1421 Farnam St, Omaha, NE 68102, United States, Omaha
Relaxed Cajun-Creole chain serving classic fare, including po' boys, gumbo & blackened catfish.
This place was FILTHY! Old food on the floor under the tables, dust everywhere, dirty utensils. Just a hot mess. They gave us cold hard bread with bland butter. I had the gumbo and it was more like a gravy I couldnt even see the ingredients to know what I was eating. It tasted horrible! The food seemed to be old and reheated. Everything looked like a bowl of gravy. I wont be back.
Great Food! Good music! Fast Friendly Service! Soon after Ashley waited our table and it seemed like just seconds past when our appetizers arrived with the usual bread basket and creamy seasoned butter. I can not resist the bread at JAZZ! This was our 1st time at this location Downtown Omaha Nebraska. The decor echos a similar vibe as KC locations. The band playing from above balcony similar to Legends KC. Can’t go wrong with menu favorite Chicken A la mer. Side of okra and jambalaya. I left feeling full and content after having an enjoyable evening.
This place was FANTASTIC! I ordered the Seafood St. George and was not disappointed. The food was.phenominal, and the prices were great
Lovely atmosphere. They had a jazz band there that was amazing..... if you enjoy a super hot, spicy dish u cant go wrong with the shrimp creole!!! 1st time having beignets....I went back the next morning for some more. They were absolutely delicious!!!
I went to the Jazz restaurant, downtown Omaha, tonight. My 7th time going there. I tried something different. I didnt care for it. The restaurant has delicious food and I will keep going back. But, tonight, my waitress gave me a $20 dollar certificate, good for my next visit there. That was so nice of her. I would keep going back, even if she hadnt given me that certificate, because the food is delicious and all the wait staff are so nice. Thanks Devin and Jazz restaurant. I really appreciate what you did for me Devin.
Service was extremely slow, drinks were terrible. Took 35 minutes after we sat to get our drinks. Had one round from the bar and a talk with the Mod before our drinks were out. Food was amazing. Just dont expect to get in and out of that place in a timely manner and have a drink before you go. Oh and I forgot to mention to automatic gratuity they added to our bill without our knowledge. I feel the service sucked because she knew she was already getting a tip.
I used to love Jazz, while Im not writing it off, my recent visit on Friday was pretty disappointing. I ordered the Shrimp etouffee which tasted like black pepper. My companions ordered Chicken a la Mer, which was rich and tasty; and Shrimp Creole, which was spicy and bursting with flavor. The calamari rings were flavorable and fried perfectly, so overall the food was pretty good. Our waitress took great care of us, she anticipated our needs, we didnt have to ask for anything not even split checks. While I am willing to give them a pass on the Etouffee there were a couple things not as easy to ignore. To begin with the restaurant looked very run-down, seemed to be poorly maintained and in desperate need of a good, hard scrubbing. As a matter of fact when one of our party was returning from the restroom a pipe in the ceiling gave way sprinkling him with water. Seemed like it must be a common occurrence as a bucket was quickly in place to collect the water which continued drip down. Shortly thereafter the food runner decided to just sit on the floor for a while. Not sure if it was in frustration over the leaking pipe or something else but he did not appear to be ill or injured. The other staff certainly gave him no attention and just went about their duties. The menus were extremely worn, dirty, cracked and literally falling apart. Lastly, while I like the live music and the band was really good, it was also extremely loud. When the band played you could not talk, you could scream but conversation was not an option.
Im from Louisiana living in Omaha and Jazz is a taste of home! Its great to see some Cajun food outside the bayou! Love you guys <3
Great little place for some real south style food. Steaks are to die for and the seafood plater is the bees knees. Jazz music plays here at 6pm for those jazz lovers so definitely check this place out. Went here a few weeks ago with my other half and just between us the ticket was around 50. Not bad pricing and there sweet tea.... Delicious!!!!
Man is this place good. We went solely off of a co-workers recommendation and werent disappointed. Walked in and were seated right away, got drinks pretty fast and I got sweet tea, which outside of the south is hard to find good sweet tea and this place has it. The server recommended a dish and I went for it and was blown away. Food is outstanding but the best part was the service we experienced. The server went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Just blown away by the experience tonight. To top it off, the jazz music was a very nice touch to enhance the dining experience. Absolutely a must visit for anyone who enjoys high quality cajun food. You wont regret it.
