JR Crickets in Athens

I’m confused? This is definitely the best place for wings in Athens. I’m a returning customer, but for the past month or so, every time I try to call in an order it goes straight to voicemail -so on a few occasions I’ve driven over there to place an order for Togo and they have been closed. Talking 7:30 on a Friday night. Y’all still open?

After eating JR Crickets twice in Atlanta, I thought ill come here to some enjoyable wings. Walked in the building it was so hot I thought i was gone faint. After I ordered my food i waited about 30 mins to for all my party wing to be wrong. He took our wings back to attempt to make it right and he took my food in the back and brought me the same box back after his nasty little hands been on them. The wings were so hard like the been refried to warm them up. Ill never in my life eat here and I don’t recommend nobody to this restaurant!!

New ownership and these guys are great!! Food was really good and the people are even better. Can’t wait to dine-in mid July!

Called in a 30 hot wing pick up order today. Stayed at door and they didn’t open to check box like they used to so got all the way home 25 minute drive to find they gave me the wrong order, chicken fingers and teriyaki wings no where near 30 wings. So disappointed. Called talked to owner said got ours mixed up with another customer but didn’t offer an apology or to make it right!!Paid $28 for 2 small orders of something I didn’t order. Will not be back. Supposedly under new management but I think the other one was better!!

Awesome wings!! Good service. Clean place. Nice dining environment. Definitely highly recommend. If you like wings from Pittsburgh youll definitely love this place.

Wings were delicious. Cooked fresh and ready to eat just in time for the big game.

I was there at a dead time of day: only me and one other solo diner. Very clean dining room, casual service lots of TVs showing sports. Not good-not bad-not sure if its worth a return visit. I enjoyed the flavor of my wings but they were nothing special, However my sister likes this restaurant for takeout so I gave a try

As much as I like their wings, I have to give one for service. It is deplorable. Anytime my husband and I place an order, were told itd be ready in 15 -20 mins. However, weve arrived at the given time only to wait an extra 20 minutes just to get the food I ve gotten there at least three separate time to find that order hadnt been filled. Today, is another bad experience. We chose JR crickets because of location is closer to the however. Order was placed at 6:05. Its now 7:09 and theyre just now putting sauce on the wings. A WHOLE HOUR LATER!!!!! No wings is that good. Last time patronizing them.

My BF asked me to lunch, and I suggested Crickets since wed never been there and my daughter said the wings were great. Unfortunately, the service was painfully slow. If the food quality had been better I may have let it go but by the time we got home we both had serious tummy troubles. Yes, that. Both of us, within 30 minutes of eating lunch, and we didnt even have the same thing! Somethings wrong here.Yes, we most certainly did have lunch ... he had a burger and I had wings. $30 for lunch and it took way too long.

Ignorant worker working up front. Put my ticket name as “Mexico”. Could’ve asked for my name considering I have one and not all Latinos are. Told her nicely about it and didn’t even get an apology, just “oh okay”.

Great food, a little pricey. The service was beyond Terrible 3 out of our 4 visits. And it’s a shame because it’s so tasty and close to our house

Always good wings from JR Crickets an Atlanta institution. I anticipated the Athens location would be just as good as the 1 on Ponce and I wasnt disappointed. I ordered the 50 piece, 25 lemon pepper 25 buffalo bbq. Fries included with my order. Full bar available with TV screens viewable from every seat. JR Crickets will definitely continue to get my business.

Great chicken wings, super recommended and the service was very good. Our waitress was very nice, polite and helped us choose bc it was our first time in. We will definitely go back!!!!

I think they serve steak there, because the service was A1. Thats the real JR Crickets. I will put sum respect on that name.

Bit pricey to me as well. I had fish basket @14.99 With 2 small pieces of cod fish cause they were out of tilapia and a handful of fries. It was okay but not worth the price.

Best wings in Athens. This place is consistent. Try the Dirty Bird and Lemon Pepper Wet sauce.

Had the best wings, onion rings, homemade blue cheese dressing and excellent service, 2 weeks ago for lunch! Going back tonight with my kids!!! :-)

I love the customer service, the people are wonderful, and their wing sauce flavors are great..BUT I used to go there for wings all the time and I’m finding that the wings themselves are way too small for the price. Chicken wings are the cheapest part of the bird and, not worth $1 per wing, especially with them being so tiny. It feels like I’m paying double for half of what I used to get.

Best wings in Athens! Friendly staff and awesome atmosphere. Cooks are amazing. Beer is cold. Daughters of the owner are very friendly

Had a great meal this afternoon! Hadnt been here before, the owner was very attentive to his customers as it was in between busy hours, something I very much appreciated. Easily the best wings in Athens, GA. Looking forward to coming back for their weekday specials.

Called in a 10 piece to go order. They said it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. I wait 30 minutes then leave to go get it. When i get there i pay and she tells the cook I’m here to pick up my order. I wait, wait, wait......... wait..... as I continue to WAIT I eventually see this cook thaw out my wings on the grill then drop them in the fryer. Please know that I was the only customer in there!!!

I went here earlier in the year and everything was great, but I went there today and the shrimp was still great, but the wings were tiny, fried beyond hard (like woodand the fries didnt taste fresh. I expected more, especially since my husband raved about the Atl locations.

This is an amazing place. The staff is very nice, and the place has a welcoming atmosphere. The food is simple and delicious. One of the many perks of this place is how simple yet amazing it is. No matter where you sit you can get a great view of a current sports game, and speedy service. If your ever in the area, drop on by. This place is a little of a detour but its well worth it, and you will be incredibly glad you came.

