530 Ocean Dr, Miami Beach, FL 33139, United States, Miami Beach
Casual Mexican joint serving traditional eats paired with wine, beer & margaritas.
horrible place to eat. I usually go over reviews before even going to a place, but I was walking around and things were closing so this was a last minute thing , horrible. First off I ordered lemonades and they charged me $16 which regardless was horrible. The tacos I ordered too didn’t even come with cheese, I asked for more they charged me for it. DISGUSTING, don’t go here if you’re in MIA
Staff seemed very nice so I thought I would give it a try big mistake !!!! The waitress I had told me it’s happy hour (1pm Saturday and buy one get one drink free. Ordered chicken burrito and Margarita. Waitress kept pushing to get large when I only wanted a small - we settled on a medium. Burrito was bland and drink also bland . Inquired about the “ free drink” and waitress brings me bill for full charge. When I inquired she said happy hour was only on “ large drinks” which was not what she initially said . Since they already included their 20% they got away with their scam first and last time EVER
I suggest to anyone interested in eating here read the reviews. My experience at this restaurant was very uneventful. I ordered a southwest chicken taco salad in which half of the advertised ingredients were missing from my meal. When I politely brought my concerns to waiter he acted as if he was annoyed! With there being a language barrier between myself and the waiter I don’t think he ever understood my concerns for my meal. I was able to speak with someone fluent in English and they did remake my meal the correct way. The food was still very average nonetheless. My husband ordered nachos and let’s just say he was not impressed with the quantity they serve for what they charge. Here’s where it gets bad. We ordered a pineapple/mango NON-alcoholic juice in which the waiter kept pushing us to get the “buy one get one free” option. In our logic minds we’re like okay cool that’s a deal! To our surprise, once we received our ticket we were charged $45 for NON-alcoholic juice drink! Who in their right minds think 2 glasses of juice is worth $45! These waiters and this restaurant are scammers. We did speak with the owner for about 20 minutes trying to get him to understand this makes Zero sense charging people $45 for juice! Aside from being money hungry he did eventually compromise and we were rightfully charged $14 for two NON-alcoholic juice. Never ever will I recommend this place to anyone nor will I be returning. And for the waiter we had (tall Latino guy with blonde hairyou should consider having a better attitude towards future customers :)
Best fettuccini alfredo I have ever had! My mother also very much enjoyed her jalapeño hamburger. The staff were very friendly and Rafael was the best!
Worst service ever. They didnt bring the food we ordered and charged for food and drinks we didnt order or receive. Both the food and drinks were terrible. When I asked for my car the valet brought someone elses car. The servers were rude and dishonest.
Great restaurant on Ocean drive. Very pleasant service, great cuisine, huge drinks, endless happy hours :-In short, you have to try it!
Dont go here , simple as that, food was cold, paid $350 for 6 tacos and burn hot wings!!!Server didn’t give us the chance to look at the menu so he charged us a what he wanted.Be careful when ordering in this place!!
Dont believe the low reviews this place is good. 2 for 1 large drinks & the staff was very nice.
Food was okay but way overpriced. We were super hungry and sat down at the first place we saw that had an open table. We were a party of five but there is always a 20 percent tip included no matter the size of your party. We had shrimp tacos, they were okay, beef tacos and chicken tacos had little flavor, jalapeño burger was good but not spicy at alll. The beer come in lots of sizes but you pay for the cool big plastic cup not for the quality. We won’t be back but it was nice to sit on the Main Street and eat
We were served dirty water. The staff brought new water but with insects and did it with a smile. We lost our appetite. Forced to pay 20% gratuity
Nice location but thre food is OK. Calamari no flavor and we ordered spaghetti and Alfredo fettuccine taste ok.
Our server was an absolute GEM. I wish I remembered her name. Love that they included grat. No one should wait on tables for less than 20%. Margaritas are def strong
Over priced, poor quality, poor service. Be aware tip is included in cost. Dont recommend to anyone
Servers are horrible, horrible experience as a first time visitor in Miami . Then the employee starts to point at us and talking to the owner as we walk away. I wonder what they were saying.
The other reviews are right, they sell you on the buy one get one free drinks but when the bill comes that one drink costs $45.
The reason this restaurant gets to much business is because it is on the strip of south beach. You go for the ambiance. However, I ordered a breakfast sandwich that was actually very tasty, as was the mojito. The thing that sucks about this place is the slow service and the 20% service charge. They definitely don’t deserve that much of a tip. No wonder my breakfast was only $7!
