Rue Yves St Laurent, Marrakech 40090, Morocco, Marrakech
Garden by artist Jacques Majorelle, with exotic plants, water features & a museum of Berber culture.
Went here early in the morning, lovely vibrant botanical garden. Was underwhelmed by the range of plants, mostly made up of cacti, bamboos, and palms, but vibrancy came more from the blue and yellow hues from the villa and terraces. There was barely any signage on display to explain what it was all about, and the museum next door was closed. Considering the entry, felt short changed and was over in 50 minutes.Queues outside on exit were massive, so get here early.
Beautiful gardens, very well maintained and with a nice cafe/bar.There’s also a museum which is payed separately.Tip: the queue to the garden can get quite long, but if you go further and get a ticket for the museum you can also include the gardens and visit both skipping the main long queue for people that only would visit the garden. Ask for directions there. This is one of the most expensive attractions in Marrakech but it’s worth it.
Truly magical - one of the many gems of Morroco!Enjoy romantic views of the garden and the villa with your love ones - you will definitely leave the place with beautiful memories and wonderful photos.A true masterpiece of Yves Saint Laurent.
Gorgeous gardens but its essential to book in advance. Way too many people at the same time and almost impossible to get good photos as everyone seems to be constantly taking selfies rather than looking at the gardens.
I would say this is a must visit in a long list of museums and gardens in Marrakech. If youre only going to pick one (dont), then pick this one. Also, across the street is great shopping with designated prices. It gives you a good idea of where to start haggling when you hit the Medina in the old city. And the Berber Museum inside is AMAZING!!!!!!!!
If you visit town, this is one of the "must do" things concerning new landmarks. I highly recommend booking your visit for exact date/time online directly on their web page as the queue for both tickets and entry was insane when we were leaving (cca noon, entered at 10 am). Also would advise to include the berber museum inside the villa as its really interesting to see the tribe cultural heritage collection.
It is a really well thought out garden. I have seen all kinds of plants, from bamboo to cactus, from papyrus to date palms. I would also like to say that the toilets are very clean. The entrance fee was a bit too much. But the water I buy from the buffet at the entrance is much more expensive.
Well its a little paradise inside the city. Youll probably end up taking turn with 8 other tourists in each spot to have a picture taken. Those spots I just ignored. People dress up to go there because of YSL. Understandable of course but it takes away the whole zen thing that I hoped would be going on. The main reason I would go there is because of the wonderful, humongous CACTI! Also, I saw all sorts of plants I know from Europe appearing here as a tree somehow. :o Super beautiful!Keep in mind though: Absolutely no smoking, or trespassing the path... security is everywhere. A bit annoying at times all those walkie-talkies. But yeah just enjoy the place as you wish within the rules and youll probably enjoy the place for sure! If you want your beautiful picture... dont worry... youll get it. For me it was mostly just watching all the cacti and trees like in a zoo. Unfortunately there was no information about species of the plants. There is some life going on there as well, lots of birds, frogs, kois, insects...Price per adult 120Dr in late 2022. Its worth it I would say. Also, if you book a day before online you dont get to do the ticket line outside.
It was very beautiful but go very early in the morning to avoid queues. I went at 11am and had to queue for an hour to get my ticket. You can book online but it must be more than 24 hours before you intend to visit. The other problem is having to queue to get photos at certain spots. Also its so crowded that its hard to enjoy any peace or tranquility there. However it is stunning despite all these things and still worth a visit.
Beautiful garden which includes a small museum. It’s very expensive to get in and the museum is priced separately. It’s worth booking online and coming in early as by midday it’s heaving with people. The museum was okay but nothing to shout about, because mostly people come here to see the famous garden. You can take some great pictures, sit on the benches and just enjoy the ambience. A peaceful place to visit when you are in noisy Marrakesh.
No e place, about far from the city centre. Beautiful, but not really something impressive. Expensive 130 dihrams , 13€ its a lot for visit a garden in Marrakech. People can do beautiful pictures.
Was looking forward to seeing the famous garden in Marrakech. Lets be honest its a must-see tourist attraction because its linked to a big name. Was it worth it? Personally no, Ive been to other gardens around the world that is free, offer views, had more diversity in plant and animals. This place is something you untick from your bucket list, if you do come. We came during midday and the ticket queue was long and neverending, plus standing in the queue there are no shades to cover you from the heat and sun. If you didnt know the cost of an adult ticket before joining the queue its DH 120.The garden is only 12 acres, imagine when the place gets busy and overcrowded. You follow a path that takes you from the entrance, it takes you to pass possible the most picturesque spot of the whole garden, if your unlucky that spot have wannabe IG model posing like there is no queue waiting for them to finished, passe that spot and it will take you past a his memorial ,and goes back to the main area where you can find the gallery, the shop, and the cafe. Most of the plants are centralized toward the buildings and some part of the garden doesnt even have plants,I love my plants and it was nice to see different philodendron and cati / catus apart from the plants, architecture, design, and history, it felt more like walking to avoid bumping into people or accidentally photobombing a photo session when doing a pose. And they will strike a pose until they have enough pictures for Vogue Magazine.Tips; prebuy the ticket at least 24 hr before coming to avoid the queue.
