Itta Bena Restaurant - Southern restaurant (US) in Montgomery, United States
Waited 45 minutes for cold shrimp and grits , my sister ordered steak which was cold as well .... We decided we didnt want it and let them know the food was not up to par we left at least 4 plates full of food that we did not eat and still were charged bc we didnt not like it !!! It was a VERY unprofessional and unpleasant experience we got charged for food we didnt eat !!!! Why charge us ? if the food was not eaten MAKES NO SENSE .... Horrible experience!¡!!
Everything was amazing, the food, the drinks, the ambience and the service. I had the best She-Crab Soup. The oysters were cooked to perfection. It was my first time having Loup De Mer and it was so delicious. I give them a 20 out of 10. Definitely going back again and again.
I made a reservation for my husband’s birthday and it was awful to say the least. We ran about 10 minutes late but I called several times and there was no answer. I’d figured they were extremely busy. Upon arrival, we stepped off the elevator right in front of the hostess counter. We stood there 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. As we looked around I realized they weren’t busy at all. We were finally seated and after about 10 minutes a gentleman filled our water glasses. Another 30 minutes passed and there was no server. As we made final the decision to leave, a server approached asking had a server come to the table. We replied no and we were leaving. I’ve heard great things about Itta Bena however, this saddens me because I so wanted the experience for my husband’s birthday. Needless to say we will never return.
Absolutely wonderful. The food was delicious my wife had the herb roasted chicken it was tender juicy and completely DONE, I had the trout it was cooler to perfection. The potatoes and the asparagus was delicious as well. The fired green tomatoes were the best Ive ever had. Kayala our waitress was a treat and did a excellent job.
Had 16oz steak, red wine mushrooms, and mashed potatoes. It was Excellent !!!!
Very Cool Atmosphere… Food and Drinks were Great We Enjoyed and will be back soon.
Very beautiful impressive restaurant. The word SEXY comes to mind. Ive been a total of 3xs only at brunch which was good but could have more options and $8 for a mimosa is ridiculous. However I will continue to come back for the braised beef benedict (DELICIOUS). Staff is friendly but generally inexperienced for "upscale" dining in my opinion (diner quality service). Lastly not sure if the beignets were just a mothers day thing but they certainly should be a staple. The lump crab omelet was okay but certainly not filling and the steak and eggs left a lot to be desired.
We almost didn’t go to this restaurant based on several recent reviews. However we decided to roll the dice and give it a try. We hit the jackpot! One of the best meals we have had in a long time. The mussels were flavorful and the sausage and sauce enhanced their taste. The halibut was cooked perfectly and the grilled asparagus was a perfect side dish. And the fried oysters were the best we have had in our swing through the southeast where we have have sampled many.Did we mention the Old Fashioned’s - some of the best ever. We live in Las Vegas and have eaten in many fancy restaurants there. Itta Bena is as good as Vegas’ finest at a fraction of the price. Service, food, setting are all excellent.
Alexis was great tonight. Always smiling with a great attitude even tho she wasnt at the bar and was serving but still came over to speak. Just wish she made my long beach tonight.
No silverware, service was terrible to day on Mothers day. For the price worst experience I had at Itta Bena. Thirty wait on she-crab soup. Next time I will go somewhere else. I was a regular here, not if service is going to be like this.
We took my Brother-in-law there for his birthday dinner and the food was SUPERB!! The whole dining experience was great!! I highly recommend this exclusive place!
The atmosphere was impeccable it was such a lovely place so my expectations were high . From the drinks to the appetizer to the dinner rolls were all great . Then everything took a turn when we got our food . It was literally disgusting. I got the sirloin and my boyfriend got the burger. My sides were the Mac and some roasted potatoes and he got French fries . Literally sent the Mac back because it was just flavorless it taste literally like nothing at all . I didn’t wanna complain after I sent that back but I couldn’t force myself to eat that it was just awful . My sirloin came out cold and it smelled weird and it didn’t taste good at all and the burger honestly came to a surprise for me cause how can you mess up a burger we ask for bacon to see if it’ll make it taste a little better but we never got it unfortunately but the best part of our dinner were the appetizer I had which were the BBQ shirmp , the fries , the drinks and the dinner roll. On the bright side we complained to the manager and he took care of the entirety of the bill. .
Our server was Raven. Absolutely amazing. She was well knowledgeable with the menu. Customer service was excellent. Food was magnificent. We will definitely will be returning...
Just completing our dinner and could not find the link to review and give praises for the extraordinary service provided by Marcus! He’s awesome!! Made our evening special.
