Jamavar in Batouri
Description
Privilege
Everything was impeccable from the warm and accommodating greeting to the goodbye at the end. The melange of flavors and spices was every bit as good as to be found in Delhi, yet to accommodate my desire for pimenté, a small amount of curry was added to my plate so that I could find the exact desired level. I’ve tried most other Indian restaurants in London that have earned Michelin stars but Jamavar is the one that hit on all notes.
MoreExcellent experience here. My family went as a group of 10 for mine and my fiancée’s engagement dinner and it was the perfect place. Delicious food, lovely decor, great staff. We had three vegans and four vegetarians in our group - there was a delicious vegan menu. Particular thanks to Ruben who made the experience wonderful. I highly recommend for a special occasion - we all loved it.
MoreHad a fantastic experience for my birthday the staff and manager where extremely attentive. The manager helped with food allergies and made sure we were all catered for. Was given a beautiful complimentary sweet plate for my birthday. Soft shell crab to start was so tasty. Malvani prawn curry for main was sublime! Mango rasmalai for dessert was amazing. Malabar potatoes are to die for! The whole evening was fantastic start to finish, we loved every minute. Felt like a VIP all night. We will definitely be back! The atmosphere, music and decor are all top notch! We couldnt fault a single thing. Thanks to all the staff who served us for incredible service. And compliments to the chefs who created the best food weve ever had!
MoreI really enjoyed visiting here for my moms birthday. Went for the set menu and all the courses were very tasty and had an authentic indian cuisine taste. I especially liked the chicken tikka and butter chicken. The staff was also really nice and sweet. Would definitely want to visit again.
MoreExcellent food, service, and atmosphere. Went here for dinner and was honestly one of the best meals I have had in London. The menu has the traditional and well prepared British Indian staples, but also a strong complement of lesser known dishes; primarily from Northern India.Prices were reasonable for Mayfair and the dining room had a very upscale Indian atmosphere. The staff were attentive and cognizant of a show time that we had after dinner.Recommend the tasting menu if you have some time and money.
MoreDelicious food and great service. Worth a try for a michelin star. Good value for the lunch menu.
MoreFood was authentic and decor was well done (probably one of the best amongst the Indian Michelin * restaurants). Prawns and stone bass were surprisingly delicious - cooked to perfection with well complimented seasoning, sauces and sides. One star being docked mainly because the mains (butter chicken and kid goatwere nothing to wow about. I had better butter chicken at mom and pop shops that aren’t even close to being recommended by the Michelin guide.Otherwise service was decent and atmosphere was perfect for a weekend lunch.Still worth a visit if you’re around the area, if anything - for the amazing starters.
MoreAmazing experience. The food was exquisite. Service was excellent. Highly recommend
MoreLOVED it. Beautiful interior, great service, delicious food. Not cheap, but worth ist. They have a special jain, vegan and gf food, and all was fantastic
MoreAbsolutely loved our experience at Jamavar, one of our top all time dining experiences. Every single dish was exquisite (I particularly recommend the lobster nerulli and the sorbet dessert), service was very good (polite, informative, attentive). I would be very hard pressed to fault the experience. In terms of price obviously it is a very expensive restaurant, however not more than I had expected and I did not feel it was unreasonable for the experience.
MoreTHE BEST Indian food. THE BEST service. Truly a Michelin star experience! We had a great time celebrating with family! This restaurant is a must-go in London( IMO)! Cocktail menu is innovative and unique. We chose the six course dinner menu and that was the best way to enjoy Chef Mohans creations! He is a humble soul and such a down to earth person. We had the opportunity to say hello and chat for a few minutes. The restaurant was busy and staff was all cheerful and so inviting! Truly a wonderful experience. Cant wait to visit again on our next London trip! THANK YOU Jamavar for your wonderful hospitality, the true Indian way! Big Thank you to all our servers without whom we couldnt have had such an amazing time! Thank you to the wonderful doorman who went and grabbed us a taxi, without us asking, as we were chatting with the Chef! Keep up the great work! ❤️ 💕
MoreBusy but yet intimate atmosphere. We had a great time there: the service was cordial, interesting menu, tasty food and quite generous portions. Excellent indian restaurant.