Went here on a Friday for lunch. $250 for a group of 5 for the location seemed to be average. The owner was nice and came and talked to us, even gave our entire table free shots. Food was good, nothing to rave about and nothing to complain about. I also dislike when places automatically add a 20% gratuity to the bill, good service deserves more and poor service deserves less 20 is the standard. Our server was actually great and paying with a card I couldn’t even add anything to try and give her more.
Delicious, perfectly flavored and cooked lobster, crab and salmon grill. I stopped by Jalapeño Mexican Kitchen for a mojito and small appetizer, after seeing the waiter deliver this to another table…my nephew said we want one of those although we had a paid meal in the next hour with a tour package. We ordered one to share and it was the best meal we had in Miami!! The beef nachos, guacamole and salsa were also fresh and flavorful…oh yeah…the mojito was great too!
Hugh drinks and good staffs were the only positive. Foods were average at best.
This place is pretty good if you like loud music and good drinks. The tacos here are the best in my opinion and got shots on the house which was pretty good for our first time here.
Worst fish tacos Ive ever had in my life. I would trust the filet-o-fish from McDonalds over any seafood from this place. Had a terrible terrible stomach ache after eating here and wish I had read the reviews before sitting down at this place. Do not recommend at all.
Not exactly a great way to kick off our Miami vacation. Food was okay at best and overly overpriced. I’d say you pay for the ambiance and experience of eating on Ocean Drive. The mango margarita was bland same with the fettuccine alfredo pasta. The chicken was rough and dry, I will say the burger was probably the best thing here. Service was nice for the most part but they did seem to really push us to get the XL Margarita size which ran $40+. We just wanted some lunch but when we constantly kept getting asked if we’d like to try the larger Margarita it was a negative for us. For the price point I’d say there are plenty of better options to eat at other than Jalapeño Mexican Kitchen.
The food is alright but the service was a bit slow. The menu is all over the place with offerings and pricing and doesn’t really have a flow. They hand you so many papers when you arrive that it’s very confusing. They have pretty large margaritas tho!
Overpriced and the cocktails/margaritas are watered down and don’t taste good. My friend and I ordered two medium sized margaritas and they charged $80 for both plus they added 20% mandatory service fee/tip, so the bill was $96 for two margaritas. SCAMMERS! And TOURISTS TRAP!
This place has outdoor sitting on ocean aveneu! The food was average compare to price! I had ordered salad and it came only with lettus! Black beans, corns, feta cheese was missing from the salad (it was listed in the menu). We had never ordered chips and salsa, when we got the chips/salss, we thought it was complimentary, but was charged $9:00 for it. When asked host about it, she didn’t cared much! Ended up paying $80 for lunch for chicken burrito, vegetable salad and 1 margarita!
Place was really cool. Our host for our air bnb gave us a 30 percent off coupon because he owns this restaurant or something, so that was great. We had a group of nine. Was waited on quickly and our server was great. My lobster Ravioli was awesome.
Okay food, Decent drinks. Horrible service. They don’t deserve a 20% tip which they make sure to add in as a service charge then also expect an extra tip! They forgot to bring us our appetizer but made sure to charge for it. When we brought it up to the server, he was nonchalant about it. - sorry but this place needs a huge makeover top to bottom. Don’t even bother trying to use the bathroom here either 🤮
First off the service here is horrible I got a glass of water and they never gave me a refill which for a sit down restaurant is odd. I ordered sphegitti with no meat because Im vegetarian but when I got it it had two pieces of chicken in it which is disappointing to me. my family member got a side of rice and beans and it was in a tiny container it was like a spoonful of rice. They gave us chips without telling us it wasnt compliantary so we had to pay for it. The pigeons get better service by kids throwing chips, I would get better service in a dumpster with raccoons.
