Quality and affordable Japanese food right outside the train station. The staff were friendly and the service was super fast. I highly recommend this place for a dinner in Yudanaka.

Amazing staff, so helpful and they spoke great English!Sushi and mixed grill for me and seafood salad for my guest. Price was good for the quality. Amazing job!

Headed here whilst skiing in Shiga Kogen, there was a shuttle service from a few pick up points and returning too; they give you about 2 hours to order and eat, which is sufficient (even had 30min to explore around the station)! Food here is quite good, well worth the trip down (around 30-40min, which you can nap in after a full day skiing and a bath!). Menu ranged from sashimi, to yakitori, to grill, to tempura, to hotpot (which we didn’t try), all quite good!

Food quality is below Japanese food standard. All the food are pre cooked and they just reheat the food whenever there’s order. The speed of the food preparation is faster than any fast food joint. The grilled tuna tasted burnt, Waygu beef is as cheesy as chewing gum, the rice is over cooked.Overall, it’s over rated. To add on, overpriced. Each cup or green tea is charged at JPY300. This is quite rare to get in any Japanese restaurant.

Goen is one of the best restaurants in Yudanaka. Delicious fish, ramen, drinks, and dessert. Located right next to the train station, its central and easy to access. I especially enjoyed the salmon sashimi and the coffee jelly parfait

We had a lovely driver who was excellent help to us. At the restaurant we were greeted to a beautiful traditional japanese restaurant with polite and thoughtful staff and delicious fresh food.The mega gin and tonic and great selection of sake gave us a great time.Definitely reccomend!

I had some Maki sushi and a creme brulee, both of which were delicious and the wait staff was super friendly.

Holey smokes.Its just sooo good. The owner of Biyunoyado recommended this place right outside the station. Its truly phenomenal. I recommend the cold sesame soba. The chashu and dipping sauce were perfect. As was the egg.You should also get the "cheese fries" which are actually wedges of cheese deep-fried. The sushi was stupendous as well. I really cant praise this place enough. Also the pricing is more than generous.

We went for dinner in October. Not too busy. Average food and good service.The restaurant has a good variety of Japanese style dishes. It is mainly seafood and chicken. Try the local Plum Wine 😀

Good and affordable food. I had a vegetable curry which tasted pretty good, nothing complain. They also serve some kind of special noodles but didnt feel like it. Maybe next time if I happen to be in the neighborhood :They have both inside and outside dining with heaters on their terrace. Btw they mention mayonnaise in the menu with some of their dishes. This is just a little bit on the salad (nothing elseand you can also ask them to not add it. FYI; there is a button on the tables outside which you can use to call the waiter.

Great service and food. The interior looks new and trendy. Our dinner was great. The menu has tons of options. Try the apple pie made with local famous apples for dessert.

Great place near station, probably the best around. They have a big variety of Japanese food so it should please everyone. Interior is modern and spacious for Japanese standards. They also have a free parking about 70m away (tight so be careful). Staff speaks very good English and everyone is friendly so it was easy to order and enjoy the good food. (Tempura was excellent)

Tasty food, very good service and warmth inside

This restaurant is beautiful and very warm and cozy. We had Ramen, fried chicken and french fries all of it was delicious! The servers were very friendly and helpful and let us know about a hot springs football right behind the train station to go and relax after dinner. We would definitely eat here again.

Reviewing at the restaurant because this place is so so good! Came here on a snowy night and got the chefs choice sushi, chicken skin skewers, beef skewers, soba ramen, scallops and mushrooms with cheese. Fantastic!

Very nice chefs choice nigiri sushi.

Right outside the Yudanaka station, this little noodle and rice bowl dinner was the perfect answer to a mid day lunch while we waited to check in to one of the towns local ryokans.We both had a great pork and rice bowl along with a tangy side salad. The drink options was plentiful as well and I had a fizzy pineapple soda that I would love to have more of.

Delicious! Tried the sushi and the grilled meats. Both were fantastic. Visit the Onsen across the train tracks before your meal for the perfect combo.

We came here with a tour guide. We had a salad, soba and the sashimi with rice. Every part of meal was delicious! I would definitely come back here again!The local apple juice was very yummy too!

We visited for dinner, and were not disappointed with the quality or service, some dishes tasted amazing and other where normal.But overall well worth it while staying nearby.

Food was good but portions were a bit small and was a little expensive compared to other meals we had in the area. Delicious chicken tempura though! Service was very good.

Our tour took us here for our lunch (after visiting the snow monkeys). Pleasantly surprised at the amount of food (salad, tempura, sobu and dessertand the quality. An excellent meal - don’t pass this by.

Beautifully plated food in a nice restaurant. Smoking section is separate. Easy spot to find on the way to Jigokudani park. English menu available and lots of vegetarian options.

This is the restaurant that situated right next to the station. I would say it’s the most modern two storey building in that area and they accept credit card (Yay!!)We ordered soba noodle, tempura and some sushi. Price and portion wise, it’s a bit expensive than the rest of the restaurant around here but taste wise- it’s good!! And don’t miss the dessert! The matcha tiramisu is Superb!!

The food was amazing and the prices were decent. Their English was pretty decent. If youre passing through Yudanaka, I highly recommend this place. Also, be sure to try the Matcha Latte. Its pretty addicting.

Great experience! Experience the lunch menu, a few veggie side dishes and soba as a main dish for sure Veggie friendly! And catered to English very well! Not sure what the dinner menu was like but if its anything like the lunch menu there will be options for sure! Also followed the other reviews idea and went on the other side of the train station to the onsen, great idea!! Hope you enjoy!Ciao

Fantastic food at a reasonable price. Fresh and exciting menu with great, although somewhat ditsy, service. Had a minor problem with an order, resolved within a minute. Favorite place in Yudanaka!

The Yakitori was yummy, especially the chicken thigh and apple wrapped with pork. The soba was great as well. Had both hot and cold soba. The cold one has a nice dipping sauce, while the hot one has a tasty fish broth. I would highly recommend for those coming back from the Snow Monkey Park. Convenient location, right next to Yudanaka station. Can just simple dine and jump on the train right after. Also, there is a street nearby with stunning lookouts to the mountains.

Food is reasonably priced. Staff is so friendly and unobtrusive. Just ting the bell when you need something. Several of the staff speak english fluently. Conveniently located near the taxi stand, bus stop and train station.

A bit pricy but the food is always good, they accommodate vegetarians (even when its not on the menu sometimesthe staff is nice, helpful and always tries his best in English. Greatly located just in front of the station, parking near by, very cozy atmosphere, I always try to stop there when on my way back to Nagano.

Nice vegetarian options here. Always struggling to find vegetables in Japan. I came away feeling full but I ordered 4 dishes so it wasnt cheap. I had tempura veg, avocado and seaweed, veg sushi and chips. All tasted fresh and the beer was good!

Fine Japanese restaurant right in front of train station. Food is tasty, price is reasonable. You can have salad as much as you want at ¥480. Accept credit card.

Food was good, and tasty. Staff was nice, but Ive never had a beer that tasted as flat as their suggestion. Overall good place to eat, but I wouldnt recommend for drinks.

Great food and nice terrace seating for when its not too hot or too cold. Timing it just right with the train is not a good idea though, a lot of others seem to do so and you might get rushed in eating because of dozens of orders at the same time.