MoreFirst, the positives - The service is excellent, the ambience is fantastic, and the food is perfectly plated at all times. The initial impression certainly is great! We did the tasting menu and the appetizers and drinks were excellent. However, the main course and desserts were a huge let down. The yellow dal and palak paneer were bland and lacked flavor, the desserts had an odd, bitter aftertaste. The overall experience was nice but we had higher expectations, and Jamavar fell short of making it a memorable experience for us.
MoreSo I had the tasting menu. The fiirst few courses were good. Then, oh my god, the stonebass course took it to the michelin level. But then thats where it ended. The mango dessert was poisoned with cardemon and was quite frankly inedible. Once more our super effienent waiter (Francodisapeared as the place got busier and suddenly was replaced by a manager who introduced but did not produce. Attention to detail is what Michelin Stars are built on . But I am afraid this place is resting on its cultural laurals.
MoreBeautiful and delicious! Try the spring garden drink, stone bass tikka and aloo gobi in particular. Mild was mild but still packed with flavor. Great location too.
MoreI dont really know much about Indiancuisine, but I have to say this one was an experience.Bonus: an actual wine list.
MoreWent for dinner at Jamavar. The restaurant is located in a nice area in London and the decor inside is beautiful. I had the ginger mango mule cocktail which was very fresh and tasty. For starters we had the chandni chowk ki aloo tikki and the malabar prawns. Both were amazing. The prawns are a bit spicy so avoid it if you can’t handle heat. For mains we had the adraki lamb chops and Jamavar dal. The chops were good but really expensive. The cut of meat is great but lacked a bit of flavour. The best part was the dessert. We had the burnt mango tart and oh my word that was amazing. The consistency of the tart is so delicate and smooth. And the mango used is sweet and tasty. It was delicious!Everything is a bit on the pricey side so keep this in mind when you go here. The service is excellent and the staff are very attentive. Definitely worth a visit!
MoreJamavar was on our bucket list even before covid, but that time never came to try it out. So we celebrated our Son’s 16th birthday in here and Jamavar was truly a delightful experience.Deepak and his team made sure to make our experience delectable in terms of food as well as service. We had tried almost everything that was vegetarian on menu and we loved every bitStarters we took aloo ki chaat, makai palak ke goolar. In mains we hadgucchi lababdar, kofta, dal tadkab, dal makhani, palak panner alongwith dum tarkari biryani. In desserts we had winter berries rasmalai, rhubarb chuski falooda and valrhona chocolateWe loved everything, makai palak goolar, kofta, palak paneer, breads and desserts were showstopper.I would highly recommend Jamavar tp celebrate that special day for that delectable experience.
MoreWe went for lunch at Jamavar I have to say it was really good experience. Their manager Deepak Dubey really looked after us. The staff were very pleasant. We opted for the set lunch menu and the suggestions by Deepak were really good. Tried their Royal Blush cocktail with was the best cocktail ever. Even though my husband didnt want the dessert Deppak offered my husband to try the dessert of his choice "falooda" which was really nice .Would definitely go back there again.
MoreThis is the best restaurant in the city! The quality of food is worth every penny.Mouth watering flavor, ambience is amazing, very friendly and humble staff.A must visit.Only suggestion is masala tea was not good and could have been better! It wasnt well flavoured! Additionally, the quality of milk (seems like its prepared using milk powderwasnt good. Compared to quality of food, tea could have been better.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
MoreIn a city filled with excellent Indian restaurants, Jamavar continues to set a very high standard that make repeat visits worthwhile. The menu incorporates many well loved classics but works with excellent British produce to nonetheless provide some really unique culinary experiences. Seasonal menus (mango season is a special treatare particularly appreciated, and some classics like the tandoori stone bass should be sampled repeatedly. Service is truly excellent and adds to the overall pleasure of the experience. Recommended.
MoreThis rating is not for the food. We all think food was excellent and no doubts, recommended. The star is for the service. As soon as the menus were given, wanted to take order. No drinks order and we did get a bottle of wine but did not get the 2nd one (see later). Food arrived timely and delicious. As soon as were done with the mains, I was the host, I excused myself to go to the restroom and when I returned - my guests were given the bill!! That is very embarrassing and unprofessional conduct. We are not given option for desserts, which we did order and again delicious (see photos). Was going to order another bottle of wine when the server without us asking him brought the bill and said “we need the table” when there was no crowd outside (11pmand 3 other tables were empty! Need serious staff training in catering!! Not a way to treat customers.
