Best Jamaica food I had in nj by far.... a lil pricey but still recommend

If it was a negative number that I could press it would be a negative negative -10. No seasoning..awful gravy. Mac and cheese throw it away...Please shut it down..YUK

Best jamaican oxtails in town‼️

My wife (Jamaicanhad the oxtail, rice and peas, mac and cheese, and cabbage. She gave her meal a solid 7 out of 10. I (UShad the jerk chicken and mac and cheese. I gave my meal a solid 8 out of 10. Here’s the bad part. We bought a beef patty and it was obvious it had sat all day. I can only give it a 3 out of 10. I must say out of many different Jamaican restaurants we’ve been to, and outside of being in Jamaica, this has to be the most authentic food out there. We will return. 😊

I ordered the jerk chicken, Mac and cheese, and peas and rice. 10/10 chefs kiss. Amazing food! Probably the best chicken I’ve had in town. 👌🏽

The jerk chicken is good the amount they give you is plenty. You can share if you like. The staff is very friendly

This brown stew fish is nothing I had before. Im use to the snapper with head on and bones. These were fish cutlets that was not snapper fish. No bones in sight. Rice and peas had no taste at all. No words for the Mac and Cheese. No words at all. Such a disappointment. I threw it is the trash.

Ordered jerk Clinton beef patty and baked mac and cheese. Order came it was completely wrong. I received oxtail, rice and some vegetables that to be honest they were unrecognizable.I called they said the driver went home and I would have to bring it back, so I got in the car myself and headed to the store because it was only five minutes away.So I get there and they closed without waiting for me to exchange the order. So I end up not getting my food after driving to a rough part of town only to find they locked up on me.So I get back and decided to try the oxtail. It was terrible. Looked and tasted like they ran out of all seasoning in the entire restaurant. Couldn’t even take a third bite.I move on to the rice flavorless is not a strong enough adjective it would be almost a compliment to what that rice tasted like it will haunt me for the rest of my life.Veggies didn’t look good enough to try, even though I ordered a Arizona they also put a frozen solid lemonade in the bag which was just as heavy as the full plate of food I threw out never again.

I didn’t like any of my food and I had bbq chicken, mac and cheese and rice&peas. It was all lacking flavor. Won’t be coming back.

Always good food and friendly staff. Love their juices, especially the sorrel and pineapple ginger. 👍

Oxtails are flavored good but are mostly bone and fat. If you guys think it’s ok to serve a customer a beef patty this old and nasty it makes me questions anything you serve. Lost a customer.

Last night we ordered a take-out from Jamaican Empire (located in East Trenton, between North Clinton and North Olden avenuesand we are happy to report that the food was good.The oxtail stew offered in medium and large sizes, and there is a wide variety of choices (two choices per order), from fried plantains and mac & cheese to white rice, rice and peas, or steamed vegetables). The most popular side usually served with oxtail, steamed cabbage, is served by Jamaican Empire as steamed veggies, with addition of corn and carrots.The prices are cheaper that at most of the competitors (large portion is sold for $20 through GrubHub vs $27 or $29 offered by other Jamaican restaurants in the area), the food was good, the proportion of meat and sides very decent.

Asked for jerk chicken and they give me curry chicken 😔Spanish people from Caribbean know a lot about Jamaican foodMaybe they think we all from Mexico and just eat tortillas

I ordered a oxtail platter w/ rice & peas, cabbage and plantain. A little high on the price but all of the food was really good, only thing is they didnt give me the cabbage I ordered they gave me mac n cheese but everything was delicious

Ordered the oxtail with mac and cheese and steamed vegetables. So good! That oxtail was tender and super flavorful. Loved it. The Mac and cheese was okay on its own, but paired really well with the saucy oxtail. The veggies were good too.

Great hole in the wall. Tender curried goat, nice balance in spicy beef patties, good rice and peas, good jerk chicken. Moist red velvet cake. Not too sugary. Skip the plantains.

Serve diverse Jamaican food. Very tasty and authentic. Customer service is great.Its just a front end store so no inside dining

It was Great!! When I place my order ahead its always ready when I get there & the food is nice & fresh --well cooked! They serve the best plantains--(not oily or greasy).

Food is slamming!!! Not sure if I just caught them on a good night but it was excellent. Tasted like it was straight from da yaad. Had medium oxtails with rice and peas/Mac. Had lots of sauce super tender and Mac and cheese was flavorful. Was a bit pricey but all carribean places are here. I would give a try atleast.

Food was fantastic! They had a wide variety of homemade options from Breakfast to Dessert to Drinks and Snacks. Customer service was friendly and efficient. I will most definitely be back! Woman owned ;)

The curry goat is absolutely delicious I order them every time! I did not like the plantains but that curry goat blows my mind!