I travel weekly and to keep this food didnt remind much of New Orleans/Cajun yeah it had spices but the gumbo was no where near what real gumbo is to taste like. I didnt even taste or see any sausage in it.
Went into this not knowing what to expect... I had a great mothers Day lunch food was amazing and the drinks were strong no complaints at all. Not many people were in the restraunt Im hoping more people go to keep them in business. Keep up the good work jazz
Was absolutely amazing!!!! The food and atmosphere were wonderful. Loved the live band playing throughout our meal. Having been from out of state, we werent sure what to expect but so glad that it blew our mind!!
Great atmosphere. Live music is comforting yet can make conversation difficult. The andouille sausage was overdone, and the coleslaw tasted old. Other than that it was a great place with good food. On the higher side of moderately priced yet still not bad. The staff were friendly and the drinks were amazing.
After several trips to Omaha, we wanted to try a place the locals liked, so we asked around, and Jazz came up more than once. Our visit did not disappoint! It was great to have the live music in the background, great food, and some different choices. I wouldnt say I have a distinguished pallette by any means, but I do appreciate a good-sized serving, and thats what I got here! Service was good too, and a very interesting decor so you can keep noticing new things throughout your visit!
The 3 stars are for the taste of the food only! Food was great. That being said, the service was horrible. We could not get any service unless we stopped the person that was "helping" us. Took and hour and 10 minutes to get our food. And that was after I stopped said person and asked where our food was. He made excuses about waitstaff calling in so on and so forth.... but we literally got nothing Unless we stopped him and asked if we could order and such. I absolutely have no doubt we would have sat there forever if we hadnt stopped them. He did take some objects off and gave us a discount after I had my say and let him know how i felt about it. I worked in the business for many years so i understand things happen. But this was beyond any excuse.
Always my favorite New Orleans cuisine. I remembered been good but dang 1-5 I give it a 10. I always ask for crawfish andallouise fetuccini. THE BEST
We always enjoy our meals when we go to Jazz. The wings are unlike anywhere else in Omaha. Sadly, they raised their price on them but still, they are amazing. We have never ordered anything we didnt love. The gumbo is good, the blackened chicken is good, the shrimp is good. Yes, it is all good. All that being said, sometimes the service is a bit slow but not enough to keep us away.
Never had Cajun food before, so this was a real treat! I got the Chicken a la Mer and Bread Pudding (pictured), and both were excellent; not to mention the great staff!
Great food! Try there Lemon Pepper Chicken! Its an addiction!
Solid Louisiana/Cajun restaurant with an extensive menu that has almost all the classic dishes you would expect. Atmosphere is really well done for this type of restaurant. Dishes Ive had arent gourmet but they are pretty solid for the price. Chicken a la mer is the best dish Ive had and its half off for lunch on Tuesday with a drink. Probably wouldve given 5 stars but the waiters seem to have an issue with the check at least half the time I go here and it usually takes an extra 5-10 minutes to get it resolved.
Unlike other restaurants, their “hot boiled crawfish” is not boiled with hot sauce. They boil crawfish in water and then add cajun to the top of the crawfish, which unsatisfied me a bit, but the service is good.
Food was great, waitress was not. She wasnt horrible, but definitely not up to par. She seemed to be stressed, like she had too many tables to handle, but it wasnt busy and we saw multiple servers helping other tables. She also wasnt sure how food was prepared or what alcoholic drinks they had available that night.
Went for lunch. The gumbo wasnt great but Ive had worse. Unappetizing was the fried crawfish tails that were literally drowned in sauce. I wish the sauce had come on the side because it was very overpowering and destroyed all hints that you were eating crawfish.
Heard really good things about this place, especially the stuffed special. Food ended up being okay/good deoending on the dish. I added a star because the beignets came out hot and fresh, tasted phenomenal.
