Ivy's Kitchen (cooking classes) - Tourist attraction in Taipei, Taiwan
Cooking classes with Ivy are an absolute MUST when visiting Taipei! I learned so much about different ingredients and techniques to make the most delicious Taiwanese food. Ivy is a wealth of knowledge, willing to accommodate dietary needs, and immediately makes you feel like an old family friend. Her classes are so much more than only cooking, as she weaves history, traditions and stories to share Taiwanese culture with her food. You will not regret anything from her menu! Ivy is the BEST!!!
hidden gemIvy is an outstanding instructor who provides cooking tips and the history of the dishes.Everything we needed was at our fingertips and the hospitality was unmatched. We were "well hydrated" over the course of the class, and delightfully full when we left. Cannot recommend it enough! super interesting experience.
Ivy went out of her way to explain every part of the cooking process. She was extremely knowledgeable and shared with us tips and tricks for replicating her recipes in the USA. We asked for her to make a menu that wasn’t listed on her website and she was very accommodating. She even went so far as to buy and entire turkey so that we could make turkey rice. Everything we cooked was delicious and she sent us home with the recipes and leftovers! I would highly recommend Ivy’s Kitchen.
Super interesting cooking class. Ivy is full of knowledge on local food and she knows how to explain it in simple ways. Her passion shows so you will be inspired :)
Ivy was super helpful and really lovely. We learned so much. Would highly recommend!
Ivy is charming, knowledgeable and can relate everything back to western methods or equivalence. Her experience and passion for food shows. Highly recommend. I had a private lesson on selected recipes that I was able to choose.
Ivy is a lovely person, full of passion for cooking. During the meeting she slowly involes people to the subject on the local market, a fantastic place, where you can buy everything the best quality, bio, organic etc..Ivy tells slowly the all details about the ingrediens and other products like a medicine doctor. After, the cooking together with Ivy and tasting her food is a paradise! Must try!!!
We had a cooking class with Ivy on our first trip to Taiwan and it was amazing. So on our second visit we chose to try the food adventure tour and it was an excellent choice! Ivy will customize the tour to meet your schedule, taste, and dietary preferences and restrictions. She knows Taipei as the back of her hand, so quickly she’ll figure out what’s the best option for you. And once in the tour, you can let her know how you feel like (if you want to rest, try more food, have a drink, do some shoppingand she can adapt on the spot. Since it’s a private tour you can do it at your own pace, and eat as much as you like! No rushing after a crowded group! We’ve been in Taipei before and tried a lot of food, but during the tour I tried so many new dishes and learnt so much about Taiwan culture. Ivy took us to many hidden gems only local people know, and made us try a lot of food that we had never noticed before or wouldn’t dare to try without her since if you don’t speak the local language some dishes are difficult to get on your own. We ended up trying 17 different dishes of all different kinds!Ivy is an excellent teacher, very friendly and patient, and she will happily answer any questions you may have about everything that’s going on around you. She taught us about the food, but also about religion, traditions, history, and everyday life in Taipei. We not only visited restaurants and food stalls, but also stop by a temple and some interesting shops and historical places that were on our way. After the tour, I could see Taipei with new eyes. I think this is a must do in Taipei. There’s nothing to get to know the city with a local, while eating and enjoying yourself. Ivy is so nice you’ll feel you’re hanging out with a friend. Don’t hesitate to contact her, she’s the best!
Ivy was a great at showing us around the market, explaining the unique things we would find in Taiwan markets, and very enthusiastic and humorous when showing us how to cook! We would definitely recommend taking a cooking class with her. We made beef noodle soup, Gua Bao and duck breast.
What a special day! The highlight of my trip to Taipei. Ivy is a master!
The Best cooking class ever! It was one of the best experience I had in Taiwan. Ivys super nice and sweet. She taught us how to cook traditional Taiwanese dishes like Three cups chicken, gua bao and lu rou fan. Must attend if you are visiting Taiwan and have passion for cooking.
I’ve been to many cooking classes. This was nothing like them. Ivy’s cooking class is way more than a cooking class. It’s an obligatory activity if you ever find yourself in Taiwan. She is warm, patient, filled with knowledge about every topic you could think of. No matter what you’re talking about, Ivy always has an a piece of interesting information to share with you. She taught us about language, where to get good food, history, traditions, culture. It was a wonderful time, chatting while drinking the wonderful taiwanese tea (and, of course, she taught us about the traditional tea ceremony). And then, the cooking class! She was beyond patient explaining everything, giving us tips and listing ingredients we could use back home to replace some local ingredients that might be difficult to get somewhere else. The food was beyond perfection. Beforehand, we asked her to surprise us. And she took the time to research about the food from our country before we got there. So she taught us about taiwanese dishes that were somehow related to ours. It was a great way to learn about unsuspected bridges uniting food and culture from two different parts of the world. The sweet and sour pork (taiwanese versionwe cooked was so good that I find myself being afraid to order it in restaurants because I know it will never be as delicious. Seriously, it was one of the best dishes I had in my life. Beyond perfection. We also cooked the traditional chive box, which was amazing. Crunchy and salty, super light, for me it’s the perfect snack to have while drinking beer. And don’t get me started about the clams. They were breathtaking. And I mean it literally. We ate so much we could hardly breathe. Every bite was perfect.Ivy taught us all about taiwanese food. Many blogs only focus on the street market food but that leaves out the most important and traditional dishes, that have amazing quality and are great for your health.I honestly believe this is way more than a cooking class. You get to learn so much about so many things, have a wonderful relaxing time with an incredible interesting person and go back with your belly filled with delicious food and a big smile on your face. Ivy’s cooking class should be an obligatory stop if your ever find yourself in Taiwan.
This was definitely one of the best cooking classes I have ever taken in my life. Ivy is a wonderful teacher, and we are so grateful to have shared an afternoon with her learning about Taiwanese food and culture! Her passion for food and her generous hospitality made the whole experience very special. Thank you Ivy for a very memorable afternoon of cooking (and for tailoring our experience to suit a vegetarian diet)!
I had a great time learning from Ivy.👍

I"ve had the pleasure of cooking with Ivy several times now and this is a great way to be introduced to Taiwanese cuisine. Starting from picking the produce at the market a d chatting a out what is in season or what is local and later picking up some cooking techniques and cultural insight. Ivy is really personable and an really cares about what she does..
Awesome local experience with a taste of Taiwanese cuisine. Ivy is a great teacher who speaks good English, friendly and lovely. Recommend this for those who want to spend some quality time with friends or family for a fun and chill activity.
Ivy is an amazing teacher and wonderful person to spend an evening with! Her cooking class resulted in delicious food that wasnt too complex to make. Delicious!
Fabulous!! Very much worth the money spent.
Maybe best in town :Take also the market.