MoreI went with my friends on the recommendation of one of my colleague. And it was at par with the expectation.. The restaurant was beautiful and the food was amazing and the staff were very polite during the service. Typical Indian cuisine. Will come again soon.
MoreFood was great, service was friendly but painfully slow. The interior is comfortable and nice. The biggest problem by miles is why would you ever chose to go unless Gymkhana was fully booked? Thats not really a criticism. But it isnt as good.
MoreWhat a place to celebrate my Birthday Lunch!Jamavar, a Michelin starred restaurant, pays homage to the royal cuisines of palatial India. They did great justice, I must say.We started off with a Lychee cooler on a proper Summer afternoon in London. The Malai Stone Bass Tikka, and the Tulsi Chicken Tikka were delectable and exquisite. For the Mains, we opted for the Malvani Prawn Curry 😘, Sindhi Methi Goat, Dhungar Dal, Palau Paneer, Basmati Rice and Bread Basket. The showstopper of the day were the signature Kesar Mango Rasmalai and Rhubarb Chuski Falooda. Then comes a surprise birthday cake from the Jamavar team.Nicely located in Mayfair within a beautiful property, takes you back to the past days of architectural marvels.
MoreCame here upon the recommendation of a colleague that works nearby. The place looks absolutely stunning from the moment the curtain opens. The lavish decor helps set mood for what is going to be a delectable meal. The waiters are very helpful and will help guide you through the menu with relative ease. We came while the early bird special was still being offered (I believe before 630pmand this provided us with the best value as we could sample everything on the menu with 3 people. The food was phenomenal, hands down some of the best Indian food Ive had outside of India. We will definitely be recommending this restaurant to friends and family visiting London.
MoreExcellent food! The lamb chops were juicy and perfectly cooked. The pistachio milk cake is a balanced dessert to top it off. Service was good, but a bit slow at clearing plates off the tables -- we had to ask a few times to get rid of empty plates. Overall a great experience.
MoreExceeded expectations, every dish was packed with flavour and extremely well-executed - the chicken tikka for example melted in the mouth. The lunchtime/early evening tasting menu is great value, and was more than enough to satisfy this very hungry diner.Highlights were the starters and tandoori dishes (especially the stone bass), but the curries were also very good. Didnt think I could manage a dessert, but they forced a complementary one on me anyway as it was my birthday, which was a fantastic touch (and absolutely delicious). The cocktails are well worth delving into, even the virgin ones were great.
MoreSweet touch on picking up my note that I had left with my reservation and arranging a complementary cake / dessert for my Mum - since we were there to celebrate Mothering Sunday! She was overjoyed. Mateo and the Indian gentlemen (should’ve asked his name - my bad!who served us all evening were just so amiable and hospitable. Lovely experience. And the food - well it was incredibly delicious! An evening well spent! Cheers, Jamavar team. Surely making another reservation very soon!
MoreFood is delicious, me and my wife had the testing menu and everything was amazing. Also the service was beyond expectations.Unfortunately I cannot give 5 stars due to the way we have been treated at our arrive. We arrived 35 min before last kitchen order, and there were plenty of free tables but we has been told that they were fully booked. I just walk outside and book a table through Google, and 5 minutes later I was sitting waiting for two fabulous drinks! Very unprofessional rude receptionist.
MoreUnquestionably delicious food, but sadly they seemed more interested in fulfilling their Just Eat etc orders than dealing with their seated customers. We counted 20+ orders go out as we waited 50 minutes for our mains.Such a shame as if theyd nailed the service it would have been a great night.
MoreEverything is extremely perfect. Check out their seabass curry, crispy skin texture combined with the curry Mind blowing experience.
MoreHad the set lunch menu (it seemed a good option as I’m vegetarian and my partner is notLoved the starters. Paneer was the best that I have had so far in london. The price was reasonable considering the quality and quantity. We were very full at the end of the meal. The rasmalai dessert was a pleasant surprise (and I highly recommend it)
MoreI came here for dinner with a friend, it was an underwhelming experience. Food is nice but not worth the price and not what I was expecting from a restaurant of this calibre, I have had butter chickens and biryanis in plenty of places that tasted the same or better for much cheaper. What was also odd was the staff member who seated us pulled out my friends seat but not mine, he also opened up her menu for her but just handed me mine without opening it. I am not fussed about having my menu opened or seat pulled out for me, but I do not understand the different treatment of guests who are seated at the same table. All the other staff were friendly, and service was quick and good.
