Place d'Armes, 78000 Versailles, France, Versailles
Huge 17th-century ornamental palace gardens, with orange trees & canals, statues & fountains.
Huge and beautiful garden. I would expect more places where you can sit and relax. But otherwise it was really nice. With the app you have free audioguide and map too.Squirrels! There are squirrels in the garden 🥰🤗There are 3 restaurants inside the garden, but there are too many people and you need to wait almost an hour in the line.
Absolutely stunning but would take several visits to see it all
A MUST DO ACTIVITY!!! I had a wonderful experience with a group through a tour. I highly recommend getting a tour guide for this. We had a biking tour and it was the best decision ever. We were able to have a picnic in the gardens🤍
This must be the largest garden I have ever been to. The amount of maintained land that is available for the public to admire, is truly astonishing. It’s very clean and each fountain is unique.I only saw they have golf cart rentals towards the end of my visit so if you wish to enjoy more leisurely, definitely rent the carts first so you don’t feel tired.I do wish they have more seating options throughout the garden as most people are walking for hours, admiring the sculptures and fountains. They also have boat rentals that you have to row.
It isknow to be one of the most beautiful garden for a good reason 😍
100% worth the visit, wonderful rooms and gardens even on a rainy day
Nice place for a stroll. Gives one perspective of the opulent lives royalty had back in the day.Id like to point out if you want to take the train ride to get the tickets from the ticket booth and not from the obnoxious train drivers! If it was not for the gardens and everything else there I wouldnt even bother to give any rating.
We really enjoyed our tour here. It was guided and it was very interesting to learn about the history of this beautiful place. There are many things to explore in the gardens... its almost a labrinth and the fountains and sculptures make it a fun time. Do the skip the line tickets if you do not have a guide (you can often group thia with other activities at Versailles). You can also access Versailles by the high speed train from Paris... it takes about 12 minutes. And then possibly a 20 minute walk from there? Our group was on bikes and we arrived quickly.
Amazing! And wheelchair accessible (good to have an electric wheelchair)!
Beautiful and stunning gardens, you can spend a day and a half exploring them. The metro train ride and walk to the palace are enjoyable too.
Gardens are nice and you can spend few hours here, but it is not that great if most fountains are not working and you are tired and have just few spots where you can sit. Jardin des Tuileries is much better choice with better views, services and it is for free next to Louvre.
Beautiful garden, great time to spend the day but unfortunately a visit with two children plus two adults was over € 50. It is quite expensive. There are many beautiful gardens that are free. The history of the Versailles Garden is very interesting. There are also some attractions such as a restaurant and some boats that you can use for a while.
Beautiful gardens. Make sure you are not queueing for the entrance into the palais like I was. The musical gardens, well, yes it is a bit of a rip off no doubt but it is nice anyway. The gardens would have been worth paying for anyway. You can drop off your smaller bags next to the ticket office. Also you can buy tickets online on the spot to skip the queue if there is any.
So much bigger than I expected. The map route with the "must see" spots marked was really helpful. Its so big, in fact, that you can rent golf carts to get around, if you choose to. I recommend comfortable, stable, closed shoes. I wore sandals and dealt with little rocks/sand in my shoes all day. There are some spots that can get slippery or a bit hard to walk down if youre not wearing the right kind of shoes.
*Stunning* I think its the perfect word to describe this place, but you need one or two days to walk all the palace because around it you can find 15 gardens or more, forests, houses, orchards, etc. I couldnt see everything because I had a flight and I didnt want to miss it. Im going to comeback definitely! Please dont let pass the opportunity too see this place!!
Amazing gardens, especially when fountains are dancing!
Beautiful gardens but very big, need a whole day to walk through them. The E-car and bike rental is too much trouble. The mini trains had long lines, also stop running early and no way to pay with card..definitely hard to go during high summer, hard to find vendors selling water, etc…
The highlight of my holliday!Must see place if you have an afternoon to spend. Try to time it so its saturday for the show and fireworks :Worth every cent!
Mirror Pool and Orangery Parterre were the best parts of the gardens. The maze of gardens and manicured trees are nice throughout. Neptune’s Fountain was a let down. Grand Canal and the benches are a nice lunch break spot.
