Fast-food chain serving standard American eats such as burgers, fries & milkshakes.
Food was nice, coffee was ok, service was good.
Great service really nice food one of the best places in swindon I’m glad i brought my friends hear for lunch very clean and tidy nice space i highly recommend people to come hear i will be in again thank you. 😀👍
Probably a bad day. Stressed staff, some kind of construction going on making periodic loud drilling noises, long waits for food. Not bad food not intentionally bad service, but would visit again.
Great place with friendly staff. Only popped in for a coffee as we were in Swindon briefly.Place is being upgraded at the moment. The menu looks good and it was busy, which is always a good sign. Spoke with the staff about the renovations and they were excited about the changes. Hope it works out for all.One thing though. You need to maintain someone in the restaurant area at all times as it is a waiting service.
Don’t bother, came for breakfast and waited over an hour and when it came the eggs were hard, bacon and sausage over cooked and beans congealed, and massively overpriced, could have driven somewhere out of town instead!!!
The serving staff were lovely, the food was amazing, really great breakfast! It was easy to find, fast delivered to the table and yeah, great in every aspect, thank you Jack’s.
Coming from a family who own many restaurants in Swindon I know how this industry works and I have to say, I am absolutely disgusted with this place and the service. I will NEVER be returning. Not sure if the kid at the door was racially profiling, however we were very reluctantly let in and shown an empty corner to sit in. Waiting.. waiting.. waiting no menus or staff attending to our table so we therefore walked out. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable.
Superb cheeseburger with fab service.Burger review on tiktok#bashtagmylady
Best roast in town x lovely friendly staff keep doing what you are doing x x Jacks is here to stay x x
Went to try a new place for breakfast - pretty disappointed and won’t be going again. The place was clean and we were welcomed in as we arrived, but the food was really expensive and not worth the money at all. We had a regular breakfast, which was the price of a large breakfast just down the road. Ok if you can back it up with amazing food but this was not so… Toast was dry and cold, butter didn’t even melt on it! The rest was also cold and sparse even though this must have been one of the first breakfasts to go out. Very small! We also had eggs royal which wasn’t great either with poached eggs full of phlegm and parts of the salmon looking quite old, in my opinion! Such a shame as the reviews had us thinking we were in for a treat!
Absolutely lovely. Catered for GF and DF. Great vibes good music, fantastic service. Would definitely recommend the breakfasts and Prosecco afternoon tea.
Visited Jacks for Sunday breakfast. English breakfast and avacado egg toast were good. However the toasts were overcooked and hence dry. I would have given 4/5, had the service been good. Inspite of paying the deposit to book the table, they forgot to deduct it from the bill. They couldnt refund on Sunday as their office is closed and I was asked to call next day morning. I called next day morning for refund to find out the office staff, Nicki is still not in and they do not know when she will be in the office. Leavea a bad taste and unsatisfied customer even though the food was good.
Amazing food with friendly personal all in a very nice place located in the heart of the town .
We went for breakfast, terrible costumer service the toasts were burned, almost no food in the plate, the butter came inside of the plate mixed with the hot food and melt down, so we had no butter!! The worst breakfast we ever had in our lives and the most expensive 😫 for the price they charge we deserve nothing less then 5 star food and service!! We will never go back!!!
One of my wife’s friends dropped out of having afternoon tea at Jack’s. I filled the space so not really my choice of how to spend an afternoon, I was really pleasantly surprised, I’m into value and it felt very generous, enough food and The Prosecco was probably bottomless the staff where attentive and friendly. It was a lovely way to spend a couple of hours. Highly recommended
Lovely Lunch. Good Food. Efficient & Friendly Staff. Will go back again👍
Amazing gluten free breakfast. The older lady (forgot her namewho works there is so friendly. Highly recommended
Since my original so for a coffee, Ive been back many times. The food is excellent. The ingredients were simple and fresh. The sea bass was (according to my wife), great. The chicken and avocado burger was tasty and not too heavy.Pricing was good, the service was very friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
Went here for birthday lunch, as I’ve always liked Jacks.. started with the waiter serving us Camembert and spilling all the oil over the table, the cheese was out of date and they tried to tell us that Camembert never goes out of date….this makes me concerned what else they are serving out of date.Sent email to complain and they reply was dismissive and rude, will not be returning.
Discovered this restaurant while looking for breakfast/brunch place In Swindon. Ambience , staff service was excellent! The food was well presented and tasty too .I would suggest to book a table but the cafe is very spacious and plenty of tables.