The food:excellent! Fair price. Not the quickest service, but friendly. Food is delicious and there several dishes to choose from on the menu on the traditional side of Cajun and Creole food. Theres plenty of beer on tap. Did I mention the food is delicious?
The food is very good and our server was the best the only reason Im rating three Stars is because the live music was so loud I couldnt hear anything. The server had to sit next to my wife and I and almost scream to order our meal. I left with a headache. It almost ruined an otherwise very pleasant experience. I recommend you avoid going when the live music is going on. To bad the restaurant manager doesnt understand that loud music doesnt mean its good music.
This has been a favorite of my family for sometime now. Everything from the esthetic, service and absolutely the food is great here. If Cajun is in your tastes this is the place to go, Ive never had a meal I didnt enjoy. Prices are pretty decent and the portions are large. Theres a creative drink menu and they even do live music from time to time. Worth checking out!
Great atmosphere, great food. They give you so much food you might not be able to finish it all. I had a great Gourmet Coffee, and they got a good beer selection. Nice place to go when casual or just have a t-shirt, but you can also dress up for late night food and Im sure you can hear Jazz when they have it scheduled.
It was ok... Im from Louisiana and the food was kinda bland from what I expected... overall nice atmosphere and nice service
I went to Jazz with my brother to grab a beer and a snack, while also having a chat. We went during happy hour. They seem to have a small group of regulars but are otherwise not busy at this time of day, making it a nice place to get a drink and talk. We had stuffed mushrooms and rice and beans. Both dishes were good and the specials price made it absolutely worth it. I could see myself going back here on occasion.Ive been told they have live music and other things, so Im hoping to check it out when they have an event going.
Loved the food. I think they were a little shorthanded when we were there because it did take a little while to get our food and drinks. The waiter was very nice though. The staff was all working very hard. I would definitely go back again.
My wife and I came up from Louisiana on a business trip and gave this place a shot. It looks really cool on the inside. I like the way yall had it decorated. Seemed like it was a little understaffed and the waitress was busy and took awhile to give the tab and change back, which is understandable since it was just her and another waitress . I got the fried shrimp po boy and and the shrimp appetizer. It was ok but its not like Maw Maw cooks it... It wasnt fried in corn meal it just seemed like mostly bread and not shrimp. Needs some corn meal and spice to it.. The bread was also a little bland but the seasoned butter was very good. This place seems like it could be awesome especially with live bands. Just needs a little work but I would eat here again.
The food was amazing! 😋 will definitely go back!
The Jazz.... first time here. The atmosphere is cool but Im sorry, the food was terrible. I noticed a couple had left barely touching their food and I would soon find out why. The gator bites I ordered were overpriced and fried too hard, all I could taste was hard breading. They were also trying to pass off tiapia as catfish and that too was overcooked. My sister ordered the stir fry and it was all veggies and no chicken. There was so much food left behind I felt bad for laughing at the other couple.
We should have followed our instincts and left before we sat down. The unexpected live band was way too loud for a formal dining experience. We had to shout to talk however we decided to see this out. The calamari appetizer was largely more banana pepper then calamari. The bread was very dry & bland. My entree of the Seafood St. Charless was just ok. I counted 4 total shrimp. The pepper was overwhelming and I didnt finish it although I was still hungry. The bill was over $60 for 2 people who neither finished their meals or ordered cocktails. We noticed we had been up charged almost a $1 per item ordered. The hostess explained they do that during live bands. So now I was actually being charged for the previously mentioned annoyance of a live band. They should had told us this prior to ordering. You can find a lot better dining experience and get a more fulfilling meal in the downtown area for a lot less money.
Great food! Wonderful atmosphere, and quick friendly service! Definitely making this spot a regularly!
Amazing ambience. Took me back to New Orleans ❤️❤️❤️Great food!PS- however, will not recommend the jambalaya. It lacked the authentic flavor.Shrimps and blackened chicken and mushroom Étouffée were amazing!
Food was good though the service took a very long time. The waitress kept kicking the back of one of our guests seats so we had to change tables. When we received the bill, there were additional charges to pay for the band that wasnt playing there. The drinks were over priced to also pay for the band that wasnt there. The food was good but everything else left a lot to be desired.
