Adventurous New American fare & gin cocktails in a chic space within The Duniway hotel.
After running into one of the staff here and getting a recommendation to try the Pigs Head, we ended up getting a couple of dishes. The razor clam cevecé was seasoned simply with microbeets blew my mind, and was served on what I could only describe was snow. The ham burger looked great, even if I didnt order it, and it took my family 2:47 seconds to demolish the elegante and tasty dessert. The Pigs Head reminded me of lechón, but way more tender and with a focus on the meat. It was served next to "Brain-asie" and a chimichurri sauce that paired well with the tensor cheek flesh. Sadly I forgot to ask to take the skull with me. It was a pretty bad ass way to serve a meat dish. Also, they had cheap beer next to the expensive one. Our waitress really new the menu, and the charcuterie platter was a perfect appetizer. Not gonna lie, it wasnt cheap, but it was worth ever penny. If you want to go to a place chefs and cooks pitched to us as "AMAZING!", You cant go wrong here!
Always loved going to Jackrabbit. Their dumplings won my heart over during dumpling week 2019!
ambiance 10/10service 5/10careless service. made a reservation at 8pm and came at 8pm sharp. was told that the people at our table were having dessert and it’ll be just a “few more minutes” till we get to be seated. 820pm - i asked when we get to be seated and they said they can only seat us when the full party is present - something that was not communicated 20 minutes ago when we first arrived.soups and desserts would be served without spoons and would not be given till you asked.food 8/10soup and dessert was amazing. the pork ragu was fairly average.overall, food was decent, place was beautiful, service could be improved.
I had a Burger that was fantastic!!! When the server asked me if MR was ok, I knew I was in the right place. Good Drinks too!
We came in after not being able to get a table elsewhere, not knowing anything about the restaurant. They were very accommodating, seating us in the lounge where we had full menu access and received excellent service. I got the charcoal roasted chicken and my spouse ordered the flat iron steak. Both dishes were top notch, as was the salmon belly appetizer we shared. They had us in and out in under an hour on a busy Saturday night which we appreciated since we had symphony tickets and made the dumb mistake of not making advanced reservations anywhere. We feel lucky to have found Jackrabbit and will definitely be back.
I used to be a regular here, ever since they opened. Ever since they moved their happy hour and their managment changed they have been slowly pushing out their regulars. My friend and I arrived a little before happy hour ended, not only were not seated promptly but we were not acknowledged right away. When we were finally greeted I showed them that we still had 5 minutes but were told they according to their clock it was 5 PM. We were hungry and stayed ordered off the regular menu, our server was very nice and the food was fine, just didnt like the way the older server was so dismissive.
Although the place was quite noisy, the staffs were very friendly and nice! Very attentive! We really like the Crispy Pigs Ears. Very tasty with herbs and lime! The Charcoal Roasted Chicken was very flavorful! It was amazingly delicious! With all the foods on the table, we still have room for Cast Iron Apple Pie with ice cream! Perfect dessert for the night. Yummy! 😋Service was wonderful!
Came here for a company lunch. Food is super tasty and we scarfed it all down. The chicken sandwich has just the right amount of kick in it. The fries are so good. Drinks werent bad either. It would be interesting to see how this place at night but lunch was quiet and easy going.
Tucked inside Duniway Hotel in Downtown Portland - this place seems kind of hard to approach for a casual night out - but they have great meals and drinks to enjoy. Ive heard many great things about their meat so I went in and tried their meal, and I would say their Duck dish was one of the best. They also have great selections of oysters.
Bacon chop was fantastic. Tender and juicy. Seasoning was perfect. Size is huge.. good ham and They have veriaty of good jamons aged in their own aging room.Good Atmosphere and service.A little pricy~Used public parking lot right behind the building. It was not much expensive.
We made reservations for a large group and got set up in a back room, which was nice. The service was slow, but it was a busy Saturday night. Food was very good. Loved the lamb rib rack. Also, we really enjoyed having some wine before dinner in the lobby bar. Really cool bar staff 🤙🏼
We came here for breakfast as we were staying at the hotel. The french toast was fine but if you like soft pillowing french toast this is not the one as they use a bread pudding type sliced bread so the inside is moist and dense. The scrambled egg sandwich was below par. The scramble was over cooked
The food was pretty good. My friend’s cocktail was good but mine was disappointing for $12. The service was good at first, but I think our waitress forgot about us at the end and it took about 20 minutes to get our check. The decor and ambiance was nice.
One of the best hotel restaurants I have ever been to...Staff looked professional and played the part. We had some great snacks while watching the NBA Finals.8 ham board was great idea with individually sliced hams from across the world...and identified on the presentation. Beans and radishes were well presented too. Dont miss out on grilled cheese.Wish we had room and time for fried rabbit. Not alot of value to be found on the wine list, but if budget is a concern...make sure to get to either of their two daily happy hours.Keep up the good work.
