. My only real problem was the type of guests the venue now attracts, I saw people on a Saturday night attending a club event wearing tracksuits and dirty trainers, and unfortunately the lead to the vibe inside the club being very yobish, and poor drunken behaviour coming mainly from the women in attendance.I remember a time when Jazz cafe was a prestigious night one would put on his/her best clothes to attend. It seems like those days are far behind us now.
An institution in London. Grab a balcony table if you can. The place is so intimate and you dont have to pay the earth to see great musicians
I had restaurant tickets for a concert. It was my first time visiting. The venue opens at 7pm, they didnt let us in untill 7 so had to queue in the rain but the lady at the door offered us an umbrella. Very kind. The restaurant is upstairs, great view of the stage. I had aubergine starter which was tasty but tiny, fried chicken was delicious, vegan burger did not taste vegan, the sauce was like big Mac sauce and the cheese tasted like real cheese!!! It was amazing!! I had a pear tea mocktail which was so good I would get it again!! The staff are amazing and friendly. Service was quick. The upstairs toilet for the restaurant was never busy and quiet clean. After eating went downstairs to get a closer view of the stage, got to the front easily, amazing atmosphere but enjoyed sitting watch from the restaurant more. Great venue I would love to visit again.Parking on street free after 6.30!
Saw Syleena Johnson live and the spot has excellent ambiance. Drinks were good. Even though I had a standing room ticket, it was perfect for an intimate concert. ❤️❤️❤️
They cant sell those many tickets. It was overcrowded. The space and atmosphere are nice but if you buy a ticket for a concert your expect to be able to hear the music properly... Thats not necessarily guaranteed at Jazz Cafe
One of the best music venues in London, friendly service, delicious food and a very good wine list.I have visited Jazz Cafe many times and I have never been disappointed.I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to experience an excellent unforgettable night out.
Love it here, great vibes, great venue, been a while since Ive been out, was superb as always! Forgot youre never far from the stage in this place.
Great acoustics, nice mixed crowd and very close to Camden tube in this iconic venue.
Few weeks back me and my girlfriend went out to see one of our all time favourite DJ Krush. The whole experience was absolutely amazing. Obviously the artist performance was fantastic and the sound quality and atmosphere was there as well, but the main reason I want to share my experience is the people who work there. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a honest smile by security man followed by lovely girl who was standing by the doors. We decided to eat dinner during the performance in the restaurant located above the stage with amazing view on the whole performance. The service was impeccable. From the moment we sat down our waitress Nathalie was looking after us with care. She quickly brought our drinks ad was making sure we had everything we needed. Food was also amazing as it was the whole evening. I recommend this venue to everyone as the music variety is big enough to offer something to everyone.
If you are looking for a place to spend a great night and enjoy good music in London, Jazz cafe might be the place. They always a great selection of artist playing from around the world and the staff is very helpful.Had an amazing time there will definitely recommend it!
I have been to the James Taylor gig in October and apart from that the performance itself was as great as expected I still went home quite frustrated. The Jazz Cafe has always been one of my favourite venues while I was living in London, but I found it quite appalling now that you open the doors at 7pm and then let the people wait for 2 hours 15 min WITHOUT any announcement, neither on your website nor at the venue. Actually, when you google it, it says "live music starts usually an hour after doors open". This is what customers should be able to rely on. Expecting that people have to wait for more than 2 hours without any support act on stage, not knowing what is going on, is quite customer unfriendly. I saw many people in groups, enjoying themselves, but do you also consider that people come on their own? In that time I could have easily gone for dinner somewhere in Camden. To be honest, I am not sure, if I ever come back to your venue! Before I wrote this review, I had tried to contact you via email, but got 24 hours later the "postmaster, not delivered" email. Again: very customer unfriendly!