Great food. It was a Monday night and they had the game on pretty loud which was a little annoying. But the food had amazing flavors, the service was good and they let us sit away from the tv. Will definitely be back.
I am amending my review because I used to love this place and go multiple times a week. I had been going here for seven years. Over time, the food quality and service started to drop. The last time I went in with two friends was an hour before close. I called ahead to make sure they werent closing early. They said no, so we showed up, expecting to get a beer, eat something, and leave before close. The bartender/waitress "helping us" left us menus, and then went out to smoke without asking if we wanted drinks/food etc. okay whatever...well order when you come back in. She comes back in and immediately starts closing duties, sweeping, rolling silverware etc. Finally after 15 minutes (we counted), she came and asked if we wanted drinks. We got beers, and decided we probably wouldnt get food, as the restaurant was now closing in 40 minutes. She continued closing duties and after a long while, asked if we were getting food. We said no, paid and left, and I havent been back since. She acted like we were a nuisance and ignored us almost the whole time we were there.
The po boy was lack luster in flavor bbut the jambalaya was nice. They serve a nice bread with butter that looks like it should taste seasoned but just tastes like butter. Drinks were not short on alcohol which I was completely fine with. Waitresses were excellent and very friendly. Overall not a bad experience. I just wish I was a little more wow-ed by the food
This restaurant draws you in and has a great Ambiance very nice Decor, the servers are very welcoming, but our food on the other hand was slightly tasteless. Definitely needs flavor and seasoning. Everything looked great, but didnt taste as great & caused one of my guests a stomach ache. No one cleaned their plate.
I love the food an atmosphere. I have always loved this place. Went to New Orleans recently for the first time. Couldnt wait to get home to come to Jazz. However, had dinner tonight and had the worst service ever. Josh is a nice guy but SLOW at everything. Taking the order. Never came by to ask how the good was. Our drinks went dry. This should never happen.I rarely stiff any server on tips because I know they depend on them. BUT, Im not paying for what I didnt get.
We went on Wednesday when they had 50 cent wings. They were large and plump!I had the sampler with what seemed like all the sides. I thought it was mediocre aside from one item.I liked what my friends ordered more. The seafood pasta dish she got was fantastic. The alligator bites pretty good. Its on my return to list.
Great consistency of high quality flavors across the menu. Great range by the chef! I want to explore all their offerings. The restaurant has a great ambiance. We loved the live music. The food stands on its own though, and everything else is just a bonus.
Great atmosphere. Delicious food. Friendly staff. Excellent drinks. Perfect mood setting music.
Im not sure what the raves are about this place. 1st and last time dining here. The only thing good here was oysters. The food was mediocre and the service was horrible.... forgot about us for over an hour, meanwhile seating several dozen people. Finally seated the 4 of us and gave us 3 menus and no silverware. Took our drink order and only brought half of the drinks. A waitress from another tabe finally brought the drink 30 min later. The bill arrives with a gloating waitress acting like she did a fantastic job (ha!).... Spent $100 for 2 and left/threw out almost half our meal. Our entire group felt sick after. Not impressed.
This place is absolutely amazing. I came in for my first time today. Chris was my server. He was fantastic and made great recommendations. His pace of service was on point too. My food was delivered within 4 minutes of ordering it. It was hot and you could tell it was freshly made. The portions were huge, normally when you have large portions you receive quantity over quality but the quality was great. You can tell they use good ingredients. The prices were very reasonable. They have very good lunch special deals. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was great. They were playing classic rock while I was there which was awesome! Over all great experience. I will definitely be back. I also left some menus at the hotel our company stays at. This place made our top list for our co workers to do on layovers which is over 5k employees. Thanks again!
Very please with the service, atmosphere and best of all...the FOOD! We went early on a Friday, so we didnt get to take advantage of the live music, but we did get to see them set up a bit. Like I said, the service was excellent, and the food was fantastic! We used to live in Louisiana, and Jazz doesnt disappoint! We used a Groupon, which totally sweetened the deal, but I know we will be back for more! Oh, and if you are looking for a good selection of local beers on tap, this is also the place!