Great menu. Been 3 times and enjoyed everything. Last visit they were out of ribs ( which are awesome)... how do you run out of ribs?

This is a very relaxes atmosphere place, a place where you dont have to return overly friendliness to the staff, because you probably wont receive that kind of treatment, and that can be a good thing. The kind of place that has very tasty but bad for you food that comes in plastic baskets. Will return.

The food was of good quality, but the quantity for the price in which you pay was insufficient. Nice hospitality, and welcoming atmosphere.

Not the best wings Ive ever had but the sauces have a fun twist to them. Fries arent as crunchy as I like and wings are harder than I like. Great service and nice atmosphere.

It’s very very good food but service is bad. Never ever order to-go from there. It will take over an hour and a half. We waited 45 min before even leaving to get it, then once we get there it takes at least another 45.... every time we go. But the wings are so good I still keep going. And will continue to...

Im not much of a wing person, but their lemon pepper wings were great.... Blue cheese dressing could be way better though.

This is my favorite Friday night hangout.... The staff is always friendly. Its clean and the food is always on point... I recommend going here to anyone.

Went there the day of Alabama-Georgia game. Staff was nice but they didnt seem equipped to handle the crowd. They were severely understaffed. I called around noon and asked if I could place my order so that itd be ready by a specific time. I was told there was no need and to call 30 minutes before I needed it ready. I tried calling in my order an hour before time but they hung up on me five times so I drove there to place my order. Had to wait over an hour for my order and it was incorrect. Didnt even bother calling to complain since I was already 30 minutes away at the party I bought the wings for. Make sure to check your order before leaving. Im out $86 for wings that nobody really ate. I threw out around half of them. They did well with my small orders but the biggest one was a let down.

My fiancé and I went there for the first time tonight and it was awesome!! The owners and the staff were very welcoming, personable and professional!! The wings were the best I had in a long time and the drinks were on point! It was NYE and they gave us complimentary noise makers and champagne!! #LovedIt

Short staffed. Food was meh. Slow Kitchen. Oblivious managers. I wouldnt give this one star but I have no choice. Want to know of my visit here? I was very impressed with the entire establishment, prior to ordering I observed the staff as this was their grand opening. Your professionalism was impressive to say the least. you handled your customers with respect, the food was delivered hot and in a timely manner. Thank you to the owners for greeting every customer, as long as you continue to give it your best your blessings will overflow more than words can say thank you so much for keeping me out of Atlanta traffic. Their is no such thing as a negative review we all have room for improvement use your ratings as that guide line.

I am really impressed yesterday was quite am exsperince with the Dawg nation, the wings were great the food was hot and i nominate the staff for a raise. See ya soon and thank you most definitely worth the wait

I went here for lunch today super excited to introduce it to my weekly lunch group. I am originally from Atlanta and had always enjoyed going to location there so I was expecting and hoping this experience would be equally enjoyable. My experience turned out to be the complete opposite. My group and I arrived at the restaurant around 12:00 PM and we quickly found a table as there were only 5-6 other parties ( a total of maybe 20 peoplein the restaurant. Our server was very nice and very prompt with getting our drink and food orders. She provided recommendations and we discussed with her how excited we were and the good things we had heard about the restaurant. However, after putting our food orders in 15 minutes after we arrived, we then ended up waiting over an hour and still had not received our food. All of us were now over our allotted lunch break and we had no food to show for it. We asked to speak to the manger as we all were close to just walking out and hustling back to work. While speaking with the manager, we learned that they had been back in the office doing paperwork and had not realized how far behind the kitchen had gotten. I find this to be unacceptable. It also made no sense how restaurant with only 20 or less people in it could take an hour to deliver food. The manager was nice enough to comp our lunch, but we were unable to leave a tip for the waitress who had been working hard to attend to all of her other tables who were also becoming frustrated. We ended up having to take orders back to our respective offices where the food had now become cold. All in all, it was a very disappointing experience for a place that I used to hold in high regard and was excited to introduce.

I was super excited to try this spot for lunch given all the good reviews. We had a group of 5 people that arrived to the restaurant right at 12. We were one of about 6 tables total that had patrons. Our server was pleasant and prompt with taking our order and providing drinks. However, after over an hour of waiting without receiving our food we asked to speak to a manager. We were then told that she had been doing paperwork in the back and didnt realize her kitchen had gotten so behind. At this point, having wasted our entire lunch break we were all ready to walk out hungry. There was no reason that a restaurant which was not busy should have taken that long. Additionally, the manager should be cognizant of what is happening in the lobby and kitchen of her restaurant. The manager was very kind to comp our meals, but would not allow us to use a card to leave a tip for our waitress (who was working her tail off trying to keep waiting patrons happy). Its unfortunate that such a highly reviewed place missed the mark by so much today. All in all, having to wait until I was back at the office to eat now cold chicken was a big disappointment. The food was fine although not at all worth that wait.

finally, great wings in Athens! The fried clams are amazingly good also. The celery with the wings was hydrated and crunchy. My wife explained how and why. Its a southern thing... First weekend and they were slammed. Service was great in spite of that. Well be back often. Big menu and all done fresh and properly.

You can never go wrong at JR Crickets and this location is no exception! Phenomenal service. I mean stellar!!! Seems like the whole staff came by and checked on us and they were all so friendly! Cant wait to go back....... Tomorrow!