MoreWe arrived almost 10 minutes before our booking time to be told our table was not ready and there is only room for two people at the bar which at the time was already occupied by another couple also waiting for there table. So our options were to wait outside but we decided to return to our car as it was freezing outside. When we returned our table was still not available but we were lucky! enough to be seated at the bar until our table was ready 25 minutes after our original booking time. Once seated we then watched others be seated and attended to straight away while we waited for a further 15 minutes before our order was taken. Once our food came it was nice but lukewarm. The staff were friendly, the restaurant looks great but sadly theres something unwelcoming about the place and for that reason we would not return.
MoreThe food was lovely, the place beautiful and cosy. But the service WOW it was perfection. Everyone was so nice and attentive to our table and everyone around. This place is perfect for curry lovers.Thank you very much for your great service and beautiful food.
MoreLoved my lunch at Jamavar. I did the four course lunch option which was very reasonably priced. Special mentions for the tulsi chicken tikka and the berry rasmalai dessert which were both incredible. However, the third course in the lunch menu is far too much for one person. Thali sized portions would be best in order to reduce waste (the restaurant kindly packed leftovers for me). Overall the food and ambience were great and the staff were nice.Note to the restaurant - I initially thought the restaurant was closed for a private event because curtains were drawn and I couldnt get the door open. Even the hostess struggled to open it which isnt the best first impression to make...
MoreThe lamb shank and palak paneer I got was good. The biryani my friend got was totally bland and barely had any meat in it. The pistachio milk cake was the highlight of the meal. It’s also quite loud in there so it’s not the sort of place you should go to if you want to be able to hear the person sitting opposite you speak.
MoreWhat a beautiful experience. Went for our 16th anniversary. The staff were so welcoming and warm and food was amazing. Will definitely be visiting again thank you sooo much
MoreThe place so far is quite good. I would say that the service is the highlight of our visit here. The vibe is ok, the place gets rather loud, to am extent that we needed to half shout to hear each other. The selection on the menu is fairly unique, thats another benefit of the place, an interesting fusion of modern and traditional asian food.Due to location, prices are higher than normal. If you want authentic food then this is not the place. Haleem was tasty and creamy, but its again something that doesnt shout authentic, however I guess that this is not the main purpose of this place not the clientele.Lamb chops were mediocre and the taste was leaving something to be desired, the were well cooked but the spices did not extract the flavor of the meat as much as it could have been done. The rice on another hand was perfectly cooked and tasty. The overall experience was mixed and hence three star review.
MoreVery tasty, fine dine Indian restaurant! Loved all of our dishes, great decor and ambience. Customer service was excellent, bit pricey but you’d expect that from a place like this!
MoreCelebrated our anniversary today Sunday 12 September 2021 lunch time.Service was absolutely spot on. Actually the best I have experienced in a restaurant. the manager Deepak was very efficient and ran the floor with precision. All staff were friendly and did not need prompting. The environment and the decor were really good as well. The food was really flavorful.. not too big portions but to be expected of a fine dining establishment. The chef really does know how to make the food sing.Drinks and desserts were also top notch. It is not cheap but the set menus do help keep the price reasonable. My little one was made to feel comfortable as well even though not too many people would associate fine dining restaurants being child friendly although do be mindful they dont allow children late in the evening.Nice touch was a anniversary message and cake complimentary of the restaurant which was much appreciated.Definitely will visit again for our next special occasion.Good luck to the restaurant and its team.
MoreWe had the six course tasting menu. It lived up to its expectations of Indian food with modern presentation that clean and controlled. My fav was the crab and lamb chop. What I liked was the restaurant truly Indian staff vs. from greater South Asia (nothing against anyone, just adds to the authenticity of the place). Deepak was the restaurant manager at our time. Great service!