Very interesting food selection and all was very good. Service was a bit slow and they forgot to bring out the mushrooms I so wanted to try.
Rented this place out for a holiday party in 2017. They did a fabulous job and I poke in from time to time to grab lunch. The menu is adventurous and the chef is not afraid to take risks. I love the grilled cheese (egg and honey drizzled), its fabulous and an array of flavors that are unique and meld really well. The deviled eggs are great as well and the onion on top gives it a wonderful sweet crunch to offset the creaminess of the egg. Highly recommend.
We were looking for a late night snack after a concert at Arlene Schnitzer and was worried they wouldnt still be serving food. Was pleasantly surprised to find that at 10pm it was "happy hour". I had the most amazing grilled cheese Ive ever eaten and a Sonora dog which was delicious.Friendly staff and decent prices for a really nice place.
Atmosphere and service were wonderful. The reason for the three stars is for the skimpy portion of the King Salmon plate. For $25 dollars and it saying "KING" one would think it would be a larger portion than it actually was.
Tried it on a Saturday happy hour. The vibe is kind of 50s cool lounge. The service was good. The drinks were okay. The food was nothing special.
Oh wow. The appetisers were so good. I come from a long line of southern women who are clutching their pearls at this comment, but the very best deviled eggs I have ever tasted in my LIFE were here. Get those. Eat them all. Dont share. Your friends will understand and order their own. Delicious fried pig ears. Yummy cured meats. Super tasty burger. I got it as suggested, medium rare, which is more red than I typically prefer. But oh wow, the flavor was so good. Get shown around. There are lots of details in the decor.
This restaurant is all around great but definitely not exceptional. Food is seasoned well, the service is great and the ambiance is perfect. With this price point I expected slightly more extravagant flavors. By far the best dish was desert with it simple but perfect flavor combinations.
Great food, great service and great ambience. Our group of friends thoroughly enjoyed the pin bone steak and the accompanying sides. The meat was well cooked (medium- rareand deliciously seasoned. My only complaint is that it could have been served warmer. The desserts were also decadent. I highly recommend!
Love this place by Chris Cosentino of San Francisco fame. His fresh take on all parts from proteins are thoughtfully put together turning unique cuts into dishes that can easily be translated.
Our company, Feynman Group, which specializes in Cybersecurity, VoIP and Web Development solutions, chose Jackrabbit for our annual company holiday dinner. Maribeth and her team delivered exceptional coordination and service. The restaurant’s atmosphere was ideal for the occasion. Our cocktails and dinner were sublime with numerous members of our party noting the French Onion Deviled Eggs and exquisitely prepared roasted chicken. Jackrabbit included our company logo at the top of the preselected menus, to boot. The experience far exceeded our high expectations. We will look forward to working with Jackrabbit for future events and to simply stop by for an outstanding meal.
Great atmosphere and service. Food was ok but nothing to write home about. I had the Jackrabbit buger which fell apart instantly, due to egg. Wasnt bad, but not great. Oyster appetizer was a little lacking.
10-14-18:Had brunch again and it was the highlight of all meals. The flapjacks were light and fluffy. 👍Also shared the oysters Benedict. Rich and delicious.10-13-18:Brunch was excellent! Had the waffle with salmon and the Greek yogurt. Both were fantastic.Service was excellent.
Would I go back here? Definitely not. The food was way overpriced, portions were small and fish was absolutely bland. Service was wonderful. However for the prices paid I expected WAY better.
Loved the decor and ambiance, and the food was fantastic! The menu all looks amazing and we couldnt decide so my friend and I shared the Jackrabbit burger and a pasta dish. The ragu was to-die-for, and the burger was juicy and delicious. We then had the Chocolate torte for dessert, which did not disappoint. Everything from the ambiance to the service to the food was on-pointe.
I came here for dinner and we ordered the oysters for $120. The oysters were the best I have ever tasted. They were fresh and refreshing. We also ordered the grilled cheese and it was so good. I would highly recommend this.
Lamb loin was cooked to perfection and the flavors were on point. The French onion deviled eggs were good, but spendy. The pig ears were great and worth the money, get 2 limes though 1 just isnt enough.
Visiting from out of town, I started with the grilled cheese with duck egg, and then moved onto the lamb entree with a side of potatoes. The food was just incredible and the service was excellent.Give yourself a little extra time to really enjoy this phenomenal dining experience.
