Sprawling nature preservation & education area with a variety of botanical displays & rock gardens.
Nature is always amazing HOWEVER it is not really worth it.Everything was closed inside "under renovation".They dont have any map and dont really guide you on where to go, where are the different areas. The Japanese one is my favorite (and long walk to get there). It is more a recreational park than a botanical garden. The train is supposed to come every 30min............well............ The lie detector said it was a lie. They dont have change but the lady at the entrance was nice and asked around. It is a pretty park but you wont see much. It is nice to take pictures (Instagram, wedding, etcbut it is not a botanical garden.
Love walking here. Some areas completely abandoned that could easily have use such as picnic area for schools
We had a blast there. Perfect for anyone: kids, couples, families, friends. If you want to explore at your own pace and just wander around, you can just walk and not take the train. We dissed the train and it was for the best, it was a great workout and we got to go in the nooks and crannies. Some parts are very jungle-ish and some other parts like the Japanese garden are just superb. I loved everything about it. The pictures do not do it justice.
Go there! Nice to spend 2-3 hours there...includes train trip and museum...
If you interested in tropical plants, best place, walk around or take the train
Great park for a stroll, the lovely sounds of nature drown out the citys stress. Well worth a walk
Went there from the town, paid for Uber and then they did not let me in as they had no change from 1000 pesos. I mean, you hand over a note of legal tender, and they can not let you in. No one was helpful, no one could change your note. Definitely not recommended. Bad attitude towards visitors.
My goto place for jogging and de-stressing
I was satisfied of my day, so much to discover 🥰❤️
Great place for walk, relax and enjoy the nature. The Japanese park is nice too
Beautiful and peaceful place to enjoy with friends and family. 🥰💗
A great adventure!! Spend time enjoying nature at its splendor. Lots of flora to observe and learn from them. The trip in the train is an awesome ride to take. There are great colonies for butterflies and diverse fauna can be found at the main core of the park. The Japanese Garden was a great place to sightsee and get to know some oriental designs gardens. Overall, is a lifetime experience for people living in DR and also from abroad. 100% approved.
Such an unexpectedly peaceful and beautiful setting in the heart of the busy chaos of Santo Domingo. I really wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did. Highly recommended. But you’ll enjoy it most of you go really early and/or save it for a (rarecloudy day.
Beautiful place to go back and have a good TBT I will recommended 100% without a doubt if your Dominican you will remember this place no matter what.
Beautiful space located in Santo Domingo, quite close to the center. Unexpected because of its size, cleanliness, a true green breathing lung in the city. The special exhibits... hit or miss. The Japanese garden was a truly beautiful space, maybe not genuinely Japanese, which would not be possible anyway due to the difference in clime, but a wide and serene space. Other exhibits we were simply unable to find, like the Mariposario. It would really help if the garden had more (and more accurate signs), including maybe duration in minutes to the various exhibits, as well as printed maps.I salute the idea of having a little train, and I am sorry I did not get to use it.The so-called museum was also a das little affair, four rooms of dusty dioramas. But I do truly appreciate the efforts of our museum guides to speak clearly and make sure us gringos could understand her. A couple other staff members spoke English and were very attentive and helpful. All in all a very pleasant if somewhat frustrating experience. But if you just go in there and stroll around, without trying too hard to find the butterfly exhibit, you are going to enjoy it very much. I am planning on going back.
Absolutely gorgeous! I visit here multiple times every time I am in town!
Beautiful, quite. A perfect place to relax and the exercise. Fresh air and a lot of trees. Overall an awesome place!!
The garden is beautiful and well kept. You can lay around. Excercise if you feel like it or just go for a stroll. The tables in the cafeteria do need a good cleaning.
Its a well thought hidden gem in the middle of Santo Domingo. Great for a stroll, picnic, photoshoot or even exercise!
Its really huuuge so we appreciate the idea to do the tour around it with a small train. Theres a guide in it so she explained the most interesting plants we were passing by. The train should go every half an hour but they wait for more people to gather so we personally waited even longer. We loved the Japanese garden and jungle-like part over a river. I dont give 5 stars just because its more arboretum to me than a garden. Trees definitely dominated the place. And two more things - the garden is so clean and well arranged so we really cant understand why the river is full of garbage. The guide said it was brought by rain but still... There are some solutions like nets or sth... I dont know, it just spoils the garden image. The last thing - I hate it when I have to pay 250% of the entrance fee just because Im a foreigner. I know there are some countries (not minewhen its normal but still I believe its unfair. I was saving money for a long time to come here and Im not a rich man just because Im not from here.
It is an Oxygen Oasis in Santo Domingo, it is better to arrive before 1 pm, it is relaxing and safe, bring water and food with you.
Great place to go with family and have a nice walk or picnic
Beautifully garden but there is some plastic trash, few toilets, signs, many areas closedThe Japanese garden is one of the nicest part to visit.Hard to reach by public transports.Better take drinks and food ...when I visited it the food store was closed and the part is so big!!
The garden was beautiful its massive though they have a neat Japaneses garden there as well though you are asked to spend no more than 20 mins there.
