Jalapenos Mexican Food in Nanaimo

Fast and friendly service and very tasty food, we very much enjoyed our dinner here.

I have been coming here for 5 years as of this review and have never once been disappointed, this is the best Mexican on the Island (its almost a two hour drive for me!)

This is by far the best Mexican Restaurant in Nanaimo. Feels and tastes just like home cooked meals. Miguel is an excellent chef and an amazing person.Way to go Miguel !!! 👏👏

Delicious food. Reasonable prices, some meals are good to share, nice ambiance and friendly staff. Restaurant is split into 2 sections- one side for families & the other for over 21 years. Outside patio open.

The food here is very good. Better than the food we tried at another Mexican restaurant in Nanaimo. Its a cozy little family Cafe style place. If youre on your own or just want to stop with kids or friends someplace Its good.They dont serve beer or any other alcohol and their hot sauce I found, while pretty tasty, extremely weak on the fireI would happily eat here again but its definitely not a date night place.

Delicious! We love it here. The taco buffet is temporarily not available.. 😢. Hoping it’ll be offered on weekends again soon.

Jalapeños is now a “regular visit” for us.A simple setting with delicious, authentic Mexican food. Very friendly staff and your food comes to the table, fast and fresh!Priced fairly and portions are just right.Don’t forget to order a bottle of grapefruit pop :)

You want Mexican this is the place for you. The owners are from near Guadalajara and the food, staff and decor are great! Stop by you will not be sorry.

I come every time Im in Nanaimo and make sure to get the taco buffet. The chicken tortilla soup was phenomenal this time!

The fastest order to table time Ive ever seen. I swear it less than 5 minutes before they were serving all 5 of us our meals.Super nice people. The beans are well seasoned and not dry. Simple, good Mexican fare.

If your going here. Go hungry! Cause you will definitely leave satisfied!! Super amazing food! The hot sauce to is soo good!! You can also buy it!

Best authentic Mexican food we have ever had here in Canada. Great food, great service and good prices. Love the decor. Such a cozy and quaint little restaurant. Miguel and Sylvie have really put their heart and soul into this place and it really shows. And we love being able to practice our Spanish while were enjoying a great meal.

A great, authentic Mexican restaurant run by a very kind and accommodating family.Their tacos are the best tacos in Nanaimo and arguably the whole island. Nothing comes close to the Al Pastor Tacos. They take pride in their food and it is obvious in every dish they create.If you want Mexican cuisine...look no further!

Had the enchiladas with refried beans and they were the best Ive had in years. Excellent, prompt service too. Im definitely coming back and bringing more folks.

Great little Mexican place with parking in front. Located beside a gas station but once you are inside the decor and colors help distract you from the outside view. Family run, service is personal and authentic. Weekends there is all you can eat tacos which I would recommend.Give this place a try if you are in the mood for Mexican food.

Very good food and good portions. Staff are very pleasant and friendly. It is a cafe style restaurant, small but very busy. Bathroom could use a an update.

First time eating on a local authentic Mexican restaurant. I am used to eat fast food burritos, or home made tacos using store bought seasoning. Food was different to my taste, but good.Servings are huge for one. Some food in the menu are definitely shareable.I see a lot of family with kids dining in the resto when we were there.What I love eating there is the festive atmosphere of the resto.I love supporting local.

We had heard great things about Jalapeños, and it delivered! The rumors are true! Jalapeños is heaven sent. Im originally from Southern California, and Im grateful to find such fresh and tasty Mexican food. Its authentic! The carne asada (steakis some of the best Ive had. The portions are generous. Well be regularly returning for more! Were so very thankful!

Fresh ingredients, clear vegetarian options, and outstanding flavor! Our mains were so good we opted for dessert- which was a delightful way to end a tasty meal. A new favourite for sure. Good service, serving sizes were generous and I dont think you could beat the prices!