This place was our third choice for the night. The other two were booked up. TOO BAD for us! First of all, I ordered the fried green TOMATO (singularappetizer for $15! It was literally ONE THIN PIECE/SLIVER of a tomato with a mound of "very good" pimento cheese with other unnecessary garnish on it. The presentation was beautiful but the flavor of the tomato was lacking and it was room temperature at best. My husband ordered a salad. I wish Id taken a picture of the limp greens that probably were on its last legs and should have been thrown out. The ranch dressing was basically mayonnaise with a hint of vinegar. When he asked for bleu cheese the server said they didnt have a bleu cheese. I had the absolute worst shrimp n grits Ive ever tasted! The grits were thick n pasty, unseasoned and supposedly had Gouda cheese in it. The shrimp were swimming in some kinda red sweet sauce NOT savory Southern style like shrimp n grits should be. I immediately sent it back. When the manager brought my replacement sirloin he asked what was wrong with the shrimp n grits and we told him but there were several other complaints which he seemed to get annoyed with. But one thing was the dressing. We were floored when he said the main dressings they serve were bleu cheese and a vinaigrette. Umm, the server said they didnt have a bleu cheese? He did replace the ranch and the bleu cheese was better, but the salad was inedible! I asked for regular butter to go with the rolls that were brought out in the middle of the meal, they had none, only the weird tasting honey butter that tasted like honey and shortening! Anyway the sirloin was decent. The vegetable accompaniment was NOT! I finished off my husbands vegetables from his meal. He had a delicious Ribeye. Although it was VERY good, it was not worth the $55, even with the large serving of mashed potatoes and vegetables that came with it. Unless youre going for the ribeye, steer clear of this place. We will NOT be going back here again. I can think of few other things to waste $117 dollars on! SMH!
Service was slow and they were not that busy but the server was very friendly however none of the food tasted 100% good all dishes had a nice part but the bad part out weighed the good and for the price I expected way more
Went here for my birthday brunch on Sunday. The menu is somewhat limited for brunch but I knew that going in as I had viewed it on line. The atmosphere is good and our waitress was quick to take our drink order. ( Mimosas were great, not 75% OJ like a lot of places.I ordered all sides, grits, bacon and 2 eggs over medium. Friends ordered waffle and bacon, the brunch burger and one of the benedicts. It took a bit but no big deal we werent in a hurry. They brought out everyones plate but mine. Could not flag down a waitress but someone finally came and asked if I was missing something. Well yes, my whole meal. Meanwhile my friends were halfway through their meal and the one who had the waffle was still waiting on syrup or something to go it. It was clear that my meal was forgotten because it took a while to get it and it was piping hot when I did. Everyone who had eggs on their plate ordered them over medium. All of the eggs were over hard, very hard, rubbery even. Théy did comp us our second round of mimosas and they gave me a complimentary creme brulee which was excellent. Someone please teach this chef what an over medium egg is! I dont think I will be going back, at least not for brunch.
We arrive on time due to their strict policy but still received our food an hour late. After the very rude and ferocious manager approached with a very stiff and assertive demeanor. I complained that my breakfast potatoes were extremely hard and greasy he disregarded and didn’t attempt to retrieve more. I’m currently waiting to see how this matter will be resolved.
Carleesha Jordan was the most AMAZING server at this beautiful restaurant. She checked on us several times, she was knowledgeable of all items of the menu she made us feel like family she had the best suggestions for wines and food. I can’t speak highly enough of this staff and the kicker.. The MUSIC was everything, the most soothing soul music with the ambience and atmosphere to match.. Gentlemen, if you’re looking for a place in Montgomery, Al to impress your lady please select this location.. I’m in awe of my night.. ladies if you’re into wine they have a outstanding list to choose from.: I’m over here screaming now because they are playing old school love music to be exact DeBarge I like it “… This will be my perfect get away, longe, happy hour, fine dinning and grown and sexy environment. Please ask for Ms. Jordan she should have 23 on her chest because she was a champion for this establishment tonight.. FYI.. all sorority member from AKA please include this restaurant on our agenda.. much love and respect.
Celebrated my 31st birthday here with my husband and I enjoyed every second. From the live music to the amazing food I promise you will not be disappointed. Our waitress Careesha was absolutely amazing, she had a great personality and knew the menu well enough to recommend everything we ordered. Overall this restaurant did not disappoint.
Tiffany was our server she was kind, thoughtful and expedient with all of our requests. The food was fabulous and the creme brulee was better than Gordon Ramsays!
Very nice spot, adult children decided to take their dad here. Our server was especially courteous, enjoyed the selection of music being played...The food was amazing....
