Italics Restaurant - Italian restaurant in Chiang Mai, Thailand
Only offers buffet option for breakfast, even though a a La carte menu is shown.
Nice ambience and very tasty and original Italian food. Just one thing could be improved - informing the customer better about the prices and billing rules such as VAT not included in the prices shown in the menu or service charge will be added on bill.
Where do I even start. This place is tucked away in a small side of the street. However, the customer service and the food was top tier! Must I add they also have a rooftop. Inside is extremely clean and very beautiful. I enjoyed every last bit of my food. Highly recommend coming here.
Burrata salad, calamari, ragu papardelle, were delicious, seafood risotto was rich and flavourful. Tiramisu generous and rich.
I have ordered a pizza Margherita for delivery. Thin and good crust. Quality of tomato and mozzarella was very good and the pizza was well seasoned. I dont live close but the pizza was still warm and not soggy. Will order again.
A strange experience. Upon arrival we thought the oversized candles were pretty cool. After being seated we couldn’t help notice the hotels patrons arriving back after long hot day in their flip flops and tank tops, walking right through the restaurant. One by one when they awkwardly walked through while being shocked to see people sitting and eating a meal. Honestly, it was odd.If Italics want a pretentious vibe at least they could put up a false wall to shield the traffic off. Also, the wine was being pored by the waitress almost after ever sip, like it was beer. And, the food was a bit below average.Disappointed.
Expensive for what you get. Pork chop was half fat. Small bottle of beer was priced like a large bottle. Taste was good. Nice bread basket. Service was good. Service charge in bill. Not likely to return.
Was a good experience. Good taste was decent
My fav italian restaurant in chiang mai by far. Portions are huge. Quality ingredients. Menu aren’t cliché, there are both authentic style and fusion style. Price points are mixed, some are on a high side some are reasonable. Order wisely. Love the ambience as well, modern yet elegant. Service was excellent.
My favorite place for a nice dinner out in Chiang Mai. Relaxed and upmarket vibe without the white-tablecloth formality or prices.
Service was good. The portions were also the right size. The steak was unbelievably flavorful and worth a taste. I also had an Ameretto Sour drink which was delish! Enjoyed the overall experience, best to make a reservation.
Went for dinner after a long tour to Chiang Rai. Were told it was a Michelin star rated restaurant so thought wed give it a go. Were able to get a seat immediately, service was great. Drinks were delicious. Ordered food and they brought out a few condiments like parmesan cheese and crushed red peppers in little glass containers. As soon as they sat it on our table, a little roach crawled out of one and onto our table. We notified the staff and they were very apologetic and moved us to another table to continue eating, while they sprayed the table down with bug spray. Thinking it was just a one off situation, we returned for breakfast the next day, which was a buffet setting. As soon as we went up to grab breakfast, we witnessed a small roach crawling on top of the cucumbers and decided to leave. We really wanted to give this place a chance but seeing roaches TWICE in the food on two separate occasions just let me kNOW that It had to be worse in the kitchen.
The atmosphere of restaurant was so nice. Wine was also good.
Delicious! The best burger Ive ever had!
The food was good. Pasta was VERY aldante. Good service. The price is up there but compared to other 5 star restaurants this is still cheaper. The only critique I have is that water is extremely expensive there, 60baht for a small bottle.
3 stars for food and service. Decor and food presentation is not bad. There are hotels guests walking in and out to the lift located inside the restaurant. $$$
I havent spent a lot of meals here at this restaurant, but the ones I have had have been really fantastic. Having lived in Chiang Mai for a few years, I would come here occasionally, but was never one of my go to spots, because of my own ignorance. I regret not coming here more often, so when Im in Chiang Mai visiting, I make it a point to go there to eat. Really clean, very well designed menu and food. Everything is very well executed. The service is always really great, and the food is very high quality, very flavorful, and have never had a meal there that disappointed me. Definitely check it out, have some of the pizza, the salads, the pasta, you cant go wrong with any of those decisions
Despite the restaurant calling me to change the time of my reservation a few hours before the meal due to them overbooking.. I cant give them any less than five stars. I took my partner out for a birthday meal and the food was exceptional. We both agreed the truffle fries and fried ravioli starter was the best we had eaten in Thailand. Our mains were just as delicious but we couldnt finish it! The waiter was professional and friendly. Two small complaints, Coke poured from a can is not nearly worth 90 baht, the food pricing is very reasonable for the quality of food.. but way overpriced for a can. Secondly in a fancy and expensive restaurant, I would have appreciated water being offered to the table when seated and not charge for this. We would still return for the food 🙏
Headed to Chiang Mai to get out of the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, and this was one of the first restaurants we hit.We had Salmon and Steak and enjoyed the food, probably edging on the pricey side, but the standard of what was served, tasted good. My medium rare came out bang on, a lovely cut of beef and the other half loved her Salmon but couldnt finish it, as decent sized portions.Good customer service from the staff, they were attentive and nice and the level of spoken english was good.Definitely will be heading back.