Mmm, mmm, good! 😋I ordered the fish tacos and stole one of my daughters chicken fajitas (couldnt resist)!The chicken filling came out on a heated skillet, so the aroma was irresistible and I knew I had to have one 😋 Her serving was large enough for two people, so definitely a nice shareable dish.The salsa was probably the best salsa I had the pleasure of tasting!Service was great and we didnt wait long for our food at all. I highly recommend this place and highly recommend the 2 dishes we tried. You wont be disappointed.

Easily the best family owned Mexican restaurant on the Island! An essential stop if you are passing through Nanaimo. A personal favourite is the Tamales Plate, and the Saturday-Sunday taco buffet is exceptional.

The best Mexican restaurant in Canada, there I said it. This is real authentic cooking with reasonable prices. Ive eaten at places all over Canada and nothing comes even close to this. Any time I come to the island I will be coming here

Really flavour al pastor and shrimp molcajete! Authentic Mexican food. The portions are big and fair pricing. The location was a little bit hard to find but it’s basically close to the gas station. Will visit this place again!

Wow! This place has amazing fish tacos!! The best Ive had, and Ive had quite a few. The staff are so friendly and efficient, the food comes quickly and the tortillas are home made. Quality food. Amazing horchata. And the dudes behind me got the molcajete, they were plenty happy Ill tell you. That things HUGE! My hubby got the bistek ranchero, and he is extremely satisfied.

Take out - Taco Salad with beef. They use steak not hamburger. Shredded lettuce with guacamole & sour cream, tomatoes, peppers and mushrooms. Very fresh! Taco shell was crispy, not soggy.

I have missed this style of Mexican cooking since moving away from Texas years ago. The food reminds me of the little family restaurants in San Antonio and throughout South Texas. The carnita plate is big enough for two people (add one or two more sides of corn tortillas). Salsa was tasty. The simple but ample lettuce and tomato salad was fresh and the rice and beans were simple but tasty. The owners were friendly. From walk in order to walking out with my order was less than 10 minutes. This place is the real deal. Can not wait to try the tamales and pozole.

Delicious authentic mexican food. Aint no taco bell here. Staff are very pleasant and the portions are a good size. Their mole sauce is yummy and the refried beans have a nice pork flavor to them. Their carnitas are awesome but their carne asada is a little on the tough side (most restaurants are though).The pollo was tasty in fajitas or enchiladas. Prices are reasonable and ambience is nice. Would definitely recommend if youre in the mood for mexican.

Yummy placeIf you are around Nanaimo stop by, is a very good Mexican restaurantI had the Molcajete for 2 people and is good and with a lot of meat, chicken and shrimp, it is a little different from the standard of Molcajete but is good, comes with guacamole, pico de gallo and beans.Horcata es good too, for dessert I had the buñuelo and was good.I definitely would come back here next time I am close to Nanaimo.Service is fast and friendly.

Tried this place for lunch today and WOW! Absolutely delicious. Service was fantastic, very friendly and attentive. The food was fresh, authentic, and super tasty. Our favorite meal in Nanaimo, hands down. Highly recommend 👌

What a great little place. Excellent food for reasonable prices. Great staff and super fast service. I had the beef hard shell tacos. My only negative note was there was too much cilantro in the pico de gallo, this is a personal preference so I will know for next time. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning to check out the other gems on the menu. Great food and you wont go away hungry.

Very nice place specially for students. Yammy food and absolutely reasonable price. The quality of food is ok. It doesn’t make you wow but not bad at all. There is an offer of all u can eat for very cheap price which is a good option to try different taste of Mexican food for very reasonable price. Your order come very fast. I believe this is a family business and they are very welcoming and nice. I was there a few times and never regret.

Wow I never expected to find such a phenomenal restaurant in Nanaimo! Simple tasty and economically fantastic yet the fare is way beyond what you have paid! I could go down the street for something that’s three times more expensive and not even half as good!Wow what a gem! And the staff is so polite the service incredible and the food authentic and delicious!