Went here on our first day in Paris. Very worth it!Tip: Buy your tickets in advance. A Lot of people are waiting for tickets outside.Tip 2: bring water and some snacks with you. Queue for restaurants are really long.Tip 3: wear really comfortable shoes you can walk on for 3-5 hours.Enjoy and wear your sunscreens!
Absolutely stunning. The gardens alone are worth the visit. Very glad we were able to be there while the musical fountains were on. We pleasantly surprised ourselves by staying all day. Note: pack a picnic lunch & water, as well as extra SPF & an umbrella, the sun is pleasant but strong. Look forward to visiting again in the future, its truly beautiful.
Incredible gardens best experienced in spring and summer. Often not super crowded. Somehow there was fresh squeezed orange juice being made in a random junction between paths near the water features. Just an overall wondrous other-worldly experience. Quite a place.
I was shocked that you have to pay a pretty high fee for just walking through the garden. 10 euros per person and for students 9. The gardens are nice, but not worth the fee.
Do not recommend specially for the price, very boring gardens.Very dusty, dry and monotonous.Only one "musical" fountain worked. The rest of the fountains are turned off and look like swampsSo long and monotonous roads with the same ordinary treesStaff must also be heavily underpaid for the mood that they’re in, not allowed to sit on grass to enjoy the fountain show after standing up / walking for hours. No appropriate place to sit also only a couple of benches far away from the displaysTotal disappointment
While on a 3 week vacation we were in Paris France and decide to take a tour of the Palace of Versailles. I knew this to be such an opulent Palace and it was even more amazing in person and these were only some of the 12 acres of Gardens at this magnificent palace.
Lots of walking and not enough seats in the shade. Otherwise, very impressive gardens and statues. Great burgers at the eatery in the gardens.
Extremely dull gardens and underwhelming. Central Paris has many gardens that are better kempt, hold more interest and are free.It appears that the garden are free during the autumn and winter, but charge for entry during the spring and summer (about 8 euro). They appear to justify this by promising musical gardens, which really just means that they pump classical music through speakers dotted around the place... There is no live performance. The printed guidebook, available at the venue, also promises that water features will dance in time with the music - but when I went, only one water feature danced with music while another was simply on all the time (no musicand another had no music... Moreover, the majority of the water features were not even on - so you just traipse from one bowl of tepid water to another...Furthermore, the entire upper section of the gardens were closed off as a stage was being set up - yet we still paid the full fare for entry! The gardens themselves were extremely dull. I know this is not the fault of the venue itself - it reflects how the gardens were historically - but the repetitious mathematical planting and ceaseless green with no other colour is tiresome. No texture, no interest, very little water, very little music...Toilets and cafés are few and far between. Personally, would recommend giving this one a miss.
Between the castle and the expansive grounds, you could easily spend a full day here. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and each have their own personality. I highly recommend a bike or golf cart if you can afford the added luxury, the kayaking didn’t seem to add much to the experience. To me this easily exceeded what any of the Loire Valley castles had to offer in both value and grandiosity.
I finally came to the city and the garden of Versailles. To be honest, the scenery of Versailles and the leisure and comfort of the citizens on the weekend shocked me. It was a far-off dream.
Best experience in Paris so far. Gardens very well maintained. Unique Royal French style. Musical gardens are an absolute amazing experience. You feel like youre back in the baroque times wearing those nice wigs. Accessible paths for strollers and pushcars (lift or ramps), something rare to see in Paris. Good options for a lunch break. Fountains are specially beautiful. Had a very nice time there.
If you visit Versailles then definitely go through the gardens as well. They are a magnificent display of a thoughtful and artistic outdoor environment.
When you go here, wear good walking shoes and expect to spend much longer then you think. The gardens are beautiful and huge!
The beautiful garden of the Palace versailles. Its huge and expect to walk so much to cover the entire garden. Garden is well maintained but there were no flowers or much colourful plants during our visit on mid April. We bought the combi ticket to visit both the Palace and the garden. But there are options to buy the garden ticket only. You should spend a full day here to cover both the Palace and the garden.
Beautiful gardens but definitely much prettier in the spring and summer. I visited in the early spring (beginning of Apriland there werent any flowers, and many of the plants hadnt been planted for the season yet. I would guess that the best time to come in during May or June. Also there are a few food vendors in the gardens, however they seem to run out of food throughout the day so make sure to come early otherwise you will need to leave the gardens for food.