Absolutely stunning. The colours really pop out here and the photo opportunities are vast. There is a beautiful tranquility to the place. However, its a bit smaller than expected. Youd easily get the whole place done in 45 minutes. Id recommend going early or very close to closing so that you can beat the crowds
Total Disappointment! As a tourist a followed the recommendation of tourists advise one some website, came there and found two Cactus. Sorry but okay the house is blue, and then?! We paid 12€ to walk 5 minutes around and that it. Also I was totally disappointed to see that we paid three times more than Moroccan... Is Unfair! The only positive point is that the berber museum is interesting ( Dont know if possible to do separately).
Nice and quiet garden to walk around in but there are too many visitors at any givent time. A bookstore and a gift shop as well as a coffee shop makes the visit less of a hassle. Entrance fee, however, is too much for seeing the cacati and the other plants. It is best to buy tickets in advance.
Beautiful garden in Marrakech. It is located outside the Medina. You will find a variety of plant species. If you are not passionate about plants you will see the place in around 1h. It is also a nice and fresh place to stay some time away from the heat.
This is a beautiful garden but it has some downsides. Dont take me wrong, it is a pleasant place but i find the next two things annoying:- The garden is very small, you can see the whole place in 30 minutes, even if you take photos everywhere.- The tickets are expensive. I have been in better gardens that were free to visit.Overall, it is... nice. But i think it is not worth it.
It was a dream come true to see in real life its unique and stunning garden, a vibrant contrasting colours of the building as the main attraction, gardens history is quite interesting as well. As for foreign visitors the ticket price is a bit pricey
Totally worth the visit. This is a must see in Marrakech. It’s an amazing garden with beautiful areas. We also visited the museum and stopped by the coffee place inside for a tea, I recommend the whole experience.By aware that you might get a long line to get inside and if it’s sunny, be prepared.Tickets were 120DH per adult.
I loved walking in the garden. I am fan of all plants and to see the size of some monsteras and philodendrons and cacti was very interesting and exciting. It is a bit pricey compared to some of the other attractions in the city and not as much value for money as other gardens or palaces but still enjoyable.
Beautiful garden with a very calm atmosphere. There is lots of shade to cover from the sun. The garden isnt very big but there is a lot to see. Would recommend a visit.
The selfie capital of Marrakech!Beautiful garden but it seemed most people were more interested in how the garden worked as a photo background (which it definitely did very well!). Many cool plants and especially the different varieties of cactus.
Such an enchanting garden ♥️One of the best gardens Ive encountered so far. It was very crowded but well worth the visit. Lots of nice spots to take photos of and a number of cafe and restaurant choices to have in-between visits. The plants and floras were breathtaking with lots of varieties. They made the set up so calming, with a strategically placed bench here and trellis there. I think the admission tickets were well worth the value.A must visit for sure.
Absolutely stunning botanical garden and villa, with a unique architectural and landscape style. It was created in conjunction by several artists and that is visible in the deliberate choices of design and colors. Only downside and 4 star reason: The price for tourists is extremely expensive - 15 euros for the modestly sized garden and small museum (also at least 3 times more than for locals). That is very steep for Europe, not to mention Morocco, so it’s quite a rip-off, but if you’re there, choose to visit the Berber museum and YSL museums as well. The sights are worth seeing at least once if you’re willing to pay the high tax.
Beautiful garden in a very calm area. They have different prices (Moroccan and Touristes). They offer discounts for students so do not forget to bring your ID. Taking pictures is NOT allowed in the Berber museum and that’s why I am not giving it full stars. The Berber museum includes Amazigh clothing and jewelry. I felt so bad not being able to document these artifacts. My question is why they don’t want the public to see these authentic clothes and materials?!!!
The place is very clean and full with instructions and guides. Despite the place was busy a little bit, but i felt some mutual respect between people i took my pictures freelyIt is about 30 minutes walking from the centre of Marakesh.I would definitely recommend it as one of the places to visit in Marakesh.
A great natural garden full of peace and great vibes. Th entry will cost you 11 euros per person to get access to the garden only.It is about 30 minutes walking from the centre of Marakesh.I would definitely recommend it as one of the places to visit in Marakesh.
The garden’s history is very interesting however the size that’s open for the public is quite small for the fee you’re about to pay despite it’s for YSL foundation. Also I noticed that plants’ names, origin and short definition were not there so it’s great idea to put some so people will get to read and appreciate its classification & origin. It’s nice to visit but only optional when in Marrakech.
It was beautiful but they charge tourists double. There are museums, a library, souvenir shops inside and a cafe outside. Great place for pictures but bring a hat or wear sandals as it gets really hot.
I liked this attraction. Nice garden and lovely colours.Don’t forget to walk down the road to go to the YSL museum.Watch out for the taxis outside, they’re scammers.
Peaceful oasis in Marrakech. Takes over an hour to walk around the gardens and see the Berber museum (included in the price). Wouldnt recommend getting the combined ticket for the YSL museum. Not a lot there.