This has by far been the worst olace ive ever been to.Reply to review from owner.Hi,I think youll find everyone in the restuarant saw your true colours, how you behaved towards myself. You were rude, aggressive, threatening and neither me or my carer needed the situaiton to escalate this much.I remived myself from the situation because your colleague was very rude, disrespectful, got in my face and called me a liar because the breakfast was very greasy and cold.I had no intention of being so disrespectful. My Carer hated his breakfast too. We tried politely asked if we could get a discount. Then the waitress became even more rude.I mean what kind of resturant treats there customers that way. Clearly an owner who doesnt care about the feelings of his customers, writes incorrect and unproffessional responses to reviews, just says it all.We no longer wish to speak on this matter. The council are aware of the situation, the police dfinetly were not on your side and how you treated us both and thats all there is to it.That aside I have PTSD so you have no idea how much upset you have caused and you should learn to know your audience, your customers and more important learn some and treat your staff with some respect.Because people like you dont even deserve to run thier own resturant.Have a nice life treating people like garbage and running your awful resturant 😁👍
Amazing place to go for a meal. The environment is nice, the staff is really friendly and very polite (quite amazed how polite the young staff were yo be honest). The food was really good, i had a the seafood risotto which was really delicious and everyone else had great things to say abouy their food. I really recommend this place.
My first visit to the restaurant. We had pancakes They were delicious. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Managed to get a table at short notice, lovely surroundings and service was great. Caramel macchiato much better than high street chains.
Completely lost my custom!!!As an old town resident ive been coming here for coffee or light lunch 1-3 times a week since they opened. Today I get a rare Sunday off and come for breakfast, the place was pretty empty and Im turned away. Great way to treat loyal customers 👍
we once again enjoyed a family brunch at Jacks, the venue cannot be beaten, modern, attention to detail, plentiful friendly staff, excellent service and high quality food. A highly recommended place to meet friends or family, booking recommended. 10/10 from us..and best pancakes in town.. huge thanks.
If I could give it zero stars I would. I Went to Jacks for the first time for afternoon tea at 3pm with friends to have a catch up. We pre-ordered our food to make it easier on us and the staff there. As soon as we were sat down the cream and jam was placed on the table. An hour later our sandwiches, cakes and scones came to the table. The bread in the sandwiches was very hard and dry, the cakes were also very dry and the scones were hard like wood. At the same time of all the items being dry, the jam and cream was on the table 2 hours before we could use them.We informed the staff there about the stale food to which they replaced the sandwiches and cakes with a fresher lot but couldnt replace the scones as there was none left. Other people around us having afternoon tea there, were also complaining about the same thing. When we had finished eating our afternoon tea, we asked to either speak to the chef or the manager about the slow service and stale food. We were told that the chef was not in and left at 12pm which was suprising as we thought the food there was made fresh. When I questioned this, the waitress informed us that he made the food in the morning before he left. To which I responded by asking if our food was properly wrapped as every item we had was dry and hard. She didnt know how to respond to this and said she will get the manager.10 minutes or so later the owner angrily storms to our table, throws £20 at us each and demands we leave the premises immediately. At no point was me and my friends loud or rude to any member of staff, when complaining about the stale food we were not raising our voices about it and left us all in shock as to why we were being treated the way we were from the owner. As we putting our coats on to leave still shocked after being told to get out, we asked the waitress that was cleaning our table, if the owner is rude like this to every customer. To which she replied "I cant answer that as he is my grand father" and she walked away.My first experience there will be my last and I will be telling all my friends and family to stay well away from there.
Absolutely abismal. The staff and chef are fantastic! Food was brilliant.... However the manager is a disgrace! Having "run out of ice" to make our cocktails (which we quite happyly changed our order to suit what was available. But 2 mins later the manager came over quite abruptly to"TELL" us in an extremely rude and un professional manner, it was because the ice machine runs on a 10 min cycle.... So rude in fact we should have just walked out, but didnt due to the rest of the wonderful staff! Needless to say under different management this place could be exceptional! But we will not be returning! K
First time Ive been there and it was a positive experience. Good breakfast and nice seating areas, feels private. Staff were friendly, I would go back again
Absolutely terrible service. Literally the worst my partner and I have ever experienced. The manager was rude, petulant, and even shoved my partners arm when we asked for a discount because we waited an hour for our food. Unbelievable.
Booked a table here at 6pm for 5. It was confirmed, but when we arrived our name wasnt on the list. Why? Because a better opportunity (£££££of a bigger Christmas party booking was too good to miss and they cancelled our table without telling us! We stood our ground and were advised we could have our table until 7.45. As we had no other option to book elsewhere at short notice we did we did agree to this. We had our drinks and main meal and at 19.44 the bill was slapped on the table! No chance or offer of a dessert or coffee. How rude! Food was OK, but be warned if you book and a better offer comes along by this establishment, you could be very disappointed! It ruined a much needed catch up with friends who had not seen each other for over a year. Wont be going there again.
Very disappointing. When I rang to book Afternoon Tea for four I was asked if there were any allergies. I stated that a member of our party had a nut allergy. When we arrived the waitress asked which of us had the nut allergy. She then informed us that she did not recommend that anyone with a nut allergy eat there. If that was the case, that really should have been pointed out when we made the booking. The waitress then acted as if she was doing us a favour by only charging for three Afternoon Teas and discounting the £40 deposit that I had paid which is the least they could have done. There was absolutely no apology.Thankfully the local Co-Op provided a nut free sandwich. As for the Afternoon Tea, the bottomless Prosecco went down well but the scones were dry. We would not go to Jacks again.
