The Catfish nuggets are perfect. The gentleman that takes the orders is awesome. He forgot to put my dessert in the bag and he called me personally after I had already left to tell me. I came back and he included a extra. Great place ran by great people.

Super friendly, great food. We had chicken, pork chops, green beans, collard greens, black eyed and the best oxtail!! Also peach cobbler and pie...yumm..... A must stop when in town !!!

During our trip through eight states, this was the best restaurant we ate from. The service was very home like and kind, alone with professional courtesy. I would recommend that if youre within ten to twenty miles from their location. Its worth it to stop in and try this food.

This place is amazing! It is hands down the best restaurant I have ever ate at. I drive an hour and half from home just to eat here because there is nothing in my area that compares. Everything I’ve had is amazing: fried chicken, pork chops, collared greens, okra, black eyed peas, Mac n cheese, sweet tea, etc. I’ve been to restaurants where one or two things stand out but every item I have had from this place stands out! The dining is laid back and the staff is professional and kind. Thank y’all for amazing experiences!

This was my first time at this restaurant. I ordered a pork chop dinner with greens and rice I ordered a side of sweet potatoes and dressing. Im a very picky eater so everything just have to be on point for me. I only eat center cup pork chops and they had center cut pork chops and they were fried exactly the way I wanted them to be and they taste delicious. The greens were good and the sweet potatoes were very very good. The dressing was good but it just need a little bit more sage but all in all this food was a delicious. Since I moved to the South I have not found a real good soul food restaurant or Jamaican restaurant. I just found a real good one and I will be coming back. Im coming back because of the food but most importantly because of the customer service from the young lady that served me. Keep up the good work!

Was in search for some soul food pass by all the time so today on lunch stopped. Cabbage was good. But the dressing was HORRIBLE! it was like crumbled corn bread, like she scrapped pan to get the remaining crumbs, little burned edges along with no flavor, just plain ol cornbread. tasted it 😩 sorry yuck!!I will try another dish another time but dressing will not happen again ever. Wasted money on this day.

My first going, will definitely be going back. They are only open Thursday-Sunday. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Good southern cooking.

This place is the best! They were a little busy when I went but I don’t mind a wait if the food is THIS FREAKING GOOD! Everybody should eat here at least once in a lifetime. Ever time I drop my daughter off at Alabama State University I’m eating here.

Amazing customer service. The dressing is so darn good. I should have gotten more. Best gravy love it on my fries mmmm. Definitely will be going back.

I really didnt like the food the collard greens .if you cant cook greens its a no for me.but to each its own.

Headed back from Florida and dropped by to get some lunch. Absolutely the best meal Ive had in a while. 12/10 will be coming back, the owners are wonderful people and its matched by how well they can cook.

We were headed home from a family vacation and stumbled across this little gem. This was the best food and service we have received our entire trip. All four of our kids could not stop saying how amazing and fresh everything was. The only thing I wish was that it was closer to home. Thanks for an amazing experience.

Stopped by on our way to Florida. Great find. Food was the best we had for our entire vacation. We stopped back on the way home and we met the owner. She was super sweet and made is feel at home. Best two meals for a week of traveling. 😋

I dont know how the reviews are so good. They are what made me try this restaurant but apparently those people dont know good soul food. Its a NO for me. Save your money and your taste buds 😂

Customer service was great, the food was really good. My only complaint was they were out of a lot of stuff.

This place was absolutely amazing. The owner engaged with the customers. She was very friendly and her spirit was beautiful. Her son and the rest of the staff were just as friendly as she was. I will eat there again if I went back to Montgomery.

I’m giving them 3 stars solely based on service only, it’s a nice atmosphere with great customer service but the food isn’t good, my chicken wasn’t cooked hard enough yams tasted canned cornbread was dry Mac and cheese was missing the baked cheesy crunchy goodness and wasn’t authentically good something overall not up to par with my taste and overly priced compared to better tasting local soul food restaurants anywho first but last time eating there.

Omg this Is my first time coming to this place and lemme just say the good is so Devine and Amazing!! Trust me you want be disrespectful!!

Wonderful food, we had a little of everything. (Wings, fish, port chops, Mac N cheese, collard greens, black eyed peas, fried okra, pecan pie and peach cobblerlol of course we have left overs. Our granddaughter told the lovely lady there, that this was the best soul food restaurant she has ever been to. We definitely agree. This place is a must try.

My family was in town for a funeral and we were referred here. The food was AMAZING!! Soul food at its finest!! We tried All the sides and everything was so good! My Moms favorite was the catfish!!

A Wonderful friendly courteous people, best customer service ever. Food was delicious I had the ox tail and gravy. Of course I ordered takeout also fried chicken wings was delicious. We came to Montgomery this past weekend to visit the museum and for the walk in Selma. We wanted some soul food and found this restaurant. Everybody loved their food and the customer service was so amazing. My children and fiancé had fried chicken with sides of black eye peas and Mac and cheese they had no complaints and I had the catfish nuggets with a side of Mac and cheese and green beans I also had no complaints loved it. I recommend this place to anyone looking for some good soul food. I will visit again thank you for your service!!!

We were visiting Montgomery and searching for a"meat and three" when we found this gem of a restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious and the portions are huge. Family owned and operated and the owner personally hands you your food and makes sure your order is exactly as you wanted. Please support this local business.

The service was very hospitable and the food is oooh so good. We are RVers an we enjoy checking out local cuisine. On our first trip we ordered whole chicken wings, collard greens, mac&cheese, and pound cake. The food was so good we returned two days later to try other items plus to get more wings.I have saved JW Beverette restaurant on Google as a Favorite!😉

The food here is amazing along with the customer service and hospitality. First time visiting Montgomery and now when I come back I know my go-to spot for some good eats! Customer service was top notch and the owner Teresa was the best and ensured everything was done to perfection. Definitely will be returning back to this restaurant when I’m back in town. True definition of authentic southern cuisine 😁

Me and the wife ordered the Oxtails with Collard Greens and Black eyed peas, and it was tremendous. Oxtails were huge, tender, and smothered with brown gravy over white rice. As good as the main dish was, the star of the plate were the Black Eyed Peas!