MoreQuite a gem with some concerns on service! The food is lip smacking and absolutely delicious. The ajwain paneer, aloo tikki are so flavourful but my pick is the khattal bhel. The koftas are an absolute show stealers.Achari margarita is something you must try if you like spicy/chilli margaritas. We had to wait 20 mins for a table which we had a reservation for, but otherwise the restaurant is one my favourite Indian places in central London
MoreI had a Lovely experience in Jamavar. The service was very good with friendly staff, the atmosphere is charming, it would be great for dates! Especially at night. The food was luscious and astonishing. The prices were a bit above average, but overall it’s good
MoreFine dining Indian cuisine which feels slightly healthier than your average Indian restaurant. The food is exceptional and the service is really great! Make sure you don’t book a table for 2:30pm as the kitchen closes soon after. The lamb shank is outstanding ! @dantesboxes @thetripfeed
MoreMust visit!Delicious and authentic fine Indian cuisine - every dish was very flavourful and aromatic. Highly recommend trying one of the grilled dishes in addition to the traditional curries!Love the interior and vibe too.
MoreIf you’re in for the 3 course lunch menu deal it’s definitely worth it! Samosa chaat is gorgeous (especially since it’s hard to get “good” samosas in London). The sea bass grill and chicken grill are very flavourful. For mains a lot of people are likely to go for butter chicken since it’s a classic. However, personally I tried the dish with the kid goat and I found it to be incredible and quite authentic. It goes well with naan though I finished off the gravy with rice. Overall the taste was 4/5.For drinks my friends found the mango lassi to be pretty good, however, I believe I’ve had better lassis for cheaper. If you’re drinking wine there’s SO MANY to choose from which is a plus. Lovely service and ambience. I would recommend.
MoreTo begin, Id like to say I have never been a fan of Indian food. I absolutely love spices & love to eat spicy foods, however I was never sold on Indian food. Then I came to Jamavar. From first sip (royal blushto first bite (kid goat shami kebabI was instantly a fan.The service was impeccable. From the host, to the manager, to the waitstaff everyone was extremely attentive and helpful.Once seated, I was handed a cocktail menu to which I had the royal blush. A lovely lychee cocktail that is one of the best I have had, and I have had a good hand full of lychee cocktails.I was handed two menus, one for a tasting menu/ early bird or an a la carte. Both had great options, and the tasting menu seemed to be a solid choice however, I wanted to try things a la carte but still wanted my variety.I ordered a couple from the small plates, something from the tandoor, and a main with a side. Was it too much food for one individual? Very likely, but I wanted a taste of them all.To start I had the-Lobster Idli Sambhar which was highly recommended. This was quite tasteful and very interesting. The vegetable stew was creamy and delicious, the peppered lobster had a nice kick and the lentil cakes were soft and delightful. The next dish, hands down being one of my favorites was the-Kid goat Shami kebab. The goat kebab itself topped with the mint chutney was wonderful but what stole the show was the bone marrow sauce- I asked them to keep this on the table. It was phenomenal. From the tandoor list I ordered one item but asked them to specify to put one piece since I was one person. I went with another signature dish-Malai Stone Bass Tikka, the bass melted in your mouth just as you would hope with its crispy skin and an amazing avocado & mint chutney. Highly recommend this. The manager said from the main course a must try was the-Old Delhi Butter Chicken, so I took his advice and had this. Soft chicken, cooked to perfection with this hearty tomato and fenugreek based sauce. I accompanied this with the-Jeera Aloo side which is potato spiced with cumin and it was such a perfect combination. Absolutely loved these two.As another cocktail I had the devils caiproska and if you love passion fruit as I do you will definitely enjoy this as a refresher with all the spices youre having in your meal. They also give you a few chutney options and some crisps to start if youd like while you wait for your meal. A much enjoyable alternative to bread and butter if you ask me.The manager not only was attentive but he came and gave me a history of some of the foods I had ordered. All in all, this is a must try in London and in a beautiful location as well. Highly recommend and hope to be back soon! < as posted on yelp
MoreDecided to randomly make a booking to this place after hearing that the food was good. We went on a weekend but it would have been better if they let you order from the regular menu instead of 3 course thing. The food actually tasted good but the portion sizes were tinyyyyyyyy and there was some random lady that kept watching us for no reason which was kinda weird- if youre seeing this dont stare at random people 🙄