Ive visited the greatest Jazz Cafe to enjoy my evening with my friends and DJ KRUSH. We booked a table in the restaurant and I must say - this night was THE NIGHT! Our service was excellent! Beautiful waitress called Natalie was serving our table the best way possible. She offered us amazing drinks. Service was quick and efficient. My medium rare steak was absolutely the best Ive ever had, my cocktails Paloma and Pear Old Fashioned were delicious! 10/10 night. Please consider to book your evening here, its worth any money. Jazz Cafe the finest! Thank you.
Very down to earth club, have always had a good time whether at a gig or a club night. Crowd super joyful and music is always class.Crazy drink prices though hahaha
Loved the atmosphere and whole décor of the club. The employees were very warm and helpful. Music was 10/10 and introduced me to some new artists that I werent previously familiar.Would definitely recommend and will be returning with friends and family later this month.
If you love live music thats the one of the greatest places in London. Great atmosphere, great music, great food and drinks, very kind and professional staff ❤Thank you! See you again, again and again 👊
Great venue. Friendly staff great acoustics
Great venuew upstairs seating area very stylish drinks bar nice atmosphere
I went here for an Apollo Brown concert on the 23rd August, I had such an amazing time and experience. The artists were amazing and fully into their music and legit, very interactive. Would definitely recommend and I would definitely go again!
One of the best concerts ive been to - Lentourloop!!!Would love to return to the venue for other concerts or just for a night drink. 😊
This place has been renovated from the last time I attended an event here. It is more spacious (thank God they got rid of that bar in the middle of the hall), its airy, and the acoustics is great. Nice that the green room is beside the stage now, instead of upstairs behind the bar where it used to be. Drinks are still expensive, but its a premium venue so thats expected
Good venue, gets really hot but no menu for bar drinks only for restaurant seated, which doesnt help if you are indecisive like me. Good and friendly bar staff, help your decision but they do have the classics available like dark and stormy and margarita. The dark and stormy I had last time was great 👍
Nice place clean & nice staff.I was charged for a spilled drink that is a bit extreme considering the cost of 1 drink with a mixer.
Great ambience, the screen was big enough to be seen anywhere in the room. We went to see the Studio Ghibli show, and managed to get a decent view of the band too. Would probably get a table next time for extra comfort on the balconies.
Good vibes and energy when I go. Always look forward to a night at Jazz Cafe. You really feel artist interaction which adds to the electric atmosphere.
I liked the bar, they always have great shows on. They bring in lots of up and coming musicians. Its a small intimate venue. I like that you can sit upstairs to watch the show from a more relaxed setting with a great view.
Incredible venue for intimate gigs. Very friendly staff too and good prices for drinks! Will come back soon and check the restaurant out!
We went to see the London Community Gospel Choir and a had table upstairs for dinner, but they have dancefloor / standing downstairs with Bar. Great venue, good food and friendly staff for a great night out.
Great venue, up close and personal recent Julian Marley concert was amazing.Located in a wonderful part of Camden plenty of places to eat locally and have pre and post drinks .
The venue is great, the music was very enjoyable and will definitely be going back! The only down side is the food (we had nachos and frieswas too small and over priced. But the bathroom was clean (upstairs was the only one I triedand the service was very good. But as youre mainly coming for the music its a great, intimate venue letting you up close to the stage for a great atmosphere and night out!
Review based for: Alceu Valença on 20/07/22Great venue, show was very pleasant and the staff very friendly.Mad respect to your staff always spot on, working tirelessly by constantly picking up debris, wiping surfaces and floors to prevent any hazards to occur.Easy to get drinks, toilets well maintained and sound acoustics very enjoyable.Had a lovely evening and left with the certainty of returning soon!
Always love this venue. EEK- A- MOUSE was really good! Such a character
Here for Mike Stern band - great show, and the Jazz Cafe is one of the only places youre likely to see fusion big names outside of the tourist-trap money-pit that is Ronnies...The sound was good, the aircon was cool, and the beer pricey... but not as pricey as Ronnies! Its revamp a few years ago has turned it more into a box to squeeze in as many punters as possible (it was rammed for Mikeand theres fewer corners to claim yourself a spot, no matter how early you roll up. So it can be a bit of an endurance test for us oldies!Still worth enduring though when they get acts of this quality.