We had a lovely anniversary meal at Italics. The staff were so nice and they gave us a tiramisu for free as it was our anniversary which was soooo yummy. Thanks so much for welcoming us.I have given a 4 star as the steak and chips were not that hot, still very tasty but need to ask for it to be heated up which was a shame. But all in all a great meal and restaurant.
I can’t be sure this is the best Italian restaurant in Chiangmai. But I can say what I have is good.
Amazing food! I think the best thing was the beef ribeye but all the food was amazing!! The design of the place is pretty cool. The staff were really friendly and the food was quick to come! Prices are a bit higher but you can get some crazy good deals with the Eatigo app. Definitely worth it for a nice romantic date night spot.
I like the breakfast at Italics, it has a variety of dishes. The best part is the food quaility made to order with fresh ingredients.
Great restaurant with unique lights. Pretty nice, upscale. The food was great. I tried the ribeye and fries, very good. We also tried the carbonara pasta and it was great.Had some mozzarella toast and Italian flatbread with Parma ham and cheese. Service was very good. We got off for about 2500 with a glass of wine couple cokes and a minty limeade drink, also excellent
Yes, probably the best pizza in Chiang Mai. Excellent, thin and crispy. Steak was alright, with home made fries and tasty salad. The Hokkaido duo with tuna also nice. Dessert 👍👍. Great service and environment. Just parking the car is a small issue. But that is a problem for Nimmanhemin overall.
Excellent food just the prices are too high for here...Biggest plus point for me are GLUTEN-FREE Pizza, Pasta and even some dessert, like Lava cake.Quite stylish decoration, background music I found a bit annoying, silence would be better. One detail: please serve espresso in a proper glass or ceramic cup, not in transparent plastic that only looks like glass... Not only Italians are dismayed about this ;))
Weve come here twice now during our visit in Chiang Mai! We couldnt stop talking about how yummy the food was after the first night and were excited to come back. The wait staff is also super kind and sweet. And the restaurant is so well decorated, it has a nice feel to it! We highly recommend this place for a night out while in Nimman area. Its a little pricey but well worth it 👌
Friends and I recently dined at this restaurant while in Chiang Mai over Christmas and New Year. The food was divine, staff and service excellent. I would highly recommend for a special night out.
I recommend you avoid. Very disappointing food and poor value — some of the worst Italian food I’ve ever had anywhere. My wife and I visited in January 2020 and were craving something non Thai after being in SE Asia for 2 months...we wished we would have sticked with Thai. All the food we had was incredibly disappointing. We ordered the Beef Ragu and the Ham Lovers Pizza. They both had little to no flavor and were poor quality. The pizza crust felt like it was microwaved while the ham was undercooked. The pasta noodles with our Ragu were way overcooked and too chewy. I’d recommend you try something else while in Chiang Mai — we won’t be back.
Very delicious food, definitely on the upper price side. But great Ambiente and service. So worth the money.
Food is good and cross over between Western style with Thai style. The declaration make the restaurant more luxury.
I was blown away by not only the quality of food (we order cheese pizza, seared scallops, and crab avocadoeverything was freshly made, absolutely delicious. I had 1 glass of cabernet sauvignon the wine was fine to me. The most impressive thing i like here is the service. Staff was absolutely nice and tehy try to make sure that everything is perfect also they pay attention to every tiny details. Overall I gave 10/10. Oh the price point compare to the quality is reasonable and worth it.
My wife took me here for dinner on my birthday and we loved it. Its one of the best restaurants in this are for sure. We had a bottle of red wine, and appetizer and 2 mains, we like all the food and the service was amazing. Its pricy, don’t expect Thai local prices, but its really nice for special occasions. Dinner for 2: 4000 TBH.
This is my first time here.So I have been visiting many international food in Chiang Mai but this place very delighted me.Because food is very delicious in a reasonable price and service is really great. My Staff is Maow, Pang, and Pam. I’ve not to require any thing because they ask me before every time. They really good take care of me.If you find some Italian food and pleasant service. I’m really recommend this restaurant. :))
***** MasterPeach Star *****The Best Pork Chop in town. Its such aPerfect cook with great smell. Also, the dessert is so impressive. I really enjoy the vanilla Icecream on the brownie dough and top with caramel.
