Very spacious Masjid, so peaceful. Love to offer prayer whenever possible
Jamia Masjid is the oldest mosque in Hong Kong. Located in Shelley St., it was built on donations from South Asian Muslims. It is unfortunate that sorrounding areas cannot be developed due to ongoing litigation. The masjid is a heritage site and is part of the landmarks of this area accessible through the midlevels escalator.
Quiet relaxing place and the Architecture of this mosque is pretty old which is good for History subject students learn alot from it and it definitely worth a visit
historical mosque
A serene place to pray in the mid levels. I was amazed to discover this old mosque in the middle of the mountain yet amongst the tall HK buildings. Very quite and peaceful place to offer ones prayers. Great views of the HK central too.
Its a beautiful mosque and its really serene and peaceful. The people are really nice too and it makes it an excellent place to visit.
A more than 100 year old Mosque in Hong Kong.
Really peacefull and tranquil place in heart of HK.
Classic architecture
When I went there today, there’s no one in the mosque, not even a single person. Then a non-Chinese elderly person walk near me and questioned me about why I’m there. He kicked me out and the experience is not that good. :(
Its an historical landmark that stands on a lushly vegetated acre of land that is home to a unique squatter community. Its a testament to the long history of Muslims in Hong Kong. And its a retreat from the crush of city life where anyone, Muslim or not, is welcome. A mosque has stood on Shelley Street since 1850
A Historical Masjid. Built in 1890 AD.
One of the oldest mosques of Hong Kong
There is available a water refill, but the access to that place a little bit tiring
Historic place. Still intact in its original shape. It doesnt give you a feeling that you are in Hong Kong. In a fast pace of life, time gets frozen here.
I LOVE THIS PLACE BECAUSE I CAN PRAY HERE AND ITS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE
Very old but convenient place of worship. Very peaceful.
Very quiet, more of a traditional mosque ...lovely to see the young kids learning Islam from the teenagers...
Located in the mid levels next to the escalators this old mosque has ambience of its own.
Didnt get to go inside at it was closed at night past 10pm. Was centrally located right on the strip of the longest escalator. Looked like a part of history, makes you think and wonder how work was done at that time when the world was so different.
Oldest Mosque in Hong Kong. Its a heritage, for every Muslim to visit there and have 2 rakt prayer would be good.

Amazing Sunni mosque with a beautiful history. A very straight walk from the Central station. Its high on a mountain but the set of escalators take you all the way from the Central station to the door of the mosque.
Historic mosque built by Indian, caters affectionately to all.
You wouldnt find much mosques in HK yet thank God for this one
What a nice masjed a worship place in the heard of hong kong.
Here you will find a delightful Neoclassical mosque nestling in a rustic, although rather rundown, enclave at the top of a meandering stone staircase.Apart from the mosque itself, with its quaint minarets, there are a number of other buildings around. What is surprising is the amount of open space there is. The mature vegetation also keeps the noise of the city at bay, which makes it a good place for a rest stop.
This iconic mosque is located in a peaceful environment, far from the chaos of the city yet easy to access (because of the longest escalator).
An beautifully weathered building. Open to respectful visitors and they have water for those willing to stop by for conversation or a pamphlet or two.
AlhamdulillahThe oldest Masjid in HK.Peace Peace Peace.
One of the iconic buildings in Hong Kong, Jamia Masjid on Shelly street is the oldest mosque in the city.Easily accessible via mid levels escalators, the building stands out in the midst of high rises.
This place is full of PeacePeople feel comfortable hereEveryone is welcomed to have visit here
A getaway from the hustle and bustle of the busy Hong Kong streets where people all seem to be in such a rush. Once inside you wouldnt believe that just a few steps outside is a rush of hundreds of people pushing their way through the streets in different directions. Definitely my happy place amidst the gloom of materialism.
The mosque located at high land, can be reached by walking only. but luckyly There is outdoor escalator to reach this mosque. The mosque is quite old, many people come during ramadhan and eid al fitr. there is pakistanese family stay nearby the mosque.
This is the first mosque in Hong Kong. According to the official records at Antiquities and Monuments Office the Muslim Mosque known as Lascar temple was built in 1849. All other records pertaining to the Mosque were destroyed during the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong during World War II (1939-1945). However, it is a fact that Muslim troops of the Indian Army, forming a large portion of Hong Kong’s garrison, arrived in Hong Kong in 1842. Some Muslim businessmen from India, Shanghai and other areas arrived soon afterwards. An indenture note issued by the Supreme Court of Hong Kong on 23rd September, 1850 states that the Jamia Mosque land was officially registered in 1850 and the Incorporated Trustees of the Islamic Community Fund also formed in 1850 became its management organization. The Mosque is of rectangular shape with an arched main entrance and arched windows of Arabic style on all sides. Extension of the Mosque took place in 1915, and the pillar was retained.
Spacious, clean and airy. Well kept mosque. Lots of religious teaching and training here. Have library of islamic books for all to learn more about Islam. Phamplets are also given from time to time. Very active esp during fasting month. The jemaah are from all sort of life and nationality.
Serene.. lots of free reading materials to take home.