Really amazing, and breathtaking place if someone like beautiful extraordinary architecture and exotic plants. Nice place to calm down a little bit, even with this much crowds which was only disadvantage. Lots of places to make photos of beautiful flora.
This garden was so beautiful but it was packed during our visit so there were so many queues to visit everywhere. They have a nice koi pond, quality museum and an amazing collection of Monstera plants.I enjoyed visiting ☺️Would definitely recommend 👌🏾
Very beautiful, if you like your colours this is the place to be! Watch out for the instagrammers! But I can see the reason amazing backdrops. Arrive early as you will be queuing a long time. A very popular attraction in Marrakesh.
This place has a great history behind it, and even though it can get crowded, there are plenty of benches available to sit and enjoy the beauty. If you go here I would recommend a combination ticket for the gardens, YSL museum and the berber museum, all have their own impressive points.
Very busy. Arrived at 10am and line was quite long. Families being ushered to the front.Lots of people taking Instagram photos (keep that in mind)The whole garden is not open to the public and would take you 15-20 to see it all.Price for entry to garden alone is 120MAD
Loved the beautiful garden and its settings. The upkeep is fantastic. Its a must visit in Marrakech. Also the Berber Museum was very informative.
Beautiful gardens and well worth a visit. Really clean, tidy and such vibrant contrasting colours. We really spent some time just sitting and appreciating the unique cactus and stunning design, but it’s fairly small so you can walk around quite quickly. Lots of photo opportunities and the small pond / lake even had little turtles. Definitely recommend if not just to see such bold and unusual colours!
I was skeptical about going but I did not regret at all. The garden though is not big is amazing. Very well maintained. You can hear birds signing and frogs croak. Adult ticket costs 120MAD and it totally worth it.The building is beautiful.
Gorgeous small garden designed by a painter in the early 1900s in Marrakech, Morocco. Later owned and maintained by Yves Saint Laurent and his partner (both are buried in the garden).Entry fee is about $12 or $13 USD. A bit high but if you enjoy lovely spaces and beautifully designed gardens you will enjoy it.There is a one way direction to the path. We went to the WC first and accidentally got going the wrong way at first so beware. The main section of the grounds is planted with a nice variety of cacti in various textures and shapes. There are blooming bougainvillea on overhead trellises that contrast nicely with the more brutal looking cactus plants. The blue painted walls are absolutely stunning. Pots (many plant filledin saturated colors such as orange, yellow, green, and blue are situated to create lovely vignettes here and there. There are several water features and comfortable benches throughout. The restrooms are clean and have fantastic tile work. There is a small coffee shop, too, though we didn’t have time to order anything. It is possible to see just the garden or add on the museum (for a higher fee). This is a popular place for school tours. It can get very crowded. We were there at about 10 am and it was already very busy.
Magical place. If theres a line, continue down the road and buy a tickrt at the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. Its worth a short visit and your ticket allows you to skip the line to the Jardin. Dont forget to visit the small but interesting Berber Museum in the gardens.
Nice garden. Not too busy with people. Even the queue is not long for buying tickets (waited for 15 minutes)You can take some very beautiful photosThe place is small, nothing so special about it, except it’s been built and designed by famous french designerIf you’re in Marrakech, you have to visit it, but don’t expect that much
The line was crowded and i was with my mom then a gentleman came and took us directly to the gate it was a nice gestureThe place is very clean and full with instructions and guides. Despite the place was busy a little bit, but i felt some mutual respect between people i took my pictures freelyDefinitely worth the price, i strongly recommend to visit it
Beautiful place.. The arrangements of the cactus or beautiful.. The vibrant colors throughout the gardens the gardens was Lovely to the eye. A must visit if you are in marakish Morocco
Wow! One of the most beautiful and special places I have ever visited. Amazingly designed. The cafe located in the garden is nice and beautiful too. excellent service
Had great time in Garden.Lots of interesting trees, cuctos, succulent like as jade plants, they so huge following by amazing weather .Also visited Berber museum which is wonderful and blessed to seems their culture and history.Had short break in café inside the garden , they are friendly with warm welcome and hospitable.
Absolutely amazing ! This blue … so pure and so complex … Frequently imitated but always incomparable. We spent a great and timeless moment in the garden. We were not alone, of course, but it didn’t create bottlenecks.cost: 12€ - expected duration: 2hStrongly recommend to make it once.
Beautiful, calm, extremely classy and elegant (as some of its patrons). Worth visiting especially if you are a Moroccan Resident. For a foreigner I find the entrance fee abusive, thats why it doesnt get 5 stars. But the pleasurable experience made us forget the initial rip off.
Beautiful garden located outside central Marrakech. Gardens taken over by Yves Saint Lauren. Highly recommend. The different plants spread out around the garden are very nice to look at. Many cacti. There is also a Berber museum on site and cafe. Nice public restrooms too. Definitely worth the price.
Nice and relaxing garden that showing us a dream came true. At first entering price feels so high for a garden but there is not a garden only and you forget the price. There are several parts in the garden but sometimes some part of the garden are closed and waiting for the crowd to open this is very odd and absurd. But I can recommend this iconic place its worth to visit.