A friend and I came here for a Brazilian Music night (featuring Ayom, who were fantastic). We had a restaurant table (with very high tables)... the service here was great from start to finish - our waitress was very smiley, very warm and always checked in so we were never waiting too long, she made us feel very special (not sure what her name is, but we were on Table 21 on July 5!). The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. We could hear and see the bands without issue also.
Great night had at the Afrobeats Orchestra in June 2022.
Been to jazz cafe many times before, this time was to see band from Ghana called Santrofi. Great, joyful African rhythms, excellent!
Excellent place to watch a live performance - intimate, cosy, with good views of the stage literally everywhere across the venue. Building is gorgeous inside and outside. The door policy is a bit too strict though - had to leave my grocery shopping at the entrance which felt a bit ridiculous as Id put my backpack in the cloakroom anyway. Also they dont accept American Express which caused me problems.
Great music venue, we have been for 3 shows and always enjoyed it. You can always get close to the artist as the venue is very intimate. Never tried the tables area upstairs as they are always sold out by the time we get our tickets.Cocktails like Gin and Tonic are pretty awful, they cheapen out without buying proper tonic and don’t have any sugar free versions.Stick with beer and wine.
The best place in London without a doubt!!! They have a great space for shows...and also a perfect place for you to have dinner.I highly recommend you to go to the Jazz Cafe 🤩
Nice smallish venue with good atmosphere!Saw one of my fav groups there, and going back next week too!Great night!!
Amazing gig, really nice venue but really bad security staff. Had some food items Id bought in London that day and had told him I was taking it straight down to the cloakroom but he took it out anyway and I never got it back. Drink prices are reasonable.
Always a good vibe. Ive seen many groups or artists here and always have a good time. Security tight but polite even a bit lenient actually. Friendly staff and bar with plenty drink options.
Groovy lights, suave interior and chill vibes. I went to see a musical event there and enjoyed the atmosphere. May have to try the restaurant section upstairs at some point too.
The door staff, cloakroom attendants and the individuals that tidy the venue, are fantastic. Friendly, professional and helpful. A good vibe in the venue and very spacious. Covid requirement checks, are proficient and generally the crowd that attends are chilled and good natured. I would recommend this iconic venue. Two minute walk from Camden Town station.
A really great venue! Saw a German group the other night and it was an absolute blast! Staff are real friendly, good places to dance around, and safe environment. Id definitely go back
Fantastic Darius Brubeck concert.Recreated the Time Out album of his father, Dave Brubecks, quartet. It was based on unusual time signatures (not something that I fully understand). Famous tracks included Take Five and Blue Rondo a la Turk, plus some newer numbers from Darius own quartet.Good choice of bar drinks.Helpful staff. Very little queueing.Difficult to social distance in the standing only area. Book early to get restaurant tables upstairs.
My first time in attendance.Intimate and warm venue. Was able to grab a no-show table. So glad, the meal was fantastic! Good quality tasty food. The staff were attentive and friendly. Highly recommended.
What an atmosphere. We saw OSIBISA and it was electric. We sat upstairs in the restaurant overlooking the stage and enjoyed great service. We are coming back soon. Tnx to all the crew at Jazz Cafe xx
The Iconic Jazz Cafe is a wonderful venue to enjoy musical performances. The sound acoustics is of high quality 👌 making the live performance sound just like listening to the actual recording. They provide a very safe environment whether you are attending solo or with a group. The artist in my picture is recording artist, Howard Hewett, stellar performance 👏.
One of the best small intimate venues weve ever seen. It felt like the band was playing for us. Excellent attention by the staff for drinks. Brilliant sound mixing. It was just perfect, surpassing our expectations