I visited Jackrabbit for dinner while visiting Portland. The space was dimly lit and modern, providing a good ambiance for a nice dinner. Our table had oysters, fried rabbit, duck breast and the halibut. The food was creative and different than what you would find at other restaurants and overall enjoyable.
We had nice drinks and a pleasant talk with the bartender, cool place.
We find this place a bit overpriced. The flavors on the chicken dish was excellent. Cocktails were decent. Waitstaffs are a bit off but the host and manager are super friendly and nice. I like the place and probably will come back for the chicken, oyster and cocktails.
Fantastic restaurant and bar in a gorgeous hotel. Brunch was spectacular as was the happy hour.
Love Chris Cosentinos Portland establishment! Visited a year ago when they just opened and had to come back while in Portland. Food is excellent and of course hes known for his charcuterie.
Very cool vibes in here! Love the food too! And the desserts here are so unique :my twin loves the drinks and my mom really enjoyed the chicken with bacon. We had an excellent girls night out!
Amazing courses. Amazing homage to all things Pig and Rabbit. Great oysters and even better steak tartare. Seriously a tourist and local favorite must.
Had a late night dinner and loved the decor of the restaurant. A nice rounded menu that anyone could order off of. I dont recall the dish name I ordered but I believe it was a sort of whitefish. It was a little bit salty for my tastes, but the squash puree was delicious.A friend ordered a chicken dish and was given a very healthy portion for his meal. If you want bang for your buck, Id suggest getting it. I tried a piece and it was very moist, full of flavor.
Other than exceptional swine feast options, youll get a great selection of greens.
Very good diner with a Giant piece of meat to share. 3 to 4 people. Good desert and nice wine selection. Not the cheapest place but Id do it again.
The atmosphere is great here, and it would be a great place to grab a drink, but the food was much more expensive then the quality and quantity in my opinion. It was good food but not amazing blow your mind food even though I paid the blow your mind price for it.
The food was good. The prices were reasonable. It took 15 minutes for the staff to take our order, another 20 for drinks to arrive and another 10 after that for the food. We never were asked for a second drink order. The drinks were overly sweet, heavy handed with spices, and didnt come close to the level of the food.Keep in mind, it was early happy hour, there were less than a dozen patrons there, 2 wait staff, and a chatty bartender (who we were 5 feet from and could have walked the drinks over). The manager seemed friendly and did a lot of bussing of tables.Overall a disappointment. Wanted to like, looked cool, cant recommend.
The burger was terrific. It came with tomato jam and fried potato chunks. Its a bit expensive, but the service is great and food tasted/looked amazing. The atmosphere was very nice with both a bar and oyster bar, plus really cool Edison bulbs everywhere. I would highly recommend.
Amazing service. Great atmosphere. The food wasnt really my style, but it was not bad! But, they have the Impossible burger here so thats pretty exciting.
Reviewing only brunch but the food was good, ambiance was great. Good selection of breakfast sandwiches.
Ive been there a few times now -- in the restaurant and at the bar -- and have had a really good time. The menu definitely has some "adventurous" options, but there are some simpler dishes that could appeal to less edgy eaters. The drinks are great. Amy, the bartender, has been awesome at introducing my girlfriend and me to new things. But really the whole place is just great for trying out new stuff. Cool design, too.
The offerings are upscale and very unique. Exotic items like beef heart and Spanish hams. The quality of the food mostly meets the somewhat high price point.
Food:Best dish: king trumpet mushroom ($8)Perfectly grilled and seasonedDuck fat cauliflower ($8)Pretty good but nothing really special.Pig head (shared by 5): 👎🏼I had really high expectation and it fell through the crack. It was only half the head and more fat than meat. The skin was overcooked so instead of crunchy, tasty skin you get chewy leather. There were salad on the side but not enough to cut the grease. They need to add more acidic components to balance it out. It also doesnt really have any taste. The dish also came with chicharron. These are the worst I have had. I would rather eat the one you can buy from gas station, at least those would melt in your mouth. They look super plasticky and taste like that too, really hard to bite off.Next time Ill just get some roasted piglet from Asian restaurant. Its super fatty so if you just want the experience of eating one bring lots of people so you dont have to suffer alone.Hot mess ($28was literally a hot mess. Its touted as an open face sandwich with jam, fois grois and sliced pig feet meat. What came out was some toast looking thug drowned in sauce. The bread was really sweet (?!and the sauce overwhelmed the fois grois and pig feet.3 little pig:Ham and bread platter. A good appetizer to share. Those grilled (?bread slice were so good!Kombucha:I was expecting a bottle but they bought out a tiny cup of kombucha 😒Service:Waitress was kinda grumpy. Pretty mediocre service for such a fancy place.
Wonderful happy hour. Knowledgeable bar staff. Comfortable and inviting ambience.