It is a good place to go for a picnic, a date, even to exercise. The establishment has a good space for any of the aforementioned activities and to enjoy with family and friends.
Beautiful place for family outings, weddings and just a nice walk in the natural surroundings. Very well maintained and clean, we enjoyed it. A train ride was an added bonus for our daughter. Highly recommend.
Very nice and beautiful place. Rich and vibrant tropical flora. There is also a Japanese garden, an orchid garden and a garden with tropical butterflies.
The botanical gardens is surprisingly big and very relaxing, especially the Japanese garden. Also hidden away is the cactus gardens and a mini Dominican stone henge. The train will give you a quick over site of the place but take the time afterwards to walk through it your selves.
Beautiful! Fantastic experience.PrinceAdults: 100 pesosChildren: 50 pesosIt includes a train tour + museum tourTrain tourIts great, kids love it, for adults a bit hard to keep up with the name of the trees because some of the trees dont have tags on them, but its beautiful! They make a stop at the Japanese Garden for only 10 minutes. - OMG- HEAVEN, just amazing.Museum tourIts ok. But it needs worked on, they talk about the 4 predominant biomes in The Dominican Republic. There is a butterfly garden which has an extra cost. Totally worth it! You enter a small closed spot full of butterflies, fantastically beautiful.Recommended day: Sunday
Such a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. Me and my fiancé only paid 500 pesos in total which included a trolley tour of the whole garden and a museum exhibit!
Definitely worth taking the train. Make sure to check out the Japanese garden
Well established, impressive botanical gardens. Lovely Japanese garden. Your entrance fee includes the tour on the train. Well worth visiting
While this is not the overly-manicured botanical gardens youll find in more "developed" countries, I think it more than holds its own as a beautiful urban oasis in a major city of a developing country. The birding was spectacular and the setting was peaceful. Ubered to and from the Embassy Suites with no problem and enjoyed our visit very much.
Absolutely gorgeous garden. A must see if you’re in the DR. The museum was closed but the walk through the Japanese and butterfly garden was calming and a true pleasure.
One of the best botanical gardens in the Caribbean, it also offers ‘walkers and runners’ subscriptions. The Japanese garden is worth a visit. You don’t need to take the park ‘train’ ride, everything is a nice walk away.
Great place to go for a walk and enjoy nature peacefully. I go there every time I can!
Great experience! Really nice place and service. Nothing really bad to say about the place. Great for kids, couples and family in general.
~$5 per person as of Jun18, less for locals. They take you by a small train around the area. The park is nice and well kept, especially the Japanese garden, but nothing very extraordinary. Butterfly garden was a waste of time and money though. The only entrance can be hard to find as it is not on the map: it is in the south west corner; large parking on site.
Great place to do picnic, walk, run, or just feel free on the natural environment.
Great gardens all around. Could be in better shape/maintenance but it is fine anyhow. Best area is the Japanese Garden which is peaceful and beautiful. The place is quite big, they have a little train to take you around but I would say it is better if you can walk it all since you can explore all paths this way and stay as long as you want in a garden area you might like a lot.
Absolutely Beautiful! More than what I was expecting. When buying the tickets you are allowed to have a train tour inside the garden, but personally, I think you can enjoy more walking. There’s a butterfly sanctuary that costs 25pesos, even though it’s cheap, doesn’t really worth it. The place is huge and you can’t miss the japanese garden, it’s one of the highlights!!
Great garden and way to spend a few hours in Santo Domingo. Parking is very easy and admission is only US$5 for people under 60 and free for people above 60. Train tour is included which stops at the Japanese Gardens and also the butterfly garden. There is an additional charge of 25 pesos but is worth it. We went on a really hot day and there is plenty of shade and a good breeze in the gardens.
Very beautiful! But museum smells very very old - like sovietic museums:))Nothing modern or hi-tech. It can be boring for kids, I guess. BUT - garden has a train! Its really great and worth to go there! :)
Nothing interesting. Trees, trees... Don’t recommend. The most interesting is a fountain.Costs US $5/pp.
Lovely Japanese exhibit and great trails to walk. They even have an on-site flower garden where you can purchase FLOWERS and plants for your home. Staff is friendly and its super clean but.if you dont like to walk make sure you wait for the train. Only bad thing is the best part of the garden the Japanese exhibit has a 15 minute time limit meaning you have to be in and out of it in 15 minutes. However it doesnt seem to be an enforced rule at least not the times I ve been
The Botanic Garden is stunning and peaceful, with different areas to see. You are allowed to bring your own beverages, and food. The garden has a section available for people with motor disability, so using wheelchairs to see a section of the park is a good option. There are many benches in shaded, scenic spots throughout the garden if you want to sit and rest or read.
This is where you can connect with nature but more important thing is one of those places where you can spend the day with your love ones.
Nice place to visit. Could use more excursions or tours by foot though.
Excellent, half day activity within the city of Santo Domingo. Great for persons who love nature. Here is the biggest sample of Dominican plants, trees and flowers outside their natural enviroment. They have permanent exhibits and many activities all year round. Also different walking treks. Great for relax, sports or just hang around.
It is a beautiful place inside Santo Domingo. If you like nature, you have to go there! Dont forget it!