This place is awful. All those positive reviews are totally fake. Its not even Mexican (maybe has a few Mexican dishes, but I wouldnt call burgers and pasta dishes Mexican). The food was awful -- very bland like they had no spices in the kitchen. But there are plenty of bad food places that I wouldnt bother writing a review for. These guys though, get my time and attention because theyre jerks. They high pressure you to purchase stuff. I asked for a glass of water and got a $5 bottled water. Asked for a beer and got one of those "Miami" 35oz. plastic wine glasses of it. Yuck! Who drinks beer out of a wide open, plastic wine glass? It would be flat before I got 10 sips in. But the real eye-opener is the drinks. My kids ordered drinks and they came in those same enormous 35oz glasses. I sighed and wished theyd asked us what size we wanted, but figured that was my fault for not asking. I assumed it would be about the same price as the other places along the same street. Nope, not even close. These puppies were $45!! EACH. And to add insult to injury, they tasted so bad, my kids couldnt drink them. And lets not forget the compulsory 20% tip. What a joke! My husband complained, but they wouldnt budge. I told them I was going to write this review and so here it is. Please do not frequent this restaurant. Its insanely expensive, tastes bad, and you get bad service. Dont say I didnt warn you.
I wish we had look through reviews first. They are accurate. Food was okay. We got 3 fish tacos and 3 shrimp tacos. The fish taco had no real flavor chucks of chewy mahi and shredded iceberg lettuce a teaspoon of tomato and green-can parmigiana on top. The shrimp tacos had a little more flavor with lots of shrimp. After looking at the reviews I’m glad I didn’t get a cocktail.Over the service and food were okay but we left disappointed in our pick.
My parents walked in... They ordered 2 burritos, one coke and my dad had 2 beers on the menu ($8). They asked if he wanted in a glass. So their magic glass made the price go to $35(with 50%discount). This is a very know scam for people who left review from them. I dont understand how a place like this still have a license. Unfortunately not all people check for reviews and just walk in. Shame to Miami businesses and restaurants regulators do not act against this theifs.
Do not go here, it’s a trap! They charged us $35 dollars for a regular size beer and $45 for a cocktail. Just look at the reviews and you are gonna understand what I’m talking about. Waiters and waitresses seem to be trained to fool you. Worst place I have ever been.
The service is below average. The fried squid is awesome. The stake tacos suck, the meat went bad, that was very obvious because it was smelly, had to returned them but they did change the order for pastor tacos. The huge cocktails are amazing at 2/$45The fun part is that a photographer called Luis Angel Chicue walked by and offered his services, so we took a few group fotos. Then a guy called Dixon Parra with two amazing birds walked buy and we had the chance to interact with the birds and even snap pictures. The drinks and the vendors made the experience unforgettable! 🍹🍸🍻🦜🦜📸
I went here on 10/3/21 and had 2 drinks and 3 tacos and got charged $103.00. I inquired about the bill and they agreed that it was wrong. They told me they would refund my money but that they would have to charge me again. So I paid them an additional 74.82 and have yet to be refunded. It has now been over 2 weeks. I have called them numerous times and have gotten no answer. So I paid $178.67 for 3 tacos and a buy one get one free drink. Pretty ridiculous
This place is trash please don’t waste your time.. the food was stale af specially the rice.. the management was trash they cut the music down low.. the waiter was trash they just sat us down.. after that they ignored us.. ice they sit you down that’s it they have you.. beware don’t fall for the buy one and get one free it’s a trap
Stopped for a snack, while it was weekend night, very loud and a lot of drunk people, but we didnt mind it. Tortilla chips was fresh and sauce was amazing! Fried calamari wasnt anyhing special. But the shrimp tacos were absolutely outstanding, I just couldnt expect from this place to has fresh and juicy shrimp like that. I couldnt stop eating eventhough I wasnt that hungry. Service was nice and fast. Not the best place, but its not that bad like other people saying in reviews.
What a scam!!! For one, the service was horrible. The hostess sat us outside, but we had to ask twice for someone to take our order. This was after waiting at least 15 minutes.,when the waitress did show up we ordered two beers and the taco plates. The tacos were 13.00 each. They were good. No complaints there. But, when we got our bill it was 76.00 for a Heineken and a Modelo, and 26.00 for tacos. So $50.00 for two beers? Also beware they don’t tell you, but they add on the gratuity. So wrong!!!! Terrible service for sure. If I could I would give this restaurant a negative 5.
We thought this place would be good food. The huge margaritas and the decent amount of people sitting at the tables fooled us. My husband and I were seated and it took 10 minutes for someone to come over and get our drink order. I ordered a drink and a water. My husband ordered a coke. Waiter brings my drink, no water and no coke. Another 10 minutes goes by he finally brings my husbands coke but no water. We finally order and to our surprise we get melted velveeta for queso with stale chips that looked like they came from the gas station nacho bag, and the food was not anything like we expected. It was not good at all and like everything on Ocean Dr. the bill comes with an up charge to ensure the waiter gets a tip. Wouldn’t recommend if your looking for Mexican food.