I couldn’t eat it and I’m not the one to make anyone feel bad , so I didn’t take the food back. I even give them 13$ tips because I know covid 19 is really affecting the restaurants business. But I wish I had kept my money. Horrible please keep your money .... run and don’t buy

Ordered a large oxtail and got 4 oxtails of mostly fat. Lol how many do you get in a regular size then? Thankfully I was refunded by the app

I dont usually post reviews, however, I cant figure out why they only have 3 stars!! The food was authentic and so delicious! Fast service and nice portion sizes! I was extremely pleased and will be coming back!! I was slightly disappointed that they were out of rum cake but Ill just have to get that next time! :)

I ordered last week and the food wasn’t bad. I tried again today it’s beyond horrible. The portion was Extremely skimpy (mostly bonesand I don’t think ever IN LIFE have I had mac and cheese that bad. I had to throw it away. Inedible! Not sure if a different person was cooking but I won’t be ordering anymore due to the inconsistency. I was almost tempted to drive there (even tho I ordered Uber eatsand ask for a refund. It’s hard to believe any restaurant owner would send food out like that.

Not good at all. Small oxtails with very loose gravy, very dry (days old)looking Mac and cheese and the vegetables were terrible. Also very messy. Loose gravy all over the bag and outside of the container. Ill never eat here again.

Mediocrity at its finest. Jamaican food thats edible but dull. I had the jerk pork and it had a huge bone and slab of fat in it that was more than half of my portion of meat. Seriously unacceptable and lazy. Trim ya meat before cooking.

The food was excellent and is very much worthy of this 5 start review. I had the brown stew chicken, rice and beans and macaroni and cheese. The food was delicious and I highly recommend this restaurant.

My granddaughter love the oxtails and beans and rice dont forget the yams she said that she could have more oxtails with the large dinner thats words from a 9 year old basketball player ....good job Val and L 😘😘😘😘

Mediocre food and bad service make for a 2-star review. Got rice and peas, oxtail, mac and cheese, and a beef patty yesterday. Rice and peas were good (especially with the oxtail gravy on topbut everything else was just so-so or bad. The mac and cheese was the worst of all. The beef patty was a close second. Plus the oxtail were boney, like other entrees Ive had in the past, which reflects low quality meat selection.And with the service, the cashier just doesnt seem to have any engagement skills. No "hello", "good morning/afternoon", "thank you", just asks what you want and then tells you the price. Ill stick to Bamboo Grill.

Food was good, but they misinformed me about the cabbage, stating there was nothing else in it. When I get it I cant even eat it because theres corn and Im allergic to corn. Very disappointed. Cant trust this place. Im still hungry because I only ordered 2 sides I thought I could eat and turns out I can only eat one of them. There goes half of my meal and money in the trash.Their response was even more disappointing. All I got was a sorry and then phone silence. They could have at least offered a credit or something for next time, for the dish they wrongly informed me about.

Food was really good. Oxtails were well seasoned and tender. Rice and peas were great. Nice generous amount of gravy Fast service. Highly recommended.

The food was excellent! I had the red snapper with rice and beans, cabbage, and plantains. My son had the curry goat, rice & beans, and cabbage. I dont eat meat but my son loved his food everything was so flavorful and needed no extra seasoning. They also make their own juices which was also very good.

the owner is extremely friendly and kind, and my and kids and I eat there often, the oxtails are great, my family loves the brown stew chicken, and her beef patties are excellent. the portions are large and she is not stingy with the gravy. Good food

I havent had the pleasure of dining at this location but I have delivered from them with GH and I can say from my diners that their food is delicious and the owner is overly friendly nice and the place is very clean! I will definitely try some of their dishes when I have a chance😍

I took a risk and tried this place for the first time and used UBER Eats. I had the curry chicken and it had the perfect amount of spice and they were generous with the gravy. They even gave a courtesy call because they were out of beef patties and offered the chicken patties. Completely satisfied.

Okay so I order rice and peas with jerk chicken. First let me say I was never a fan of oven jerk chicken. It look more like brown stew chicken. So that was a no no for me. Now for the taste and quality. The chicken tasted ok because it had the jerk spices. The rice and peas was hard and the gravy taste weird kinda like buttery. The cabbage was not A1 either. As a Jamaican I was disappointed of the taste. A real Jamaican that grew up in Jamaica would not approve of this. I couldn’t finish the mealBecause the rice was hard and swimming in butter gravy that tasted funny. It should have been jerk sauce. Also this is my first time eating here. Have a lot of work to do flavor wise.

Jamaican empire has very good food! It’s very clean and very friendly people. The owner herself allows you to sample her food, which was very much a surprise and honor to be serve well! .Her carrot juice and Irish moss home made juice are delicious too!I also love her chicken foot soup.Please tell her Sunshine sent you and trust me ! “You”lol be back....Come on my love give her a try!

I ate here today and the food was hot and and ready to go in a couple of minutes. The peoeple were very nice,family oriented and most of all the place was clean. I will definitely be going back here. 😁 If luv caribbean cooked food check it out!!

Jamaican Empire food is excellent. I had the curry goat which was tender, cooked to perfection. The rice and cabbage was delicious as well. The restaurant is clean. The owner is very pleasant as well 5 star treatment all the way.
