Jamaica Zoo - Zoo in May Pen, Jamaica
It was a good experience, the gentleman at the animal petting was the highlight of the Zoo.However the place need fixing up a bit run down and a play area most be in operation for the kids to play.
Plenty room for improvement. But my children and I really enjoyed the petting zoo - weve been to plenty zoos and never got to experience that part.
Not that good then before but at the beginning was nice need more animals
I have a really good time at Jamaica zoo excellent customer service amazing petting session and I really enjoyed the walking tour with my tour guide Dontell I couldnt recommend him enough but I do think some of the staff need to present them self more properly
The tour guide was very knowledgeable about all the animals.
The animals at this zoo seem to be mistreated and miserable. Someone needs to rescue those poor lions.
This zoo sure knows how to entertain by letting their staff members get their finger tops bitten off by the lions. That said, the enclosures need much improvement. The cages are way too small and made of concrete. Call this karma for the lions.
Place needs shutting down. Doesn’t look after it’s animals. They look sad and unwell!!!
Wondering presentation of the animals. Great place to visit.
It was the off season, however it would make a good place for children. They had human friendly animals, however there were no spectacular animalsOn the plus side there were open spaces and children friendly play area.
A wonderful place to visit, the outside area doesn’t look too inviting once you pull up but as soon as you get in, there are a range of animals to look at. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, you get to feed the monkey, hold some of the animals and watch a mini animal show. Would go again for sure
Service is good especially giving info about the animals but there needs to be seated rest stops for patrons on the tours and more animals
It was a wholesome experience, the petting zoo was pretty neat and the rest of the tour was pretty good too.
I went there when i was in basic school, dont really remember which year tho, probaby 2012 or 2013. Here is a fun fact, never knew i was in St. Elizabeth and for all these years my stupid self always say i never went to country💀, and i even went to mobay in 2017
Loved the experience here especially with the petting zoo and the range of animals! I def recommend!
Staffs was great but the place could do with a face lift. The real estate is there for it. This could be much better. It was a great experience we had, but not much animals to see.
It was a fairly decent experience here. Animals of all sort can be seen here..to name a few the great lion and lamas are on the property. You wont be disappointed visiting this location.
Jamaica zoo is unassuming. The buildings and landscape need some TLC, especially on entering the premises. The staff however, makes you feel like you’re at a 5 ⭐️ zoo. They were professional and willing to assist you if needed. Even during a pandemic. They ensure that you are satisfied and safe.
Great place highly recommended lovely animals
The tour and petting zoo was entertaining. A nice adventure for a family especially if you have small kids.
We enjoyed the tour Sally was very knowledgeable except that she scared us with the snakes in the beginning. It rained towards the end and we all got soaked, however we stayed until the rain stopped and got to see the Kings of the Zoo. We would return after Covid and the renovations are complete along with the new animals such as Penguins and Zebras they said were coming.
I didnt like the way the lions were caged in. They are in pure concrete. Just think they could give them a space similar to the outdoors where there is grass etc while at the same time maintaining a protective barrier for visitors.
So the first part is where we took pictures with variety of animals, the staff are super friendly, especially the young lady who greeted me at the entrance, she was well spoken. The vibes was good. My tour guide was awesome too.
This place is amazing. I can see its a work in progress. But trust me when this place is finish its going to be the biggest attraction that Jamaica has to offer. They might not have a lot of animal but the interaction that they let you have with the animals is mind blowing. To anyone who would love to visit Jamaica, you must go to Jamaica zoo and experience the excitementYourself. Go and support this zoo.
Not a whole lot of animals to see but it still have all the trills and excitement for both adults and kids alike. Animal lovers will definitely love the ability to be up close to all of them as it gives you a sense of being one with nature in the wilds.
Experience over was okay. Petting Zoo section was great, the staff is friendly but not a lot of animals to see when you take the tour, at least the last time I visited.
Jamaica Zoo is the only one of its kind in St. Elizabeth. The zoo has a wide variety of animals and could do with a few more animals to make it more interesting and educational. The tours are great as person get to learn a lot about various animals. The only drawback for me was that the entrance of the zoo is not very pleasing. Driving up you wouldnt know its a business thats in operation. They need to address it.
Friendly staff. You can pet some of the animals and you are encouraged to do so as they are harmless. You get to feed some of the other animals while also learning about them and where theyre from, how fast they run, how big they get etc. There are swings and bouncy houses for children as well and refreshments are also sold there.