Pancakes have become so much smaller than what I ate a couple of weeks ago. I received three tiny pancakes I tend to make at home. The price definitely does not justify what I received. Its a shame that the quality has dropped so drastically. You will definitely not see me here again.
A great place to have lunch and a few drinks with friends. The food was good and not too expensive. The staff were polite and friendly.
Excellent fruit pancake breakfast with the grandchildren. Relaxing atmosphere with super staff.
Saturday is amazing very attentive. Weekdays less, staff limit the amount of Prosecco and tell you to be quiet when there’s no obscene or abusive language. We had one member of staff who was fantastic and others actually held their fingers to their lips to shhhhh. Food amazing though. If you’re a large group go on a Saturday and if a quiet group you’re welcome whenever.
Everything here was perfect! Firstly, friendly, helpful and pleasant staff! Also, a very good range of gluten free food, including sausages for breakfasts, which is rare to find for coeliacs & also great 2-4-1 cocktails with a good range to select from. Never waited too long for any of our orders and the young waiter checked in on us, even for our drinks! The atmosphere was great and I will defo be back for breakfast! We ate on a Thurs evening and the food was exquisite! I cannot even put into words how great it tasted, but it was up there with some of the best stuff I have ever put in my mouth! Thank you, thank you, thank you! 🙌🏼
The breakfast featured dry toast, sugarless coffee, undercooked bacon. The green garnish did make it look a little classier. All for a low cost of 15 quid.Miles and Miles away from matching weatherspoons. Dont waste your time, just go to spoons if you want a half decent breakfast.Staff were lovely though.
Tasty food, nice place for a dine-in. Average prices but not cheap. The teriyaki salmon is amazing.
Opens 8 am so I can have breakfast befor my morning meeting start. amazing food and the team are alway amazing. Would highly recommend.
Having eaten in many restaurants around the world including those of celebrity chefs I am delightfully amazed by the outstanding presentation and tasteful selection on the menu at Jacks. The food is delicious and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend the weekly menu also the Sunday roast.High class service from the waiters and chef thank you so much!S. Walker
Wonderful afternoon tea with bottomless gin. Staff were great and very attentive. Look forward to visiting again
Arrived at Jacks in Old Town on Sunday morning for breakfast and coffee. My son and I were shown to a table and a lady took our order. I asked for decaffinated coffee and my son asked for english breakfast and tea. The waitress went to the kitchen and came back about two minutes later to ask how we would like the eggs done, scrambled or poached. She then came back again and asked what bread we would like. She then came back with coffee. A couple of minutes later another waitress came to the table with the tea and more coffee. (I had only ordered one cup of coffee). I explained her mistake and looked confused but took the coffee away. The breakfast was resaonable but my sons tea was horrible, far too weak and he didnt bother drinking it. We then asked for the bill. The waitress asked if we were paying by card or cash. I told her we would be paying by card and she went to get the card machine. Approximately 12 minutes later she came back with the card machine. She then asked my son how much the bill was and then asked me to tap my card without showing me the amount she had typed into the card machine. I had to ask to see the amount. Overall Jacks is a pleasant enough cafe but the staff seem to be lacking in efficiency - maybe some training would help.... Im unlikely to visit Jacks again.
I had a high hopes from this restaurant for breakfast. Breakfast taste below average. Vegetarian sausage was very dry tasted like rubber. Scrambled egg was weird egg whites and yolk was not even mixed properly. Banana bread was delicious though.
Nice lunch time meal, staff very cheerful and helpful. Nice portion size. Service can be a bit slow but everything looks freshly cooked. Very busy for a Friday lunchtime. Only daft thing tables reserved for a time much later not used. Where you would have eaten and gone by the time its reserved. Toilets not to bad although the extractor need cleaning, its amazing how many cleaners dont look up.
Great friendly service with a smile. Fabulous cooked breakfast, comfortable and easy going. Really enjoyed our time here!
Family meal of 7 and all was perfect.Great Sunday meal had a Jacks. The pace was about right, nothing was rushed or cane too soon. We had three courses and all was great. We spent 2.5hrs In there and that felt right.Pleasant staff, well priced with good food.We even asked for more veg which wasn’t a problem.A thumbs up from us.
Very nice restaurant and amazing food. I was slightly dubious about eating here after reading the reviews on slow service but they have really upped their game on this occasion. I would highly recommend and will be returning.
Good eating, good size portions, pleasant surroundings
I’ve been there last night for my friend’s birthday meal. We loved the interior so we were hoping the food is going to be good too as we wanted to come back. And I need to say we were not disappointed! The ribeye was delicious and a chicken burger was on point! I’ve seen in their page that they do afternoon teas and tapas nights in there too, so that’s a definitely good reason to come back ;)