Loved it!!! Walking through the doors of Versailles Palace and Versailles gardens was an extraordinary experience for me.If you visit Paris, please reserve a day for this objective. You can go to Versailles very easily by train.Make reservations online and do not be scared about the big queues (it moves quite rapidly).
You could get lost for days in these sprawling gardens! Truly wonderful, and If you can, spring for the golf carts!
BEAUTIFUL!! Wasnt able to see the inside because the tickets were sold out. But the garden was breathtaking to walkthru.
I adore France for its Great Love for Beauty !The park and fountains are a logical continuation of the Palace Magnificence. The only inconvenience is quite long walks on gravel paths, with an emphasis on gravel! Does modern technology really not allow you to come up with a coating that is more gentle for elegant shoes ??? Not everyone likes to walk among this Beauty in sneakers.
I honestly enjoyed the garden much more then the palace. We didn’t go to the garden until about 1700, but spent the rest of the evening wondering around the grounds taking in the beauty and stunning design. If we had gone earlier we would have loved to of rowed the boats on the canal, unfortunately it was closed when we got there.
Beautiful venue, rich with so much history. There are electric vehicles you can take up for 4 people on to get around the grounds or you are welcome to walk however the gardens are extremely vast. Simply beautiful.
The best gardens in the world! It is a wonder for all the senses! No world could describe their beauty!
Absolutely loved the gardens of the Château de Versailles. Such wide open spaces, opulent golden fountains, lovely place to walk on a dry, sunny day! 😁It is even possible to get away from the crowds in the gardens if youre lucky. The fountains seem to be on timers so if theyre not on when you get there they should come on again after a while.Make sure you pick up a map of the gardens so you can make the most of them (and not get lost! 😁)Highly recommended...
Only had time to vist the gardens. But well worth the 11 euros. Classical music playing as you walked around. Also you could hire golf buggies to get you around.
We came on a Saturday so the entrees is not free. It was 11 euro for each person but for us it was included in the 27 we pay for the place. The gardens are beautiful, and huge. I will recommend at least half a day just for them. We got a map with 2 path: a morning one and an evening one. We didn’t understand the difference but know I can say that the fountains on the path work based on the time of the specific path. So do consider visit the gardens at mid day so you can see both. Keep in mind that the fountains works only during the weekends.
The gardens of the Palace of Versailles are an impressive example of baroque garden architecture. The complex was built in 1661 on behalf of King Ludwig XIV and offers a variety of different design approaches. the entire composition is aligned with a central axis towards the castle.
Sprawling pretty manicured gardens within the estate of Versailles. We visited in the summer so could also enjoy the musical fountains. The gardens are quite huge so would suggest to keep aside some time fo visiting them after visiting the Palace. We followed one of the suggested trails and could see most of the major fountains and landmarks in a couple of hours.
A very enjoyable walk. I suggest to come to the garden as soon as it opens, you will have a nice and quiet time and youll be able to enjoy taking photos without so much people around.
The most beautiful place that i have seen in my life. Gorgeous!! I would advice to take a day just for the gardens and buy the tickets online, they will just scan them at the entrance. Take your time and visit all the gardens, just notice that one day it could be not enough. Take a walk true the forest and if you would like to realy feel like the royal family i would advice to eat at the restaurant inside the gardens, take the duck, it is unbelivable tasty. If u can not walk long distance, there is possible to rent a golf car just for €36 which would fit 4 people, but very easy to get to see all. Totaly recomend for people who would like to take rest from a busy daily life, u get realy rest in you head! Magnefique !!!
Beautiful place, spacious and impeccably maintained. You can loose yourself for days in this magnificent garden. All you need is comfortable shoes or one of the golf carts that you can rent there.
The gardens are breathtaking and the fragrance from all of the blooming flowers is heavenly! Please note that you need a separate ticket to visit the gardens vs the palace. The staff are sticklers on the ticket process. Once you enter the gardens, you can reenter only one more time. We planned our visit through the garden, to the palace, back through the gardens. Also note that specific fountains go off at different times of the day so if you are interested, plan to get near the fountain in time.If it is a hot day, you are travelling with kids, physically less mobile, or just to see more, more quickly, you can either rent a golf cart to drive through the gardens or you can hop on the little trolley bus. Neither fee is included with the ticket price.
