Classic American style burger joint, the menu is exactly what you would expect - nothing fancy, but has all the basics. The food is fresh, flavorful and fast. In my opinion, the burgers are the best in santa cruz for this price, and the fries are pretty good too.

Great burger and fries for a reasonable price. Ask them to grill the onions and try the blue cheese!

I traveled the California coastline for three weeks and ate at countless burger joints but this one was by far the best. What I liked most was that the burger comes with a thick layer of ultra-fresh, cold and crispy lettuce. Not just a single sorry leaf like in so many other joints. Fries were also outstanding, perfect balance of crispy and soft. Keep up the great work Jack´s kitchen team! I will spread the word for you here in Europe!

Cheapest burger meal in comparison to 5 guys, with a side of original taste and amazing flavor..I recommend the Chipotle or beyond burger options !

Jacks has been a favorite mom and pop burger joint for decades and Im so happy its still here. Their fries are crispy and fluffy and a single patty burger is well charred quite substantial. You can request its doneness as well!My favorite vice is the chipotle Burger. The added cucumbers, caramelized onions and veg with the chipotle sauce give this burger a very fresh taste. Not too spicy!Definitely give Jacks a try if youre in the area if youre in need of some cheap filling eats ✨

Jacks is a great local spot for burgers. It is the kind of greasy spoon place you remember as a kid growing up. A favorite of mine is their turkey burger. Everything on the menu will remind you of a classic neighborhood burger spot, if you want a quick bite to eat you should come here! I love Jacks

Wasnt expecting such a good value burger joint. Had the chipotle burger... it had cucumber on it ... and it was really tasty. Will be having more!

We ate at Jacks twice during our 3 day stay in Santa Cruz. First ordered through door dash to our hotel, second in person. It was excellent both times, though the door dash order was missing the drink. Was it the driver or restaurant? Imposible to know, but it was refunded. Indoor seating is modest and cramped, but there is outdoor seating too. The tri-tip sandwich was ordered twice and is big and tasty. The Hawaiian chicken, and Hawaiian burger are both also excellent. To top it off the fries are very good. This is definitely a spot for a great burger and fries, and at a respectable price.

This Mushroom Swiss Burger is delicious!! Stopped on our way home from Santa Cruz. Seems to be a popular spot.

One of the greatest burguers that I ate at California. Very nice place to stay as well on a sunny day. Totally recommended!

Fairly good customer service, however they tend to forget about the toppings a lot. They also told one of my friends that a cup of water was 10 cents, and my other friend got it for free. Kind of confusing at times. But overall service is great.

Parking is not the greatest in the meter made was giving tickets out as soon as the meter expired. They also take forever to give you, your online orders

We were looking for a quick bite to eat and found Jacks Burgers by accident. We were very impressed on the fast service. Our Burgers and homemade fries tasted amazing. Definitely coming back in the future.

Delicious meal! Burgers were great and the fries were perfect. Jacks was busy when we stopped in but thats to be expected on Memorial Day weekend and the weather was fantastic. The food is worth the wait! Would definitely recommend over any chain food!

Literally my only complaint about this spot is that I waited so long to try it. Hands down a hidden gem off the main strip and away from the tourist scene. Simple, old school burgers that you can smell from blocks away. This is what the chains try to replicate but will never be able to.

Was one of the BEST hamburgers Ive ever had! ❤️ Just before walking in you could smell the charbroiled flavor. It was SO tasty! I had a cheeseburger with basket of fries and the fries were thickly cut and cooked to perfection! I highly recommend this 👌 place for the best burger in Santa Cruz!

Jacks was recommended by a friend who visits Santa Cruz often and I can see why its so popular. I had a cheeseburger and fries, super simple, but very good. Service was quick and the food was fresh. Its also decently priced for the quality of food you get. Will definitely eat here again when in Santa Cruz!

I’ve lived in Santa Cruz my whole life & this is the first time I’ve eaten food from here. My friend and I ordered takeout using grub hub. The online ordering was straight forward & easy. The food arrived within 25 minutes and it was still hot-not what I was expecting! I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food from Jacks (the produce was really fresh& the whole experience with grub hub was really convenient as well.

Very tasty burgers are to be had at Jacks. Thin patties with crispy, charred edges. Nicely crisp fries, fried in very fresh oil completes a fine old fashioned meal.

Just tried this on a whim while vacationing. Burgers were good. We tried the Tri-tip steak sandwich, Salmon Burger, and Jacks special. All were very good. The fries were just average, and the cheese fries slightly below average. But overall it was good and we would happily come back.

Ive been going here since I was a kid. Absolutely the best burgers in town, and the best fries. Everything In N Out is hyped up to be, Jacks actually is. A real Santa Cruz classic.