Staff friendly, need more variety animals, but my son really enjoyed his trip. So Im pleased. Expected price range.
The petting zoo part took up a great deal of time but was fun overall thanks to a fun group of friend and some interesting overseas visitors. This was my second time here and even though I had fun I must admit that there were more animals my first time there.
My husband and I accompanied by his friend and his family decided to visit. The zoo does not seems welcoming from the outside but we went anyways. It is a bit costly but the tour guide Sally was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the different animals that they had. I would visit again if more animals become available. Nice place to bring small children. Keep growing guys proud of you.
I decided to stop by and check this place out.1. I went with my significant other and from the gate I was told I had to leave her outside to walk inside to go and pay the admission then walk back outside to her which makes absolutely no sense.2. There were a few school trips there at the time. I informed the staff I was not apart of any of the trips and would like to just view the facilities and animals. I was told I had to wait 15 minutes for their petting show to be done which I was not interested in. I asked numerous times if I could just be assigned a tour guide since they said I needed one and was told no I had to wait on the petting show to be over and then I will be assigned out..3. Needless to say I asked for a refund and left.
Very limited amount of animals and they look dehydrated and sick. Plus the infrastructure doesnt allow for much interaction with the animal. Not a lot of attractions either. To see the animals you have to wait on a guide and they move fast from animal to animal. Animals look very skinny and sluggish in moving especially the snakes.
This is an awesome venture for persons of all ages and culture. Has Been improving over the years
Fun day
This was a lovely get away from the urban atmosphere in Kingston. The staff was courteous and the grounds of Jamaica zoo was well kept. My son in particular enjoyed the adventure. All his many questions were answered by the different tour guides and the flow at the zoo kept us both intrigued and wanting more.
My 3 yr old and 4yr old friend had a great time... Very interactive tour and or guide was knowledgeable and super friendly. we will definitely visit again
It was a great experience. Ideal for family outings
Visited the zoo on a weekday when there wasnt much crowd. Took my daughter for her birthday and it was lovely. She enjoyed herself and had an obsession with the bounce-about. She and I had the two all to ourselves. The staff was warm and friendly. My daughter had a blast and that made it a great experience for me.
Great area for large groups, family outings.
It was a fun experience, though they do not have a lot of animals. You can take photos while holding snakes, baby croc etc. There is a playground for kids. It is also beautiful and very spacious, groups could have their own entertainment i.e sports day etc.
The pre-tour show was great. The zoo could do with more animals but overall it was a great trip. Love the lions their growls were deafening. Hated that they were caged up
The place only has 12 animals and that is barely. The yellow boa looks as if he needs some care as well as the lions who are really confined and are bruised. The staff is cool but the place needs better animal facilities
This zoo offers a unique experience. The tour usually begins with the petting zoo which is fantastic! Some animals visitors get to interact and take pictures with are pythons, boa constrictors, Macaws, baby crocodiles and Iguanas. The animals are fantastic! The tour is informative and manageable for all age groups. The terrain has a gentle slope so toddlers and the elderly may be able to join in. This is suitable for large groups, school and youth trips. There are boune houses on site for children to enjoy at no additional cost. Refreshments are also sold there.
underwhelming. not a great array of animals and those that are there are kept in tiny enclosures. I really felt sorry for them.very small facility with not many amenities.Ive given it two stars purely due to the enthusiastic and professional demeanor of the staff, particularly Veneisha, who was our guide. she was great and really had a vast knowledge of all of the animals and the zoo itself. she seemed to have a great relationship with the animals too, which was a delight to see.there was also a chance to see, touch and take pictures with a couple of the animals that was facilitated by the owner that was quite unique.I hope that significant investment goes into this zoo in the future to improve the quality of life for the animals and provide a better experience for visitors.
It gives the students a little exposure of animals that they would otherwise never ever have a chance to see. Its also a calming environment and they also get to hold many of the animals on site.
Was good but more fun for the children.
Needs some work. The petting part wasnt bad but the owner needs to turn over the commentary to someone else. Lots of potential. The lions are quite majestic but they need more room to roam. Loved the Monkeys but they too need more room to play. Going to try to help the owner with some marketing. Hopes he takes the advise. This could be HUGE in a few years
They are in the early phases but the attractions are quite impressive. They have exotic and local animals and the staff is quite knowledgeable about the animals. They have a lot of plans to expand, but whats there is quite impressive.
Great fun place for the kids and Family. Fanatstic Animals to be see.