I had the jambalaya pasta. They served it with spaghetti noodles that was over cooked. The cream sauce that goes with it does not go with the dish. The sauce had a cheddar cheese and tomato flavor. Nothing about it tasted like jambalaya. My date had the lamp chops that tasted wild and wasn’t seasoned enough. Overall , I forced myself to eat it only because it was expensive and I don’t like complaining. Very nice atmosphere but the food is below average.
Great food and drinks.💥 Our waiter was excellent also. Forgot his name. But he was very polite. Young man with what I believe to be dreads at the top😍
I took my husband for his birthday on May 1. The service was great, Sanchez was our server he was amazing. He kept us informed about our food and when it came out it was delicious! We will definitely be back!
We had a great meal. The lighting the atmosphere the live singer were all greatWe had the signature cocktails and split the IttaBena salad, jambalaya pasta and crème brûlée If you don’t want huge portions and taking half of your meal home in a paper bag, that will be enoughJasmine was a great server and helped us make good choicesThank you so much!
Itta Bena was the answer to our wedding anniversary dinner prayer! My husband and I enjoyed Lump Crab Cake, She Crab soup appetizers, Lamp Chops, Risotta w/ vegetables, Salmon, rice and mixed greens. Our gem of a server, Raven, was so knowledgeable and pleasant. She delivered exceptional service!!! The ambiance, atmosphere, music and dining experience earned 5☆s!!!! Caroline Thames
The atmosphere was wonderful, from the live musician, the lighting, and decor. Soothing environment. My husband ordered the Lamb chops and I had the mushroom pasta. We also shared the barbecue shrimp (I highly recommendWe shared the chocolate covered cheesecake. Everything was wonderfully seasoned.
The atmosphere and service is what absolutely draws you in and keeps you wanting more.
I visited Montgomery for the Thanksgiving holiday. On my visit, I decided to check out Wind Creek Montgomery. While there, I went to Itta Bena.I sat at the bar by myself waiting on some friends. During my wait, Jennifer tended the bar. Let me just say, Jennifer is awesome. She is friendly, professional and engaging. We had such a nice interaction/conversation. I didnt have any expectation for Itta Bena. But, after having such a nice experience with Jennifer, I know next time I am in Montgomery it will be on my list of places to revisit.Futhermore, I really had a great experience with all the staff. Every staff person I encountered at the restaurant treated me well. The owners, management and staff all deserve stellar commendations. I enjoy coming to places that know how to treat people and have a great time!
Simply the best... the atmosphere, the food, the drinks, the servers especially Chris, the piano player..... EVERYTHING was great!!!!
My daughters baby shower was absolutely amazing. The service was great and so was the food. We will definitely be back.
Atmosphere is great! My husband and I had filet mignon. They were cooked to perfection. Our server, David, was amazing! He paid attention to detail, was so kind. I received a single white rose. The over all experience was great!
So we are currently here we had an 8pm reservation and we sat promptly. My crab cake appetizer was delicious. We ordered chicken and a salad as entrees it’s been 1 hour and still no food (I’m hungry)Our drinks came out 30 mins late but the waiter took them off the bill for the wait. It’s our 1 year wedding anniversary and we wanted to have a nice dinner, luckily we can have a good time together under any situation, but it’s only 30 people total in the restaurant (yes I had time to count lolso what’s taking so long.Update good came made up for the long wait, we had an excellent server too so all is well
We went to Itta Bena with two other couples. The atmosphere was great and there was live piano which was beautiful. Our waiter seemed nice but was horrible. We waited over 30 minutes for our drinks and an hour and a half for our food. There were only 2 other tables in the whole restaurant. For the price, the food was just okay. My friend ordered a ribeye medium rare and it came out grey. I am glad we tried it but will probably not be back.
Beautiful place. Service is amazing & the food has always been delicious. We had a good evening & we got engaged 😍
The atmosphere is very nice and the food was very good! I enjoyed the ribeye steak along with the sides.
I went for my birthday and everything was great. From the drinks to the food to entertainment. Service was great, Aubrey was great.
Great atmosphere. The creme brulee is to die for. Definitely one of my go to spots every time I visit Windcreek now
Me and the wife had a wonderful time. Good music good food. BBQ shrimp and crab cakes were wonderful.I had the land and sea which was tender steak, red snapper, and shrimp. My wife had a shrimp noddle dish. Probably the best restaurant in Montgomery. Pricey, but worth a good time with the wife.