Lord have mercy. This food is perfectly seasoned and not over seasoned. I had baked chicken with okra, turnips, mac & cheese, black eye peas. You get two sides, but I couldnt make up my mind. It was still under $19. You also get 2 corn bread rolls. I believe there is another bread choice. This food was excellent and the service too. Be prepared for a line because its that good!!!

I almost missed this one, but I had a taste for Peach Cobbler and my daughter was in Savannah enjoying Mrs. Wilkes soul food and she told me about JW. The food and the southern hospitality is everything good about Montgomery. The food is prepared with love and you can taste it in every delicious bite. Don’t take my word for it go see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.

this is the most delicious soul food i have had in all of montgomery! the catfish nuggets were IMMACULATE. the serving sizes were hugeee & prices were normal. if you’re looking to support a local business owned by a nice family, this is 100% where you should go.

Wow! Everything was amazing. I told the employee at the register that I am vegetarian and she helped me pick some solid options. The mac and cheese was the best I’ve ever had! I was blown away by the cornbread, fries, okra, and sweet potato pie. I was taking my food to go and they made sure I was happy with my order before I left. I wish I lived closer! Don’t skip it the next time you are in Montgomery!

My family was in town for the Mississippi vs Alabama High School All-Stars game. Fortunately a Google search lead us to this place. The family that runs this place made us feel welcome and at home. The food was fantastic. Just like a home cooked Sunday dinner. I had the Ox tails. They were tender, delicious and plentiful. Im a big fella and wasnt even able to finish my food. but I also had to save room for the off the chain sweet potato pie! I travel from Atlanta to Mobile often and have never had a reason to stop in Montgomery...until now.Thanks for taking care of me and my family! Keep up the great work. Place was flames!!! Had the Oxtail, rice, fried okra, catfish strips, Mac and cheese and mash potatoes. Everything I had was 10/10. Also make sure to splash some of the homemade vinegar with pepper sauce on just about everything. Best food I had on my whole road trip from NY to New Orleans!

We were greeted with such a warm and familiar welcome as we walked in. We seated ourselves as she brought out some menus and continued to recite the daily specials and customer favs with her perky and light hearted attitude. Pictured is what I ordered (two pieces of dark fried chicken w/2 sides of Cajun fries and fried okra). The fried okra was like no other. Ive never had fried okra taste so delicious with the perfect balance of crunch and softness. Not pictured, the collared greens. SWEET JESUS their collared greens were so good!!It was my sisters birthday and Teresa gave her a piece of red velvet cake on the house. When my sister came out of the bathroom, Teresa bumped up the music, found a candle to put on her cake and our group made a soul train for her. SO FUN, delicious and such a great experience. It was our first time visiting Alabama.

Our group is from Cali we came to Alabama to visit the Peace and Justice memorial. Afterwards wanted some soul food for lunch. Walking into J.W. Beverettes we were met with family vibes. The owner Terisa was warm and welcoming and everything we ordered was excellent. Some favorites we had were the greens and fried okra. Now we know where to come back to next time we visit Alabama💕

I cant express enough how absolutely amazing the food and service is here! This is true southern soul food. From catfish to ox tails . You name it. Delicious. Clean restaurant and down home cooking. Staff are always pleasant and respectful. I couldnt get enough of how amazing they treat their customers! They even cater which makes this even better!!! Definitely recommend a visit if you want good food and a home cooked meal. Just like grandmas cooking.

Justin Jones came to Selma Alabama and after we left the conference he said THERES A SOUL FOOD RESTAURANT THAT YOU HAVE TO VISIT IN MONTGOMERY ALABAMA MAPEACHES.... YES ITS A ALL THAT! We got there and it was closed-- The owner opened up and cooked fish fries and okra-- Now thats southern hospitality!And the place is anointed! Thanks for the opportunity to experience great food!

This was the best food I have ever had away from home. The service was great and the prices were reasonable.My daughter, wife and I were visiting relatives in Alabama and decided to try the local soul food. My daughter found J.W. Beverette on Yelp they had over 4 stars so we decided to give them a try. One of our best decisions ever. We all ordered different things so we could taste everything and we were very happy with everything. We ordered sweet potato pie and they were out. My daughter asked the cook about the pie and he said let me see if I can find you some. He came back with hot sweet potato pie and we knew after one bite why they were out of sweet potato pie it was FIRE!!!, which means it was great. If you have a chance to stop here dont pass it up you will miss a great treat.

This place is a GEM in Montgomery. The mac n cheese was cheesy, the dressing was so good and what i always look for in soul food cooking, FRIED chicken. Mmm mmm so very good. Talking with the people in there was so pleasant. Very nice, im so happy I gave them a chance. We will be back.

Down home cooking the way you want it to be! Try the smothered chicken or the oxtail. Collards to die for. Mac and cheese like momma makes. Friendly, fast service. Eat in or carry out.

I wish I could give them 10 stars! My son and I were traveling and found this place on Google maps. If you live here or are in the area you absolutely have to stop here! The food was delicious and the service was even better. The staff made us feel at home and made sure our every need was met while we ate. It was a wonderful experience! The fried catfish and smothered pork chops was really good. The Mac and cheese was of the charts good. However potato salad and collard greens did not taste homemade. The potato salad was watered down with chunks of bell peppers. I did not taste any sweet pickles. The collard greens tasted like can(glory). Workers were friendly.