The service is friendly and efficient. They have a wide variety of burger selections. They have salmon burgers, chicken sammich, and milk shakes. Great value and great taste.I got the cheeseburger basket and flying Hawaiian chicken sammich. The burger was juicy and had enough seasoning in the meat. The lettuce, onion, tamoto, and pickles were fresh and crunchy. I give it a 8 out of 10. The chicken sammich was really good. The slice of pineapple it came with was fresh and not out of a can it seems. I give the sammich a 7 out of 10 as Im not a fan of pineapple touching my meats.Fries were just right. Some were crispy and had a great crunch. Some were soft and moist. And some were ever so slightly cripsy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside.

Just visiting the area for the weekend and found this hidden gem - HOLY COW do I have only good things to say! My quick review? Delicious food, served by a quick and friendly staff, for an affordable price.The Food: Fantastic. My friend and I got the Swiss Mushroom burger, my partner got the Diablo. ALL of our burgers were excellent quality. The meat had perfect texture and was free of excessive grease, meaning we walked away feeling great (not sick and bloated like other burger places leave you.The buns were lightly toasted and retained a good "fluff." The lettuce was crisp, and the mushrooms were fresh! We shared a lemonade which also mustve been freshly made, as hinted at by the pulp. I simply cannot praise the food quality enough!The Service: Quick and friendly! Theres an outdoor area with tables and benches to eat at, and the restaurant has an open window where they call out/deliver your order. (We chose to eat outside due to COVID but it looked like indoor seating was an option as well.For us three, we waited maybe 15 minutes tops for all our burgers. Some Uber Eats/Door Dashers came by as we were waiting and they too got their orders exceptionally fast.The Price: Incredibly affordable considering the quality. A combo meal with fries came out to be about $10 each. Compare that to other fast food places that now charge upwards of $10-$15 for a similar combo meal for significantly crappier food, and you realize how great this place is.Jacks was truly a great find! Being from out of town, I still felt "at home" here. The weather was perfect on this specific day, so eating some tasty food outside and taking in the downtown scene was epic. If we pass through again on the way back to our hotel, well definitely be back for Round #2!

Their burgers and fries are very good. They messed my order up a little bit but thats ok. Not a big deal. I asked for extra lettuce and didnt get any lettuce🤣. It was still delicious.I just added a Salt free seasoning to my fries. 😋Cant go wrong with this place. Its easy to find. A large menu to choose from.

Jacks was great! My daughter-in-law grew up in Santa Cruz and used to eat there as a child. We were out shopping and hungry so she mentioned Jacks as a place to eat. It was a little crowded but 2 outside tables were empty. Lunch was good and we were all full and satisfied. I would mention this place to anyone who wants to eat good food outside.

Highly recommand. Best fries and hamburgers. Everyday 3-4 buy one Hamburg basket or cheeseburger basket get the second basket 1/2 price.

Burger was great! Got a double cheeseburger with grilled onions and bacon. It was delish! The fries were so so. Nothing special about the fries. Had to take a 11.5 hr nap after eating it.

I tried their BELT (bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich with egg saladand was glad I did. Lots of bacon and lots of flavor. I was full for hours.

A sweet burger place right in the center of santa cruz! They even got their own parking lot which is really cool! I dont understand their no dogs allowed sign since its mainly outdoors where you collect your food and you eat them! Cashier had a hard time communicating my order but it was still accurate. The sandwiches are super good, just the right crunch on the fish sandwich! Maybe next time Ill try the burgers too!

I live right down the street and just had this classic for the first time! Yum it was great, probably the best burger I’ve had in town and if you come during the happy hour great prices as well. The fries were bland but add some salt and pepper and they are pretty good. A solid burger can’t beat the price!

Its ok, fries need salt, bread was dry, but sause had good taste. Long wait 30 mins and $11 for burger and fries.

Amazing!! Amazing!!! Amazing food. Best spot for a quick bite. Delicious and freshly made. The fries were crispy and done right. Make sure you pay for parking, I did see the parking patrol wondering around.

Best burger Ive had in a long time. Its just, wow. Great price, Fresh bright green lettuce and pickles, the special sauce is yummy, and I even left the tomato 🍅 on. No wonder there is a line, this burger is so worth the short wait. I added jalapenos and they even gave me an extra side of pickles at no extra cost. I will be back to this place for sure. The staff was also friendly and fast. Seriously what else could you ask for? Check this place out if youre in the area.

Fast and local... 1/2 the cost of big name premium chains now in town. Better service and food too. In a light weight remodel and open for service.You can eat in or outside.

Burgers are mildly seasoned but tasty. Fries are freshly fried and arent salty, which is nice. Service is fast and its a pretty cozy place. Its unfortunate that they close so early.