The atmosphere was great, and I went on an evening where they had live music which was nice. I was pretty surprised there was no craft cocktail menu, so I gave a type of drink I like to the bartender, who in turn poured grapefruit juice and vodka into a glass and called it good. I subsequently returned it and decided to go with the wine list.I ordered the snapper on the menu, which after eating 2 bites I had to return it due to being extremely dry, and being on a bed of seemingly 60 second multigrain rice. This is the first time Ive ever sent food back due to the taste. I was really disappointed, but after ordering the duck special there was a bit of redemption (it was fantastic). We ordered two desserts, the cobbler and the cheesecake. The cobbler was good, but the cheesecake was literally a piece of plain cheesecake that looked like it had been sitting out (the edges had old yellowing parts...what kind of happens when you leave a cheesecake sitting out for a lengthy period of time). In the end, the best aspect of dining here was the waitress and the live music. I was quite disappointed especially after reading other reviews.
The atmosphere was great. Staff was wonderful. Food was yummy. Only complaint was the menu was a little limited, especially for my husband, who is allergic to shellfish. Otherwise, we loved it!
Loved the atmosphere, the employees, the food. Best experience celebrating our wedding anniversary. Definitely getting my family back here for Christmas. Best dining experience in Montgomery. Sheila took great care of us there ! Ask for her !!
My wife and I went here this past weekend for our 4th anniversary dinner. This was a pleasent change of pace from the normal "upscale" we have in Montgomery.Compared to Central, the atmosphere is far superior. We sat in a dim lit booth that had a privacy curtain. Which was just a fund addition. We were able to close it a little and we felt like it was just us at the restaurant. The appetizers were wonderful and probably our favorite part of the meal...but that does not mean that the entres were lacking. The crab cakes were cooked to perfection and the salmon was delicious. Id reccomend both dishes.Their wine list was great and their glasses were filled to the rim (which i like).Above all, their service was impeccable. To live in a city is is known for BAD wait service. This place is a pleasent surprise. We will be back.Only complaint is that the entrance (through BB Kings restaurantwas blocked with a covercharge and we had to take the back way in. Which took us asking a security guard for assistance.
I can not recommend this restaurant. We were one of about six or seven tables seated, so not a busy night. We waiting 10 minutes after being seated for our server to stop by our table. She took our orders and we did not see her again until our soup was delivered and that is the last time we saw her.We ordered an appetizer, soup, and main dishes. We waited 30 minutes for our appetizer, the shredded duck bruschetta which was the best part of the meal. Our soup was brought at the same time as our appetizer which was disappointing. The She Crab soup was good but not great. The beer cheese soup was mildly warm but not hot and too salty.Five minutes after our soup and appetizer were delivered (we finished our soup and had just started our appetizerour main dishes were delivered. The blackened fish was very good. The crab cakes were mediocre at best and the sauce on the plate had a film on the top from sitting too long under the heat lamps.Once our food was delivered (by a different waitress), nobody stopped at our table for the next 20 minutes to check on us. I finally flagged down the manager and asked for our bill. Others at tables near us simply left money and walked out because they couldn’t get anyone to bring their bill. The manager took our appetizer off of the bill without us asking or mentioning anything which was thoughtful but it was still a terrible experience. Every table seemed to the having the same experience as us.Unfortunately, the terrible service and mediocre food come nowhere near meeting expectations of a $30+/entree type restaurant.I highly recommend trying one of Montgomery’s other fine dining establishments and avoiding a stop here.
My chicken was luke warm & so were the fried green tomatoes but the flatbread was simply amazing! I had the nuts & berries drink & wasnt to king on that particular drink. The overall experience was good & our server Jennifer was fantastic! I wud def recommend going & Ill be back soon. ☺
Came with a large party (16 peoplefor a birthday. Atmosphere was amazing. However we got there at 8:30 and didn’t get our food until around 10:30. Soup and salad were good, entrees came out cold and were not cooked up to par. I don’t advise going with a really large party.
Service was extremely poor. Sat at the bar, was greeted 10 minutes later. Bartender never said hello... I will be right with you or anything. She stood and chatted with other servers for approximately 3 minutes although too busy to greet her bar customers. On previous visits the service was slow but I still enjoyed the atmosphere and food. I recommended Itta Bena to a friend last week; however, after this experience I will not recommend to anyone.
Nice atmosphere. The service was poor. It took too long to get our food. Hostess kept apologizing. Brought out enough rolls for one each. Requested more and did not get until we were finished. My daughter ordered steak like 3 others but her steak came out very late. My husband and I left her eating. Gratuity was not earned but charged. My husbands rice was cold. A 2 star restaurant instead of 5.
Id place this restaurant up there with in the ranks of Jubilee in regards to best dining experiences in Montgomery. Food was amazing, the atmosphere was gorgeous. Service was 10/10. The chef & manager both came to my wife & Is table and said hello. We will be back; best secret in Montgomery.