Potato gnocchi is the best! Thank you for replying to my earlier reviews. Thats nice of you. The more I have your food, the more I liked it. You have earned 5 stars from me.
I went with a large group, and ordered the gnocchi, which was delicious. The setting itself is lovely. You can BYOB for 350THB, and the wine list is fairly expensive so worth bringing your own. The service was just ok.
First of all, the staff here is great and the food presentation on most dishes was quite good. That said, for $60 a plate in Chiang Mai for Christmas dinner, this was a let down.Heres why; the restraunt is in the lobby of the hotel without any separation, the lights are very bright leaving no sense of intimacy or privacy, The decor is over the top, I found it tacky to place the restraunt branding on the desert, and most importantly the food was a bit overcooked and pretty basic. My recommendation is to pass on this one.
We went there because of its high google rating. To start with, the restaurant looked cool and glamorous. The summer salad was refreshing and our starter deep fried calamari was crispy. But the two pastas were a BIG disappointment. The garlic and chilli spaghetti was dry with insufficient olive oil and the garlic was burned. The portion was so small that we finished it in 4 forkful. The garlic and chilli spaghetti made by Cafe Paul (a small local bistro just a minute away from Italicswas much better. The chiefs signature pasta -- yellow fin tuna squid-ink pasta (350 bht++was watery (!). The tuna cubes were dry, chewy and not match with the squid-ink pasta. What a waste of the ingredients.Waitresses were friendly and smiley but not up to professional standard. We ordered 5 dishes to share. We were give two small plates to share the food and they did not replace the dirty plates until we requested them to do so.There are better options around.
Nice food and friendly service, but if the plate for open chicken be changed to other color like grey would be better(just personal opinion), pleasant experience, thanks!
Fantastic meal and very best Italian in Chiangmai. With this quality and services it could be double price of this in Bangkok. A must! restaurant to try out. Reservation for dinner is recommended during weekend.Australian beef steak is sooooooo nice.
If you manage to get a table at this restaurant, you are in for a treat. I dont what they do in the kitchen here but the food here is pure magic. The Massaman Beef Curry was outstanding and the deep fried prawn cake deserves a special mention. It is now a favourite of mine. The drinks were also on point. The servers are attentive and you feel like youre looked after here. Highly recommended to give this place a try.
My girlfriend and I went to italics for dinner after recommendation. We ordered three starters and a pizza each. We went a bit bananas I guess, and we had to ask them to pack a few pizza pieces for take away. My girlfriend had also a strawberry ice tea and mint lemon ice tea. The Chang mai salat was awsome. Crispy clean leaf salat with Thai spicy sausage, strings of baked chillis puffed pork skin and cucumber. The bruschetta with Avokado and crab wasnt that good but not bad, missed salt. I recommend the baked eggplant it comes with a small salat bowl and is awsome. Gratinated with cheese and tomatoes really good. The pizzas were also very good, a bit too much cheese for my taste but hey what the hell.. When in Thailand. Ej? Eh? Yeah
Really amazing place to eat. I liked the pizza a lot. Tastes like a European pizza. Theres also a nice rooftop bar at the top. Ive eaten there 3 days in a row.
I had birthday dinner here. The food was good, especially the gnocchi is great. The salad is fresh and delicious, put the pizza has no surprise. The staffs are nice and patient, they could notice the needs of customer quickly. Overall I strongly recommend you to try if you would like to have a casual but at the same time a decent Italian meal.
Food and service lacked commitment and soul. Staff seem very distracted by people checking into the hotel; so distracted that they dont pay attention to restaurant patrons. Spicy seafood tomato soup has its redeeming qualities. Lava cake was complimentary to compensate for the lacklustre service. Unfortunately it looks way better than it tastes. This is definitely not amongst the top 10 restaurants in Chiangmai. By the way, the bowl for the khao soi was very dirty.
We had a BD lunch party for our 3 friends at Italics and the food was fantastic! Each dish is artistically palatable. The porkchop was huge and cooked to its perfection... so tender so juicy! The sea bass and the tuna dishes were incredibly delicious. Salute to the chef. Thank you very much for the complimentary BD platters. It was a memorable surprises for our BD girls. Perfect lunch, incredible food, superb service!
Fantastic Italian cuisine in Chiang Mai, loved everything. Great work chefs! Amazing modern decor & great service from the staff. Highly recommend you give it a try when you can. Great rooftop bar also 👍
The service and taste and food style are pretty good, a little bottle pricy but it’s acceptable.
Awesome place with awesome service. The quality of the food is food too. But there is just something about those lights which give me a weird feeling. It is definately an upscale price establishment and then you are in Thailand surrounded by lots of food option of super high standard for less money. Hense the 4 stars.
