JAXA Tsukuba Space Center Exhibition Hall 'Space Dome' - Science museum in Mitsukaidō, Japan
Its a great place to visit to understand about the history and the space exploration by Japan. Satellites, scaled models of rockets and many more technological details are displayed in this place. There are special programs for kids as well. No entrance fee and it took around 2 hours to cover the whole thing. Its open on weekends as well. Open time is 9 am to 5 pm. If you visit Tsukuba/ if you live around Tsukuba, this is a nice place to visit.
Good to know about the Japanese space exploration & you can see the hard work done by the Japanese people ..precise, pin point accuracy, rigid, durable fatigue free design & making of equipments...Really nice experience.. Visiting with kids would be better for them
Quite small, but very interesting place.
4 of us all Mom👩, we really enjoy , learn a little bit about 🌎, 🚀👩🚀👨🚀🚀
The NASA of Japan JAXA! Very informative and so many space inventions and rockets on display. Replica of Hayabusa is amazing! There is a souvenir shop which has the astronaut pen too. Very impressive and highly recommend a visit! 👍
Its a great place to visit for both Japanese people and English-speaking foreigners. All signs are dubbed in English, and there are so many good things to do in here!
Great space tec. Of japan
A fun place to stop by on the weekend. Its a little outdated but still interesting. Great for kids too.
Its a nice place to visit with your family and have some quiet weekend trip. We enjoyed visiting omiyage shop, learnt about satellites and space missions.
It was wonderful to visit JAXA.The stuff are very kind and friendly although it was after COVID-19 emergency state declared was released.
The time I got to be near it, I didnt think how complete this aeronautical agency was. By the time I got visiting their offices, it was fully equipped with the latest technology in all the aspects... Their combination between the infrastructure and nature are really catchy
models of space station and satellites, but most displays are written in Japanese only.
There are many exhibits of Japanese satellites, rockets and related things. From the first one to very recent one. Some of them are real ones. You can check, take photos, go inside and read details in English. Real rocket of big size is placed in front of the building. All the facilities are provided. Parking, wheel chair access and wash rooms are there, in very good condition. Service, is very friendly as usual in Japan.
Place where you can see Japans space development. Free entrance!
The exhibits here are interesting and informative. Placards and an audio tour are available in both Japanese and English.
Great interaction with displays and guided tour of a functioning space centre. Loads to see and do, glad that I went.
Nice place that exhibits space equipment from Japan like the the Japanese part of the international space station.
Amazing exhibition with mesmerizing technologies. Very eye opening for visitors and sparks interests of children in the astronomy.
Interesting place to visit. Informative with various Japanese space advancements throughout the ages. Free entry. Good way to spend a couple hours.
I didnt do the guided tour so walked around the space some (which is a free museum), its small, has some interesting info but mostly in Japanese.
A little far from Tokyo but the exhibits are free. Full size satellite and ISS module displays. Bring a lunch if you go because there isnt much in the way of food there.
Nice place. JAXA kept most of the satellite (or sensorsprototypes, launched by them. The prototype of International Space Center is also available there. Had a great experience.
Many amazing and interesting things to see, especially when you love space and science.
A grand exposition of Japans space technology expertise and products!
Interesting exhibit inside and its absolutely free! Best to bring kids along as there are interactive stalls. Theres a life-sized international space station module that you can explore. Bring some cash if you fancy souvenirs. They have books, pendants, caps and a NASA astronaut jumpsuit for sale! There are no restaurants on site and nearby. Suggest to come with a full stomach or bring food and have a picnic in a nearby park.
Nice marvelous place! You can feel the real taste of space adventures!
Rockets ✔️ Satellites ✔️ Space Station ✔️ Space Ice Cream ✔️ Free Parking ✔️ Free to enter ✔️ Space Suits NASA and Jaxa! Its a little small, but that means you can go Tsukuba Expo after and have a good time at multiple places on the cheap!
Free Admission.Free short tour. but only Japaneseguide.Freely take a photo.
Id like to see more informations in English. I understand that the museum is in Japan, but like tourist, I was a little frustrated to cannot read almost anything. But the place is brilliant
You can learn lot of things about space research
Its a free exhibition but its really pretty good. If you are coming from Tokyo and have the JR Rail Pass, you can consider going from Arakawaoki (荒川沖station. Note that the limited express trains (Hitachi and Tokiwado not stop here, so take the rapid or normal trains only.
Great facility but everything is in Japanese!!
This place very good for kids. We can get to know deeper on how the astronout can live in space. They show the astronout food, drink, and some other stuffs. We also can get into the space aircraft and try the asteonout costume. The atmosphere of main exhibition area is really live. The sky of the building made black like the night sky. And also we can learn about planets here. In the other building, they sell coffee, bakery, souvenir. I found some vending machines too in main building where theres hall and common room here
Really enjoyed my visit here. the centre has a free exhibition area with various satellites on display, a replica of the Japanese section of the ISS, and various rocket engines. There is also a tour of the restricted areas of the site that you have to book on to (around 500 yen), this is in Japanese but English tours are available if you book in advance.
good place.to get knowledge about aerospace
A visiter center with relic of the japanese space agency and presentation on future plan; small, but interesting and free;Label and description in english
Excellent display of rockets and programs related to Japan International Space Station (ISSparticipation and space ventures. The guided tour is very informative.
Small free space museum. If youre in the area, its worth checking out.
ISS の実験棟の実物大が見れたりあまり興味が無い人でも楽しめる❗宇宙食の自販機もあったりとなかなか楽しいところでした🎵
Nice place for the student who are studying regarding the aero space technology.
A wonderful place to check out if you are interested in satellites or human space flight. There is a fun tour offered in English and Japanese, but be sure to specify when you make your appointment. I did not call far enough ahead, so there were no English tours that day. It was not a problem because the Japanese tour is detailed and I could get the jist of it. The gift shop is small, but there are many cool trinkets.
Little NASA of Japan. Worth to visit if you can join the tour.
There are not many chances you can see the real spaceship and satellite in one place. They have guided tour so you don’t need guess what you are seeing.
Interesting to see the workings of the ISS however the tour was fairly bland with prepared exhibits lacking creativity or charm. English guides also simply read off a script which made the tour feel inauthentic.
Great tour. The best part is the opportunity to see into the main control center.
An incredible experience. Make sure you book in advance on their website (at least 7 daysfor an English speaking tour guide.
One of the must see on Tsukuba, its an amazing place and its free. Theres a little coffee shop and a souvenir store. Guide visits are available, and some days are special activities
Very interesting place. I recommend this place as a must to visit if you will spend time in Tsukuba.
It is an enjoyable experience to observe the satellites, machines with their mechanisms and information collection from space
Very interesting place! Even with a lack of English, the items and displays they have here are very cool to look at!