First day in Miami though I might get some taco came across this restaurant. Was seated and waited about 20 minutes before having to ask who was our waiter. Other who came after where getting served before me. When the server finally came didn’t get the order right. I give this restaurant two stars because the food was really good but the service was horrible. For a restaurant to charge gratuity they need to fix their service. The service I give a 0 out of 5.
Initially we walked in just for the huge drinks. The waiter was really pushing on the special menu with "special" expensive prices. It was not until I turned over the menu page that we saw decent local prices for pasta, burgers, and tacos. I settled on Mahi fish tacos, where the fish was extremely dry, tasteless, and overcooked. My wife settled on a burger, which came with a freezer-burned patty and weird cheese. We did not finish not the 1st, nor the 2nd dish. The drinks were decent with more excitement coming from pictures taken of such large drinks from my wife than from the excitement of the meal itself.
GRANDE DRINKS: The drinks come in huge portions, but there was a miscommunication with the sizes which was a little disappointing. So I ended up getting a giant beer when I only wanted a regular sized one.Other than that, the food was good. Got a burrito bowl. And the service was great. Hookah was decent, not prepared the best, but did the job. Outside seating and plenty of fans and good music.
Very basic food and super over priced. Also all the restaurants on ocean drive charge a 20% tip to the bill no matter what even if one only get drinks you’ll have a 20% tip added to it. The drinks at this place is $45 for a margarita which is typical on ocean drive.
The highest price ever for lowerclass food! I love mexican food, but were not impressed! The beer tasted good, but was too expensive. The glass was big (16oz), but 25 USD!! Total price 177 USD!! (Tips not included). Never visit again.
The giant margaritas might look enticing, but it was literally just mango syrup. Did not taste any alcohol, and it was overly sweet. I actually ordered a small, but the waitress decided to bring me a large because it was "on sale for half off". Paid $29 for this mango syrup, after they added a mandatory 20% service charge. Dont waste your money here.
Good food but I really came here for the HUGE margaritas that will possibly make you leave your shoes at the restaurant (dont ask... but yes I had a backup pair of sandals).
The only reason I picked this spot over the spots nearby was the color of their seats - black ❤👏. The food was really yummy! The view was also perfect being on Ocean Drive. They didnt have some items we needed, hence the 4 stars. Neither did the spots nearby the restaurant. The waitress was kind enough to attempt to get what we needed. One, no sugar in the raw available, I settled for honey (Im picky 🤷♀️). Two, we wanted to take our coffees to go at the end of the meal, not a thing - no to go cups available.Overall, a memorable experience. Next time, I will go over to clevelander for breakfast.
Never ever go here. This place is a scam with the worst scum on the earth working there. Look at the attached receipt. They claim during happy hour you can buy one and get one free however you can clearly see nothing was given for free based on the receipt below. Furthermore, when asked how much the drinks are they claim $22 (like the computer showshowever they claim they are actually $45 which is why the subtotal is double what it should be.Overall, this place is a scam trying to steal your money. Stay away.
I tried to give this place a try..I did...total rip-off if I could give this 0 stars I would I only ordered chips and salsa, 2 soft drinks, and a small Mojito that was $17! my total bill was 47.02 paid with a $50 bill and only got $2 dollars back I had to find 2 pennies to make her give me the rest of my change instead of rounding down they rounded up and the tip was already included in the bill almost a $10 dollar tip that I would’ve never left food was more than nasty I didn’t even eat the salsa...the pic below and everything we had for that price...follow the reviews please
The kitchen is ok, nothing exceptional and a bit expensive 65$ for 2 plates of steak and frise and 2 drinks. Located on Ocean Drive, you will have the same kind of restaurants on this street with girls and boys who soliciting (botheryou to eat or drink at their restaurant.
Subpar Mexican food restaurant. I mean they dont even serve guacamole its guacamole drizzle. The only thing authentic is the waitstaff. Theyre happy hour is ridiculous. Its something like $25 per person at the table for a shared large margarita with the second one free which makes that a loss of money. Especially because I asked the waiter how much alcohol is in it and he said the equivalent of two drinks. All in all everyone is very nice and the patio, which is shared with an Italian restaurant, is airy but this restaurant did not impress me.
